I’ve been coming to this place for 47 years- my grandfather took me here and my mom used to take me here since I was born. I finally got a chance to come in with a new owners. I am so happy they’ve kept everything original. The pizza is actually a little bit better than it used to be. The service was wonderful and the place most perfectly charming inside an old school vintage pizzeria, the kind you can only get in the Midwest. I lived in New York City and the East Coast and Chicago and all over. This pizza is really really delicious. It’s unique it’s very thin and and there are a few pieces in the middle that are just a little floppy dash and that’s actually a compliment. The variety of textures, both thin and crispy and cheesy and soft or what makes this pizza very unique. The red ceiling, the red lights, the religious, and Jesus iconography on the walls make this place a set back in time. Currently they do not have alcohol or wine. Although I do wish they had nice crafts of wine. Maybe I’ll bring my own next time. I didn’t ask. Def love this place.

This may be the worst pizza I’ve ever had; it amazes me that they’re still in business. Every ingredient was bland, the crust was burnt on the edges and soggy in the middle, the canned mushrooms and raw onion appeared to have been put on after the pizza came out of the oven due to the fact that they weren’t cooked in the slightest and barely warm. 0/10 would not recommend

I've never been to Maria's when the original owners were open. It's my understanding that the new owners are using the original recipes. It's a nice little restaurant with a few tables to eat in. It's accessible, but you park on the street, and the entrance is in the front. Our waitress was very friendly, and the apps (garlic bread and eggplant sticks) arrived quickly and were delicious. We ordered the large special. Sausage, mushroom (canned), onion, green pepper, and black olive. The crust is very thin. The outer pieces are very crispy, in inner ones are not. It's a basic thin, tomato sauce, with grated parm and a sprinkle of mozzerella before the toppings are put on.

Old school classic dive atmosphere still in tact and friendly service. If you don’t know about the vibe and history of the place then you may not like it. Got the large pepperoni special and jalapeños poppers. The poppers were excellent. Some of the best I’ve had. The pizza was good but could have easily been better. Crust was light and flaky on the edges and sauce was zesty. However the mushrooms were mush and 2/3 of the pizza needed more time to get that flaky crisp all the way through. Maybe ask for it to be well done. This led to a VERY soft/floppy middle and barely cut slices. Had to recut the whole thing. No excuse, really, as the toppings were light. Also, go in earlier than they tell you for pickup to get a hotter pie. Ours was only warm and we got there on time. Staff needs more training to get consistency right. Consistency is key for any place and this currently falls short. Once that’s fixed I think this could be a great regular spot.

Went to check out the Hype at Maria’s Pizza. This was a different pizza experience without a doubt. Unsure of sure what’s in their pizza sauce or what should be in their pizza sauce. Either way, something is definitely missing in their sauce. The pizza sauce was very sparingly placed, very runny and had no flavor. With the minimal amount of sauce, there was nothing between the crust and top layer holding the pizza together causing the toppings to completely fall off. In some areas it was sauceless, other areas it was runny almost like the sauce was diluted. The outer edge of the pizza was burnt, center of the pizza crust soft. Not sure if the ovens weren’t working properly, but I definitely won’t be returning.

Google
I rather enjoyed this thin crust style pizza it was delicious. It was hot and sweaty no AC. I waited at one point for almost 25 minutes for a refill of my drink. I really wanted to like this place more but the atmosphere was rough. It looked like a cool venue but being 90° outside and not having any AC made for an uncomfortable dining environment at times. And waiting on some ice cold refreshing drinks in this atmosphere is unacceptable. I would go back and give it another try and a heartbeat cuz the pizza was that good.

Google
This is sad to say because I've been going to Maria's Pizza since I was 2 years old and im 59 now.My family has loved Maria's on seventh and Greenfield also on forest home.I have never had this bad of service or pizza in all these years. Sat down ordered a pizza and saw the cook wearing a spaghetti strap half shirt belly hanging out Breast Also hanging out no apron or a hairnet, only gloves on besides that. The pizza was not the same sauce. I took a bite and it was watery .I never ate a Maria's pizza drip like that before. Like I said, very sad to see how Maria's has turned out because it was a beloved family pizza place. We'll never be going back again.

