Mario's Pizzeria & Restaurant

Had a great visit at Mario’s Pizzarea! We sat outside and enjoyed the great weather and experienced very kind staff. We came to this restaurant twice on our trip to Ocean City due to the cities lack of vegan options and both times were really good! They have a great tomato sauce and Mario’s has a dedicated vegan menu if you ask for it in the restaurant. The vegan chicken parmesan had a great flavor! I felt like it could've been cooked a bit longer though. The vegan pizza was good! Again, they have a great tomato sauce and they didn’t put on too much vegan cheese which is great. They have vegan sausage as well as vegan pepperoni available on the menu. I would skip on the vegan garlic bread, was dry and didn’t really satisfy. Overall, I would for sure return here if in the area again! They also had a vegan dessert menu, but we did not try any of those. Keep it up Mario’s and thank you for having vegan options!

We ordered pizza to go and also tried their gelato. The pizza crust was really good—crispy and flavorful. The highlight though was the Italian rainbow cookie gelato—absolutely delicious and unique! The only downside was the wait time—we had to wait about 45 minutes for the pizza. Worth it in the end, but just be prepared if you’re in a rush.

Excellent lunch specials. Many excellent menu items for vegans in my family. Very enjoyable pizza. Tasty red sauce. Lovely vegan soup. Salad dressing tasted home-made - delicious. Outdoor seating was perfect. Clean bathroom.

Very straightforward pizza/pasta/sandwiches place. They have ample seating as well as a takeout window. The portions were huge (we had lots of leftovers) and the server was friendly and attentive. Great spot for a simple meal post beach.

This is a great place to have a decent meal. The pizza is pretty good. The pasta I ordered was made well, and seemed to be made with quality ingredients. However, it desperately needed some salt/seasoning. But after adding some salt, pepper, and some grated cheese, it was amazing! Shrimp was fantastic, and so were the scallops. I would definitely recommend giving these guys a try!

Amazing vegan pizza!! So creamy and didn’t stick to my teeth like many vegan cheeses! So great to have an amazing option down the shore! I ordered from here 3 times during my week there- would highly recommend!

We put our name in @ 6:30pm. We had a party of 5 including our 3 year old granddaughter and 2 grandsons. We waited just about an hour and the only people still waiting was another couple. So I went to ask when we would be up and knowing they close at 8:30 on a Sunday. I could see there was a table for 2 and 2 tables for 4 available. She told me they were all going to be used. So , they buzzed the only other people waiting (the couple) and she sat them in the table for 2 which was aside of the one table for 4. I asked why she couldn’t please push the 2 & the 4 together since there was a 4 table available. She said they might need that. In the meantime it’s been an hour of waiting so I finally said that’s it and out the buzzer down and said that’s not how you do business and left. So we left and went to Kessler’s Corner. They treated the kids great and service was awesome.

We got pizza and wings. Obviously super expensive because it’s at the beach and it’s 2025 so that is what it is lol I’ve been coming to the ocnj for 30 years and this is the best pizza I’ve had in a while. Their wings however were like a rubbery weirdly breaded fake tasting chicken. Like the kind dominos has. Not real wings at all and kind of gross. 4 stars because like I said best pizza I’ve had in a long time!! Stay away from the wings though lol

They were very busy and down a server. They communicated the wait time, which ended up being very accurate. The 40 minute wait was well worth it! Food was amazing, everything that we ordered-from pizza to pasta dishes to their meatball salad. Eventhough they were extremely busy, the staff did a fantastic job.

Wow, had an amazing grilled veggie sandwich on an incrediable home made roll. Out server greeted us as soon as we entered. She informed us they had daily specials. The special I choose was truly a fantastic recommendation. My mother had a cheese steak made with sliced steak and it too was in an incrediable made to order roll. The eating are was clean and very welcoming. During warmer weather I saw they also have outdoor seating. I highly recommend Mario's for a great meal.

Love this place for a good cheesesteak Great bread and good meat makes a good sub and they have both .

Very nice little Italian restaurant that has been around since 1977, located on Bay Avenue in a quiet residential area of the island. My girlfriend, 9-year-old son and I had dinner here last night for the first time. We arrived at 6:30 on a Sunday night in the middle of summer fully expecting to have to wait awhile for a table, but surprisingly we were seated right away at a table outside. The menu is impressive, with all sorts of Italian specialties including pizza, pasta, sandwiches, etc. We got the seafood pescatore which was good, the lobster ravioli which was excellent, and my son got the cheeseburger and fries from the kids menu. There is no parking lot but we were able to find street parking less than a block away. They also do a lot of take out with a window on the side dedicated to that. Overall it was a pleasant experience with decent food, and we would definitely come back.

