Where to find the best Mexican restaurants on East Lake Street | Eater Twin Cities

"Get a giant torta that comes on a soft and buttery telera roll filled with juicy meats, beans, avocado, and more veggies. Meat options included everything from classic al pastor, milanesa (crispy breaded chicken), steak, to their ham with pineapple." - Adrian Diaz

Great quality food! I find this place quite authentic. This is inside the center. There are other places you can order from. You order it at a counter and seat your self. Not waiters.

Delicious Quesabirria tacos with consommé. Friend taco shells with succulent stewed beef, cheese, onions, cilantro, which you can dip in the beef stew broth. $15 with tax, but filling - split it with my kid. Located in the food court of Mercado Centrale - a bustling Hispanic market in the heart of Lake street

Tried the quesabirria with the consomme, and it was good. The service is also fairly quick.

Amazing food tried the chilaquiles and the chilaquile torta both where full of flavor and plenty of food to spare!

Great employees which prepare and cook great traditional meals and add extra. Kind as well, will not hesitate to get you anything and will call out your order just in case you're seated in the dining hall

This restaurant is by far the best here in el Mercado central. The staff is always smiling and ready to take your order. The food is always ready within 10 minutes and so fresh. The food is always the right temperature and made right.

Hands down the best tortas in town. Had the milanesa torta. The refried beans are home made not canned like other places. The meat is thick not thinly sliced like they do elsewhere and the veggies they put on your torta are fresh. The sauce is off the chain you will be asking for extra. I will post a pic next time I go.

Yelp
Owned by Maria from Maria and the Diamonds, and Maria from They Call The Wind Maria, is this adorable little Mex food stand. Authentic AF. Located inside the incredible Mercado Central which is the most authentic Latin Food Hall you might ever find. I highly recommend you stop by and get some Mexican food here. This is real Mexican and they have tortillas and lots of other delicious snacks and they're cheap and delicious and very much a local business. All the places inside the Mercado Central are fantastic and I highly recommend checking them out. This one is five star all the way. One of my favorites in the market. Skip the Midtown Global Market if you have to so you can come here and get real Latin experience instead of the tourist one.

Yelp
The hamburgers and tortas here are pretty good. Quality is OK, and prices are what you'd expect. I'd say Maria's is a good addition to the Mercado Central lineup. So far I've had hamburguesas Lujo and Toreada. I intend to return to try the Hawaiian burger, as well as the other tortas. The only downside of getting food here is that the service can be very unfriendly if you don't speak Spanish. I am accustomed to some language barrier when ordering food at ethnic restaurants (especially in highly segregated Minneapolis), but not this level of outright rudeness. It's enough to dampen the experience. I'll update this review as I try other menu items, and will make a note if the service ever gets friendlier.

Yelp
My girlfriend had a steak street Taco and the steak was grissly.. I was told not to talk to the female cook wh was very cute. I asked for a plate to carry some cups of salsa and he said no I can't do that. It definitely authentic except for the hospitality. What a shame cause il never eat there again. I don't need the agrevation. There are plenty of good restaurants around.

Yelp
I come eat here at-least once a week. I truly recommend the gotta de asana but there's more choices and very delicious all. Take a couple mins to make it but because everything is freshly cooked and prepared. Love this place.
