While I love to frequent mom and pop shops, there's always a lingering thought about their food either being really good or just made its mark in time and never progressed. If you think about it, usually its either or. I've been given great recommendations to establishments but upon experiencing it firsthand, completely the opposite which feel into my initial thought. At one point, this was probably one of the go-to spots for great delicious Italian dishes. From the quaint decor to the subtle pace of service, I would have wanted to love this place upon entering. Service was friendly and engaging. Our table loved that about our host. Aside from the delay of getting our bill, which was understandable since it was during dinner hour, service, engagement, and checkups were stellar.
The main highlight came down to the food. Garlic knots didn't have the appeal one would expect. It was quite greasy, and the bread did not have much character to it. Upon consuming, it immediately became an afterthought at best. I had noodles for lunch so I opted for the chopped salad with crispy chicken. While the chopped salad was fine, the chicken was room temperature, dry, and actually made the dish worse. It was better off without it but then, I'll lack the protein that I was looking for. Blood Orange Pellegrino helped quite a bit throughout the meal. I asked my coworkers and they all thought it was lackluster. Salt was added and crush pepper was introduced just to make it bearable.
While I had hopes for this establishment, I would recommend they evaluate their quality and even perhaps get it more current in regard to the flavor index.
Best of luck to this establishment. It will be a while before I visit them again.
