"It's a Dallas rite of passage to try the (frozen) margarita that started it all. At least sort of. Mariano’s owner Mariano Martinez may not have invented the cocktail, but he is responsible for the margarita’s most exciting innovation – the frozen margarita machine. The original machine sits in the Smithsonian, but this longstanding spot still serves up a fine margarita. Jazz it up with jalapeno-infused tequila or a floater of sangria." - Eater Staff

"The frozen margarita was literally invented at this Dallas Tex-Mex stalwart, which means that it’s a must for locals and tourists alike. The original here is perfectly drinkable, with a strong punch of lime and plenty of tequila." - Courtney E. Smith, Rachel Pinn

"Is Dallas the original home of the frozen margarita? Maybe, and it’s certainly the official drink of the city. The story goes that first frozen marg machine was developed by Mariano’s Hacienda Ranch owner Mariano Martinez in the ‘70s, after being struck by inspiration while watching a Slurpee pour at a his local 7-11. Pop in for an original, plus some excellent Mexican food." - Eater Staff

……. READ THIS REVIEW ……… GO-GO-GO!!!!! This is the place that INVENTED the margarita machine and the first frozen margarita!!! The food is true Tex-Mex at its best. I arrived at 6:30pm on a Thursday night and the parking lot is packed with a 45min waiting list. I got the last seat at the bar. (Whew!) Fast service from the bar and kitchen (8-10 min for food!). Impressive while totally packed. Very nice and attentive staff. Patrons are multi-generational and there was a great happy buzz in the air. Why advertise? They are packed every night… and now I know why! Strawberry Margarita: Delicious. Perfect thickness and texture, normal strength (you can taste the tequila), and it doesn’t melt too fast. I recommend these over a swirl. Red Salsa: Delicious, not sweet or bitter. Just perfect! Nice tight small chop on everything (not puréed), great flavor and balance of every ingredient you expect. (There is also a darker version I did not try.) Tortillas: Super fresh, handmade, and only minutes off the grill when you get them. Awesome! (They last perfect in a ziplock.) Beef Enchiladas: Perfect! Savory dark meat sauce, elegant and obviously old school cooking from home. It’s not thick and creamy like some lesser quality places serve - this is like a hearty Texas mini-chili consistency that’s exactly what I would expect, and not greasy! The meat is moist (not greasy), nicely seasoned and portioned. Yummy - get some!! (10 out of 10) Sour Cream Chicken Enchiladas: Generous portion of shredded chicken, nice flavor but about 20% on the dry side. The sour cream sauce is very Tex-Mex traditional, soft hints of the sour come through, nice consistency. Overall 6 out of 10. Beef Fajitas: Wow! Really good. Soft, moist, and tender meat, well seasoned and smokey. The handmade tortillas are a perfect compliment. I’m getting these again. (Ask for double onions and bell peppers or you will run out.) 10 out of 10. Chicken Fajitas: Wow! Equally good. Thick long pieces and smokey, perfect moistness and flavor. Definitely worth getting. (Ask for double onions and bell peppers or you will run out.) 10 out of 10. Overall restaurant score = 8 out of 10. (Could be 10 out of 10 depending on what you order.) definitely worth going once. Then decide for yourself if you want to come back. As for me, I’ll be back and tweeting my order.

This seems to be the place to be as it was packed and I waited 20+ minutes for a table before 5pm on a Saturday afternoon ! The chips and salsa were amazing. They have nice thin, non-greasy chips and the salsas were so flavourful...I ordered a cup of their queso too, and it also did not disappoint. For my main I had the Poblano al Carbon. My favourite part was the cheese enchilada covered with the spicy sundance sauce. The poblano was nicely flame broiled but the filling was mostly spilled out and luke warm when it arrived to me. Still it was really good. Also served with rice, pinto beans and guacamole. A truly fabulous meal. I also had a Paloma cocktail and the Mariano Margarita, both of which were fantastic. Service was stellar and very attentive considering how busy and bustling it was. You should definitely check this place out.

