Really good spot for quick Mexican food . As others have said the Aguachile is not agua chile . Just a cóctel with a sprinkle or red pepper . Also the shrimp is not cooked in lime like I’d hoped

I ordered the campechana. The flavor was great but it had very very little octopus, shrimp and other ingredients. Definitely won't be coming back

Aguachile is not aguachile, it's more like a cocktail plus some ground chilli on top. Ceviche Tostadas are ok, very friendly Staff

We were looking for something fast and easy and in the way to Oakland airport. This place was about 5 minutes from Oakland airport. Basically you order you food and has outside seating but with overhead roofing. Very comfortable and you can feel the fresh air. Free parking lot which is a big plus. The food was amazing! It tasted very authentic Mexican Food. Big servings for a small price!

Great taco joint in Oakland. It has a walk up window to order with seating all over. They have both nest and seafood options and I love the Ceviche de Cameron and Al Pastor tacos. Service is pretty quick and parking can be tough at peak times.

I have never experienced ceviche or aguachile quite like this place. Perhaps it is a regional thing but the cheviche was dry without any lime juice sauce and the aguachile was more like a coctel de camaron (tomato based sauce). Not at all what I was expecting

I come here mostly for the seafood ceviches, they taste great and are reasonably priced. The tacos are also very good and so are the burritos, seafood or other meats, especially the carnitas. It's a casual place. It probably was a fast food joint from the past, it's like a drive-in. You sit outdoors. It's usually busy during lunch. Other times you should have no problem getting a table. There are lots of parking in the parking lot.

Asada and pollo tacos were on the smaller side, but the shrimp and octopus tostada was good! Would just come here for their seafood, and skip the tacos.

We always get the Campenchana and is always a winner ! Been going here for years and only thing that changed is the prices and after the pandemic, prices kept going up and up but the food stays the same ! Clean, fresh and the facility is clean.

The seafood cocktails are not the cheapest, but as far as flavor and quality, it is solid! This is good for hangovers. A little bird also told me you can bring your own beer! Cool to know! They also have tacos ! It is CASH ONLY !!!! I will return on my next hangover!

My friend and I drove out to East Oakland for lunch. I was in the mood for shrimp cocktail, and lo and behold, fhe shrimp cocktail at this location was delicious. However, it was Mexican style shrimp cocktail, which is full of fresh ingredients like tomato, cilantro lemon and chiles and very different from American style shrimp cocktail which only has ketchup, lemon and horseradish. The portions were good the service quick, it comes with yummy homemade tortilla chips. My only complaint is that it would be nice not to have disposabletableware and bowls. So I will probably go there again, but I'll bring my own picnic ware and take what they give me and put it into picnic style deeper dish. It wouldn't go on the flat plate.

Burrito lengua, meat was good, other things decent. Rice beans could use more taste or flavor smell. Gave 1 red salsa to go, could use another.

***3.5 stars Fun, lively outdoor seating resto. Reminds me of a drive in of yester year. Just finished at dentist and was starving afterwards. Decided to give this place a try. Got the agua chile con camarones to go. Pretty tasty, but the sauce seems like they put ketchup in it, which for agua chile is weird to me. Fresh tasting and lots of little shrimps. I don't think they marinate the shrimp in citrus juice beforehand, as the shrimps were raw raw when I first got the cocktail. I squeezed lots more lime juice and tapatio into the cocktail and let it sit a couple of hours before eating. Prices are what you would expect for any kind of seafood. Cash only!

Absolutely Devine Fun outdoor atmosphere with a pretty wall painting Felt like eating with the food truck setting with very authentic Mexican fare and seating area is clean and you can enjoy the interesting international blvd scene The tostada was very fresh and crispy with the shrimp ceviches toppings no excellent fresh tomato's and onions add extra crunch The spicy pork was very flavorful definitely need to return

Amazing. Just amazing. I was recommended to try this place if I liked seafood and their ceviche did not disappoint. You order at the window (cash only) and they call your number over the speakers, both in Spanish and English. I ordered 2 shrimp ceviche ($10 for the pair) and a can of coke for $1.75. The ceviche is huge!!!! You really get a lot for your money. And best of all, it tastes absolutely amazing. Spicy, citrus-filled, and fresh! Pros: -they have their own free parking lot -they have outdoor dining which is perfect during covid -staff is friendly -ceviche is on point -reasonably priced -they have music playing outside Cons: -it is cash only Overall, excellent spot!

