Mariscos El Charco

Mixed Fajitas were bland and we paid almost 30 dollars for steak that tasted like it had already browned while being stored prior to cooking- funky taste and smell, chicken wasnt seasoned. The server was attentive tho which was our only plus. The bill includes tip and 4% charge for using credit cards. I will say the ceviche that comes to the table when you sit down, that was good and that's why i give the food 2 stars instead of 1.

Food was delicious!!! Authentic and they had live music. Only thing no one spoke english really but if you want real authentic food you have to come here!

There was live karaoke & great music this night. My server was so sweet & very attentive & the food was so delicious, I had the chapuzon, and it was perfect. It didn't have the oysters, but the food was still great. The drinks were perfectly made with the right amount of alcohol. The restaurant was clean and lively.

Had a wonderful dinner. Pulpo was amazing as was the Red Snapper! Service was first class with attentive and helpful staff. Would definitely recommend and will be back!

Great place for Mexican style seafood and more. They have regular Mexican food such as tacos but they also have seafood. I had the shrimp tacos and they where really good. Love the sauce they put in them. It wasn't hot sauce. Not sure what it was, but tasted great. A little pricey there but it's worth it. On weekends they have a Dj of some sort. I drove by and saw lights and people dancing. Highly recommended!

From texas it’s hard to find good quality mariscos seafood mex style in Illinois but this place is ok good food nice portions . Would’ve been 5 starts except the waitress service is horrible. Get ready to place your own drink orders because the waitress does not mannnnnn worse customer service ever took them almost 20 minutes to bring me a drink 3 times I had to go up to the bar to order a drink then gave it to me within 1 minute and wanted to charge me 40 tip on. The bill I would’ve just paid the bill - the tip for the service

Honestly, this place has gone downhill. Now they charge you extra if you pay with a card, which makes your bill higher for no reason. Feels like they just want everyone to pay cash — super inconvenient. And on top of that, every single time they ask if you want botana — for the prices they charge, they shouldn’t even be asking. It should be included. It’s just disappointing

The vibes here were awesome for a girls night out! The fish ceviche is plenty for two if you’re looking to just snack, the Paloma’s are also amazing!🔥

The food and service was amazing, the food is tasty and came at a right time, we appreciate the service and Vanessa our server was on point, she was attentive and very caring, I had a great time.

Yesterday, I stopped in here to have a sporadic lunch date with a friend. The restaurant was clean and vibrant, playing Afrobeats and Spanish music. The food was just ok, and they didn't provide a lot of options for salsa. They only had one option. It was a really hot jalapeño like salsa. It's pretty flavorless besides the taste of the pepper. I had the fish taco plate. My friend ordered some shrimp in tomatoe sauce plate. She had to send it back because the shrimp were spoiled. The worst part of the visit is that the waitress spoke minimum English. It made ordering extremely difficult. We had to Google a translator and use hand gestures to explain things. Unless you're bilingual or speak Spanish as a native language I wouldn't recommend this place. I felt like we were playing the game "Gestures". Sorry, didn't get but one photo for you guys. Just wasn't all that into this experience.

Horrible experience i went for My birthday and to try seafood boil first of all we did not get it in a bag like they advertised also the shrimp was bad the horchata was bad the food was bad in general and they didn't give us anything in return

We really enjoy the shrimp plates and ceviche from here. The service is fair and the ambiance makes it difficult to hold a conversation on weekend nights. What brings me to give one star rating is because they continue to decide what percentage tip they will charge. My receipt came with 18% gratuity already included when it was a 2 person table. They just sneak it in. Always check your receipt.

Went to their karaoke competition tonight to support a friend singing. Most are Spanish-speaking, but they're super welcoming and more than willing to fetch an English-speaking server. We had the Mojarra Victoria, a whole tilapia with shrimp, mussels and octopus with a light tangy sauce. It was the BEST seafood dish I've ever eaten. Fresh, light, non-greasy, cooked PERFECTLY. My husband doesn't like fish and he loved it. He said it wasn't fishy. We were in awe it was so good. It's pricy but the plates are big and the seafood is quality. I'll remember that fish dish for a long time. It was like an awakening on the plate and a true experience--yes, it was that good.