Google
I have been eating Maria's Pizza my entire life. I started eating it when they were located on 7th and Greenfield and continued until they moved to the forest home location. Now with the new owners, the pizza is 90% as good as it used to be. It has been somewhat inconsistent since the new owners opened. Sometimes the toppings are minimal, sometimes they're heavy, sometimes the sauce is light, sometimes it's very heavy, sometimes the crust is burnt, sometimes it seems like it's not cooked enough. They need to get consistency back FAST before they lose long time customers who expect the same pizza that they've been eating since 1957.

Julie B.

Yelp
Amazing thin crust. Words fail me how delicious and authentic this pizza is. So much love in the food. The atmosphere is cozy and I love the Catholic and Elvis art everywhere. The service is stellar. The staff is so warm and friendly. We love this place.

Ann D.

Yelp
Has been our pizza fav for over 30 years -- the sauce (pizza and spaghetti ) are now sold locally at grocery stores and we are grateful!

Marty S.

Yelp
Ordered 2 large specials. One was black on the bottom [burned] what a waste of $25. The toppings were very skimpy and the sausage did not have the Italian seasoning it should. This is my second time now since Bonnie Sue sold the recipe and it is nothing like it use to be. I will never go back. Any pizza in milw. would be better. It was an institution that is no more. There use to be people lined up to get the pizza when it opened and now the customers are just a trickle. 60 year customer and won't be going back. It is sad and feel sorry for the place that can't carry on the pizza that was so fantastic. South side Marty

Yelp
Old school milwaukee tavern style pizza. Takes cards now. Try finding the bathroom but who cares. Decor is 70s Italian - Jesus everywhere

Darlene J.

Yelp
The pizza was burnt. The only thing you could taste was burnt. Not worth the money. We always used to come to Maria's and knew it would change a little but...not like this.

Donald W.

Yelp
No taste. No sauce, very few toppings. Green peppers almost raw. Had Maries pizza before the business was sold and enjoyed it. This pizza was a waste of my money. It ended up in the garbage. Back to Neds!

Jim A.

Yelp
As others stated, 50 year customer tried new owners 4-5 times and always disappointing. Even tho they state same recipe must of changed supplier for sausage and other ingredients as now the only thing that resembles the old pizza is the shape.

Yelp
New ownership has ruined the Pizza 1/3 less Pizza ,no Italian sausage, mushrooms microscopic, not enough sauce, soggy, didn't follow Maria's Pizza recipe totally different. I have going to Maria's Pizza originally on 11th greenfield Bonnie's mother's resume. Moved to 48th Forrest Home Bonnie took over with her brother Ron and Mickey. I had been a customer over 60 years. New Ownership has ruined the Pizza Price was $17 when Bonnie left and now it is $29.12 for a large Special. I will never ever be back.

J J.

Yelp
Like all others that grew up on this pizza have said, the new owner's have unfortunately ruined Maria's even though they bought their recipes. They don't know how to cook the pizza. Pizza always burnt and tastes terrible. Don't think the business will last too long if they can't figure it out.

Olivia B.

Yelp
The service is always amazing here. The food is very good in my opinion. I typically like my pizza a little underdone and that's usually how it comes without asking. If you want a bit crispier you should definitely ask. The environment is a Christmas type vibe all year long. Many religious photos around and the decor has been consistent since I started going 15+ years ago. If you have people in your group that have issues getting around, the bathrooms are downstairs and there is no elevator so keep that in mind.

Christine H.

Yelp
Not the same. Pizza was half the size and they skimp on the toppings. The pizza was so light and the price went up to 29.00. It did not taste the same at all. Will not be going back. The old Maria's Pizza was the best. New owners changed things a lot. More money for way less.

Stephanie M.

Yelp
Last few times pizza was undercooked. Very soggy in the middle and barely any cheese. For $26 it was disappointing.

Yelp
Somehow, the new owners have managed to resurrect Maria's even better than the former! We got a pepperoni supreme and the pizza was loaded with lots of fresh veggies and it was perfectly cooked. The meat was seasoned to perfection and the pizza had the right amount of cheese. Overall this place is great, please make sure they stay going strong!

Joseph M.

