38 Best Hotels in Barcelona, From City Center Boutiques to Secluded Retreats | Condé Nast Traveler

"A favorite for Wes Anderson–types, Margot House feels like someone's impeccably styled private apartment with designer furniture, sexy bathrooms, and communal living spaces such as the Margot Room which serves as a living room, library and workspace; there's an honesty bar with 24/7 snacks, encouraging guests to treat the place like home." - Isabelle Kliger, Gemma Askham

Margot House

"How did it strike you on arrival?Have I just walked into someone's apartment? What’s the crowd like? You'll see lots of trendy young couples who appear at ease in their surroundings. The hotel tends to be popular with hipster, Wes Anderson types—which makes perfect sense as it’s named after a character from The Royal Tenenbaums. Tell us about your room. There are nine rooms in total; I was in room 1. It is airy and spacious, all light wood and white fabrics. The designer furniture catches the eye, and I definitely spent a moment contemplating how I might steal one of the lamps from local design firm Santa & Cole. Luckily I didn’t have to, as all the furnishings are for sale at the Margot Store. The best part was the morning sun streaming in through the windows, and the view of famed architect Antoni Gaudí’s spectacular Casa Batlló, right across the street. What's the bed situation? You'll get a huge, firm king-size bed, with crisp, cool, Egyptian-cotton sheets. How are the bathrooms? This bathroom is sexy. Full stop. It has Turkish hammam-style towels, Aesop products, and a double walk-in shower with two shower heads, for all you lovebirds. How's the Wi-Fi?The free Wi-Fi works well Anything stand out about other services and features? When you check in to Margot House, you're encouraged to treat it like your home. Every hotel will tell you that, but here it’s true. The Margot Room is a living room, library, and work space all in one. There’s an “honesty bar” (pour yourself a drink and leave the money in the jar), and you can help yourself to snacks, 24/7. What was most memorable about your stay?If you want to stay on Barcelona’s emblematic Passeig de Gràcia boulevard, there’s very little choice outside the giant five-star range. Margot House is the exception to that rule—a small, comparatively affordable boutique hotel right on the city's prettiest and most iconic thoroughfare. Bottom line: worth it?Margot House offers great value in a killer location. It is worth every penny." - Isabelle Kliger

"At just nine-rooms strong, a week spent at this elegant boutique property is a lot like staying at a local’s private home, if they had a concierge, laundry service, and a kitchen with snacks on demand 24/7. The minimalist but somehow still cozy bedrooms, with their Barcelona-made furniture and linens are kind of like living love letters to the city. Oh, and the Margot in Margot House is in reference to Margot Tenenbaum. "

Hotel Margot House Barcelona, a Design Boutique Hotel Barcelona, Spain

"Stunning floor-to-ceiling windows in Hotel Margot House mean that rooms are flooded with natural light- and some even look out onto Gaudí's Casa Batlló on the Passeig de Gràcia. With just 9 rooms, an intimate experience is pretty much guaranteed, while the attention to detail here is superb. Think old-fashioned room key, homemade city guide, and designer candles. With an honesty bar, a kitchen where you can cook for yourself, and strawberries and Champagne as an in-room welcome gift, the risk at Hotel Margot House is that you'll never actually want to leave to explore the city!" - My Boutique Hotel (en)

We had a fabulous stay at The Margot House Barcelona. The service was excellent—attentive, warm, and always delivered with a sense of privacy and genuine friendliness. The atmosphere truly felt like a home away from home, with thoughtful touches throughout the property. The team went out of their way to make my boyfriend feel special on his birthday, surprising him with wine, balloons, and streamers that made the moment unforgettable. This hotel is an absolute GEM with exceptional hospitality and charm. I would highly and wholeheartedly recommend staying here.

This was our first visit to Barcelona. Margot House is in a wonderful location. It was easy to walk around and lots of options for dining. Loved the small quaintness of the hotel. It was quiet & cozy. Staff was friendly & assisted us with bookings & other questions. Breakfast was delicious! Will stay there again if we go back.

Margot House Hotel is a boutique hotel located on Paseo de Gracia - the heart of downtown Barcelona close to expensive shopping and, more importantly, Casa Battlo, which is a Gaudi masterpiece across the street. The hotel itself is located on the second floor of a fairly non-descript building.||Most of the hotel has no windows, which could make some claustrophobic. However, the interior design is truly top notch, surrounded by great art and comfortable seating areas, which makes one forget about the lack of direct light. (There are a couple of street-facing rooms, but I wonder how quiet they are given the street they face is very busy.)||Our room was upgraded and was fairly large, but - with any small hotel - the soundproofing was not perfect, and you could hear doors and people moving through the hotel. The amenities in the room were mostly of a high standard as one would expect. There were some parts of the room that could have used a deeper clean, but that it probably nitpicking.||Most importantly, the staff were all lovely. From our arrival to departure, they couldn't do enough to make our stay more comfortable. Thank you.||In summary, if you're looking for a small (somewhat quirky) boutique hotel that is very well located for touristy endeavors, you could do much worse than Margot House. We personally prefer hotels in slightly quieter parts of town.

We just stayed there for 3 nights at the end of a 2 week Spain trip. It was great. Its actually only a 9 room hotel with very personal service. Really felt comfortable and taken care of with a very good location. |Only suggestions would be: be more clear about how to enter (more like an apartment complex than hotel), more lighting in the room, and a normal room key.|Thanks Margot House. We will be back.

My husband and I stayed here during our first visit to Barcelona. We had the room with a city view. The room was large and very comfortable. The staff at the desk were so friendly and helpful with everything. The location of the hotel is central to lots of great places to eat and drink. Highly recommend. We would definitely stay here again.

Great stay! Maria at the reception was incredibly helpful, she shared tips on things to do, recommended places to eat, and the other receptionist even booked a dinner reservation for us. Mari arranged two rooms facing each other with a cozy shared living area, which was perfect. Excellent service!

I stayed 3 nights at Margot House, located along Passeig de Gracia. The location is perfect — the metro, train, and bus stops are right in front of the hotel, making it super convenient to get around the city.||Food-wise, no worries at all. There’s a McDonald’s right below and plenty of cafes nearby, so you’ll never go hungry.||The room was clean and spacious enough for me, and the staff were all very welcoming and friendly.||Only thing to note: they don’t provide toothbrushes or toothpaste, so make sure to bring your own.||Would definitely recommend for a comfortable and convenient stay in Barcelona.

Perfectly located diagonally opposite Casa Batlló it is right in the centre of the city. Entrance is discreet through a code on a door off the street. Receptionist was really welcoming and helpful. The room was beautifully bright and airy, immaculately clean, well presented with everything you would expect. Despite its central location, the room was well soundproofed. We happily sat by the window for a few mins every morning with a coffee watching the world go by. With just 9 rooms it is small but feels really special. Sometimes the best things come in small packages!
