Girlies if you looking for good and affordable hair salon this is the place. I’ve been coming to this place for 4 years and my favorite hair stylist is Ana. I’m very picky when it comes to my hair and it is very hard for me to find someone who understands what I would like to have done how to cut it etc. She never disappointed me! From short cuts to long hair. From dark hair to highlights to balayage. I even did keratin on my hair with her. I’m very pleased with the outcome. Very friendly environment with positive energy so I wouldn’t think twice when it comes to book my appointment. Highly recommended

This is definitely a budget hair place I tried on a whim for a basic trim .If you’re used to more upscale salons I would avoid this place. For example, they literally just washed my hair and cut it while it was soaking wet. There was no dry cut finessing at all, which made it look I took a scissor and chopped off my ponytail. When I came back to get it fixed, I specifically requested Maria twice, on the phone and in person, and they gave me the same person to fix my hair (even though they confirmed Maria on the phone). Like why would I want the person who messed it up fix it?! It was full and I felt very uncomfortable so I made do but it felt unprofessional and sneaky (see pic for the final result of my ends). Overall, it was a horrible experience for me but two stars due to price ($65) and how everyone seems very friendly. But If you actually want a good haircut, I would stay far away.

I’ve been at Maria’s Hair Salon 5 times already and I won’t change it for anything. Anya is so caring and I love how they ask what you want and take their time to do what you need. My hair is growing so healthy. Is cash only, make sure you tip your hair stylist!!

Maria's Hair Salon is an absolute gem in Brooklyn. I was recommended to come here from a coworker and it is one of the best recommendations I have received. Ania is AMAZINNNGGG - I have come here twice, once for a half head of highlights, and most recently for a full head of highlights, and a cut and blow dry. Both times I have been SO HAPPY with my hair. Ania is truly a visionary, and I am so glad to have this salon to trust with my hair.

Maria’s hair salon is such a gem. This was my second time going here and I am so happy with my results. I worked with the male stylist Leo, and he did such a great job. A cut, highlights, and blow dry was $170 not at all bad and so happy with my results. Will 1000000% be returning :) thank you Maria’s hair salon!!!!! We all appreciate you :)

Can't recommend enough! Best salon I've been to in the city and I've tried several closer to me. The price was very reasonable and the stylist did exactly what I wanted. She cut the perfect length and perfect amount on my bangs. Will definitely be back for any future cuts!

I love Maria's Hair Salon!! I've been here three times now, and each time I go everyone there is always so kind and welcoming. The most recent time I went I realized when I got home I didn't like the hair style I chose, I went back in today and my stylist added face-framing layered pieces, and love my hair now! Also fixed it free of charge! Such an affordable place as well for a wash and haircut.

Please do not give curly-haired customers to stylists that do not know how to cut curly hair. I was supposed to get a cut from Anya yesterday (who is amazing) but was passed on to someone else who gave me a horrible haircut. She cut tons off in all the wrong places, and ignored my concerns expressed throughout the cut by saying "you said you wanted it shorter". My hair genuinely looks terrible. I asked for layers and it is completely choppy and unblended. I don't know how I'm going to be able to get this fixed without cutting much more hair off.

Maria's Hair Salon is a busy, local shop that sees a bit of foot traffic. I couldn't find a number for them online, so I went in person to make my appointment for two days later. The staff was friendly and professional. I want to caveat this review by saying I have extremely low expectations for my haircuts and am very easy going about how the individual cuts it. The thing that stopped this from being 5 stars for me, was they washed my hair so quickly and it did not feel very thorough. I'm not too upset about it but I think it was a little off putting to start our session that way. I provided a reference photo, which they didn't reaaally look at, but I still ended up fairly happy with my results. I got a shoulder length cut with some long layers and face framing pieces, so it was pretty basic. The woman that cut my hair did so in like 15 minutes which was crazy. She washed, cut, dried, and styled my hair all in maybe 40? I was so impressed by the speed. I had heard it was pretty cheap previously so I didn't ask for the exact pricing, but before tip it was around $40-45. If you've been in NYC for some time you'll understand how gleeful I left knowing they didn't vacuum my wallet here. I think if you're pickier about your hair or have really high expectations, maybe this won't be the best fit, but I think it's worth a try!