Nice staff and good food! I visited to try TexMex cuisine. It was a Friday night, so there were many people dining in and getting takeout. Due to the long wait around 40 minutes, I decided to order takeout. The staff working at the takeout station were very friendly and helpful! When I ate the food I ordered, I found some dust around the top of the pepper, but it wasn't a big deal. Overall, it was a little bit salty, but the taste was good. I will visit again!

Google
I got a Mariano Margarita and the Brisket tacos. My coworkers had strawberry and mango margaritas and we had queso that had ground beef and guacamole in it. That meat was so tasty I'm going to order the enchiladas next time. Awesome rustic atmosphere, great drinks, amazing food, definitely a must try.

I was invited to lunch by my cousin. This was my first time trying this restaurant. I had chicken tortilla soup, it was delish and flavorful. They offer complimentary chips and salsa, but they do charge for the tortillas. There was also a $2 upcharge for the beef poblano pepper. I also tried the stuffed poblano pepper. It was too cheesy for my liking. The music and ambiance was festive. They also prepare tortillas on site and are well known for their frozen margaritas. I will definitely be back and recommend it to others.👍🤤

Our first time here to the place of the original margarita! Food was amazing and so was the service! Drinks of course were refreshing!

I love this place. Roberto was the best server I’ve ever had. He was amazing. His service was amazing. I definitely recommend this place. Everything about this place is awesome. You won’t regret it.

Google
Great service and excellent food every time I’ve been here. Their spicy chicken verde (flat ironed with spices and tomatillo sauce) is unique and full of flavor. I highly recommend this dish as it’s not only amazing but unique to this restaurant.

Yelp
We only came in for a margarita with a friend in from out of town who is a margarita junkie. I had recently seen that this place is supposedly the birthplace of the frozen margarita. (haha --This particular friend got wasted on frozen margaritas at our wedding - and yes, we rented a frozen margarita machine for the reception, and have zero regrets!) The cocktail prices are high, but what the heck - the atmosphere is on point! - a big square "cheer-style" bar, a kitchen with a bunch of voyeur windows to watch the action, and a little handmade tortilla station right by the entrance. I was mesmerized and they gave me a steaming hot flour tortilla sample! The drinks were good - I got the one swirled with frozen sangria. I really want to come back here for dinner sometime.

Yelp
I was visiting a friend in Dallas and decided to try some Tex-Mex cuisine while I was out there. I would say the food pricing is on the higher side ($20-30 per entree), but the serving sizes were large, so I wasn't too upset. I tried the brisket tacos and I unfortunately thought the meat was pretty dry. It was okay with the avocado and salsa, but the sides of beans and rice were also pretty lackluster. Definitely wouldn't come back for a meal. Here's what I did like though: the service was incredibly attentive and friendly, plus we constantly had a basket of chips at the table. That's honestly what kept this review from dropping to 2 stars. Their complimentary salsas were solid and the queso was actually incredibly delicious. The drinks here are boozy and they claim to be the inventors of the frozen marg. I did try the Frozen Strawberry Mango and it was sweet, but strong aka dangerous. Overall, I would recommend coming here with a group during happy hour and enjoying the nachos to share.

Chantel W.

Yelp
My cousin raves about the dip...so the dip we had. Crispy warm chips and the dip had really good smokey flavor and spice. I preferred the red salsa they give you over the roasted one. The cowboy queso is really good. It reminded me of a beer cheese rather than the typical white cheese.

Semhar M.

Yelp
Name a better queso than the queso Mariano I beg of you! Even visiting at 4:00pm on a cold, rainy day - this place was still poppin! We get the same thing every time. Frozen house margs, tajin on the rim, queso Mariano for the table, and steak and chicken fajitas for one. They're big enough to share for three people. And those homemade flour tortillas come out fluffy and fresh every single time. Love consistency. Love a good Tex Mex. Love it here!

Shelia D.