My party of 3 adults and 1 child was seated right away but the lady hosting us made a rude comment about the high chair. Left a sour taste in our mouth. The waiter came over right away for drink orders. He came back way too quickly for our dinner order. Once we were ready we got the chicken parm sandwich and a white pizza with spinach and mushrooms. They serve warm garlic bread while you wait. Pizza was soggy and SO oily. Didn't like the cheese either. Chicken parm was okay. Honestly nothing special. Have had way better pizza else where.

We were a large party (10) which meant we had to wait a bit to be seated. It was well worth the wait. All food orders came out steaming & were absolutely delicious. Orders included pizza, chicken cacciatore, manicotti (the special), cannelloni, chicken Parmesan, and some desserts. The value and quality of the food were matched by the service. Our server, Luke, was fantastic. We had three little kids with us and he was kind and attentive to them. Every bit of our visit was great. We will be back.

mario's is always a stop on the agenda when we're down the shore. the fact that they are open year round & have a vegan menu is something you can't beat. it's casual & the service is great. food is always good & even though they are usually busy, there's rarely a wait.

Easy parking. Friendly waiter. Fast service. Very nice ambiance. We ordered a Margherita pizza and veal parmigiana plus a cup of their Italian wedding soup. The food came out quickly and everything was delicious. The thin crust pizza was excellent. I did feel the waiter was almost too attentive. He kept asking us if we were ready to order and we were not. Some places are too slow but this was not the case. Other than that little tidbit, the restaurant served great food.

The food for Mario's is consistently fantastic. My husband loves their chicken sandwich. Generous portions and seasoned so perfectly. Our family truly enjoys the pizza as well. Soups are phenomenal.

This place sucks. Avoid at all costs. This holiday season, the family and I were reminiscing about our year. We were fondly remembering our annual trip to OC, then the topic of "worst dining experience of my entire life" came up. This place is awful. I try to find redeeming qualities and be understanding of the challenges this industry faces. But no. Not this time. I got seated immediately, which is nice. But it's all down hill from there. Our waitress was rude but I tried to be understanding. She warned us the pizza had a 45 minute wait. So we pivoted to some other dishes and placed our orders. We then waited and waited and after an hour, I had to ask about our food. Based on the staff's reaction they 1) didn't care and 2) never actually put in the order. The food eventually came out one dish at a time, and it was...bad. All of it. Kids spaghetti was disgusting. Like how do you mess up a kids spaghetti? I ordered wings for the table, which came out with our entrees. They were rubbery and never saw the inside of a fryer or top of a grill. The salad was all gross and wilty and it was like they were scraping the bottom of the walk in trying to find remnants of things to throw in it. For the first time in my life, I asked to speak to a manager. And guess what what? The bunch of teens running the place had no idea who was actually in charge. A guy came to speak to me eventually, and instead of letting him have it, I just told him that this was all bad. I paid my check and even left a tip. But the second I got in the car and started driving toward the boardwalk, I felt a rumbling in my guts. I knew what was coming. I had to turn around and head back to the vacation house to take a giant liquid dump. It was definitely the wings. I'm the only one who ended up eating them because they were so bad. My biggest regrets are leaving a tip and not returning to make my digestive problems a problem for their bathroom. This place sucks. I can taste when food is made with hate. And this place, their food is marinaded in hate. Owners should be ashamed of themselves. My New Year's resolution is to never eat here again.

Best Vegan Pizza ever ! Nice friendly service ! I recommend this place highly . The pizza had a serving of pizza sauce and cheese cooked perfectly not burnt !

Best pizza in ocean city hands down. Fresh ingredients with plenty of customization. I recommend the margarita Sicilian. Everyone is always super friendly with good service. I usually do pickup but they have a nice little dining area inside as well.

We ordered 10 pizzas for a family party and EVERYONE loved it! They had them ready on time, as we ordered ahead of time. They were hot and fresh! We recommend Mario's to satisfy all pizza lovers.

Eat here regularly for lunch. Food is excellent price is lower than expected. Daily specials are usually the same every day. Menu is loaded. Best pizza in town Waitress one of the best ever for sure

I can't remember when this business changed ownership however the meal I received last night for over $50 was a joke. I ordered a shrimp basket for 14 plus dollars it came with 10 Gorton's fisherman tiny shrimp fried that were mediocre at best. I also ordered penne alfredo with a meatball and a sausage which was very disappointing! The meatball was good and the sausage was okay however the Alfredo sauce was pathetic and disgusting. That's to say I was more disappointed in myself for not going to the store and making my meal myself!