Yelp
Hi - I have going to Marias Pizza when I was a teenager and they were located on Greenfield ave. I am now 81 years old and can tell you that Marias pizza is not the same as the original pizza. They used to make their own pizza crust using a machine that looked like a wringer washer that made the crust flat. I went to Marias pizza to have a pizza after the new owner started business, the machine is still there against the wall and not being used. In the past the pizza was served on a large metal tray with the pizza hanging off both of the sides. The pizza that was served to my wife and I was 1/2 the size of the original with a very thin crust and you couldn't pick it up without it falling all over the place. Instead of a metal tray the pizza was served on a piece of white cardboard. Sorry to say I will never go to Marias Pizza again.

David W.

Yelp
Dine in, Ordered a supreme pizza.Pizza had almost no sauce on it. Nats in dining area, one dead in my beer. Very disappointed.

Yelp
This place was a gem back in the day. New owners. Only sell 4 pizzas. And they are like 9 bucks over past prices.

Yelp
Maria's Pizza is one of this pizza spots in Milwaukee that my friends on the south side rave about regularly. I've been meaning to go sooner but it just never happened. During my visit they were requiring masks and not offering dine in, so call ahead and plan to take the pizza home with you. Also... make sure you have CASH (they don't take cards) - there is an ATM at the bar across the street. If you know these things ahead of time, you can plan for it (a reminder to myself, haha). I ordered a SMALL pizza... what I got was far from a small pizza. Or at least I don't know what a "standard" small is... I can't imagine what a large pizza is! I think their standard style is thin crust, I didn't look beyond that to see options, but it's right up there with Zaffiro's and Hup's. Actually... I kind of want to order Hup's and Maria's to compare the two - they're very similar from what I recall. Basically, if you find yourself on the south side of Milwaukee and have a craving for thin crust pizza, then check out Maria's!

Yelp
I'm so geek that finally Maria's it's open. After a week of re opening, I finally made it. Now i know they will get better, and I still have the same taste from the last day I had it. I know there are a few things they got fixed & I'm sure they will get better. Like the base of the pizza, some pieces I did notice were too thin than other slices & look like one side wasn't stretched enough, but beside all that I'm soooo happy they back & they added debit card as a option. I am looking forward to ordering more for my familia.

Jesse K.

Yelp
Sadly this is a shadow of the original Maria's pizza. They changed some key things about the recipe. Mainly the sauce and the fennel in the sausage. Also the pizza is routinely undercooked. This was a restaurant run by a family that knew their craft. Now it's manned by teenagers likely making minimum wage. I have eaten Maria's for over 40 years and it's a disgrace to continue calling the restraint Maria's. The initial promise by the new owners was to keep everything original. This is not the case. I will likely never know if the business goes back to the original recipe since this is not the original or a good pizza any longer. The owners clearly wanted to cash in on the legacy that is Maria's. If they truly wanted to keep it alive then why change ingredients and recipe and let unskilled people run the establishment?

Mark P.