Came here a few days ago had a very high standards. I'm Mexican myself so I've been eating Mexican cuisine since I was born. Was very disappointed with the food. It looked good however lacked flavor. Lots of spice, but no flavor. The margaritas were actually good. The service was good. The music was good. The food was mediocre and overpriced. I would only recommend this place if you wish to have drinks. Queso fundido was tasty! I ordered the guac tasted like shit. It tasted like cardboard. I did not appreciate someone that was not even my server trying to charger upsell me on a tequila when I had simply asked for the house tequila. Double check your tab before you pay because they will up charge you.

Absolutely delicious! Small place and there was karaoke going on. I live the crab dip they give you when you arrive with crackers and tortilla chips. I had a shrimp burrito which was perfectly seasoned and cooked. This is a hidden gem. I will definitely come back!

Horrible horrible horrible! Its loud. Ghetto. Food not that great. And the waiters/hostess are ruuuude. Came with my whole family including my sisters family and my parents. My 1 year old son was touching the lights on the wall and the hostess comes over and tells us not to touch the lights cause be can get shocked and then grabs him! Obviously my son started screaming, crying, and kicking since a stranger tried to carry him! Do not touch/carry kids that are not yours! Keep your hands off you weird! Also don't order the camarones a la diabla they were waaaay to spicy even for my husband!

Communication on the phone was terrible from the person on the phone. She didnt place my order correctly. When I arrived to pick up she asked me what I ordered and asked me if I was sure. That was a dumb question since I was the one who placed the order. she also mentioned that a female placed the order and I am a female , it was obviously I who placed the order. With all that confusion finally cleared after going in circles, I waited an extra 15 minutes to finally receive my order. I ordered a small shrimp ceviche. It cost $18. For that price I expected the cup to be full at least. Terrible first impression.

Had high hopes going in but was very disappointed in the quality of the sea food. Way too overpriced for the quality that they serve.

From the extensive Mexican menu highlighting fish dishes to the friendly servers- this was an awesome restaurant to celebrate a friends birthday. Happened to be there Karaoke night which added to the fun atmosphere. Will be back with family for sure!

Worst experience ever! Placed an order over the phone, once picked up I come to find out they did not pack it correctly! Didn't even make it to the parking lot! Told them about the issue they blamed me for it being my fault?????? Why would i waste 110 dollars worth of food? I asked them for my money back did not even want the food at this point, they denied said they would remake everything! Waited 3 hours!!! for them to remake it! I kept insisting for my money back and they refused!!!! Oh and to top it off I was supposed to get money refunded for an item they didn't have that I paid for!!!! THAT MONEY WAS NEVER REFUNDED! Stay away! Worst worst worst experience. Safe to say I won't be back ever!

Had a dinner reservation. Got there 5 minutes late due to traffic. They did NOT honor our reservation and confirmation. Said they would find us a seat in 10-15 minutes. We left after 20 minutes.

I've gone 4 times and honestly , I think the food is a good 4/5 I recommend you trying it out. Their service is good and I honestly enjoyed my meal with the karaoke.

I know not everyone comes here for pasta but the spicy (seafood) marisco pasta is to die for it's so good! 10/10

We are regulars here to eat in, but today I Placed an order by phone, ordered some food and ASKED IF we can order margaritas ON THE ROCKS for carryout, the worker said yes. Went to pick it up, the margaritas were FROZEN BLENDED smoothies. Told the worker and she goes "sorry we can't sell on the rocks margaritas for carry out." WHY DIDNT YOU SAY THAT ON THE PHONE WHEN WE ASKED YOU? When we get home, these blended margaritas did not have a single drop of alcohol, and we were charged their premium price for alcoholic margarita. NEVER AGAIN. Not even going to bother calling to complain because these people are inept. No ordenen margaritas para llevar porque no le ponen alcohol pero si bien que se lo cobran. They also did take forever and weren't even that busy.

