"Neiman Marcus’s upscale restaurant Mariposa plans to host a few players from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday, so eager fans can “meet and greet” while sipping specialty cocktails and trying game day menu offerings. Drinks include the “Double Dribble” (Hennessy VSOP, Grand Marnier, stone fruit) and the “Perfect Layup” (Belvedere Mango Passion vodka, lemongrass, lime), with fancy twists on game day fare like “Deviled Eggs 4 Ways” (applewood bacon, tomato jam, smoked salmon, caviar) and turkey chili (blue corn chips, pico de gallo, cheddar). Check out the various events." - Naomi Waxman, Ashok Selvam

We ordered two burgers and one chicken plate. The chicken was good. But one of the burgers was fully burnt. We were in rush so we didn’t even brought up the burnt burger to the attention of the kitchen. Not visiting again. It’s a below normal place nothing fancy. The parking is $22 dollar. The average price of plates were $25 and more.

Google
Made a reservation since the reviews showed some lobster rolls but it wasn't on the menu so definitely check beforehand. The gyoza was really good but the burger was not. Burger was overly charred on the outside which made it bitter and the bun used became soggy and fell apart quickly. Food came out fast though. Lasty the price on the check didn't line up with the menu for the gyoza. I honestly wouldn't recommend this place for food. It is pretty quiet so I'd recommend this place for conversation and maybe some drink.

Google
This is a great restaurant with great service! They serve popovers and chicken when you arrive. We have a really great menu and the service is prompt. I had the turkey club.

Google
Beautiful place for lunch and the food and drinks were pretty good. I think the day I was there they were woefully understaffed and so service was very kind but also very slow. I of course would still return as the convenience and atmosphere outweighs one trips worth of slow service.

Google
Reserved a table for one on Open Table and stopped for a quick lunch... because I love popovers. Marcus Nieman has a good thing going on with the strawberry butter/ popover combo. Add in thoughtful service (this time an unexpected chicken consomme) and the waiter kindly substituted some wilted spinach and a salad for my frites - all told, it’s a great experience and not as expensive as you might expect (at lunch at least!). I wish the view were better but everything else is perfect.

Google
Great holiday cocktails and decorations. It's expensive but worth it. Large portions. Free chicken bullion and popover with strawberry butter. Free chocolates with bill.

Google
Very elegant restaurant on the top floor of Neiman Marcus. The staff are friendly and professional. The day I ate there they offered an amuse bouche of chicken consommé. The lobster roll was excellent.

Google
I love that the meal starts off with some consommé and the popover with strawberry butter. The food is always delicious, but the service is why I’m leaving a review. Elvira is an amazing server. She remembers special things like what drink I usually order and therefore is a step ahead of us, anticipating our needs and making us feel special. Thank you!

Yelp
This restaurant is top notch. Service has always been consistent and the food is delicious . Atmosphere is excellent for everything from leisure to business as it doesn't get too loud to hear the person sitting across from you. Always a safe choice having my business lunches here.

Yelp
Just spoke with the manager. She reached out to me and is going to make this right. Super appreciative and love that they care about their customers. After speaking with her we will definitely be back.

Yelp
So usually we love coming to Mariposa - I'm not sure if they were under staffed or what the deal was this time but we waited more than 10 minutes after being seated for a server, a menu, or any recognition. So we decided to just switch from getting food and drinks to just drinks since we were already here and clearly something was off. Since we didn't have menu we rattled off a few drinks and then the server came back to us almost immediately and said they only had ingredients to make one of the drinks which ended up being the blackberry lemonade cocktail off the one menu we got. So we all got that. It was delicious but smalllll- since the drinks came fast and were so good we decided to get another round. This time they came in a larger glass... when they brought the second round we asked for the check and then waited about another 8-10 minutes for the check. We will go back because we normally have such a great experience - I hope they've figured out whatever their issue was

Yelp
Just love this place. Beautiful restaurant, perfect service, delicious food. The popovers are simply the best ever. We wanted more, but resisted. The lobster roll was fresh and so scrumptious, as were the tuna tacos. So comfortable and pleasant - what a great place for lunch.