Yelp
From The World's First Frozen Margarita Machine to transforming Texas Ranch Grilling, Mariano's serves delicious authentic Mexican cuisine. The décor is a delightful blend of Texas Ranch, Mexican flair and a dash of cowboy. From sizzling fajitas to hearty Tex-Mex classics, every dish is a testament to the fusion of flavors that defines the region. The authenticity shines through. And the cherry on top was the amazing service we received from Carmelo. Thank you! In other words, Mariano's stands out for its homely atmosphere. Whether you're indulging in comfort food or sharing laughs with friends this spot captures the essence of a true comfort dining experience.

Mark M.

Yelp
This was an amazing lunch. Brought a friend from Ft Worth for his first visit. The service was great, the beef nachos were awesome, my entree was great and the margaritas hit the spot. Very laid back and relaxed atmosphere. Loved that. Cannot wait to return and have another great meal.

Karen W.

Yelp
Love this place. We often bring out of town guests here for the full Tex mex experience. Recently, we've been ordering fajitas for take out. The take out experience is pretty efficient. You don't even have to get out of your car. The fajitas are always hot and delicious. You can easily feed a crowd. When we dine in, service is very attentive and friendly.

Lauren M.

Yelp
Any time I'm in Dallas, I stop here for fajitas and margaritas! They claim to be the originator of the worlds first frozen margarita. I celebrate this accomplishment with them every time I go because I get the frozen margarita. I have also tried their other versions and all are good! It's a happening place. Expect a wait if you are going during traditional eating hours, but there is lots of space around the bar and the outside patio. They make fresh tortillas onsite!!! Shout out the ladies who crank these delicious tortillas out in large batches. Their corn ones are also good too. I personally have never tried anything but the sizzling platters of fajitas but can vouch for the queso to go with free chips and salsa. We typically go with family (6+ people and kids) and they are great accommodating large parties. Cheers to a good and delicious time at Mariano's!

Tiffani C.

Yelp
Food, service, and ambience all great! Stopped in on a Sunday around 5 with family and friends table of 9 and we were hungry!! We were seated right away. Definitely family fun setting. Our server was top notch and on point with clearing our table and bringing our food and drinks. Complimentary chips and salsa came to the table ( the darker salsa has a kick and was amazing! Wanted to drink it!). I ordered the Carlos & Charlie's. Hubby got the Texas Surf n Turf. My sister got the Carne Asada. My 8 year old picky eater daughter got 3 beef enchiladas with queso and she killed them! Everyone was super satisfied with their meals and the size portions were huge! Drinks WOW!!! Presentation, taste, and alcohol ratio definitely worth the price. We ordered a couple rounds of The Mariano, La Paloma, The Swirl, Bloody Mary, and Frozen Strawberry Margaritas. And OMG try the Hot Apple Pie for dessert! So freakin delicious! I wanted to lick the cast iron haha! This was our first definitely wont be our last. This will be our go to and put in rotation. 100% recommend this place! We were there for a couple of hours and never felt rushed and service never slowed. We will definitely be back soon!

Isela V.

Yelp
Must admit, first time trying this place we were convinced to try their "the best in town" fajitas. We did, along with a couple of margaritas. Unfortunately, we got fajitas that were overly tender. So tender we thought maybe they had been sitting in the marinade for a while. I know, complaining about over tender meat but that tenderness made them taste like we were eating ground beef. The flavor was there just not the texture. We decided to try again, bringing our son who work for a local restaurant too and is always looking for fajita competition. We must admit this time around the fajitas were not overly tender. They felt just right and the meat was full of yummy flavor. The restaurant was packed both times but their service is quick and efficient. The restaurant was clean and orderly and the bathrooms were too. Margaritas are abundant and the bar area is big and spacious. They take credit for the frozen margarita but I only ordered them on the rocks.

Jasmin M.

Yelp
We loved this place! It was my first time in Dallas and we were in town for the Cowboy game. Anyway, the food here was SO good and the service was excellent. Shoutout to Yolanda! Thank you for your remarkable service. - dios te bendiga Edit: I had the frozen margarita and ordered it on the rocks as well. The frozen margarita is the BEST one I have ever had. I'm glad I tried both! I usually don't do margaritas (too sweet), but it was perfect.

