"The health department shut down Maria’s Taco Shop at 7380 S. Eastern Ave. on July 30 after the restaurant failed re-inspection from a previous C grade on July 11. The re-inspection revealed potentially hazardous foods at unsafe temperatures and food improperly stored. The restaurant returned to a zero-demerit A grade on July 31." - Susan Stapleton

It wasn’t bad and it wasn’t good. Small place. The meat had a lot of fat you could feel it when you chewed it. Place was clean. They offered soft drinks and aguas frescas.

I think one star is too much, I hadn’t been there in a long time so I stopped by to order tacos...it took a long time for the cook to prepare which is fine because your expecting good food...meanwhile the new owner hovers around and is a creep...I get my order get home and my tacos are soggy one fell apart and I see literally a shred of chicken and it was hard and crispy it was like they used the old chicken tht had been sitting there all day and put it in the taco they hide it well with tons of lettuce and cheese! I know the tacos are only 99 cents but I think I’ll stick to Roberto’s tacos at least they put a decent amount of chicken ...

North Korea could probably make better Mexican food. The worst Mexican food I've ever had the displeasure of eating. Growing up in Southern California in cities like San Diego as well as the greater Los Angeles area, I have had some really good Mexican food. Once in a while I would even travel to Tijuana to hit up a corner taco shop or taco cart for some awesome tacos, so my bar for good Mexican food is a little high. However after finishing eating, I can honestly say EVERYTHING WAS BAD! From the salsa to the cheese to the beans and rice. I ordered a enchilada combo plate which comes with beans and rice. At first glance the rice was a weird color, almost like Indian food rice, like a dull yellow. Hands down the worst Mexican rice I have ever tasted. Then there's the beans, didn't taste like they had been cooked in a pressure cooker at all, most likely came straight out of a can. The beef enchilada's were difficult to cut with a fork, the red sauce was bland and didn't taste much like enchilada sauce. I also ordered 3 carne asada tacos. Corn tortillas were bright white, almost looked as if they were not even cooked. The asada was very tough and chewy without much flavor. Long story short, the food tasted like there was absolutely NO LOVE at all. Imagine a cook who only cooks Chinese food was suddenly ask to cook Mexican dishes, this is what the food tasted like. I've had better Mexican cuisine experiences in the frozen food section at the local grocery store, the only reason I ate the food was because I paid for it. I would give 0 stars if possible but cannot post a review unless at least 1 star is given, 33 years of loving Mexican food this was the worst experience, you've been warned.

won't be back. ordered the 2 tacos combo, after being suggested it'll be cheaper to buy the combo instead of the $1 taco with rice and beans. the meal said $7.50....so why did it come out to $10.27? When i asked, i was told "That's the tax" $2.77 is tax? Then i get the meal and There's a tiny bit of rice and my order was wrong. for $10 i'd expect three tacos with rice/beans drink like at Roberto's.

Great hole in the wall. Red and green sauce are yummy. I’m actually craving their red sauce right now. Skip Roberto’s, Don Tortacos, and try this authentic place! Cons: No online menu.

Great food, great prices. Received my order fairly quickly. They have daily lunch specials as well. Staff were friendly.