Yelp
Went to Maria's with my bride on Sat night on Jan 25th Sat night approx 7:30pm. We were greeted in a timely fashion by our waitress. when asked if what we would like to drink, I asked for a Chianti (hey when in Rome) I was told we are out of wine. I asked for any Miller product or beer and she replied we are out of beer. I finally asked well then what is available to us, I asked do you have Pepsi or Coke?? We have Cola and Grape and other flavors of soda, (I thought OK ) it's not her fault lets have soft drinks( which were good by the way). We placed our pizza order along with the soft drinks and the pizza came back accurate to what we ordered along with an order of garlic bread which was very good. Now how to make our experience or anyone's dinning experience for that matter a bit better. 1) to have no beer or wines available when they are on the menu on a Saturday night is in my book inexcusable ( especially in Milwaukee) the manager should have (and maybe he/she did, I don't know) the mgr or owner once notified at the very least should have went to neighboring liquor store or Pick n Save and purchased 1 cs of Miller Lite and possibly another beer to at least have a beer offering in between beer supplier stops, while at the Liq store or Pick n Save they could have also purchased the 4 pack wines of Sweet Red, Merlot or White Zin, so you could offer a wine selection to the customers vs just saying we are out... 2) the Garlic Bread (just buttered per our choice) came out warm and very good, but it was served with ice cold marinara vs warmed or at least room temp 3) I feel a small dinner salad should have been available as well. I am not asking that Maria's brings in all the materials to make at least side salads, but if they could contact a vending type company that produces salads and deliver to Maria's and keep track of rotating the salad inventory every 2-3days to ensure freshness where Maria's will not have to worry about it, and offer (for example) Paul Neuman's salad dressing or another type salad dressing packets, Italian, Balsamic, and maybe a Ranch, so the dressing btl's do not go bad, and then Maria's could be in the salad business as well with very little waste. 4) Lastly this restaurant is under new ownership.... for at least possibly 1 yr it was pick up pretty much only... one would thing within that first year and now that they are open for dine in, they could have started to replace their vinyl red check table clothes as most of them are cracked and old, as well as some of the chair seat. If they purchased 3-4 table clothes per first yr of takeout operation, they could have all been replaced by now, as for the cracked chair seats again get a quote of all chairs for a better replacement price and try to do 2 per month and then the chairs would start getting repaired overtime. In summary our pizza, drinks, and garlic bread were all very good, they just need to cosmetically replace things from the original owner. think about getting 4pack wines, you will know your cost, and will not have to worry about 750ml btls going flat, and think a side salad supplier to rotate inventory keeping everything fresh and rotated out every 2-3 days with foil pack dressings and this would really round out your menu offerings. Again, all food items and drinks were very good during our visit, but there needs to be something in place if you run out of beer and wine in between supplier visits. thanks much - mark

Yelp
Staff was super nice and the pizza was great! They gave us a whole extra pizza that they made extra of on accident. My boyfriend was thrilled! Haha

Yelp
I'm writing this review for the new owners of Maria's Pizza not the customers. I really really hope that they read and heed my advice because it stems from decades of experience with eating the ORIGINAL Maria's pizza. There are two things that are not quite right about the new pizza, the sausage and the vegetables! These are key ingredients that made Maria's pizza taste so good and unique. FENNEL, FENNEL, FENNEL! Where's the fennel sausage?! The original always had big hand-picked chunks of fennel sausage, I mean 1" to 1.5" chunks of sausage filled with whole seeds of fennel, this is important and can NOT be skimped on! Please please please do it like the original, if you have the original recipe and if you have ever eaten an original Maria's pizza you would know that this is a signature feature just as is the ultra thin crust and large oblong size is. Next, the vegetables. This is a crucial ingredient for the supreme pizza! The onions and green peppers MUST be diced into the tiniest little cubes as possible. Personally, I can't eat large slices of these vegetables as they will give me heartburn and acid reflux but in the small diced bits they are simply delicious and an absolute MUST for a Maria's pizza. I'm writing this hoping that you take my advice as constructive criticism because I and many others want you to succeed and I want to continue enjoying the exquisite recipe of the original Maria's pizza. My siblings and I (9 of us) have been eating the pizza since the early 1960s and our many children and grandchildren have grown to love it as well, so it is with the sincerest respect that I ask you to please correct these "minor" items that will help make our experience more enjoyable and more memorable like the original. As it is now, it's been disappointing, I've had pizza with waaay too may olives thrown on the pizza and large slices of vegetables and sausage the consistency of ground hamburger with no fennel flavor in it at all I'll continue to try your pizza to see if you adjust but if it doesn't change then I can NOT eat it or recommend it to anyone as I would the original pizza.

Mike S.

Yelp
20 year plus customer tried to give them time to figure it out, not the same. Ben there 4 times since they opened won't be back
google avatar

Patty S.

Yelp
My first time placing an order today. Heard great things about Maria's and was excited to try it. We ordered a large supreme pizza, pizza size lived up to its description. The olives, mushrooms, onions and green peppers seemed to be placed on the pizza after it was cooked. Which was a disappointment. Sauce was just ok. Crust was soggy and difficult to eat.

David W.

Yelp
First time back since reopening. Not as good with new owners . Lacking flavor (sauce is not as good) Skimpy on the toppings . Overpriced . 9 bucks more than previous owners . Will not go back Just not the same
google avatar

Thomas S.