If I could give it more stars I would! Food is beyond excellent if you're looking for Vegan options. They have a whole vegan menu and outdoor seating. Staff wonderful, food fantastic and great location/ setting. Highly recommended!

Revisited. Place is great when they are not too busy. Pizza delicious though often it seemed it was rushed a little out of the oven as the bread tasted like it could have been cooked more. Margherita in particular is quite good with its tasty sauce, mozzarella chunks and fresh basil. White garlic pizza also a winner. Maybe try ordering off hours? And choose pickup over delivery if you want to avoid the aggravation of a long wait during peak times. French fries were also really good. You can customize how they are cooked; we picked crispy and they were great.

We were really excited to find a restaurant with a vegan menu in ocean city during our visit! Unfortunately the European waiter was extremely rude from the beginning and also scoffed at the vegan menu going as far as to sneer "ha, I do not eat vegan food" with much judgement. Most people do eat "vegan" food every single day so his statement was not only rude but stupid.

We had a sit-down meal here as well as delivery. The food is fresh, flavorful, and high quality. I enjoyed the eggplant rollatini, my husband devoured his lasagna, and my son loved his lobster ravioli. We were stuffed, so we ordered several containers of their homemade rice pudding to go. Their rice pudding is delicious, with the proper proportion of cinnamon and milk to the rice. So, so good!!! When we arrived their was no wait, we were seated immediately. Another evening, we ordered a margarita and a white pie. Crispy crust, and perfect toppings. Of course, we had to also order more of that delicious rice pudding!!! And I also want to mention that the service was excellent! Mario's is now on our list as one of our favorite OCNJ dining spots!!!

The food was delicious! The waitress was helpful and friendly. I had the lasagna and my wife had the eggplant rollatini. We're picky with sauces and find that many places oversalt. Not so here. Everything was beautifully seasoned. They also make an incredible home-made rice pudding. If you're full, get it to go. You will be glad you did. We loved it so much, the next day, we thought we'd try their pizzas. Got one margherita and one white with broccoli. It was rainy, so we got them delivered. They arrived in the time the staff said (30 minutes). Pizza was hot and delicious. Margherita sauce had just the right amount of basil. White had nice chunks of broccoli and the perfect amount of garlic. Crust was medium thin with a nice bite. No sogginess at all. So this place is a total winner for us! One note about eating there--when we went, there was no air conditioning. Just open windows and a couple ceiling fans. That was fine for us. Though they do also have outdoor seating.

We had a really nice experience. Had sandwiches & salads along with cheesesteak egg roll appetizer. Very good. Service excellent. Parking on side street. Place is clean & nice

Ordered a feast for the super bowl and the food was delicious from the apps to their pizza it hit the spot would highly recommend.

Servers were less than friendly. A lady practically threw a wire basket with bread & butter on our table, never said hello. We had no utensils took a few minutes to get her attention to get utensils never apologized for not giving us utensils. My husband had calamari which was very good. I had rigatoni with bolognese which was alo very good. My husband had liquid with class in a red sauce. It was swimming in liquid, it was like a watery soup and had no taste. We told the waiter he just shrugged his shoulders. My husband o ly took 2 bites put of it. They never took it off of the bill but gave us a small container of rice pudding.

We got two pizza's, white and regular, a Stromboli, wings, French fries and onion right for take out on a Saturday night. Unfortunately everything was cold and soggy. I was told 45 min and arrived 40 min later. I went to the window and was pleased everything was ready. But drove a few blocks home and it was not good. I tried reheating the non pizza items but they were just soggy. I now they try but at these prices, I do expect the food to be edible. I left a tip for the kids working there as they were nice and efficient. Hope they actually got it.

The pizza was SO GOOD!! Caprese salad was something of a dream and the pizza fries were also delish. Will definitely be back before we head home. Crispy crust, plenty of flavor and cooked to perfection. Best pie on the island for sure

Always come here when I'm around the area. The best place for good tasting consistent food. Friendly staff and reasonable prices for generous portions. I recommend trying this place if you haven't already, you won't be disappointed

Wanted a nice sit down meal after a day of roaming the boardwalk. This place did not disappoint! My family enjoyed our meals and the portion sizes were huge. Friendly staff, nice cute place. Can't wait to come back.

Ordered two sandwiches, very simple order. Was told 35 minutes, then 5 minutes before pickup they called saying it would be another 25 minutes. Arrived when they said, and they told me it would be yet another 15 minutes. 0 time management for orders, 2 groups in front of me both cancelled their orders as well.