I wanted a haircut, wash and blowout for my birthday party later that evening. I made an appointment about a week prior. It was very obvious that they were behind schedule and the stylist who ended up doing my hair was not the person I was scheduled with. The haircut itself was fine but everything else was disappointing. It was clear she was trying to rush through my appointment to get to walk in clients and other appointments who were waiting. Issue #1: They didn't know what my appointment was for. Issue #2: The hair "wash" took like 2 minutes, she basically just slapped shampoo on my head and rinsed it off. Issue #3: I asked for a blowout with LOTS of volume - my hair is flat and falls easily. I said I was going out and wanted the hair to last and showed photos of what I wanted the blowout to look like. She just basically ignored what I said, did a very very basic blow out and then brushed it through and didn't use hair spray. By the end of the appointment I was just frustrated and went home and did it myself, which was my biggest issue: I'm coming here for something I can't do at home, and felt like I was an inconvenience to the staff. The price is good here but it's worth it to go somewhere else.

I haven't had my hair professionally cut since before the pandemic, and have been getting my hair cut by my MIL. So I wanted to start the new year and treat myself for a cut, wash and blow dry here at Maria's based on my coworker's recommendation. I've been so happy with my experience with Agatha that I truly feel so refreshed! My appointment was at 1:30PM and I was sitting in the hair washing seat 5 minutes later. Agatha was super attentive, sweet, and truly meticulous at making sure she was pleased with my hair. She checked in periodically with how I liked the length and if I wanted more feathering angles in the front to frame my face. This place is clean, bright, and busy for a reason! I'll be back regularly!

Called made an appointment. I went in early actually and they serviced me right away. I got a haircut with agata she was very kind and quick. Asked how I wanted my cut and she definitely did a great job. I will definitely be back.

New favorite salon! My hair is long & thick and I typically spend a minimum of 2 hrs in a salon, but Julia washed, cut, & blew out my hair in less than an hour and a half!! She also gave me the exact hair cut as what I had showed her photos of. Definitely will be back here!!

Tried giving this salon the benefit of the doubt after not being thrilled the first time. They have so many good reviews so I went back to save $$ and get my bangs and split ends cleaned up... It was like he took a hacksaw to my head with the thinning sheers. When I pointed out the unevenly cut bangs he proceeded to "fix" it by continuing to thin them out and cut them even shorter until I physically pulled my head away because I couldn't believe what was happening. I walked out with uneven bangs on one side of my head and thinned out janky/layered looking bangs in the front. I know people love this place but I paid $75 to completely destroy of my hair. Then had to pay $200 for keratin and a cut to fix it. He did a great job on the blowout though, if that's what you need I'd say go for it.

Prices: Outstanding. Some staff friendly. Ledge-like, lumpy, unflattering layers complete with an uneven hair outline that dated me 20 years. I truly look uglier, outdated and frumpy. Rudeness: I was told "we can't do plastic surgery," your hair is frizzy. OK then.

My first time here. I got a same-day appointment and was seen right away by Teresa. I needed a new style but had no idea what I really wanted. She listened carefully to what I do and do not like and my extremely minimalist styling routine, confirmed the length I wanted, and made a suggestion that sounded sort of okay and turned out amazing! When she was done, I had one small comment, and a few quick snips later my hair was even more amazing. The place is very clean and bright, super friendly, small and no-frills. If you want a trendy salon with a free cappuccino and designer decor, this is not the place. But what I really want from a hair salon is a great cut, not a great coffee. I can get coffee elsewhere. Meanwhile, I got a great haircut for less than $50 here. (It's cash only, so come prepared.)

I came in as a walk-in on a Monday around 5:45pm and they were able to take me right away. I told my hair dresser that I wanted a straight cut and showed her some photos as an example. She told me it was not a problem and got started right away. While she was cutting my hair, she stopped to make sure I liked the length throughout the process. I was very pleased with the end result and I felt like I was in and out! They give quality cuts here at a great price! I definitely will return next time I want a haircut.

