15 Best Restaurants in Atlantic City at the Jersey Shore | Eater Philly

"Fast and classic defines this local favorite diner on Atlantic Avenue. You’ll occasionally face a wait to get a table, but the line moves fast and it’s worth it for simple, all-day old-school breakfasts like French toast platters, pancakes, and steak and eggs." - Annemarie Dooling

Google
This was our go-to breakfast place while we were at Atlantic City. The food here is delicious and very affordable. I ordered the Maria’s Belgian Waffle delight for both days I was here and it was out of the world. I love sweet breakfast when on vacation and this checks all the boxes - fresh fruits, ice cream, waffle and whipped cream combined to perfection. My husband ate the salty ones like omelette, potatoes, french toast etc and they were all equally delicious. Highly recommend when in Atlantic City!

Walked into Maria’s Luncheonette and Baaaam! This place was packed, buzzing, and smelled like heaven. The staff was all amazing, but special shoutout to Joseline, my waitress. She was so kind, so smiley, she made our morning even better. The food? I almost swallowed my tongue. Fluffy eggs, huge omelets, crispy bacon, perfect pancakes- every bite was pure happiness on a plate. I remember it and want to eat again! No frills, just amazing diner vibes, stuff, and food. Five stars. Full belly. Big smile. I’m definitely coming back.

After bringing in the new year with my family my parents and I decided to get breakfast before heading home. We found Maria’s Luncheonette and decided to dine in. When we got there we could tell that the business was definitely booming for this restaurant. We had to wait a little over twenty minutes to be seated at the counter. It was busy and crowded with people filling all the tables and DoorDash orders coming in and out. It was a nice atmosphere with friendly customer service and delicious smelling food. The breakfast I got was good but nothing too special. It came to hot and ready to eat. The only thing I didn’t like was that my grits weren’t the best. If you’re looking for a decent sized meal for a decent price, I would recommend.

We just love Maria's Luncheonette. The food is always quality and the service is fantastic. Our daughter (who is a picky eater) loves all of the food. Definitely recommend you try it out. You won't be disappointed. The servings are generous and the prices are really reasonable.

While staying in AC, I came here for breakfast one morning. The place was packed and the service was great! I was able to score a table without a wait. There was lots of carry-out business going on during my stay. The food is typical diner fare for breakfast. The prices were really nice. The venue is typical (for a “row house” type diner) and spacious. They have lots of hot sauce options!! I tried a side dish of their corned beef hash (which is the typical “Hormel” style) done extra crispy and it came out perfect! Next up was the plain bagel with egg, cheese, & beef sausage breakfast sandwich, which was excellent and very fresh & tasty!!! Like I mentioned, service was great too… she kept an eye on my needs and they topped off coffee as needed. I can see why the reviews are so good… this place is definitely worth visiting!

Had some extra time while visiting the Impressions Expo in Atlantic City so we decided to grab breakfast. Found this sweet little place on google and decided to try it. We were not disappointed. I got the eggs, home fries, toast and bacon. Great taste, eggs were cooked perfect (I am fussy about them) and the bacon was so yummy! Would happily return.

Yelp
Stopped by this cozy breakfast spot after checking out at a local hotel. Food was delicious and enjoyable. Service was great. Highly recommend to anyone in the area that is looking for some yummy breakfast. 10/10.

Yelp
This place is mediocre and priced okay. I'm Not sure what's the great deal about this place. The wait is long and the place is not the most sanitary either

Yelp
This is our second trip as we were here last time between Christmas and New Years. This is an Atlantic City hidden gem with wonderful food and service. I had a bacon omelette with home fries and toast. The omelette was chock full of bacon and cheese overflow the eggs. This was perfectly cooked and was simply great. My wife had French Toast and scrambled eggs. Both were cooked great and she really enjoyed them. The others at the table had an omelette, and eggs and corned beef hash. The corned beef was cooked perfectly and everyone at the table was impressed with their food. The is a quaint little place with a constant flow of people in and out. The service is quick and servers were very attentive with details of simple things like refilling coffee. And that's a key item for this coffee lover There were just a few meals over $12 and plenty of options for all. Save your money and hit this gem hard!

Yelp
I just ordered a breakfast sandwich on Uber eats and it came with no eggs. I literally spent $30 for two sandwiches and two orange juices and didn't even get my freaking eggs. It's so ridiculous.

Yelp
Nothing special - certainly nothing worth waiting outside on Atlantic Avenue for... good homestyle breakfast food, but no 'must have' menu item that you'll return for time and again. Service was good, ambiance nothing to speak of - but if you crave eggs and bacon, the prices certainly are cheaper than the casinos - unless you have comps, that is.

