So when we were deciding on dinner, my wife said she was in the mood for pizza. Knowing that doesn't happen as often as I'd like, I jumped at the chance. The only caveat was that she wanted a Grandma Pie since the sauce has a bit more flavor. I know which pizza place in the neighborhood is my go-to, but every once in a while, I like to try other places to see what else is out there.
The first time we tried Mario's Pizza & Cucina was about five months ago, and we ordered a regular cheese pie. It wasn't bad from what we remembered, so we figured we'd give them another shot since they were ranked pretty high on Yelp's local list. The place was nice and clean--nothing really different from the majority of local pizzerias.
However, when we got home and tried the pizza, I'm sorry to say it was a bit of a letdown. It lacked that extra flavor that comes with a Grandma Pie. The sauce was not robust enough, and overall, the pizza missed that salty kick. On top of that, knowing I paid an extra 20% for a Grandma Pie here compared to my normal go-to made me even more disappointed.