Went here for the first time last Wednesday. I needed my base color corrected , wanted extra hi lights, and a trim. My appointment was with Leo. While waiting, I watched him cut hair and style and I felt more at ease. I showed him what I wanted and he was honest about the upkeep of such light hair, and I knew he was right. So he basically knew what I wanted and adjusted it to make it easier for me to keep up with and not damage my hair in the process! The base color and highlights were perfect and the cut gave my hair so much volume! He is also amazing when it comes to blow drying/styling. Super nice and great conversation too! Will definitely be going back to my old neighborhood to get my hair done by Leo again!

Scheduled a haircut after reading the reviews and Agata took care of me. She gave me lots of blended layers and face-framing pieces. I'm so happy with it and will be returning!

Great cut and treatment, but I will not be returning... My usual salon was closed today, so I decided to try Maria's, I'd been there before and was happy with the cut I got. So I decided to try a walk-in appointment there. I needed a deep condition/trim, and the male stylist there took me on and washed, conditioned, and trimmed my hair. I was very happy with the service, and my stylist and I were discussing routine and tips for my hair texture. I'm a mixed race woman with 3A/3C curly hair. When I informed him that I sleep with a satin cap at night he exclaimed "That's perfect! Call yourself Shaniqua!" After an awkward silence he told me "Sorry, you know what I mean though." He then proceeds to list off New York fashion trends he hates like "pajamas outside, pacifiers, men with satin caps on", all thinly-veiled "ghetto" and racist stereotypes. This man looked to be roughly in his mid 50s or so, and I was the only non-white person in the room. I was very satisfied with my service, but I would encourage any people (especially women) of color to take their business elsewhere.

Amazing place! I came in not entirely sure what I wanted to do with my hair outside of lightening it. Maria gave me incredible guidance and on what to do, and it turned out BEAUTIFUL. Everyone there was so sweet and I had such a good time. Really reasonable price too. Can't say how happy I am with the results. Will be back again soon!

Literally one of the best places to get a haircut. 45 for wash cut blow dry. Cash only (wish they took cards, yeah) The salon is owned by a cheerful, positive woman who kindly receives you and there is cheerful banter all around while you are there. She cuts hair but I got my hair done by Pablo who is literally one of the best stylists I have ever worked with. He patiently listened to what I wanted, gave me a killer cut and took a long time to style. He was so incredibly patient, what a find. I'll be back here for all my haircuts. Seriously.

My first time at Maria's Hair Salon and I'll be back! Cynthia did my hair- taking my roots to a platinum blonde and a bob cut. The color turned out fantastic as did the cut. She's wonderful! The price was very fair and it was easy to book an appointment. Salon is no frills. The energy and people that work there seem to be happy and just nice! I overheard another stylist advising a client who didn't seem to know what she wanted but the stylist was SO patient and helped her figure out by showing lots of color swatches, asking questions etc. The stylists seem to really care in a genuine way. Lovely spot!

I really needed a haircut badly and this happened to be near my work. I only wanted a haircut because I don't like using different shampoos and conditioners on my hair. Haircut was $35 and don't in about 30 minutes. I showed a picture and the hairstylist did it. Quick and fairly priced.

I've been coming here for years and have never had a bad haircut. I have a blonde pixie cut and started bleaching it here a few years ago. I always get compliments on my hair. Everyone at Maria's is so sweet and does an amazing job.