Yelp
Could be THE BEST corned beef hash and home fries I've ever had *drool* (And I've eaten a lot of CBH & home fries xD )

Yelp
Great place for breakfast off the boardwalk and within walking distance of main strip

Yelp
First time passing through, cute atmosphere, polite, friendly service, and food came out very fast. Sadly, the flavor and seasoning level of their basics ranged from mid to low, but their bananas foster was tasty and one of the few items worth their money besides the orange juice and a corned beef hash, which came at a good portion size. Do not get the Homefries 2/10 Completely unseasoned and tastes strongly of the water it seems they boil them all the way through with b4 frying them slightly. Tried adding salt and pepper but did not improve flavor French toast 4/10 bland on their own like there's no sugar in the dredge, Small portion size Bananas foster 8/10 Highly recommend Pancakes 6/10 Taste like box pancakes, normal Sausage links 6/10 Small portion, unseasoned, but OK Everything else in photos ok

Yelp
Quaint lil diner on the block. Greeted immediately and seated within minutes. Food came out quickly. Now. Bypass the "home fries". I should have went with the pancake sandwich. Food is what the kids say, Mid. Service on point though!

Yelp
Saw the crowds one day in AC and looking to eat off the property we were staying at. Luckily didn't have to wait too long for a table to have brunch. The menu sounded promising with a variety of dishes. While the portions were fair, we did find it underwhelming for the cost. Probably still saved money while having a fair meal off property. They offer the classics, eggs, steak, sausage, bacon, home fries, fries, etc. Pay attention to where you park as it could be a bit misleading which lot was for their patrons. Limited spots available and limited street parking.

Yelp
Sandwiches were delicious, Croissants were cooked with love Service was amazing and the waitress was friendly. Loud and crowded place but definitely chill vibes.

Yelp
This place is amazing. The people who work there first class. Such respectful people. The food is amazing and affordable. The best packages I have ever ate. I went and picked up breakfast to go. Amazing.

Yelp
I had the breakfast platter. Wife ate my pancake. It is small place and very friendly. It. Looks like it was family run. I like the bacon as it was thick. Pancakes were good. Wife ate the home fries and they were pretty good. If you want a small cozy place this it it. Service was great. Parking was only a few spot next to the building and paid street parking. Road is semi busy.

Yelp
I wasn't really a fan of the food I wouldn't return. However, the service was good and the staff were friendly.

Yelp
Sandwiched between Pho Sydney and White House Subs is Maria's Luncheonette. Stepping foot inside, you hear the latest pop music playing. We naturally picked a table towards the back because most of the tables in the front appeared to be occupied. The breakfast menu is basic, kind of like a mini iHop. Service was wonderful, friendly staff and very attentive to our needs. Ketchup, butter, jams, salts are all on the table. However, the food was meh. I got the French toast deluxe platter. The toast was the best part, add a little butter. The bacon wasn't super crispy, just a bit. Unfortunately, I felt the hash browns were very dry and lacked flavor. Even if you add ketchup to the hash browns, it still didn't make up for the bland flavor. Not crispy either.

Yelp
Great local place in AC for breakfast. Had the short stack. Excellent coffee to boot. Good service! #Endorsed

Yelp
WARNING: be aware of hidden costs. The waiter had asked if we would be okay with peppers and onions on our home fries, to which we said yes. Come to find out, they charged us extra for peppers and onions on the home fries without telling us. The way she framed the question made it sound like it was a default ingredient in the home fries. She didn't tell us it'd be an extra cost. So ridiculous, home fries are usually made with onions and peppers, who charges extra for that...
google avatar

Yelp
The perfect breakfast joint, family owned fresh food not greasy and amazing prices They have plenty of options and everything you can imagine including great combo platters. Only reason why I'm giving it a four versus five is because the pancakes were OK. And it was a bit loud.
google avatar

Yelp
Dear reader, this is the type of establishment where you have to bring your check to the cash register when you're ready to leave. They don't make that clear when they give you the check. That's why I'm telling you now. Very busy place for brunch! Our table really enjoyed the waffles and the scrapple as well as the pork roll and complete breakfast. The pancakes in the complete breakfast were surprisingly amazing. The blueberries were juicy and big on the waffle and it was a delight to have dined here!

Elvia S.

Yelp
Great service and excellent breakfast Good price but parking is small but good food. The people are very cordial .

Yelp
Sadly, I don't remember much about the atmosphere of this restaurant. I know our server was nice and I really enjoyed my pancakes. I prefer to use honey on my pancakes and they did provide me with some. Now, the scrambled eggs...... Not sure about what anyone else do, but I'm from the South, and we scramble the cheese into the eggs instead of dropping a slice on top. It does make a difference in taste. They were generous with the amount protein given. The bacon wasn't extra crispy, just how I like it. I'm not sure about the sausage as I gave it to my friend. Oh, the hot chocolate was served right. Plenty of whipped cream on top to thicken it up for me.