If it wasn't for how long we waited for our food it would have been a 5 star rating. The food was definitely worth the wait,but really shouldn't have taken that long as restaurant was not that busy when we arrived

Waited over an hour for 1 dinner to go , for a chicken parmesan..got home and is was eggplant Parmesan. The original owners were the best!

I visited this location today. I was extremely stoked to go to a place that had vegan and regular options so me and the family could enjoy a meal together. Once seated we were handed menus, I looked and did not see the vegan entree options (that I had seen originally online) and kindly asked if I could have a vegan menu. The waiter handed it to me and seemed annoyed. He returned to the table to take our order and my family insisted that I order first. I had a couple questions, 1) about the vegan cheese they used and 2) the size of the calzone. I was debating between 2 menu items and he dismissed me and looked at my daughter and said "are you ready to order" ? in a stern tone. She gave her order, then my husband ordered, then I ordered. The waiter asked if I wanted fries with my sandwich to which I replied, "yes". He brought salads out for my family (it came with their entree) I thought my fries would be brought out or at least asked, so I could eat something. He later returned to the table to tell my husband and daughter that the meatballs they ordered weren't made and would take 10 minutes and asked if they were ok with that.To which they replied, "that's fine" they continued to eat their salads. I patiently waited the "10-15" minutes for their meatballs thinking we would all be brought out our food at the same time. Around 25 minutes later... The waiter brought the 2 plates of pasta with meatballs and nothing for me, not even an update on my sandwich. My family felt bad eating theirs since I had been waiting so long. The waiter kept peering around the corner looking at the table, never once saying to me that mine would be right out or anything for that matter. I felt so irritated and felt like I was treated differently the moment I asked for a vegan menu. My family and I were so let down by this experience that earlier we were so excited for. I walked out before my food was brought out to go home because I was incredibly upset with the whole experience. I told my husband and daughter to enjoy their dinner and just get mine to go. My husband missed my texts (I was so angry about our night being ruined by the incredibly smug, rude and inexperienced waiter employed there.) I told him I did not want anything from their establishment. My husband came home with the Sandwich ,fries and 2 vegan desserts. THEY WENT RIGHT IN THE GARBAGE! Also, they said the meatballs were bland and the marinara didn't stick to the pasta. They got our $85.00, but lost customers and ruined our night. Ironically they claim to be vegan "friendly" So sad.

The service wasn't bad for the entire order. The pizza however took almost 2 and a half hours to make. We ordered around 6:30 and were told to come back in an hour and 20 minute. We came back to an almost complete order but they would not tell us where the pizza was or how much longer to the pizza being made. It eventually came out and it wasn't worth the wait.

Ahhh my request for over priced Ocean City Pizza takes me to Mario's and quite frankly this was pretty good! Had the Sicilian Pie and a salad and not bad. Dough was yummy and not too heavy. We did take out so ordering online was very easy. $37 total which I guess is normal in this neck of the woods. Will definitely try again.

Great service Very good food , authentic homemade red sauce that has the Jersey shore flavor . Perfect crust to n our pizza Neapolitan style thin crust with a nice crunch Meatballs cooked exact ally. How the should be Everything fresh from the garden taste Service is fast and very friendly .

Great italian place in ocean city! gnocchi is just perfect. their tomato sauce is great. beware of the fra diablo. very good, but extremely spicy !! service was pretty good as well.

Friendly, fast service, high quality, good value The restaurant is very clean and has a nice menu. The Italian gravy is very good. Cheesesteaks chock full of cheese. Must try!

The wait time for the pizza is ridiculous, plan to pick up your phone order twice as long what the staff tells you as we waited over two hours for two pizza when we were told it was an hour wait. We observed the Mario staff being rude to the other patrons who got upset or annoyed with the wait and were told that they need to wait additional time. If it's the weekend and you are hungry for pizza then I suggest you plan to order food from Mario's many hours in advance or go some place else. If you are a person who likes to wait for their food and be disrespected then this is your place Update: I appreciate the response from the restaurant and the pizza was delicious.