Yelp
Still a dump. I tried the pizza back before it closed and wasn't a fan. I gave it a second chance and it actually seemed worse. The place looks dirty and gross. Signs advertising food they dont make in the back. Odd slot machines placed along the back wall. Why anyone would go there to gamble is beyond me. I'm watching a workers sweep flour on the floor 3 feet below another worker making a pizza above. I ordered a large sausage pizza. The pizza was quickly made. That was one star. When I got home and opened the pizza bag. The edges were burnt black on the bottom. So when I picked up the peice, chucks of black burnt crust went everywhere. When I got into the middle of the pizza. The crust was floppy and soggy. I guess this is their signature style. I couldn't image if it had veggies on it. I know people have this childhood fixation of it when they ate there as a kid. I get it. The sausage had real good flavor. Star 2. Good luck to the new owners. I'm sure there are enough fans to keep them around for awhile. .

Yelp
Same delicious pizza of old, orders are carrot only. Unfortunately we were given another "Bill's" order. Found out later, tried calling and calls went to a message the mail box was not set up. Great pizza just not what we ordered

Bob K.

Yelp
We ordered 2 veggie pizzas. 1 large and one small. We actually received 2 large pizza's when we got home. They were very good but seemed to be lacking something and we came down to the sauce. There wasn't much sauce on both of the pizza's as we remembered it. We will try them again as we love the the crust.

Drew H.

Yelp
OK, I am the review you need to read about Maria's. Been going to Maria's since the 1980s. Regularly. Maria's was shut down for the past 2 years, it just reopened last mo under new owners. Here is the deal: It's still fantastic, best pizza in Wisconsin. However, the new owners don't quite have it down like old Maria's, but I'm certain they will master it very soon. That's how good Maria's was, the old Maria's was a 10 out of 10, this new Maria's is a 9 out of 10. The old Maria's italian sausage that they put on the pizza was extraordinary! This new Maria's doesn't quite have the italian sausage down yet. Bottom line: the new Maria's is still the best pizza in Wisconsin.

Yelp
**Cash Only** **No Alcohol** If you want thin crust pizza then Maria's Pizzaria is for you! This is the thinnest crust pizza I've ever had. Too thin for my liking as I found the crust thin but not crispy. This causes the pizza to get soggy very quick. My preferred method of eating it was to keep it on the plate and bite vs holding the pizza. I would recommend dining in and eating it fresh instead of take out to prevent further sogginess. We got 2 larges for 6 people and had some leftovers for a meal for 2 people. I think Maria's comes down to personal preference. I am not saying this place is bad and not worth trying for yourself, but it was just not a standout to me.

Yelp
Best pizza around. Business has been purchased and is scheduled to reopen in January 2024 under new ownership. Same food. Same recipes. Same everything.

Jeff p.

Yelp
Used to frequent Maria's under the previous ownership. This was not the same. Staff was very nice but the pizzas were not good. Crust was soggy and hard to eat. Too bad.

Pauline B.

Yelp
Delicious. Such a treat. The folks working there are super nice and apologetic if they're running behind a bit. The Pizza tastes like the pizza we all remember and enjoyed. We highly recommend going back there.

Yelp
Yum! Old school neighborhood pizza joint. Called in the order and dropped by. The parking, as far as I could tell was only on the street, but it work out fine. I knew they only took cash and was prepared, but in case that fact escaped you thus far, please be aware of it. Walking in the all the employees and the non-eating customers were wearing face coverings. A responsible business during the pandemic. The seating area with just a few tables, was full. People were eating-out and being served but they were doing okay with health and safety within the context of the establishment. I also believe if you are eating in, you probably don't care anyway. We ordered the Pepperoni Supreme topped with pepperoni, sausage, mushrooms, onion, black olive and green pepper. We also ordered a plain cheese. The first thing you notice is the size. The pizza is enormous and irregular and had a very appealing and appetizing look. You just know it's going to be great looking at it. The cracker thin crust is crunchy and sturdy with a great texture. Both pizzas had a slightly sweet red sauce with ample toppings. Not overloaded or too spare so the quality flavor was a good blend of all the ingrediants. The only negative to me was the use of canned mushrooms. Can't wait to get another one of these and I recommend you try them out!

