Our visit to Margie's 2.0 was a mixed experience.
The good: cute vibe with great pictures of Margie in the room we were in, friendly and honest service- Emma was lovely, the caprese salad was the highlight of our meal! It was beautiful, fresh, and well seasoned. We split this as an appetizer and it was perfect.
Now for the not so great: our food took ages to come out and we ordered somewhere around 7:45 PM. Our waitress was transparent that the kitchen was very busy which was nice, and the place was definitely packed. But we were a two top and ordered a lasagna and chicken piccata. That's it. I bet we waited around 40 minutes for our food to come out. It happens, it was a busy Saturday night. Unfortunately, I wouldn't say what arrived was worth the wait. Both of our meals were trending towards lukewarm and were severely under-seasoned. But it took so long to get the food, you didn't even want to ask for it to be heated up because you're hungry and who knows how long that will take?! Thankfully there was salt and pepper on the table which we made quick use of. Then, the bill came. For an iced tea, caprese salad, chicken piccata, and a serving of lasagna-- it was $61.
If you're charging those prices... something has to change with the experience. You need to offer complimentary garlic bread, bread and olive oil/balsamic vinegar... something!!! There were tiny breadsticks and garlic butter- but that's it. Additionally, people can't be waiting 40 minutes and receiving food that isn't piping hot and bland.
I don't know, it wasn't terrible but if I am dropping $60 (not including tip) on dinner, there are better places to spend that dough to get better food and a better experience. Everything is so expensive right now and going out to eat is a treat. We will give Margie's 2.0 another try to make sure this wasn't a one off experience, but I won't be rushing over for round two. We definitely left reminiscing about the original Margie's experience and food.