This doesn't apply to most foods. But when it comes to burritos, once I find places I like, rarely will I be adventurous and try a taqueria I've never been to. Because why take a chance of being disappointed? Why waste 1000 calories eating something mediocre? That being said, this Shelter-in-place has closed down over half of the taquerias on International Blvd in Oakland. My go-to taquerias were all closed, so driving down International I landed in front of Mariscos La Costa. I thought to myself, ok, "Mariscos". So they must specialize in seafood. From the pics it looks like they carry ceviche and different items from regular Taquerias. But I had my heart set on a Al Pastor Burrito and a Steak quesadilla. Al Pastor Burrito: the burrito is a decent size at the fair price of $8. The taste was ok but they go really heavy on the onions. You know how Nations is famous for the pile of raw onions they put in their burgers? Well I actually like that refreshing crunch of onions in my burger. But in my burrito, I thought it was overbearing. Made it taste like I ordered an onion burrito. Steak Quesadilla: my wife ate this item. She said it was ok. Nothing special or memorable for her. Based on just visually for me, it looked disappointing from other Taqueria's quesadillas I've seen. In a pinch, I say go to Mariscos La Costa. It's not the best but it passable and the prices are lower than most if not all other Taquerias. That makes it a place worth trying at least once, and possibly a second time when a Worldwide Pandemic threatens to wipe out earth's entire population.

The food is delicious and well priced. Staff is always kind and respectful. I enjoy it a lot and recommend it to everyone

How disgusting ! I've never been to a place so nasty at everything we ordered . Tacos Shrimp octopus even the rice and beans were disgusting. How do you mess up rice and beans, anyways when I asked if I could please switch out my plate which I didn't even eat nothing they said no and that's how the plate is supposed to taste . I can't believe they have semi good ratings . Must be there whole family posting fake ratings

Top Taqueria Alert! I'm always on the prowl for the Top Taquerias in the bay. This one makes the top five easy. In a word Mariscos La Costa is flavorful. In two words: fricken amazing. I ordered a chicken burrito, a chicken quesadilla, and two chicken tacos (can you tell I like chicken). I wasn't expecting much flavor from the quesadilla but it was delicious. It had ripe tomatoes, and savory cheesy chicken. I couldn't get enough of it. The burrito was spicy and mouthwateringly good as well. The staff are quick here. We ordered four full menu items total. They had it out in 3-4 minutes! It's a walk-up order window with outdoor seating. This place had an extensive menu and everything we ordered was exquisite.

First time here but always drive by. Lots of parking but cash only. Best Torta I've had in Oakland.

I use to love coming here for years .. But today we had an unpleasant visit ! My family and I came for lunch here and we spent more then $150 and we had bought several plates overall food wasn't as bad in flavor but we did not like the service ! The ladies taking the orders at the register were very impatient and messed up our order twice! They now charge $1 for 3 saltine crackers and only gave us 1 and 2 tostadas with our xtra large coctel de camaron. When we went to ask for some extra salsa as we had bought several tacos and tortas one of the cashiers only gave us 1 so I asked for another and she had a horrible attitude and gave me another one. We won't be coming back at all and to future people expect horrible customer service!!

I have food allergies like a dork. But I had always wanted to try Octopus. I have researched, I should not have even been eating Octopus also, because of my allergies, but I had a friend raving about how much she loved octopus and I had to try it for myself. Found this place easily on Google, easy to find, small parking lot. SUPER fast service. Upon arriving at this place, the smell of Shellfish is STRONG, I sat on the side and just inhaling after I ordered had my throat feeling tight. My daughter had my Benadryl, I did pop one while waiting for our food. Tasted the Octopus, tastes like rubber bands. But the presentation was legit here, it was like a Ceviche. Veggies were fresh, the tostada they pack for you was nice also. Just was not a fan. But this place is legit otherwise, very courteous having the "Shellfish Allergy" signs all over, very nice.

This is a great Mexican ceviche place in the neighborhood. My Mexican friend brought me here, so you know it's legit! Most of the people eating there were Mexican. I'd recommend: FISH & OCTOPUS Tostada: Loved the texture that the octopus slices brings. Refreshing and not too heavy SHRIMP AGUACHILE: Raw shrimp in a tomato-based salsa. Loved eating it with creamy avocado and crunchy tostada OYSTERS: These things are MONSTERS! Super big oysters. I also enjoyed the varieties of Mexican hot sauce that were on the table TOSTADA DE LENGUA: My boyfriend had this because he's not too into seafood. It was a solid, well-balanced torta. PROS: - Friendly service, especialmente si puedes hablar espanol - Outdoor seating, which is perfect on a sunny day - They have standard taqueria offerings if you're not too into seafood - PRIVATE PARKING LOT, which is a rarity in Fruitvale! That alone makes it much more likely that I'll return

Decent food including the tacos. Shrimp / octopus / oyster cocktail a bit expensive at $17 (two oysters, tiny bits of octopus, plenty of fat shrimp). Pleasant counter service.

Food is on point from the tacos and burritos to the seafood section you can't go wrong here.The staff is nice and friendly and they keep the place looking nice and clean.The service was quick for the amount of people coming in to grab a bite. Helpful hint cash only and no alcohol is sold there but they suggested i go to the liquor store on the corner which was great as I got what I wanted.