Yelp
I was very pleasantly surprised by Mariposa. It's a family favorite for my girlfriend so she wanted to go on our day off. Only 2 other people there . Well done decor. Servers were really nice, responsive and helpful. The meal starts with fresh popovers and strawberry butter seriously happy, and then an amazing cup of chicken consommé that was incredibly full flavored and completely clear....skills here. I had the burger and fries, both of which were done very well and the burger was perfectly cooked, fries were great too. She had the roasted turkey Panini made with thinly sliced house roasted turkey, with house chips. Another perfectly done sandwich, and the chips were very good. Carrot cake to finish that was a bit too much frosting for me, but not overly done, and the cake and frosting were very good. The bottle of Veuve we split made for a perfect lunch before a relaxed walk down the Mag Mile :)

Yelp
Although there were many empty tables at noon, the host at the entrance didn't let us dine in because we didn't make a reservation. He said very coldly that they cannot take a walk-in until 2pm.

Mary M.

Yelp
Where to start....the wait for a host to approach was about five minutes. After 35 minutes of sitting, we had to flag our server down to place our order. Never once touched the table or offered to refill our drinks. We asked for the coffee and dessert menu and she ignored that request and never came back. I use to dine here often pre-COVID for work lunches and I will never be back again.

Pras C.

Yelp
I reserved a lunch table for one on Open Table and arrived at 11:30. I enjoyed complementary chicken consomme (courtesy of the chef), a popover and strawberry butter, a small pot of tea and steak frites with a substituted salad for the fries. My check was $34.57. Food was great. My server, Adrian, was attentive and prompt. Bussing is on point. Lovely decor. I wish the view were more romantic. But this was a good experience and price was not too crazy. Recommended!

Yelp
We came here for a work lunch. The restaurant itself is beautiful. It is very quiet and clientele seem mostly like retired folks who spent the day shopping and got hungry. We were seated right away and very respectfully. The staff brought us water as soon as we sat down. It is a great place for a work meeting. The menu is full of a lot of American comfort food. They bring you these rolls which are basically like a croissant meeting a roll meeting coffee cake, fantastically crispy on the outside and soft on the inside with a rich butter finish. Definitely dangerous for your waistline. I ordered the California club sandwich. It was huge. So big I couldnt even finish half of it much less all the sweet potato fries. The food is good and very fresh though probably not the best place to come on a diet or if you are trying healthy lifestyle change!

Andre H.

Yelp
Very elegant high end establishment We enjoyed a very nice lunch. The food was very good though a bit pricey. Our wait staff was excellent. Attentive, friendly and helpful

Yelp
This is my favorite Neiman Marcus restaurant. The view is great because it's on the top floor of the Neimans on Michigan Ave. The staff is amazing. They are so polite and efficient. The best part is obviously the food. It's all extremely fresh and great quality. Each meal starts with popovers and broth, both very refreshing. My favorites include the grilled shrimp salad, Tuscan turkey sandwich, and chicken paillard.

Patrick J.

Yelp
Great food to be in a department store. High end healthy food, great portion sizes for the health conscious. Great place for lunch.

Yelp
Two weeks prior to a lunch date I went in person to make reservations with the manager and we targeted table #93 being at the windows. On the day of our ladies' luncheon our #93 table was occupied and guests were just getting served. The manager told me that she made a note that we would be "by the windows". Not true as I had asked her specifically for the number of the designated table. Could it be that we were displaced because we were a minority group? I could see no other reason.

Yelp
I recently lunched at Mariposa with clients; it was not my first time here, but it was, as ever, wonderful. The décor is tranquil and modern, in soft, warm neutrals; the gents is very handsomely fitted with greys and tobacco browns. The service was excellent, throughout; our waitress, Jessica, was attentive, polite, friendly, and courteous. She took very good care of my clients, and made sure my water glass was always filled. I like to drink water, so this is very important to me. I ordered the steak frites and they arrived perfectly cooked, piping hot, with spinach. I asked for some Dijon mustard and it came with the meal, but on the side (which was very nice). In France, of course, they call it 'moutarde traditionelle' which means, essentially, 'traditional mustard'. They're not kidding, either. Now, I love spinach. It's so yummy. I should have liked a bit more, but that's just me. I love spinach! If I may suggest...some creamed spinach, as an option? Just a suggestion, of course. Luncheon begins with a small cup (too small, in my opinion) of very good, very hot chicken broth, served in a demitasse. Oh, it was so delicious! I love home-made broth; this was a big 'plus' for me! Now, about the dessert. Oh, baby. Oh, baby, baby, how was I supposed to know.... Hit me baby one more time! Sing it, girlfriend! We ordered a piece (one!) of carrot cake and hot diggity dog! It was ENORMOUS and DELICIOUS! Yeah baby yeah! Here's a helpful tip: One serving will easily accommodate four persons. Really. I mean that, sincerely. NO ONE can eat a serving of this cake, alone. Well, I suppose they could, but.... The coffee was also very good, strong and hot, just the way I like it. (don't go there) I love this restaurant. Don't let any tourists in.