Yelp
So I had previously been to a Mariano's Hacienda Ranch about a year ago. We were there celebrating a birthday with my wife Family. Yesterday, my wife and I were deciding on where to go for dinner and ride off my head. I mentioned Marianos and she said let's go see if it's not too busy to our surprise we got sat as soon as we went in for a Friday evening. Greeted by our server upon taking our table. I ordered myself a mango margarita, which was really good. We went ahead and ordered our food. My wife decided to go with Adelita, which is a plate there. I went ahead and got my self the chicken and steak fajitas with some homemade tortillas. The food was really good portion and was just perfect the service was excellent and to my surprise the ambience was not too loud so It made our dinner so much better. We will definitely go back to Marianos Hacienda if we're on that side of town. I apologize for not taking pictures of our food. I guess we were just a bit on the hungrier side. I will update with pictures in the next time.

Rebecka Z.

Yelp
What could be better than starting your Friday night then chips, salsa and a beautiful margarita to boot. The Lime Daisy margarita was perfect and has such a pretty presentation. Friday nights here are usually really busy but we didn't mind the wait because we could walk up to the bar and order a drink and a snack while we waited. We sat outside in the covered patio area and it was dimly lit so forgive the lighting in my pics but the ambiance was lovely. The patio area was not as loud as the inside of the restaurant and it felt more intimate and peaceful out there. I had the chile relleno and chicken enchilada plate, the food was tasty and well prepared but nothing was exceedingly, over the top delicious. I look forward to returning and trying something different next time and the vibe is always a good time.

Dawn C.

Yelp
Amazing food, drinks and service, the good parking and decor is the icing on this cake!

Raymond M.

Yelp
The food was delicious and the service was great. Make sure to order the spicy chicken verde. The spicy cool cucumber and frozen mango were okay. Our chips and salsa got replaced without having to ask! Our server also refilled our water and continuously made sure we were taken care of. They only accept reservations that are booked in advanced so plan accordingly. Plenty of parking and bathroom was clean.

Jarod M.

Yelp
Absolute best beef fajitas in the country. Do not look at the menu, just order those and thank me later.

Megan C.

Yelp
I love coming here. I started many years ago, prices have gone up like everywhere else. But the quality didn't decrease. I Love the queso it's mild they do have a spicy one but I like the queso Mariano, tortillas are fresh ingredients are fresh and delicious. The Mariano margarita is amazing. The service is top notch. I love the atmosphere, bathrooms are clean tables are clean. Eating on the patio is nice also it's more climate controlled than a regular outside patio. Overall food is delicious and will be back again and again.

Charlotte T.

Yelp
Chips and salsa were just good. Very good service! Great location and ambiance. Bathrooms clean and tended to on a busy night. Would go back!

Tara H.

Yelp
Ok, Mariano's, I've been here 3 times in 2 weeks. This place is amazing and has fast become my new favorite Mexican restaurant. The food and drinks are amazing and the service is exceptional. If you want the best Mexican in DFW, I implore you to visit Mariano's Hacienda Ranch and ask for Raphael.

Hillary K.

Yelp
Don't give 5 stars easily, but today the bartender at Mariano's got my complicated food order perfect! And the kitchen knocked it out of the park!

Michelle M.

Yelp
Excellent vibes & food! Loved the Texas torpedos and Mariano's Favorite. Will come back!

Linda M.

Yelp
I just had dinner at Mariano's and wanted to leave a review. I ordered the fajitas, which were grilled to perfection. The steak was tender and seasoned just right. The onions, bell peppers, guacamole, and flour tortillas were also delicious. I also ordered the queso Mariano, which is the best queso I've ever had. They also give you a good amount of chips to go with it. The margaritas are amazing as well. I can't say enough good things about the service. The staff greets you with a smile and is so attentive. Overall, Mariano's is one of the best experiences I've had at a restaurant. This will be a regular stop for me! Try this place for yourself! You won't be disappointed.

Ned I.