Place is very clean but after the friendly staff that's where it ends. I ordered the fried red snapper that is listed for $20 but was charged $26 for being a bigger fish. The fish was over cooked and smelled very fishy = not FRESH huge turn off when being delivered to the table smelling like a girls high school locker room. My friend had some sort of fish compost that he said was ok. For lunch with no alcohol the bill was 70 lucky we spotted they added 18% gratuity WHO does that for two ppl at lunch. The music was way to load.

This place i have been curious about since i saw it. It looks like a tiny place in the corner hiding from me. Lol So finally, me and my boyfriend went here on a random night. And its absolutely a great decision. We had the ceviche fish and shrimp mix. We finished it like super quickly. We got the thing in a pineapple as well, thats really really good too. Super satisfied with everything we ordered except for the tacos... seems like something is missing that i could not figure out. But so far ok. Would definitely be back to try more yummy plates.

I'm sorry but ppl got to know before they step into this place!! Customer service is just non-Existent oder was not only wrong but horrible failed to provide the crackers for the cocktail to top it off.

New business & wanted to give them a try as we normally get tacos/burritos from El Faro 3 across the street Inside is clean & very nicely decorated Staff/employees were kind, professional & pleasant Wait time was very minimal waiting for the food to be prepared The food was amazing, tasteful with fresh ingredients and large portions We had steak burritos (that come with fries) and a side of guacamole for $25 Delicious & we'll be back!

This place has really great food. But it is a bit ghetto. Especially if you go at nighttime. I decided to go at nighttime for dinner. And when i parked i noticed loud music and lots of people. I should have just turned around lol. But i decided to go because i really wanted their langostinos (really good). Before we even order our food, they were kicking out a lady who was so drunk and could not walk. Her boyfriend had to help her out by carrying her and her daughter looked so scared and sad. It was heartbreaking. My question is, why would they let them sit at the bar with a child?!!! And why didn't they cut her off? We placed our order and start eating and that is when we hear a bunch of glass fall and the music stopped. (They had kareoke btw). The poor dj who was singing fell with his computer! I felt bad for the guy because everyone stopped and stared and his work computer cracked. The whole night was a hot mess! I just wanted to leave before something crazy happened. Mostly men go to drink at stay at the bar. So it is very ghetto. I would recommend the food but go early or weekdays.

Ordered a lot of food today. Spent over $130 through DoorDash to get it delivered. Somebody from the restaurant called me telling me they have beans and no rice and then tells me they have salsa and guacamole and no chips. Very disappointing!! I said that's fine if you don't have rice, she offered french fries & I said that that was fine. After I get my food I noticed there was a double helping of black beans in everybody's lunch and when I called to question it she told me "I told you whatever we had". Needless to say I order lunch pretty much every week and spend about $100-$150 but I will no longer be using this restaurant. I've never known a Mexican restaurant not to have Spanish rice or chips to go with guacamole or salsa.

10.3.17 - As I was heading to get tacos from another local taco establishment in Elgin, I saw this new restaurant that caught my attention: tacos and seafood!! The restaurant has been open for one week. When I first came in you can tell the restaurant was new as they were still hanging up the TVs. The restaurant was very clean and modern. I love the decor. Once up and running fully, this place will be a great place to hang out. As for the food: I ordered the Shrimp Taco Dinner (9.99). The tacos were made to order. The taco dinner has 3 tacos, rice and beans. The shrimp tacos was dressed with lettuce, guacamole and a special sauce. The taste: good. The tacos with the rice and beans were very appetizing. The shrimp tasted very good paired with the guacamole and sauce. The tacos were a nice size and very filling. Overall: my experience at this new establishment was a good one. I am excited to see this restaurant thrive in a town full of taco restaurants. This test does stand apart by offering the seafood aspect. The reason I stopped in was because I saw my favorite word: seafood! I was thoroughly impressed with my tacos and will be coming back to try other items on the menu. The prices on the menu was slightly higher then the other taco places in the area but that can be do due to the seafood aspect. I was satisfied enough to go back.

