Marigny Opera House is hands down one of the most photogenic venues in New Orleans. The light in that space is unreal — soft, glowy, and just magic at the right time of day. The old cathedral architecture, faded walls, and open space give everything a sense of calm and history. It doesn’t need much to feel beautiful. Whether the ceremony is simple or fully decked out, it still feels honest and cinematic.

Choosing the Marigny Opera House for our ceremony was one of the best choices we made when planning our wedding! The venue is stunning, and it truly felt even more magical in person than in photos. We loved its unique feel—a beautiful space with a church-like aesthetic that wasn’t overly religious, yet filled with a rich history as “the church of the arts.” Bill and his team were very responsive and went out of their way to ensure everything was perfect for our big day. From setting up the chairs and a mic for our officiant to arranging a private area for signing our marriage license, the team went above and beyond. If you want a timeless and romantic space for your wedding, we highly recommend Marigny Opera House!

The Marigny Opera House is a lovely old building that used to be the Holy Trinity Church. The architecture is very nice and the peeling paint on the exterior only adds to the ambiance. The ballet company was kind enough to let me look inside. I really look forward to attending their next ballet.

I went to the Marigny Opera House for a performance of the Jazz Nutcracker. I had SO much fun! This space is large and at the same time intimate - the acoustics of jazz in a former church were wonderful. What a marvelous venue! If I lived in the neighborhood, I would certainly join their board, and come to all the events. I recommend a visit and a show!

I love this place so much. It is filled with a vibe of authenticity that mirrors the city. The prices are very reasonable/ modest. Often the performances are one of a kind gems, and a bit off the beaten path.

One of our fave venues to decorate, the incredible interior and exterior of Marigny Opera House is a gorgeous place for weddings and events. Working there is always easy and Bill's the best.

Yelp
There's a reason Solange Knowles did a shoot for a magazine here! What a beautiful spot. I visited from Wisconsin for a friend who was playing on a Sunday afternoon. I had no idea what to expect but it really was a such a pleasant spot (that kind of just comes up out of nowhere!) We found parking easily on the street across from the building itself. It's an open space inside with a small stage (see photos) and for this show they were only asking for a donation. They take credit cards, cash, and checks. The staff was so friendly! There is a bathroom inside as well. I'm sure whatever you end up visiting for with be so relaxing and pleasant that you'll be looking forward to coming again next time you're in town! Such a unique spot in New Orleans.

Yelp
Enchanting setting for an unforgettable wedding! Textured and weathered the place has soul oozing out of every crack!

Yelp
Beautiful setting. It appears repairs are still in the works, but it is a stunning place even now. Seating is padded folding chairs, but they encourage you to bring a seat cushion if you like. I'm glad I did. The acoustics and lighting were amazing. There isn't a bad seat in the house.

Yelp
Beautiful, but sadly slowly fading structure in a great neighborhood. With multiple event uses possible, someone should become a serious advocate to restore the building and get the rehab and adaptive re-uses underway soon. We saw the Tennessee Williams play. Very well produced; surprisingly good acting; interesting characters; wonderful almost tuneful dialogue; excellent staging and set, fine lights and sound. A really entertaining evening. We will do it again.

Yelp
We were checking out the Opera house for the first time and exploring the architecture and interior decor. We got invited to stay for the music and symphony band that would be starting soon. I'm so glad we did. The band was folksy and symphonic and the violins were terrific. I'll definitely keep an eye out on more events that will be taking place at the Opera House. The Opera house itself is a really old church and I enjoyed learning some of the history. There is one bathroom and it is really old located in the front of the building. Be sure to check for upcoming free Sunday shows because it is a great experience.

Yelp
I had a chance to visit this location for Nola Fashion Week. I definitely see the potential in this beautiful building that was once a Trinity Church in the Bywater. Even as it is in repair stage it has character and beautiful. It was a ideal venue for a fashion show, especially with the long walk way. This space is right in the midst of a residential community so parking can definitely be limited if ever attending an event in this location.

Yelp
Gorgeous building with excellent acoustics! I am really happy that I got to see my friend's group, Steamcog Orchestra, perform here during JazzFest! It's not far from the French Quarter and looks great day and night. It's truly a gem - make sure you see a performance there when you visit New Orleans.

Yelp
I stopped by here for a meeting, and had never really been in the space before. I didn't spend much time there so this review is going to be somewhat incomplete, but the building is incredible. An old church sanctuary, it has a very interesting interior. I think the space hosts a lot of art shows and performances. I'm not sure if you'd really seek out this space unless there was an event going on, but it's quite memorable once you step inside.

Yelp
I saw a silent filming of a 1950's(?) Joan of Arc movie. I had tickets so I didn't have to wait in the long line outside. They do different art/theater events there, so it's be unfair for me to rate this movie and the opera house in the same review. I like that it's an old church turned theater. The ceilings are very high and the inside of the building looks pretty cool. t seats a good 50+ people, but there is only one bloody bathroom! I think the men took longer than the women. Have your phone ready to wait in line.

Yelp
This is really a review of the space, not the play I saw last night, which was excellent. This building is gorgeous on the outside, so I was very excited to buy tickets to see Camino Real last night. We walked, so we didn't mind that parking was limited to the street. Great neighborhood. We used the side entrance, as instructed, which was somewhat disappointing as I would have loved to see the front of the space inside. The interior was so full of potential! Gorgeous space with so much height and grandeur, it was sort of a pity that it was appointed with uncomfortable metal folding chairs, no interior lobby, and no bathrooms. I saw a review from January 2016 that stated there was "only one bathroom," so I figured they had been under construction. But NO bathrooms now? After at least 18 months? While they did provide porta potties outside, it did not exactly reach "opera house" status in my mind. I'd love to come back to this space and find a grand entry hall, a lobby with food and drink options, and- the luxury of all luxuries- indoor bathrooms. I really think it could be a beautiful venue.

Yelp
I have been here for two events, the 24 hour draw a thon and I just saw Equus. This is a beautiful space that has been wonderfully repurposed. The draw a thon event allowed us guests to roam around the building to take in the architecture. The acoustics for the music at that performance were interesting and lovely. Equus was a great production and I really liked how the production made use of the shadows cast on the beautiful walls. It added an almost mystical element to it (it also reminded me of the shadow on the church on Royal in the Quarter). This is a great addition to the community and I look forward to more events here. I took one star off because the building is rather cold in colder weather, so make sure to bundle up.

Yelp
Charming historic venue. Went to see ballet there. Nice production, pleasant staff, involved community in the audience. A great night out.
