Breakfast Club: Chefs from Michelin-Starred Restaurants Share Their Favourite Street Food

"The flavours of the vinegar, chili sauce and abalone sauce are very distinct yet work harmoniously when eaten together with the minced pork and noodles. I like that the egg yolk is runny, the vinegar is fragrant and not overly acidic, the sauce laced over the skewered abalone is rich and creamy, and noodles are springy. The minced pork is also not overly cooked and retains its moisture and softness. The 3 pieces of abalone on a skewer is also very generous for the $8 price tag. Expect to wait for five to 10 minutes during lunchtime." - Kenneth Goh

Marina Square Mall is one of the older yet most frequented shopping destinations in Singapore, popular with both locals and tourists. Strategically located in the heart of the city, it offers convenient access via the MRT and is directly connected to several five-star hotels. The mall features a wide variety of stores, primarily in the mid-range category, catering to a broad spectrum of shoppers. Dining options are plentiful, ranging from casual eateries to more upscale restaurants, making it a great spot for both shopping and dining.

A Great mall has events periodically in the Atrium. Currently there's exhibition on Barbie for a good clause.

Great mall but your feeder bus won’t allow passengers to board. It’s the hottest part of the day and rather I sit in the bus waiting for him to drive off

We went here to have lunch before visiting the landmarks around Marina Bay. Marina Square does not look or feel old, although it has been in operation since the late 1980s. It is well maintained and is continuously updated to keep up with the times. It is a very large mall, and there are just so many shopping and dining options. Its major plus is its location as it is at the heart of the Marina Bay area.

Tree Cafe was indeed a hidden gem with its affordable food and beverage. Their Iced Lemon Tea is👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼The Marina Square outlet served the best among the other branches (per my buddy’s experience)🤔My group of 5 able to enjoy & mingled ourselves the longest time spent in this cafe since we last met 8-yrs ago🥹Too much to catch-up with each & everyone😊Surely will return with my family next round😌

One of the best malls for food choices. This place has been around for years, since we were young and had undergone various transformations. They have also partnered with PSB academy to widen their cast of a range of age groups as part of attracting customers here. There are lots of food choices here, both halal and non-halal options. We walked up, down, left right and found one at every turn. There are also places that you can unwind n chill away here, and we even found 'durian' 🫢🫢. So walk around to try and find what we found. At the same time, there are constant events with booths every where. All in all, it is never a mistake to come by here and support business here! Cheers!

Marina Square has kept up with time, including new retail n food brands that cater to office workers n tourists. The centre podium has been put to good use in holding events to attract crowd to the mall. A place to find good priced food that suits one palate n then do some shopping to pick up what one needs. A popular family gathering place on weekends.

Yelp
Another mall in Singapore, this one has several shops and food places for you to experience. The place is clean and it is nicely air conditioned.

Yelp
Marina Square became like my second home while I stayed in Singapore. It was linked to my hotel and I visited daily, pleasant shopping, lots of local professionals strolling through Very clean and bright with easy connections to Esplanade and City Hall MRT

Yelp
Now this place was pretty confusing. In fact I found myself wandering around here for about five minutes and eventually got inside through the use of a fire exit (though the sign assured me that it was the way in, and no alarms when off, so I guess that was okay). In a way this is basically just another shopping centre like the hundreds of others you will find all over Singapore. Nothing all that spectacular here, and the only reason we landed up in the place was so that I could check out Carl Jnr (which wasn't worth it either).

Yelp
Marina Square is a older shopping mall in Singapore, yet popular among locals. While it contains mid-priced retailers unlike Orchard Boulevard's glamourous upscale retailers and specialty boutiques. Marina Link allow shoppers a direct access to Esplanade. Through extensive renovation upkeep with industry trends and changing times, Marina Square has revive its glory. A large food court with many options as Yoshinoya; the long established Hong Kong pharmacy, Watsons; U.S. coffee giant chain Starbucks, and Danmark's Andersen's.

Yelp
I only started to visit this place more regularly after the completion of the Circle Line, as it's just next to the Esplanade station. But Marina Square does see quite a bit of traffic, as it's linked to two hotels. As far as malls go in Singapore, this is pretty much unremarkable. You get your usual brands, shops, restaurants, event space, etc. But that doesn't mean it's bad. It's a very pleasant mall with lots of stuff to browse, and I quite like the layout and rooftop of the place. The food court, in addition, is worth a try. On the upside, this is the only place with a bowling alley for miles and miles. There's also a cinema tucked into the corner, which I highly recommend as the only other cinema in the area is at Suntec, and that one is run by the less popular chain Eng Wah.

Yelp
I kinda like the mall wayyy better that a lot of the new malls that are sprouting out every other week all over the country - it's pretty well connected to the MRT station, Citylink and to Suntec City. The stores have changed quite a bit over the years - but I still visit it for the staples. What I Love: The Food Court! It has really quite a spectacular view - which looks over the City Skyline - and you can see all the new monuments / sights of the City - from the Gardens By The Bay to the Marina Bay Sands Resorts. It's pretty cool - and when you come during the National Day rehearsals - the fireworks display is just awesome. There's a Topman, Zara and quite a few other brands. I love the Zara here - it's a big outlet - not as crowded as the ones in Orchard Road. What I Don't Love: It can get pretty crowded over the weekend - but apart from that - pretty cool mall overall! ;)

Yelp
Marina Square is one of the older malls in Singapore but recent renovations have definitely spruced things up a bit. The huge space in the middle of the mall is often filled with events and on-going promotions so do keep lookout to grab a bargain. Other than that , you can find the usual retail outlets like Zara and Massimo Dutti here. The one speciality shop you could probably find here would be the 2XU compression performance wear shop which is a hit with many sports enthusiasts. Besides parking being a real pain with the various zoning, Marina Square is a great mall with a great selection of eateries and fashion retailers.

Yelp
Being right next to Suntec, it's hard not to compare to two. So, compared to Suntec, Marina square seems a lot more run down and not as upbeat as Suntec. It contains more random small brands/shops rather than the well-known big brands.

Yelp
Oldie but goodie, Marina Square is a good place to watch a movie at the GV Cinemas here because it's never as crowded as downtown, yet it is accessible enough. I wish they would do more with the variety of shops here. The retail mix used to be far more interesting. Now it's just repeating the same mall formula as elsewhere. The food court and cinema are great. It's old but it's been renovated so many times the inside looks brand new. There is a satellite store of the famous Cathay Photo from Peninsular Shopping Centre, it's smaller but it carries a lot of things. It's connected to the two hotels and Suntec City.

Yelp
Marina Square is a good place to shop, especially if you want your usual high-street brands like Topshop and Zara. It does get a little crowded during the weekends but the crowd is far from Orchard Road's armpit-to-armpit kind of squeeze so it's still alright. One of Singapore's best food courts can be found here, there's an open air section that overlooks the waterfront. It gives you a splendid night view of what happens when the lights start beaming from the top of Marina Bay Sands. There was once I sat there with my best friend during dinner, the two of us just staring and reminiscing about life. HAH. Anyways, the food at the food court is generally above standards. If you reach Marina Square via Circle Line, you'd go past Esplanade Link. The restaurants there are worth a visit. I recommend Rock & Ash, a café where the fries are made to order with a variety of dips such as Wasabi Mayo and Bollywood Curry.