Yelp
If you're staying at a nearby hotel, and you need a hangover cure hit this place up for delivery

Yelp
Small little diner that serves breakfast like foods. It's a little bit of a hole in the wall, but the service is good and food comes out fast. I had a simple croissant bacon egg and cheese, the cost was about $6-7 bucks which is really fair considering the times. Perfect place to grab a quick bite without breaking the bank.

Yelp
Best thing I ate in AC. Went here for breakfast. Nice luncheonette with everything you need on a breakfast menu. The French toast and omelet were great. Reasonably priced and nice service people.

Yelp
Great little place right by hotels in Atlantic City if you don't want to pay a lot for breakfast in the hotels which can be very pricey. Place is cute not fancy but don't let that fool you. Great menu with nice selections and reasonable . Our omelettes were delicious and loaded with ingredients and home fries tasty o. Service was very good and coffee was great. Looking forward to trying pancakes and French toast next time .

Yelp
Reasonably priced for AC, very tight space if u decide to dine in. I visited 6 years ago from today and The establishment definitely could use an upgrade. staff is very busy so don't expect them to wait on you with attentiveness. I have No complaints about the food.

Yelp
Classic breakfast just when you need it! We came here after a bachelorette night out for some much needed coffee and breakfast. There was a short wait, but our server took our order expeditiously. We were all happy with our food, but the home fries could use more seasoning. Definitely add some green peppers and/or onions! My vegetable omelette was stuffed well and added some flavor to the home fries. The rest of the group gave a thumbs up to the Belgian waffles. Thanks to our Airbnb host for the recommendation!
google avatar

Yelp
Great little breakfast spot! We have only gotten taken but always great and inexpensive. I like that they have Turkey sausage too. The inside Is nothing special sort of an old diner feel but I would sit in there sometime. Nice family owned business.
google avatar

Rose M.

Yelp
Good was good. Small place go early or at least drop your name & they'll text you when your table is ready. Food was really good, I got an open face turkey sandwich special.

Cyndi M.

Yelp
The service was excellent as well as the food. Very friendly, efficient and attentive.

Yelp
The parking lot is a tight space, I would park on the street. The service was fast and the food didn't disappoint.

Yelp
Very good food. Hot and steamy home fries with peppers and onions. Pancake. Pork roll egg n cheese. Bacon, egg n cheese. Coffee hot and very good. Server Diana very pleasant and efficient. Good crowd. Families and couples.

Christine N.

Yelp
Food was tasty but a bit on the pricier side, still prices were reasonable. It can get a bit busy in the afternoon though, and restaurant can get packed. Service was good, friendly servers.

Yelp
I came here for brunch with a group of friends and it was a great choice! Although there are several seats inside, there aren't too many tables that seat larger parties (we were a party of 6). We were lucky since we were seated almost immediately. Inside, it definitely gave off mom and pop vibes. Everything on the menu were also at affordable prices with a good selection of classic breakfast items such as pancakes and omelettes to a variety of sandwiches. The service was also fairly quick and the portions were big! Although it was a simple breakfast spot, the food was great! It definitely hit the spot for all of us. The omelettes have a good amount of filling, the home fries were crispy on the edges but soft on the inside, the toast is perfectly warm and maintains its fluff on the inside, and the sandwiches are great as well! You can't go wrong with a classic breakfast platter but if you want to opt for a more lunch-style meal, I recommend the executive club! It's huge with lots of layers. Overall, great breakfast spot with large portions and very affordable. You will definitely walk out satisfied.

Yelp
Cute breakfast spot near the strip. Frequent by locals. Great service! Traditional breakfast menu
google avatar

Gigi S.

Yelp
Sooooo yummy!! Food is fresh & authentic. Taste like good ole homemade breakfast. The corned beef hash is really good
google avatar

Angela D.

Yelp
Hidden gem! From the looks of it, I wasn't expecting much, but my breakfast was sooooooo good! Everything tasted really fresh. I never know if I should get pancakes or French toast because some places don't know how to cook French toast; however, this place has the best French toast I've had in YEARS! Definitely worth getting the French toast. The eggs were fresh, the potatoes were delicious and the turkey sausage was full of flavor. I got the French toast meal and my boyfriend got the Spanish omelet and fully enjoyed it. The place didn't seem super clean so that's why I didn't give it 5 stars. We were able to get a table right away but soon after that, there was a wait.
google avatar

Eric D.

