Marieta's Fine Mexican Food & Cocktails

This is our extended family's go-to Mexican restaurant! 🌮🌮🌯🌯 We absolutely love it! Ivan, our server, is always so attentive and makes us feel right at home whenever we visit. The chips and salsa are super fresh, and even though we try not to spoil our appetite, we can’t resist munching on them because they’re just that delicious! It’s such a cozy and welcoming spot for a family meal. Highly recommend!

I really have enjoyed this place in the past when I came, but when I came in around 12pm July 6 I was looking forward to the menudo and when I received it as I’m eating it there was still pork hair on the menudo so it wasn’t properly cleaned and Marietas is my go to for menudo because they do typically clean their meat properly and if you zoom in on the photo you can see the hair I pulled out and the piece on the side of the bowl is where it was and it still had hair. Then it got worse…I found a CATERPILLAR in my food! And to top it off the what I believe was the manager came to my table and insulted my intelligence by gaslighting me into trying to believe it was “grease from the meat” as he crumbled it right in my face…you can CLEARLY see it was a caterpillar. I’m more disappointed in his dishonesty and insult when I saw with my eyes the mouth and legs of the caterpillar.

Great little spot. It’s nice calm music with an amazing atmosphere. The people are friendly and welcoming.

The service is always impeccable. Just ask for what you want and it’s yours. If you want salsa habanero, no problem. Chips and salsa come automatically with carrots and onions. The food is very good if you order the Colorado or chili Verde no problem. Everything is very tasty. The margaritas however, are very expensive but absolutely delicious.

The huevos rancheros was good. I think next time I will try the shrimp burrito though. The food was just a little salty but decent. The service was okay. Also, the price was just a little high but will not break the bank. The salsa was red and slightly chunky with medium heat but tasty and the corn chips were crispy. I will give this place another try.

Some good grub. Father said one of the best Chile Relleno he has had. I got a burrito combo. While looks plain had good flavor but must been smallest burrito I’ve ever had. More like an enchilada Will go again though. Offer senior discounts and daily specials.

We went here for a birthday celebration on a Friday night. No reservations were necessary for our party of 7. Everyone enjoyed the margaritas. I had the chicken enchiladas, they were done perfectly with green verde sauce and sour cream. One drink with dinner and a tip came to $36.00

There is a little patio outside for nice days, the bar is little with 3 TVs but the eating area is large. Food is good. I love the carnitas and fajitas. Not a whole lot of parking but check on the side and back. There is a side door to go in.

Since my last updated review I have come back here a few times. The Dos XX is back in stock and they are making fabulous Cadillac Margaritas again. I recently tried Barbacoa and it was delicious. Great customer service from Pedro and staff made it welcoming and enjoyable to be there. Salud.

The margaritas were well made when me and a few friends stopped here for lunch. We had a few appetizers but my favorite was the tender chicken quesadilla. It's somehow always better when someone else makes it for you. This is a family owned business and they are a great asset to the community. Crowded on Friday nights. Plenty of parking out front.

I'm simply disgusted after being sick and posting on the community Facebook group with over 7 suggestions that this is the best albondigas nearby is an actual disrespect to the dish and culture I wouldn't even call that albondigas 11$ for what they say is a large which barely even filled half of my bowl at home after I poured it over and that's when the shock hit. Barely any color in the broth THREE NASTY MUSHY MEATBALLS and 1 small potato and 1 small bell pepper in my. Soup NOTHING ELSE NO CARROT NO ZUCCHINI NO CELLERY NOTHING they basically gave me 3 meatballs in water NEVER EVER EVER EAT HERE THIS IS NOT REAL Mexican food attaching a photo I cannot express enough how tasteless this was it tasted like water and the meat was disgusting for 11$ is crazy

There is parking available directly outside the restaurant. Try to come early or much later as there are limited lots. It can get really crowded. So make sure to check in advance There is seating available inside and outside ( in summer) We were attended to immediately. And we got our drinks pretty quickly. Both of us got margarita. And we were exhausted after a long day of packing. Food came quickly after. I got a pescado ranchero Since it was our last night in California, we were pretty much tired out. I only got one picture of my food It was delicious. Fish was tender , sauce was delicious. Rice was super fluffy. We will be back again if we go back to California. Thank you!!!!

We were visiting Oceanside and wanted to have Mexican food. I checked yelp reviews and found this beautiful place. The outside is very pretty decorated with lights, inside is cozy feels like someone's house. We ordered beef fajitas and burritos. Both of them were good size but we prefer fajitas to be loaded with vegetables and juicier. I loved the mango margaritas, it was flavorful and had a buzz. My husband had the strawberry margaritas and he said it was pretty good. The service was nice, we had a very friendly server who checked on us a few times and brought salsa and chips when we were done with the first round. The ambience was nice, when we went it wasn't crowded. There was a big family and few couples. It looks like they were locals because they knew the owners.

