The Best New Bars in Montreal, September 2022 | Eater Montreal

"This shiny new sibling establishment to Quartier des Spectacles bar Taverne Midway brings classic cocktails (Tom Collins, Negroni, Daiquiri, etc.) and plenty of Quebec microbrews and ciders to the Village in a bright, leafy green space. On warm weather days, expect Taverne Marion’s garage-style windows to be rolled wide open." - Valerie Silva

The Owners of Taverne Midway Open a Cocktail Bar in the Village | Eater Montreal

"I visited the new Village drinking spot Taverne Marion on Ontario Street East at the corner of Wolfe, which opened on February 15; co-owner Charles Landry says it offers a well-rounded selection of Quebec microbrews, wines, and seasonal craft cocktails. Currently on the menu are the “French Buccaneer” made with rum, pineapple, bitters, honey, ginger, and lime, and the “Siffredi” with bourbon, Italian herbal liqueur Lucano, coffee, and Demerara sugar. Because Marion has a food permit it has been able to operate under coronavirus guidelines ahead of the February 28 bar reopening, offering charcuterie, nachos, and wings for now, with a larger food menu and extended hours planned from March 14 when restaurants and bars can reopen at full capacity without vaccine passports. Bright and filled with bursts of greenery, Marion has white-washed brick walls and large garage-style windows that give the feeling of being outside (and will open into a terrasse in summer); the owners left behind the previous venue's video poker and pool elements when converting the space. Landry opened Marion with Midway partners Alexandre Théberge, Jean-Philippe Bouchard, and François Chamberland and named it after Théberge’s young daughter. The bar is currently open Tuesday to Saturday from 4 p.m. to midnight at 1151 Ontario Street East." - Valerie Silva

It appears they opened in 2022 roughly. We’ve been walking along Ontario Street for a long time and never really got the point to enter. One afternoon we decided to go for a walk and headed in a new direction. We entered It must’ve been a few minutes after four, there were very few people inside. We realized that they had just opened their doors for the day At 4pm. They have a pretty good list of drinks cocktails and a very good beer selection. They also have a happy hour with a price reduction on select drinks. The decor is very modern, there’s something inside that makes you feel energized. The services is great, Jerome was our server, and he took very good care of us. We only went for a few drinks, but will definitely come back and try some of their food.

A very simple bar in the middle of the heart of downtown. And let me tell you, they have some really good cocktails for a very good price for 5 à 7. I did really enjoy the cocktails and we tried there charcuterie board. Very delicious. I highly recommend this place if you would like to hang out with friends or go on a date. This bar is more than perfect.

Google
Came here a couple times. The vibe here is cool but not all the staff are so pleasant. Some just seem dissociated from their living experience... maybe they can drink? Anywho, the place is good for like a more upscale drink. It's a bit loud so not the easiest to talk but the ambience is more upscale.

Great last few drinks before our long departure home in the morning. The place was rather slow when we went, but enjoyable none the less. The Marion was a short walk to our Air BnB, which is one of the reasons we stopped in for a few night caps. Staff were super friendly and chatted with us. Drinks were fantastic. Would definitely go back.

Google
This bar is sooo cute. I love the ambience. the servers are really nice. Service is quick and for the times I’ve went, the drinks came at the same time as my food. The only thing is, I wish they had more finger food options.. but what they do have I enjoy and what’s perfect is they only stop serving food at 2:30AM. Drinks are good as well, they don’t go short on the alcohol which is great because that’s the whole point :D

Google
everything was great. until i tryed to pay, i offered an 8% tip. which apparently really upset our waiter. if you tip anything below 15% it means the service was bad. I told him that the service was great and that id keep it in mind and that i wasnt used to american tipping customs. he then told me he can chargeback the bill i already payed so i could tip another 7%. he was very pushy about getting that 15% tip which made me feel quite uncomfortable, not letting it go. in the end everything besides the very pushy server was lovely.

Yelp
We stumbled across this place on a recent trip to Montreal. It's a hidden gem! Not overly crowded but lively, even during the busy sumer tourist season. The staff is incredible and the cocktails are out of this world. I highly recommend the negroni. Fabulous. Taverne Marion also has an excellent local beer staff. Although I did not try the food there they look to have a good selection of pub food worth trying. We liked this place so much we went there 3x in 4 days and I even bought a t-shirt! I will definitely be back on my next trip to Montreal!