Yelp
This place was very disappointing given its reviews and the service was just plain bad. We got in around noon and food took forever to come and nearly the entire time we got a vibe as if we were bothering them. My girlfriend tried to use the bathroom at one pm and was told we're closing it for cleaning and had half the chairs up on the tables with more than an hour to go before closing time. No checking on us for drinks or to go boxes and they refused to split the check as asked for our convenience. Food was below average and needed ketchup for nearly everything. Not worth the time or money spent here. Wouldn't recommended.

Yelp
Visited Maria's Luncheonette which is near the Atlantic City outlets. Its a super small restaurant and was pretty crowded when I arrived. I was opting to eat in the car regardless so it didn't make a big difference for me that it was a bit crowded in the restaurant though the crowding definitely did not allow for social distancing if you were dining in. I placed my order with the staff and then waited in the car for about 10-15 minutes. I went back in to pick up my order and everything was waiting and ready. I ordered the breakfast platter which came with choice of two eggs, bacon and sausage meats, potatoes, pancakes, and butter and syrup. It was plenty of food for the price and I was satisfied with everything I had. My husband got a sizeable breakfast sandwich which he enjoyed very much as well. Felt like a slightly nicer diner kind of experience. I'd go back again for a hearty breakfast.
google avatar

Crystal B.

Yelp
Welcoming you in with the smell of a homemade breakfast being cooked early on a Saturday morning, Maria's is a quaint, "Mom & Pop" all day breakfast spot, serving your favorite diner style plates & platters. If you're looking for a traditional Jersey diner experience -- scrambled eggs with the cheese melted on top, home fries, and a "the locals eat here" vibe stop by! The staff is friendly, the food comes out hot and in a timely manner. The menu has great options and offers low prices - $25 or less will easily get you a full breakfast for two. Located about 10 minutes driving distance from the boardwalk, Maria's offers free parking and indoor dining that seats 2-4 people per table. Enjoy!
google avatar

Carmella G.

Yelp
A friend at worked suggested and boy were we glad that went. The food was reasonably priced, the service was good and the food was delicious. The only issues that I had was that the restroom was out of order so we couldn't wash our hands let alone use the toilet, that part was extremely unprofessional especially for a RESTAURANT. Also just make sure that you check you bill, I had a bad habit of just paying for stuff and luckily I didn't at this moment they made a mistake on my bill so instead of me paying $95.56 I only have to pay $45.32 they charged me for 45 orders of French, but it was an easy fix....lol. I would definitely go back!!!!
google avatar

Lala B.

Yelp
Food wasn't all that great. French toast was regular. Eggs taste fake and home fries are dry. Pretty over rated to me. The service was ok. The ambiance is old and a little out dated. A little dusty and smells of mildew
google avatar

Desiree D.

Yelp
Second time's a charm, maybe? Despite how packed Maria's was on a saturday morning, our wait time was quick and service was good. Home fries? i appreciated the serving sizes, but werent cooked well. i feel they needed another minute or two. Coffee was nasty. The egg and cheese on a roll was good. My friend said, but how can you screw that up? trust me, you can. but maria's cooked the cheese nice and well and it hit the spot. I think its a good place to grab a quick bite after the shit show of a night in AC, but i think its over rated in comparison to other reviews.
google avatar

Bob L.

Yelp
Food was great. Staff was great!! If you're looking for breakfast in Ac ya gotta go there.
google avatar

Limi L.

Yelp
I wanted a good local brunch spot in AC and I came across this restaurant through Yelp. The place was cozy and I was able to get a table as soon as I arrived at the restaurant. Got the complete breakfast platter which has 2 pancakes, eggs, home fries, sausage, and bacon. This is the perfect breakfast plate for me. Got everything I wanted! Also ordered the meat lover breakfast sandwich which comes with a sausage patty, bacon, eggs, pork roll with a side of home fries. Delicious as well. I love supporting local! This place is a must when you are in AC! The service was amazing!
google avatar

Ayesha A.

Yelp
I ordered from here twice while visiting AC. I ordered online then went to the store to pickup. The process was very easy and the food was ready when I got there.
google avatar

Adrienne H.

Yelp
I'm not much of a breakfast person but this place has the best breakfast I ever tasted. The host and our server were great despite having to wait just a short period for the table. It's not very big but sometimes the best places are hidden gems!
google avatar

Chris B.

Yelp
Pretty chill spot. Come here every other time, and it never disappoints. My go tos are usually an omelette with home fries and toast a/ a side of sausage, or if I'm feeling a bit crazy , I'll get the chicken n waffles. Small yet simple! Would definitely come back ! P.s. I was gonna take a picture, then I realized I had ate all of it .