I used to go to Maria's Hair Salon prior to the Covid pandemic on a regular basis. For the past two years I started going to another Hair Salon in Manhattan. I started disliking several things that the owner my Hairstylist was doing. Long story short I stopped going there. I actually let my hair just grow longer, and never colored it. Yesterday I decided to finally go back to Maria's Hair Salon for a haircut, root touch-up and blow out. When I arrived at the salon, I recognized the stylist that would be cutting my hair, which made me so happy. I last saw Cynthia, my hair stylist back in 2020, when my hair stylist then, Pablo was training her. Cynthia Gomez did such an amazing job on my hair.I just love the color that Maria had recommended that Cynthia use on me. I was totally satisfied with the haircut that Cynthia gave me. I am so happy that I chose to go back to Maria's Hair Salon, ahead of going elsewhere. I highly recommend this salon. I noted yesterday how busy the Salon was, as it was Friday. All the hair stylist were doing an amazing job on their customers, many customers left very happy and satisfied with the service they received there, and I was one of them .Last but not least, I posted photos of my haircut on my Facebook page, and received so many positive comments on my haircut. I also have to mention that after my haircut, I went to eat at a Polish restaurant, I frequently would go to, Christina's Polish Restaurant. The owner Christina commented on how beautiful it looked, she asked me where I got the haircut, and I said Maria's Hair Salon, she really liked it. I will also do a review on Google. I definitely will keep going back to Maria's Hair Salon., in Greenpoint Brooklyn NY.

I had a great experience here! I was late and I felt so bad about it but they were very kind and understanding. They understood my desires for my hair and gave me a great cut at a very low price for the city. They are friendly, professional, and very talented!

Wow. I came here because of a recommendation from a friend as I didn't want to spend an arm and a leg for a haircut for my long hair. AMAZING service and gave me exactly what I wanted only better. Very reasonably priced and very nice people. I cannot recommend this place enough!

I went in with an idea of what I wanted and my stylist recommended a color that matched my skin color. She was so professional and so quick. She asked for my input! Best of all it was only $120 with cut and blow out included. I've paid so much more for the same amount of time spent. Will never go anywhere else.

I can not recommend Maria's Hair Salon enough... I've been living in NY for 4 years now and this is by far the BEST salon I have been to in the city / Brooklyn... so attentive, thorough, caring and beyond affordable. Like.... So affordable I can't believe it. I got a balayage with Ania and she gave me exactly what I wanted and more. She also really takes into account the health of your hair and educates on best ways to maintain the color and brightness. I can't wait to come back!!

I've had great experiences with Maria's. I had two haircuts here in the past few months. It's really easy to make an appointment. The staff and hair professionals are friendly and easy to work with. I got my hair cut by Pablo both times and he does a fantastic job - he really listens and makes sure you like the cut and my hair looks fantastic. I asked for a un unusual style - diagonal bangs, and he did exactly what I asked. He also did a great job layering my hair - it feels so much lighter without having to cut it shorter and looks much more vibrant. Great job all around.

Inconspicuous salon with old school Greenpoint charm and super talented colorists. I've overlooked Maria's for years, but after stumbling upon their Instagram (they don't have much of a social media presence - don't let that scare you off!) and seeing a few promising before and after photos, I decided to give them a chance. No regrets! I received full highlights from Ania. She did a brilliant job of brightening up my mousy, dark brown roots and creating a ton of texture. Oh, and they're *affordable*, too. My entire service, full highlights and a trim, was only $140. So glad I came across this neighborhood gem.

Although I hate to write this because Anna was very nice, I am extremely unhappy with the result and feel the need to share my experience. I found Maria's Hair Salon after searching for affordable hair salons near the city, so I gave it a shot after reading good reviews, and the fact that I was able to schedule an appointment on such short notice. When I got there, I presented a picture exactly of what I wanted done with my hair -- a blonde balayage and she said she understood. She obviously did not. I previously had a balayage done in my hair 4 months ago which was grown out at this point, so I just wanted her to touch it up, fix the roots and brighten up the highlights. What I got was 3 platinum blonde, large, chunky streaks near the front of my face, but not even highlighting my face. These streaks also didn't even go near my roots, and already look a bit grown out. Not to mention, this part of my hair is now all dead and pieces have broken off, leaving short dead strands. As for the rest of my hair, COMPLETELY UNEVEN color nowhere near my roots like I had asked. In addition, the color of these "highlights" was basically orange. So now I have my dirty blonde roots, a platinum blonde chunk near the front of my face, and uneven orange highlights throughout the rest of my hair. I now have to pay more than double the price that I originally paid to have this fixed at a different salon. I will not be returning here, and I HIGHLY recommend finding a different salon if you plan to color your hair.