Yelp
I mainly came here for the frozen margarita since Mariano's claims to be its originator, but as a foodie, I had to order a meal too. I assumed the frozen margarita pitch was a tourist gimmick, but it was literally the best margarita I've ever had. It was blended perfectly, and the alcohol in it had me buzzing after one drink. The salsas served with the complimentary chips were surprisingly great, as well. I typically avoid hot salsas because I prefer flavor over heat, but Mariano's hot salsa is roast based. Lastly, the brisket tacos were bomb. I definitely recommend Mariano's to both locals and tourists.

Mike K.

Yelp
Great food, service and ambiance! Mariano's is always consistent with the quality of their food and and great service. Awesome staple in East Dallas and we really enjoy their chips, queso, fajitas, enchiladas and of course, their delicious margaritas! We love to visit and have never had a negative experience. Everything is fresh and made on-site, even their homemade tortillas. It's also a very festive and fun spot for celebrations and the holidays. We can't wait to go back!

Cory H.

Yelp
Came in on Cinco De Mayo based on a recommendation I was given. I got here early so even though they were busy it didn't take long to be seated. I really enjoyed their complimentary chips and salsa, some of the best salsa I have ever had. The drinks are really good here and definitely pictureworthy. The service and food were all top quality and this is now one of my favorite places.

Shayna W.

Yelp
On May 25th of 2024, my husband and I visited the Dallas location for our date night. The waitress behind me spilled two glasses of water all over me. She preceeded to clean the floor. Never once apologized or offer me a towel. I asked for the manager and he informs me it was an accident and it was only water. You and your staff member ruined our date night. My right shoe and sock was soaking wet. Thanks for nothing.

Juan C.

Yelp
Decided to stop by and have lunch and was not disappointed. Everything from the waiter to the food and sweet tea was perfect. Rafael was our waiter and was very knowledgeable and friendly, he explained all the meals and made recommendations. In the end we had an awesome experience, and the place is beautiful. Will be going back again.

Danny K.

Yelp
Great tex mex has to do with the chips, queso, tortillas, salsa, and how well they cook the meats--and this place does them all well! Delicious!!

Sara S.

Yelp
food was great but the star of the restaurant should be the frozen margarita. unfortunately, you don't get it served in a way that makes you go: "oohhhh, ahhhhh, now THIS is a frozen margarita!" for the birth place of the frozen margarita, the drink is an afterthought. it is served in a plain glass with a clear straw. the manager came to talk to me and said, "yeah, but it is good quality tequila..." well, you would not know based on the presentation. you can get comparable tex mex anywhere, but this place is missing on capitalizing on the mystique of the frozen concoction!

Amy H.

Yelp
This is the best Mexican I've ever eaten! The queso dip is out of this world and the margaritas are delicious, but be careful they are strong! We got 2 servings of "fajitas for two" which served 5 people and we still had leftovers. The steak was cooked to perfection and the homemade tortillas are amazing. Ambiance was nice and the service was great.

Lashandra H.

Yelp
I never get tired of this place. I enjoy great food every time I go. I have never had bad service and if I had an issue, it was addressed immediately. The ambiance is quaint and the heated patio is a vibe when it's cool outside. Planning a trip soon.

Nina E.

Yelp
Absolutely delicious fish tacos and the enchiladas that my husband had were exceptional. The restaurant had a long wait so we opted for Togo and got a margarita while we waited. The Mariano margarita was AMAZING and we were able to enjoy it while waiting for our food. The food only took 15-20minutes which was the perfect amount of time to sip our margarita. We traveled about 20 minutes home and the only thing I would've preferred different is to have the cabbage slaw and sauce on the side to rebuild at home. The food was still perfectly hot to eat and tasted wonderful.

Sherry P.

Yelp
The food is really good. Maricela is an excellent waitress too. Their fajitas are the best.

Nina H.

Yelp
Love the food there! The steak nachos are to die for! The staff are very nice and friendly The environment is fun, but make sure to be patient they are very busy and packed so sitting may be a bit of a wait but worth it!

Melody T.

Yelp
We come here quite often and enjoy the consistency in service and food quality. Whether I'm in the mood for a big delicious bowl of chicken tortilla soup, fajitas, or enchiladas, their menu always fits the bill! Just remember they are closed on Monday's!