1 star, here's why. Totally my fault by the way. We were out and log on to Mario's website (against my better judgement as I always thought the pizza was just so so) and place an order for two pizzas at about 450 in the afternoon. We had company coming and needed to get home by a certain time. The site said the pies would be ready at 545. Super. Then at about 530 as we were in route to the place, they send me a text saying the order now wouldn't be ready until 620. Huh? We called them to check if this was right and to see if anything could be done. Instead of having a grown up conversation (one it's good business, two it's the mature thing to do) the guy says "you wanna cancel?ok" and CLICK--HANGS UP ON ME. What he didn't know is this isn't the first time I've had an issue like this there, but thought we'd give them another shot. And this is why it's my fault. Why would I continue to support a place that gives me overpriced, very mediocre food complete with an unprofessional attitude? If that's your thing, then I highly recommend this place. Otherwise, there are a bunch of other very good pizza places on the island run by folks who know how to run a business that you should check out.

We waited less than 10 minutes to open up our order and everything was cold. Rubbery, half-cooked mozzarella sticks with watery marinara sauce, fries tasted like they were reheated out of the fridge (and not long enough), and pizza with floppy crust and cheese that was half-melted...all of it was bland, too. I called about the order on the way home from the shore -- we didn't realize the food wasn't up to par until we left -- and got disconnected. The owner seemed indifferent when I asked if someone hung up and he didn't apologize for losing the connection 'due to another call incoming.' He then proceeded to explain several times why my pizza wasn't cold because the temperature of the oven made that impossible... I'm not sure why your 600 degree oven isn't working but yes, my pizza wasn't hot! We opened the box in the same amount of time it would take to be delivered locally and it wasn't just the wrong temperature, it also wasn't seasoned. He refunded part of our order (not the pizza, because I was indirectly accused of lying) which is why I left 2 stars. I'm disappointed and won't risk returning due to the hassle of picking up food in the pandemic. It's too much work to have someone remake an order that they see no problem with when it tasted like cold school cafeteria food.

I absolutely love Mario's and their food. They need this one star to hopefully get their attention on their horrendous phone service. They have implemented an answering service where you press one to place an order. When you do, it says transferring your call. Then it repeats the first message and asks you to press one again. After doing that it says "we are unable to take your order at this time, please call us back." This new service is actually worse than the user busy message that we all got the past three years. While that was maddening too, at least you could quickly redial and get a chance within 25 times that they would pick up and take your order. With this nonsense it just holds you on for 40 seconds and makes you press numbers through menus to get the message to try again. The ABSOLUTE worst thing about this is two weeks ago I was dining in and they were not busy with dine in or carryout. In fact most people in the kitchen area were just standing around. I called from the restaurant and I got this same message even though nobody was on the phone and it didn't even ring. I have found that when I do eventually get through, they tell me 15 minutes and my food is ready when I get there with very few people picking up. When they are really busy I have been told two hours and gladly waited. Yes they are busy, and I am glad. They probably have enough business that they don't care if people go elsewhere, but at least have the decency to say that they are at order capacity for the night or something. This arrogant runaround will cost them long time customers and at some point the majority of their customers. I would gladly order online, but they do not have their full menu or the ability to select your pasta type like you do in the restaurant. Frustrating that I will have to downgrade to Manco tonight to settle my pizza craving.

I really enjoy carry out during the COVID situation from Mario's. So how are they doing during this crisis? Update, no in restaurant dining, outside seating, carry out is rockin. They are not very good at answering the phone for orders so they are are dropping the opportunity ball on business. Wait time are excessive but if you plan ahead the long wait is worth it. I would give them a 2.5 out of 5 on how they are handling business during COVID. They should be all over this with their delicious entrees and pizza. Might want to try delivery.

Food- hecking DELICIOUS!!!! Shrimp Caesar wrap is fire. Pizza (both regular and vegan) is banging!!! 10/10 everyone needs to try Mario's. Service- fabulous. They're all so kind there. Ambiance- perfect casual date night or family night spot. Love love love Mario's.

It looks like a typical pizzeria when you walk past but the food options and service is amazing. The servers worked so well as a team!! The bread was amazing and the food too. I had vegan baked penne and it was perfectly cooked. My husband loved his gnocchi and vodka sauce and he is very picky with gnocchi. First of all it is very hard to find places that have a full vegan menu or let alone a good amount of options, I was very please with the menu. I can't wait to go back!!

Thank you for vegan options!! Went with a large party and everyone enjoyed their meal!! I am vegan and was very very pleased with the extensive selection of vegan options. I just got spaghetti with marinara and vegan meatballs. Delicious! I also had the bruschetta and minestrone which were also good.

Great pizza. Hot and fresh for our pickup. First time having a regular pie after having the margarita so many other times. Great pizza

Stopped by for lunch. Quick service. Our family had some regular slices, specialty Sicilian slices and a focaccia sandwich. The sandwich was huge and the sicilian slices were big too. Food was very good!