I googled hair salon and Maria's came up in greenpoint Brooklyn where I was visiting and honestly i sent maria a text she responded immediately!I then went into Maria's hair salon and met pablo and I let him know that I wanted a bob cut I showed pablo the picture I wanted and he aced it!I fell on love with his personality!!He was absolutely awesome and I loved the cut and the price was even better!!Ladies if your nervous about cutting your hair and you know what you want check out pablo and tell him sophia sent u!

Just received a wonderful haircut from sweet Anna. She gave me exactly the layered trim that I described. She is a very talented and kind hairdresser. Maria's salon has a relaxed and friendly vibe. The salon is clean and bright. This place is a refreshing authentic, non-pretentious and neighborhood gem. So glad to connect with Maria's salon and Anna.

BEWARE! NOT PROFESSIONAL!! IF YOU WANT AN EVEN HAIRCUT, DO NOT GET YOUR HAIR CUT HERE. I came here over a month ago and got my hair sorted out after a year of shaving it. Orelis cut my hair but doesn't work here anymore. I decided to go back anyways. Big mistake and the worse salon experience of my life. Today, I went in to get a basic trim. The woman who cut my hair does not know how to cut hair. She does not know how to cut a straight line. She DESTROYED my bangs (and I actually really liked them before this). The right side of my bangs are cut back to my ear and they are so uneven...the left side is on a downward slope. It's going to take at least two years for this to grow out. They are terrrrrible. I was so upset upon leaving this place that I demanded my money back and told the woman not to cut anyone else's hair. She should NOT have a job in cosmetology. Soooooooo pissed. Beware.

I haven't been to a salon in over 15 years and am very untrusting of hairdressers because in the past they have never listened to me. But the gentleman (not sure of his name--I was so in my head I forgot to ask!! Help!)--who cut my hair was patient and listened to me. He was very friendly and sweet and I felt I was in good hands. I got a trim and long layers and it looks great! Very thankful to have found this place. It's low key, not pretentious or intimidating like some salons in this neighborhood can be. Thank you!!

Made a same-day appointment to get my long hair trimmed. Teresa gave me exactly what I needed - took off the dry ends and added a little layering. In and out in 15 min and very reasonably priced. Highly recommend and would come back for sure.

I made an appointment on Yelp at Maria's Salon ahead of time and had a great first experience there. Cynthia cut my hair to donate, exactly how I envisioned it. For Asian hair, it is not always easy to get it right but she did a wonderful job with the layers and bangs. Everyone was super friendly, wearing masks and there was distance between the chairs. Would highly recommend!

This is such a diamond in the rough - beyond pleased and the price is pure joy. My stylist was conscientious and amicable as well as knowledgeable about my hair type, best design for my face and problem solved my uneven growth and shattered ends. Cannot wait to return

Maria's Salon is no longer a secret in Greenpoint. I had 4 people recommending her skills to me when I asked around. And they all were right. So happy to have found my favorite new hairdresser!

After horrible experience at Bull in the Heather salon,I went here and omggg what an amazing place ,the owner Maria was wonderful ,sweet ,detailed and took care of me ,she did my highlights and cut and recommended me nice leave in treatment without force ,what a wonderful experience ,my hair never looked better and price wise very reasonable ,I'll be going here from now on,Highly Recommended

Lets start from the beginning. I emailed the salon to make an appointment and they responded same day saying that they had openings that day. When I walked into the salon they were friendly and had me in the chair straight away . While discussing my color they were very clear and open about what they were doing and the color turned out great. After that I had my hair cut and all I had to do was show her a picture of what I wanted and she gave me exactly what I asked for. ON TOP OF THAT the whole haircut and color cost $110...how have I not been here before. Anna did a fantastic job and everyone was very friendly. Would recommend 10/10