Won't go here again!! Came in stand there waited to be seat host walk back and fourth like I wasn't there I walked out horrible customer service

A very nice Mexican seafood restaurant in the neighborhood. Our waitress Yolanda was very nice and attentive. We ordered a coconut cream seafood, which included a whole fresh coconut and it's coconut meat, and a red snapper, which was bigger then the plate, we couldn't finish it. Both were surprisingly good and delicious. Not too salty as other Mexican restaurants. Prices are reasonable. It's like a family casual restaurant. A lot of drinks to choose from. One small thing that I appreciated was they use an unopened Tostadas chip, and asked us to bring the rest to home. In fact the food came up at a reasonable time, not like other reviews saying a long wait for the food. Sure will come back again.

Best Mexican seafood restaurant there is! The food is full of taste within seconds after taking the crab legs into my mouth my taste buds go wild. That charco seasoning is unlike anything I have had before. Plus they have live music and a dj as well. I miss dining here. Everyone is so nice specially Chris. I make sure to go when he is in the kitchen because he has the best flavor and my food always comes out warm. Camarones a La Diabla is one of my favorite dish too

We just had our first take-out meal from Mariscos El Charco, and what a pleasant surprise! Today was Taco Tuesday, but while supper was a bargain price, there was no discount on quality or quantity. Each taco had at least twice the ingredients we get in our (old) regular place, overflowing! And they were delicious. I had chicken an beef tacos and my friend also had fish and shrimp. My friend said the staff of the restaurant couldn't have been nicer, As he firmly declared that we now have a new favorite Mexican restaurant. We looked over the menu and found many dishes we can't wait to try!

Wish I could have eaten there. People with no masks including staff. The place was packed. How could a staff not where a mask? Just begging to be shut down.

The cebiche was good can, only improvement I would recommend is not leaving it to dry. That is why I am giving 4 stars. Service was great, the waiter was helpful and attentive made it a great and speedy service. I would recommend

Extremely disappointing. They never get an order right, we gave them three chances and they still never get anything correct. Their menu prices change without any notice. They take out items and ingredients from their dishes, but they charge you for it anyway. Never eating their again

Everything i've had here is delicious!!! Definitely recommend it. Today my husband and I came for Taco Tuesday and once again we weren't disappointed. We had the fish, shrimp, and carne asada tacos. All three were good.

To the owner f this place I have to tell you about the service. We went to eat about 3 months ago food is good but service is horrible 45 mins to get drinks and over an hour for dinner. So I said never again but today we decided to try it again we seat and order drinks waited 30 mins and walk out won't go back

Pros: - The taco Tuesday tacos were good and a solid size. -The guac was pretty good, and really large. Cons: - They opened about 15-20 minutes late. -I didn't get my tacos until about 35 minutes after they were supposed to open, so this might not be a good spot for lunch unless you pre-order or something. -They forgot the sour cream

This is a sit-down Seafood restaurant, with sit down prices. The food that comes out of the kitchen looks spectacular. The wait staff seems very well trained and professional. This is not your $2 taco place. We ordered Fish Taco shrimp tacos and steak tacos for takeout. Probably the most delicious tacos ever. Definitely not the cheapest. We were satisfied with the value I suspect taco Tuesdays as a real winner!

I placed an order and it was not done when the delivery driver arrived. The food was made incorrectly, I ordered a 3 taco dinner with lettuce, tomato and paid for upcharge of cheese and sour cream! The food was more than 30 mins late and arrived made with cilantro and onion. (allergic to cilantro) I called the restaurant about the issue and the woman who answered spoke to me and then put me on hold only to then hang up on me. When trying to call back she kept sending the call to voicemail! Beyond rude and horrible business. Finally they answered the phone again 20 mins later and I demanded a refund at this point after their behaviour. The woman tells me to call back after 2pm when the manager gets in because she's too busy to deal with my customer service issue! Like seriously! Buyer beware! I suggest any other Mexican place in area will be better than here. If delivery and phone service is this horrible, I can just imagine how bad in restaurant service and treatment is!