Doug J.

Yelp
Might have the best drinks in the neighborhood. Really good margaritas. Food is really good just a little expensive for what you are getting. Never any complaints on food. Just seems to be creeping up there. Service can be hit or miss. You could have the best server or you might not see them ever. Usually they are really good but have had a few ghosts before. Chips and salsa are amazing! Just don't get too full on them!

Ken P.

Yelp
La Hacienda locations Frisco, Dallas and this one at one time were consider to my family as the "Family Restaurant" anyone we talked to knew where we were going. We would start with the fire roasted salsa and chips. Order Texas Torpedos, the cheese ones are our favorite and order a Diamond back steak. Which was a filet they would throw on the grill cooked to perfection. This was many years ago. Unfortunately they made the decision to update the menu to more of a fast dining, higher profit margin, more Tex mex menu. I still come for the Texas Torpedos and the chips and salsa as they have remained the same but not really into the other offerings as I'm one of the few that remember how the food used to be.

Christy T.

Yelp
The beef fajitas are to die for! Hot sauce and tortillas are wonderful as well! Always ask for Humberto if you can, he's the best server ever!!

Randy k.

Yelp
Can't believe we've never been here! Chips and salsa. Finally a salsa with some kick. Poured it over everything. Got the flautas with rice and beans. Rice was tasty and beans were fantastic. They both were flavored well. The flautas were full of great tasting chicken. Poured that spicy salsa over them Had to get the house margarita. Not to sweet, not to tart. Very well balanced. Be careful not to eat too many chips We will for sure be back

Julie G.

Yelp
Best Tex Mex food & Margaritas around! The fajita beef, hands down, is a must have as well as any margarita! I recommend the jalapeño margarita or the Wanda!

Bobbie N.

Yelp
First time here, food, ambience and service are all great! More power! Will definitely be back !

Jocelyn G.

Yelp
I'm not the biggest fan of Tex Alex, but Marino's is probably my favorite Tex Mex place and has changed my mind about Tex mex food. I ordered the Spanish style enchiladas which were very filling the side of roasted vegetables has great flavor. You get a wide variety of vegetables which is nice. The cream on the enchiladas was a bit too creamy for me and I would order the sauce on the side next time. The complimentary chips and salsa were delicious. My friends ordered the frozen margaritas and loved them. Also, our server was super friendly and attentive. Overall, great experience at Marino's and I would definitely come back!

Yami P.

Yelp
I love the food specially the service. Had a great time on my last visit with my daughters, our server Timothy made sure we had a memorable time. Thanks Tim!

Felicia S.

Yelp
I love Mexican food and I tell you I had chicken quesadillas and they were the best I ever had in life and I'm not bullshitting!!! The drinks were on point as well. Came in on a Saturday night short wait time will be returning for sure!!!

Ryan H.

Yelp
Stopped in after Six Flags, and it was amazing service. The food was so authentic, and our server Anubis was the best.

Robert T.

Yelp
Mediocre food. Mediocre margarita. Mediocre service. Mediocre atmosphere. Mariano's has gone the way of Matt's Ranchero in turning a good, reliable place to eat into just another blah place. Their premium margarita was $19, so I had the skinny and regretted it. Switched to a Negra Modelo. Buh bye.

Jessica G.

Yelp
The BEST, and I mean the best fajitas I've ever had. I also highly recommend the cheese enchiladas smothered in dad's state fair chili, also the best enchiladas I've ever had. Quality food & service every time. The patio seating is beautiful as well, great atmosphere.

Rosa S.

Yelp
I'm a regular customer & I have a 5 star experience on every visit. I stopped by Saturday with my husband & we sat at the bar. Marcella took excellent care of us. She was friendly, knowledgeable about the menu, served us promptly, and she was very attentive the entire time! Marcella is a jewel with great personality and an excellent bartender! Thank you Marcella for an amazing dining experience! We'll see you soon! Rosa & Gem

Mark M.

Yelp
Good Tex-Mex with mediocre service and nice cocktails, which are a bit overpriced but decent.