Yelp
My husband and I went here with two out-of-town guests for lunch. It is a beautiful and elegant restaurant - easy to have a conversation, too. We were in the corner booth and had a great view of the entire place! We were greeted by delicious and warm popovers and consomme soup.We also ordered a couple roasted turkey sandwiches (for two different people), butternut squash soup and the falafel wrap. Great flavors in the wrap / sweet potato fries, and the turkey sandwiches were very tasty. To cap it off, we had key lime pie for dessert -- extremely enjoyable! I would recommend to anyone looking for a quiet place to dine. I think they're only open during the day (close before dinner), which makes sense since the restaurant is in Neiman Marcus. I wish they were open later so my husband and I could enjoy dinner there together (would be very romantic)!

Yelp
The mister and I are always down for a Socialite Babe lunch, and this is the perfect spot. Service--from beginning to end--is top notch. The interior is bright and stylish with Calder tapestries flanking the walls. Yummy, strong cocktails. Beautifully prepared and flavorful food. If breakfast is at Tiffany's...lunch is at Neiman Marcus!

Yelp
Very nice place to have a rest when you are tired while shopping. Excellent service and good food. The only complain is working hours are too short. Haha:)

L. Danovia ..

Yelp
It was a treat just getting to the restaurant. I window shopped all the way there. #jomalone The popover was to die for. I couldnt make up my mind on which drink I fancied most so I got both. Next day I have some free time I will add Mariposa to the agenda.

Yelp
This little hidden cafe is a gem on Michigan ave. We stopped by for lunch during a shopping trip and the food and service was impeccable. We ordered a lobster toast and caesars salad. The bread was one of the highlights . We ordered multiple refills of bread. The price is a bit on the higher side but it's definitely worth it.

Yelp
Loved my experience here at Mariposa as it was my first time. I've only ever been to Zodiac room but not downtown so it was nice to experience this for a Sunday brunch with my mom. We did some shopping downstairs and decided to go have some tasty lunch since we were too tired to walk anywhere far. We got a nice table by the window and ordered away. The place is a more modern twist to the traditional Zodiac Room but it went well with the Michigan Avenue store. Okay, so let's talk about those popovers, I swear those things alone deserve five stars, they are to die for, and seriously the best part of eating at Neimans. Oh and that strawberry butter that goes along so wonderfully with them, I mean wow! How can I fail to mention the little chicken broth soup that I have with the popover, it is so very tasty and now that fall is on our way, it's the perfect thing to have on a chill, crisp day. I take that back, it's good anytime of year. We ordered the salmon platter as an appetizer which had a fabulous presentation but we could have passed since our entrees were enough. My mom ordered the thai scallops which she seemed to really enjoy. I wanted to get the turkey panini but then when I saw a cheeseburger brought out for someone else with gorgeous skinny frites, I quickly changed my order and got the burger. I asked for well done and it was over done so that's the reason I didn't give them 5 stars. I wasn't in a hoity toity mood to send it back but for a $17 burger which can easily be shared by the way, I want it done right. The service I must say overall was very good, our server was sweet and attentive and everything was brought out as it should be brought out. For drinks my mom got the strawberry margarita and I got the fruity sangria and both were also delicious. As if we weren't full enough, because I seriously should have been done with my broth and popover but nope, we had to try one of their desserts. We shared the creme brulee and it was beautifully presented but I didn't love it, it was a little warm like it was sitting out for a while and the flavor just wasn't like it is at RL or some other places. Overall, a great little lunch spot, not a foodie place, but a girly place for after too much shopping or window shopping. If breakfast is at Tiffanys, than lunch is at Neimans.

Yelp
Lovely as it can be but I miss the Zodiac room and those strawberry popovers. Addictive as crack I say but I digress. The servers here are wonderful. And, unlike the Zodiac my husband will join me for lunch here and not feel like the only male in the room! Surprisingly impressive offerings of wine by the glass but I'm a cocktail girl and they have made me happy with my martinins on the rocks and vodka gimlets. I love getting a nice buzz going in the afternoon. Their menu is seasonal and they list the calories for each and every entree, even the kiddie entrees! My favorite sammie is the grilled cheese with tomato jam. I also like their grill chicken sammie with arugula and the scallops with an Asian twist. My husband is a meat and potato guy and has enjoyed their version of steak frites and their cheeseburger with some special sauce that we always joke about (we've been married a long time). Lots of designer bags and clothes here. It's a nice place to take your wife or mom to for a fancy schmancy lunch.