Yelp
Maria's is an interesting spot to say the least. CASH only with no alcohol. Drinks are in paper cups with pitchers also available. Tons of religious and Elvis memorabilia around the restaurant so it feels like you are in the 1960/70's, and Maria's looks to be someone's house they made into a restaurant. Classic MKE cracker thin pizza with square cuts. Pizza slices are huge with some air bubbles on the perimeter. My girlfriend and I got the Special (Pepperoni, Sausage, Onion, Green Pepper, and Black Olive). Very solid pizza which reminded me of Zaffiros and other pizzas I have had growing up. Service was solid and tables have space between for social distancing. I recommend to everyone at some point in their Milwaukee lifetime to check out Maria's at least one time.

Yelp
This pizza is the best there is outside of New York. Every time I'm in Milwaukee, or even near, I head to Maria's. I was concerned it wasn't open because of Covid but it was, and it was busy. Bless Maria's! The cheese, the thin crust, the perfect crispness, the oozing grease - this IS pizza! Having grown up on the north shore of Long Island, and believing pizza was a food group, this is an experience. The picture I attached just doesn't do this masterpiece justice. It's so rare to find a crust that perfectly blisters. I discovered Maria's in 2010 and our relationship is still as strong as it was when we first met. This might be the longest relationship in my life. It's so damn good.

Sharon G.

Yelp
Doesn't even seem like a pizza. A layer of cheese with pepperoni and sausage that totally separates from the crust that is soggy. We even put it in a 500 degree oven for 10 minutes to no crispiness. We could tell it wasn't like the old Maria's pizza because of lack of grease on top. Cold getting it home because of takeout. I wish you could just pick up at counter and eat at tables that are right there.

Yelp
If ever there was a place a person went to out of a sense of nostalgia Maria's would be it. Unfortunately for my situation the nostalgia is all my wifes. Important to know is that Maria's is a cash only type place. I also believe they do not serve alcohol. Your options are water or soda in plastic cups. The pizza is thin crust cooked on a cookie sheet. The crust generally hangs over the edge of the cookie sheet and comes out with burnt crust around the edges. Definitely not the flavor I'm looking for in a slice but some really like that burnt taste. Each to their own. The decor (very religious) with Jesus and Mary photos everywhere, looking right out of the 70's which is likely the last time the place was updated. One of the owners (Bonnie, I think) has worn the same form fitting red dress each time my wife has dragged us here. The dress is straight out of days gone by. Not my kind of place but if you grew up on the south side I can appreciate the affection one might feel for the nostalgia of days gone by.

Yelp
it was very dry needs more sauce and they are VERY skimpy with the sausage I hope they improve

Yelp
What can I say about this place that hasn't been said? I've been getting Maria's since I was a kid..50's now. If you like thin crust pizza it's delicious. The staff is very nice. CASH ONLY.

Gail F.

Yelp
I tried the newly owned Marias pizza this past weekend and the pizza tastes the same. there are some glitches that need to be revised. The dough needs to be stretched at the ends more so it stays thin like the middle and it extends the pizza in size. the large was little short of the original size and i think if the dough person stretches the ends it will thin it and get that extrta length where both ends of the pizza hang over the pans not just one side. Maria always had to do 2 bags to cover cuz the first one only went half way. the pizza i got, the firts bag covered almost the whole pizza but just a little end. that was the first sign it wasnt the same size they used to be . Also the consistancy of the size of meat and where to place it still needs work. there was a large part of the pizza that had nothing but cheese on it and the size was good on some and others were on the small size. with time i'm sure they will get the hang of things and get back on track. I ordered the special which was cheese, sausage, mushroom and onion. there was way too many onions that made the whole pizza taste like onion and everything got lost in the onion taste. I ended up removing the onion from the pizza. then the mushrooms. they were ok but i had a part of the pizza where a pile of the mushrooms and onions were in one small spot like they forgot to be spread. keep in mind that little is more when it comes to additions like the onions, mushrooms, etc. you want them to taste it, but not be overpowered by it. All in all, the pizza was a marias pizza and i will definately be returning again and again. Great start to a new beginning for the new owners. Welcome home to Marias a place where everyone loves your pizza. So so glad you are open and got to carry on this wonderful staple of Milwaukee. Best wishes and keep them pies coming.