Nice restaurant, reminds me of being down in Rosarito. The service was good. It was Cinco De Mayo and somehow we got seated right away. We shared the combo fajitas. They were really good and their flour tortillas were amazing

Marieata's is my neighborhood Mexican restaurant, and thank God I live in this neighborhood because this place is amazing!!! To start off, the margaritas are yummy, big and always poured with a smile . Hands-down, it's the best chips and salsa in Oceanside, they've got a really wonderful salsa. That's not too spicy and has a great Tang to it. The flautas are FIRE

Love this place. Just good authentic Mexican food. Margaritas are great as well. Service is always good. Staff is attentive and friendly across the board. Parking can get tricky on the weekends but I try and come on the earlier end to avoid the rush. Always good eats and good vibes.

My wife and I tried Marieta's for the first time and they did not disappoint. Great atmosphere, great food & great service. We will definitely be regulars now!

A cute hole in the wall place. We came here for a small bite to eat. We had margarita which was strong and good. Chips and salsa were okay, chips were not fresh, tasted like store bought. The service was great. We ordered a vegetarian taco salad, we told them we were sharing so they split into two mini taco salad!... which was very nice! ... Service was good Drinks were good Food was not too bad!

We have driven by this place for many years. They have one in La Mesa that we've tried before. We are both in the mood for Mexican food so we thought we'd give it a try The biggest negative is not the best part of Easy parking We are to walk we are given by a friendly older gentleman who sat us immediately He brought us chips and it took her drink order, returned with her drinks and took our food order. Our food arrived promptly. Service is excellent. Food is very good. The price is very reasonable. I'd come back

I ordered the beef enchilada & taco plate I asked for a shrimp taco came with rice and beans. My son & husband wanted a California burrito and said this was one of the best Cali burritos they've had because it had more carne asada than fries. Usually the burritos have more fries than carne asada. My son doesn't like guacamole and they had added guacamole to his burrito they remade his burrito without guacamole no complaints. Friendly service. It was very busy. Known for their margaritas but we ordered to go so wasn't able to try one.

Prices have really increased unfortunately. Don't go at night, sketchy area. Parking lot cramped. Kids too loud. Food good. No deals in a mailer anymore. Unsure about returning..

My husband and I and our two boys enjoyed the food and quality of service and how amazing the place is as well. We will definitely be coming back for sure. The food service is very fast it came out in like five minutes.

Everything is good here!! I've had the potato tacos, beef tacos, quesadilla, Carne Asada, Pollo asado, and their guacamole and chips is my absolute favorite! They are open for breakfast, which I only recently learned. Check it out.

We stopped going here years ago. The service was terrible, and the tacos had Taco Bell-type shells. Has it improved? It's a shame that there are no excellent Tex-Mex restaurants in Oceanside with a full bar. Just a lot of taco shops now, with ridiculous prices.

Nice little authentic Mexican restaurant with a 20% coupon when you check in on the Yelp app. What a deal. Chips and salsa are pretty standard but the main dishes really stand out. Along with chips and salsa We were also served a cold, sliced carrot dish. It had a little kick to it but it was pretty bland. I began with a Corona, which is a nice accompaniment to this cuisine. There are a variety of cocktails and they also have cocktail daily specials. For a main, I ordered Enchilada Del Mar. The enchiladas were large and flavorful with real crab meat, covered in a green sauce. Instead of beans, the rice came with the side of sweetcorn. All of this deliciousness was topped with freshly sliced avocado. my companion ordered the flautas, which apparently are not made by every Mexican restaurant. The flautas are deep fried tortillas containing beef. on the dish with two very large pieces with a side of rice and beans. The tortillas are made fresh daily in the restaurant. Service is attentive, and the atmosphere is very relaxing. Overall and enjoyable lunch.

I live down the street from this restaurant. So it's our go to place for breakfast, lunch or dinner when we don't want to drive far. The food is always good. Homemade tortillas. The beans are so good. The pozole and menudo are also good. This place is pretty expensive. But the portion size is good and the food taste good too.

The service was absolutely fantastic! We were greeted immediately with a smile, once we were seated the wait staff grabbed our drink orders and chips and salsa very swiftly. Our waitress was Veronica and she was so sweet and polite. A great server! By the time I took my last bite of food my plate was cleared and we were offered anything else we may need. 100/10 experience. Will definitely be coming back (also the food was DELICIOUS)!!!!!

Located just outside the entrance from Camp Pendleton, this unassuming restaurant has excellent food and amazing service! The interior is nicely decorated with Mexican decor. There is a bar seating area and a main dining area down a short flight of stairs. There is also outdoor seating with heaters to enjoy year round Al fresco dining. The starter chips and salsa are very tasty. The salsa on particular has a smooth, robust flavor. Pickled carrots, peppers, and onions are served along with the chips and salsa. The carne asada nachos are simply delicious and the portion very generous. The meat is tender and flavorful. The combination of rich cheese, smooth guacamole, and beans atop crisp tortilla chips is exquisite. The bean and cheese burrito is a very tasty version of a simple favorite. The entire staff is very pleasant, polite, and willing to assist. Lissette was especially kind. She verified we had all our items and routinely checked to see how the meal was progressing. She embodies professionalism. If you're in the area, give Marieta's a shot! You won't be disappointed.

