Marimekko

Let me begin by saying I enjoy this brand‘s products. The review is in regards to the fact that returns are handled poorly by this brand overall. I traveled to the Soho location specifically to return an online purchase. Despite the website clearly stating that stores can indeed accept online returns, the salesperson refused to accept my return. She claimed it was because they “don’t have a way to ship products back to the warehouse”. When I showed her the website’s policy and pressed further, she claims that the policy has changed recently and the website is outdated… The only other way to return products is to ship it back to the warehouse with no heads up and wait, which seems like a black hole process. You also have to pay $10 in return shipping, which isn’t a big deal, but it’s just another layer of hassle that discourages people from making returns. I understand that brands don’t want to deal with returns. However, a large selection of Marimekko products are only available online in the US. And it’s inevitable with online shopping that there are some color / sizing discrepancies that are hard to catch until you open the product in person. After this experience, I am much more hesitant to make future purchases with Marimekko.

True Nordic simple happiness in one shop. Harmonic colors, sustainable materials. They have both clothing and interior products. The staff was very kind.

Giving a five-star review above all for the kindness and warm welcome we received from the staff. They gave us first-class service even though we were only making a small purchase. It is worth noting that this is a small shop with clothing and some housewares, not a flagship store with a wide range of merchandise, so best to adjust your expectations accordingly.

Stopped in during our recent trip to NYC and had such a lovely experience. Camille helped me with my purchase of the Karla bag and we spent a little time admiring all the gorgeous colors and prints. Will look forward to coming back on future trips!

Lovely store, merchandise was well displayed. Staff was helpful. This is one of my favorite designers and it was a treat to finally visit one of their stores.

Love Marimekko products and have been using them for decades. Mostly from Finland. However, recently very disappointed in how Marimekko US handle refunds on returns. Take more than the time posted on their website, have to make multiple complaints which go to customer service. The refund department appears to be separate and communication is not customer friendly. Update: customer service has been replying promptly and the refund has been processed. They’ve said they will improve their refund process.

This Soho shop of Marimekko, the Finnish design group, while smaller than their earlier Flatiron location, still provides an opportunity to see their range of dining, home decor, textiles, and clothing in person. Marimekko's superb designs, including their iconic "Unikko" (Poppy) design by Maija Isola, are bold and timeless. Over the years, my interest has been Marimekko's dining range, although the prices have risen considerably. Being dishwasher and microwave safe, they're sturdy and get regularly used. (While they state what I have is also oven and freezer safe, never have put them through that test.) Mostly I've made my purchases online, however. Note - Although there are certain patterns that come in evergreen colors, Marimekko regularly introduces classic patterns in new, fresh colors. That being said, if you like great design, it's worthwhile to check this Marimekko store out.

I'm a lifelong Marimekko fan. I was excited to shop this brick & mortar in soho. I'm not sure what I was expecting but it was very tiny. It's tucked away on a side street and there wasn't a whole lot going on while I was there. I really wanted to see more Unikko print! I would not go out of my way to return. I'd just order online.