Yelp
We were seriously happy to see Maria's return after the hiatus... with that said, there are a few drawbacks that made the experience a little less charming than it use to be. To be fair, the pizza was decent and tasted like I remember, I'd rate at 7/10 for what it is. Problem is it was luke warm at best by the time we got to eat it. The reason it was not warm is simple. When I called to order they couldn't have been nicer! With that said, it sounds like organized chaos going on there while they struggle to get back on their feet. First they told me it would be a 2.5 hour wait (weekend night 5PM) , then she said it might be up to a 3 hour wait. Then she finally said to be there at 7:30 and it would be ready, I ordered and planned appropriately to be there by 7:15 just to be early. To my surprise, they called me at 6:45 and said my pizza was coming out of the oven and was ready to be picked up. Living 10 minutes away I wasn't prepared for it to be ready 45 minutes early. It kind of ruined the experience to be honest. The garlic bread was burned and definitely not worth the price. Although it was nice to revisit this childhood pizza memory, I won't make the drive or pay $30 for a cold pizza again until they get things straightened out a bit. I wish them luck!

Yelp
I totally wrecked my diet today so we could go to Maria's. My hubby really had to twist my arm! Just kidding! I love this place. I grew up with the one on Greenfield and still consider this my top Milwaukee pizza of all time. The place is a hole in the wall and very kitcy. Pictures of Jesus and Elvis line the walls. The checkered plastic table cloths are signatures of this place. Find a table and get it quick. The Maria's special named for Mama Maria is the bomb with sausage, shrooms, and onion. It is a thin crust with slightly crispy edges. We also had the eggplant strips as the appetizer. The pizza comes out on a large sheet pan spilling over the sides. The pizza is under $20.00 and can feed 6-8 people or four very hungry people. The place is cash only and typically packed so come and be patient. We lucked out today and were seated right away. Bonnie, Maria's daughter still works there along with her brother. They treat you like long lost family.

Yelp
The most thin crust pizza I've ever seen/ate. Ordered a cheese, sausage, and pepperoni large pie. This pizza was cooked to perfection, had plenty of toppings and cheese. The large was 14 x 18 rectangle and under $20. This is a cash only establishment, but stopping at an ATM for cash is well worth it. I'm not a fan of deep dish pizza, but if this crust was just double in thickness (it's really THAT thin) this would be a 6 star review.

Yelp
I still respect family owned neighborhood joints, that's why it pains me even more to write this update... Maria's is so out of touch. The place is slow, meat inferior, and selection is just severly lacking. Take more than cash for Pete's sake! Doesn't make sense why Maria's can't innovate just a little tiny bit -- how about stepping into the 90's at least? Who even cares about decor, I only mean the food! The main thing is the food. NO Parking, NO drinks, NO choice on the menu. Dessert has once choice. Sandwiches well really one -- meatball or sausage (not much of a difference here) Grabbed my sanwich to go, paid extra for mushrooms and onions and I was lucky to get 2 minced up shrooms. I'll gladly pay 9 bucks a sandwich, but it should be great.

Yelp
Just saying show me better... Milwaukee has some unbelievable pizza (Pizza Man, Zafirros, Ann's, Lisa's) and Maria's is right there. So I'm sorry but the ambience is crazy cool. They love them some Jesus w at least 25 pictures w a few Elvis pics sprinkled in. Bonnie is a dream and her family has served great pie since 1957. No alcohol order a pitcher of soda and eat some amazing pizza.

Yelp
Never disappoints. Sure i'll eat pizza from other places, but when I want to really enjoy a pizza, this is where I go

Yelp
This wasn't as great a place as many reviewers have said. I went with high hopes and was met with a snarky attitude from a waitress, cold jalepeno poppers, soggy pizza and cheesy styrofoam cups. The atmosphere was kinda neat since the business has been around for a long time, but honestly that's the only thing going for it. I'll stick with Balistreri's pizza! Now that's a great pizza.

Yelp
We love Maria's Pizza and have been enjoying it for years. There is something truly special about their pizza (and their history). If you live more than 15min away- dining in is the way to go. Although they do a killer take-out and par-bake business - traveling beyond 15min can sacrifice the quality. Do yourself a favor, plan ahead, and dine in. The sausage and pepperoni- is perfection. I wish I knew where they go it from. So, so, so- good!!!
