I had brunch, pastries and bread from MarieBette and I have had both delightful and underwhelming experiences.
The Banana Sourdough Bread is, without a doubt, a standout gem. The delightful combination of banana chunks and coconut flakes creates a match made in bakery heaven. The crust of the sourdough adds a satisfying twist, making it a cut above the typical sweet banana bread.
Among pastries, Prezzant undoubtedly stole my heart with its brilliant combination of pretzel and croissant. Everything seasoning with chunky curst and flaky layers--it's absolutely my favorite! The Financier, an almond flour tea cake, had a pleasant texture and taste, but the sweetness was a little bit overpowering for my liking. The Kouigns, unfortunately, didn't meet expectations. Lacking the flaky layers, it felt staled and hard to chew, and the excessive sweetness left me yearning for a more balanced flavor profile.
One highlight of the menu was the French Toast with its innovative banana cream cheese filling. While I admire the creativity, the combination didn't resonate with my taste buds.
Also, considering the fact that you'll have to find a parking, wait for more than 10 mins to order(especially on weekends), you'll have to keep an eye on open tables... Though the bakery has its sweet hits, the misses left me questioning the overrated hype surrounding it (maybe it's just me having a high standard)