I've been here a couple of times and yes I agree when they first opened the service was a bit slow. I just went in today and had there tacos de papa dorados and my daughter had camarones a la Diabla "shrimp with spicy hot sauce". She loved them for being a spicy shrimp eater and my tacos were to die for. I also had the vampiro drink with tequila, spicy, cold and delicious. My youngest daughter had the steak burrito it had black beans and pico de gallo a bit different but very good it came with fries on the side. Waiter was very nice so I will be returning.

Best Mariscos spot in Illinois! Have tried many other spots but nothing close to Mariscos El Charco.. the Caldo de Camaron is delicious! And the Tostadas de Camaron the best! This was my first time here and I did not leave disappointed. You best believe I will be coming Back!!

The music was very loud, the waiter had a hard time taking our order because he couldn't hear us. It took about 30 minutes for us to get our drinks and about an hour for our food. We couldn't even have a conversation while waiting for our food because the music was extremely loud. The food was good but the service and the ambience was bad. I didn't like the fact that they added the 18% tip to my bill for a party of 4 people.

Terrible! Waited over two hours for my delivery that never showed up. Ordered it through Grubhub and even they couldn't reach the restaurant. I don't understand how you can run a business like that? Hope the owners know how poorly they are running this restaurant. At least I got a refund on my order from grub hub.

Visited Fat Rosies last night for the first time. Was very disappointed. Food was served cold and our order was incorrect. Our waitress seemed overwhelmed and the manager was absolutely helpless and didn't seem to care. Needless to say we won't be back and won't recommend this place to others

I just went to eat here to try the Cora shrimp and taco Tuesday. First of all our server was horrible. I didnt get her name but has a Colombian accent. She didnt give us the chips and salad to start with just because we order tacos from taco Tuesday. I said to her, we were also going to order regular price food... still we didnt get any chips. Told us we had to pay cash in order to get the $1 taco deal. Gave us horrible service and to top it off when she gave us our check, she had already applied gratuity to our check which was a table of 4.

If I could give zero stars, I would. On behalf of my group of 15, we had the worst experience the night of 6/20. The server, Yolanda J, was very rude and unfriendly. To start, a couple of people arrived later and we had asked for another batch of our appetizers and Yolanda inconsiderately said, "Sorry. I cannot bring more because I already brought them out." We did NOT ask, we told her we wanted more, even if it meant we had to pay for them. If she can't bring out more appetizers, she should've remembered to bring out the drinks. We had waited a ridiculous amount of minutes for our DRINKS to get to the table. I had asked for extra lime for my entre. When my plate arrived there was not a single slice of lime. I know the perspective of being a waiter, but the amount of time it took to get things was not acceptable; especially considering it was not busy. Then, while bringing out the other plates she had spilled guacamole ON TOP of one of my friends head and all she had to offer was a useless unsympathetic sorry and blamed the incident on the tostada clashing on the head (OBVIOUSLY). She didn't even offer to bring more napkins. For a place that charges the 18% gratitude, I am extremely disappointed in the service. If you're going to take money out of my bill, at least EARN IT. It is a shame that we had to involuntarily leave a tip for the worse service I've ever experienced. I will not be returning and I will not recommend this place to anyone.

Poor service...was seated for 10 minute and nobody came by to even say "someone would be with you soon". There were plenty of waiters/waitresses but noone bother. We got up and left. Don't think I will be returning to that place.

I have knoshed from Mubai to Egypt and beyond. I am a resident of St. Charles and wanted to find something Latin and new, so I entered, and cautiously... Great hospitality from the Staff and my server Jake knew the menu with much depth and detail, so I settled on the Chicken Enchiladas. Absolutely scrumptious! The Mole salsa was muy balanceado and I will definitely return for this entre and will try others. How great have authentic comidas right here in St. Charles and with reasonable prices too!