Yelp
Chicken piccata was superb- it was lemony capery goodness. The service was unbeatable- aside from the attentive service by the server- the busboy was always there to remove any unwanted utensils/pieces of ephemera (wrapper from the straw, lemon wedges etc) that somehow always show up when i eat (maybe that's just me). The popover with strawberry butter was so ridiculously good (i'd come back just for that). Overall- a nice experience that i will be sure to repeat

K M.

Yelp
I had a wonderful experience today at Mariposa. The service, food and decor is fantastic! We met the chef, he couldn't be more gracious and welcoming. I have not eaten at NM in years since they are only open until 4pm. But, I'm going to make it a point to stop in on weekends for a late lunch!

Mani T.

Yelp
This was just a great experience overall. The popover with strawberry butter was so delicious as well as the broth. We had the crab salad and chicken salad. Both couldn't be more perfect. Outstanding prompt service was perfect to grab lunch on a busy weekday.

Amy M.

Yelp
I love this restaurant! Great views, great service, delicious food, and relaxing atmosphere. The views: you get a view of downtown chicago, and on a sunny day it's just lovely. The food: oh my, it was spectacular. You get a complimentary popover with sweet strawberry butter. Also, a little cup of consomme. I could have made a meal out of the popoves and consomme. I had the charcuterie plate with Miraval Chateau wine and the soup of the day. Excellent wine selection. The service: they knew when i was done with each course! So i didn't get my charcuterie when i was still working on my popover. Atmosphere: very ambient, very relaxing. It's a "ladies who lunch" kind of place. I can't wait to go again.

Bernard W.

Yelp
Came to Chicago for conference and randomly bump into this place and I gotta say I am very happy with the food

Mrs. F.

Yelp
Like other "ladies who lunch", I love lunching at NM and enjoyed Mariposa and the Zodiac Room for its delicious food, great service, and lovely atmosphere. But...last week's lump crab salad was just lump crabmeat, scooped from the can, served on a bed of yellow (old?) and tasteless head lettuce, with some avocado. The service was outstanding and the coffee was excellent, but stay away from the crab salad! My companion had salmon, which she pronounced was divine--and everything else I have ever ordered has been divine too! But $36 (including tip) for the crab salad with an iced tea, and coffee is a bit steep.

Leah B.

Yelp
While our food was good, the service left much to be desired. We were immediately seated upon arrival, but it took 15-20 minutes for a server to come to our table. We had to ask several different workers for a waiter. The restaurant was almost empty, so it's not like our waiter was busy. Once we got our food the popovers and soup were delicious as always. So was the salmon salad.

Tara P.

Yelp
I loved it here for lunch. We were met by a very nice maiter'd who made us feel very comfortable and welcomed. The restaurant looks beautiful inside, much more contemporary and stylish, but not an overly trendy feeling. Just a very nice visual setting to enjoy a wonderful lunch, and extremely well set up with beautiful table settings. Just perfect. It is not a stuffy feeling at all here. As far as the menu, I think there is much more of a variety than Zodiac. Plenty of sandwiches to chose from, chicken, turkey, and tuna, innovative, creative salads with so many different kinds of vegetables, fruits and different greens, main courses of salmon and chicken, appetizers like hummus, vegetarian lentil soup. I ordered the crab salad which was full of crab, tomatoes, greens, avocado, mango seasoned just right with not too much dressing. It was fantastic, served beautifully and visually appealing. It was so appetizing. That's what makes this restaurant special. the way the food is prepared, the variety on the menu, and there are healthy food services with so many different vegetables and of course the atmosphere. If you are a vegetarian, or want to eat healthy, there are many options on the menu for you. In fact, I think all their selections lean towards healthy eating. I also like the way they list the calories and cholestrol for each item. Also, the service was great. I think this restaurant took a fantastic turn for the better, with expanding their menu, the creativity of the food, the renovation, and terrific service. Don't be put off because it is in Neiman Marcus. You do not get a stuffy feeling here at all, and will not feel uncomfortable if you even come here by yourself. We are still talking about how nice our lunch was. My partner had the grilled salmon and loved it. There are many factors that contribute to a success of a restaurant and I feel Mariposa succeeded.