We've been to Marieta's a few times but I've never reviewed it before now. The food & drinks here are really great. The Cadillac Margarita is huge and tastes fantastic. They serve chips, salsa and spicy pickled carrots and all are great. We've had the burritos, the taquitos, the chimichanga and they even made my son a California Burrito thought its not on the menu. I think my favorite is their Bistequitos Rancheros but everything has been really good. All of their food is very authentic, this isn't mall Mexican food. The only negatives (and what keeps me from giving it 5 stars) is that the restaurant is very loud. It is basically one room and the large tables are in the middle and if you have a loud group good luck talking to your party without yelling. The other negative is, while the food is great, it is pricey for the fare. I know times are tough and people have had to raise their prices but this, in my opinion, is pushing it. Regardless, we will be back again enjoying all Marieta's has to offer...

Great food and service! My mom had been telling me how good this place was and I finally came to check it out. We were seated quickly, every single person who worked here was very professional and welcoming. We got our food quickly and we were checked on regularly. I got the chile Colorado. Very authentic. The chips, the salsa, the rice and beans - all the baseline things are excellent, which I think speaks to the rest of the menu. Worth a visit for sure!

I LOVE this place but... We drove all the way out there a few nights ago and could not get a parking spot! We were very disappointed! They have great food.

WOW! We live in South Orange County and enjoy discovering new places to eat. Our drive from RMV to Marieta's was 37 minutes and my gosh... it was well worth it!!! YELP suggested Marieta's when we inquired about excellent food, not expensive with a friendly atmosphere and outside eating that allowed dogs. From the minute we arrived, our service was TOP NOTCH! They work as a team so all our needs were met right away. I ordered a pork tamale with green sauce and a taco. WOW!!!!! This was truly the BEST tamale I have ever eaten! I wanted to order 12 to take home and freeze, but knew we were not headed home after the dinner. Next time I will order 12 to go! I highly recommend Marieta's. Service was top notch, the food was phenomenal, the atmosphere was friendly and fun. Prices were excellent. It was super clean. The ambiance was awesome.

Came here with family for a birthday lunch. It's their favorite place for chile rellenos. They use a different cheese than most places, possibly a blend with cotija? But I did enjoy it. Inside was incredibly loud. There was a table of 6 or 8 that were talking so loudly we couldn't have any meaningful conversation until they left. Outside was too hot, and next to a busy street, so it was not the best option for us, but the patrons outside seemed relaxed and happy. It seems like a lot of families come after soccer games, so it gets pretty crowded quickly. Restaraunt staff was efficient and checked on us often, but there was no one in the bar while we were waiting for a table. I appreciated that they kept my water glass full, especially since it was such a hot day. And they were generous with the chips and salsa. I really enjoyed the salsa. One problem we had was that the waiting area was up a short flight of stairs, and we had some in our party that couldn't navigate them. I'm a flan fanatic, and i was a little disappointed with mine. It had a granular texture, not the smooth one I prefer. The fried ice cream was a huge hit with everyone at the table, I highly recommend you try it. What really turned me off was the bathroom. Someone had shoved a huge stack of toilet seat covers into the toilet. Enough that you wouldn't be able to flush. I feel bad for whoever had to clean that up. I can think of a very hot place we should send people who destroy public bathrooms.

This long time favorite Mexican eatery has survived longer than most restaurants for good reason. In house made dishes from scratch. Wide variety of amazing margaritas. And a impressive patio and inside seating. For our group the service was as good as it gets. Pedro knew every detail about the food and drinks. Also he was well informed about the area and it's history. If your a Mexican connoisseur I recommend their dishes with the perfectly prepared shredded chicken. Chicken Tostada was 5 Stars. We will be back soon.

I just ate ther last night and I go there a lot. The staff is really good and the food is fantastic.

We haven't been here in about 5 years not because anything was bad , we just went to other places and we live only minutes away. Well I'm glad we came again today. We had the chili Verde and the chili colorado with rice and beans. The meat was super tender and tasty. Both red and green sauces were so delicious. The rice and beans were great and tasty. The flower and corn tortillas were the perfect size and thickness. Also the chips and salsa were crisp and not to spicy. I mean our plates were excellent. And Ivan, our server, was super friendly and attentive. He was so polite. We are definitely coming back at last once a week. This has been my favorite chili colorado plate. The music playing was good too and the booths are comfortable for two people.

Amazing food and great service. Clean restaurant and AC We loved the recommendations from Pedro and enjoyed his knowledge and history of the area. The Breakfast burrito was outstanding. Their homemade chorizo was over the top!!! Kids had breakfast pancakes and loved everything! Bottomless champagne on Sundays and chips and salsa were delicious. Everyone was happy. Can't wait to come back.

A BIG shout out to our server, Ivan, who provided us with the best service. Ivan was almost running instead of walking around and made sure we were taken care of. My grandauther has severe allergies and he advised what to avoid and also took the time to find out if 3 items were ok based on her allergies. Kudos and thank you Ivan!!! Chris T.

The food was excellent. We were a little bummed there no hard shell tacos! The food was fresh and the drinks were great the bartender was so nice and absolutely darling. We definitely will be back when in Oceanside. Thank you for a great experience.