The food is authentic, fresh, and delicious. I got a pastor quesadilla, but am really looking forward to coming back and trying one of the seafood tostadas. My mom had one, and it was amazing! Super quick service! Remember to bring cash, as they don't take credit cards. There is also a small parking lot, which is great in such a crowded area. As a note, they do call out your order number in Spanish. Not a problem, if you don't know Spanish- just look it up!

Still great - still affordable. The menu is very straightforward - you can get several different preparations of their seafood items. You just can't go wrong with the tostadas....and specifically the ceviche and pulpo. It's $6.75 and big enough for lunch or dinner if you're not terribly hungry. The pulpo is never chewy or rubbery - always tender and flavorful. I really need to come here once a week because when I don't I just continue to dream about it.....

Charged me $1 extra for no reason, I asked for extra tostadas, apparently everyone getting their extra tostadas for free. Why am I getting charged. Make sure you're charged the correct amount before you leave the counter. I got shorted change but not charged on receipt.

Ceviche is king at Mariscos, while I found the Mexican fare to be average. However, let's get a few things out in the open: 1) It is cheap as hell. Eat like said king for about $10 and be full for days. 2) If you want an authentic experience, you will find it here, and I'm not talking about that all inclusive resort to Cancun. This is reminiscent of the small beach towns I visited while spending a month backpacking through Mexico. The carne asada burrito was stringy and tasteless with no homemade tortillas found here. An ultimate fail. The al pastor tacos were solid, again I prefer those tortillas homemade. It's the little things. The star of the show: the ceviche tostadas were delicious and plentiful. The shrimp did have those grey veins, but it was about $4, I get it. At the end of the day, it was fresh and that's all that matters. Outside seating only and cash only at this super casual cevicheria. Order at the counter, find a seat, grab your food and enjoy. Definitely a solid spot that is a taste of the real Mexico. When jonesing for some ceviche at a very low cost, no need to look further.

We had a craving for some ceviche on Saturday Morning and we were in Oakland so we headed to Mariscos La Costa. It's located on International Blvd. and has a parking lot. The eating area is outside tables with 5 different kind of hot sauces on it. The menu is pretty simple and the food is ready fast. The line is usually 4 or 5 deep. Paper plates, plastic forks and trays. Fish ceviche tostadas Lots of ceviche on top Shrimp and octopus tostadas ceviche on top a thick crispy fried tortilla Asada tacos Al Pastor tacos Carnitas tacos Shrimp and Octopus Ceviche $11 Fish Ceviche $11 They clean and bus the tables quickly. We also ordered some ceviche to go that comes with tortas. The tacos are good too.

Mariscos La Costa is my new "goto" Taco spot.I rate taco spots based on the quality of their Al Pastor and their's is outstanding.Not too sweet as some can be with the addition of too much pineapple but just spicy enough and very tender meat.The Asada is also crazy good ! I have not tried the tostada's yet but they look great .... topped with Shrimp,Crab and some looked like they might have had octopus ! You can also get any meat you'd like on them. They also have Oysters on the half shell ! Don't be turned off by these Taco joints on East 14th( I'll never call it International) because you will be missing out on great and very authentic mexican food.I go here with my wife and the place is totally safe&clean and you can feed a family of four well for under $20 !

I'm trying to eat less meat. So I stopped by here to try their vaunted ceviche tostada. La Costa did not disappoint! Tender, deliciously marinated shrimp and octopus with zesty accoutrements were headed atop the crispy corn shell. Out of habit I got a carne asada taco too; it was also really good. Can't wait to come back to try their other tostadas and aguachiles too!

Came here hearing all these great things about the ceviche. So ordered the shrimp ceviche and you know what, the shrimp was grey! It wasn't even cooked. So couldn't even try it unless I wanted to sit on the toilet all day long having uncooked shrimp come out both ends of me. The parking lot is tiny and crammed and there isn't much seating area. The food did come out quick, I guess too quick cause they didn't even cook it. Also ordered Carne asada burrito and two tacos. At least those were cooked. The burrito had very little meat inside. Mainly cilantro and rice. I guess that's what you pay for, for 3.75. Tacos were a dollar each. Nothing special. Never order the shrimp unless you wanna die! There's better places for Mexican. Heck it's fruitvale. It's Mexico. Gotta step up the food

Everyone's got to just mix ketchup and hot sauce together and that's the seafood sauce? BLEH.

Still my to go spot for Asada Burrito and Seafood Coctel though prices regularly have increased over the years. $7.50 burrito $10 coctel. Red salsa is still great.

Cerviche lover? This is the place to go If you didn't know about it, now you know Their Cerviche is the best in oaktown It's a cerviche gem, that is now found their pastor ain't bad don't get their carnitas/asad cuz you'll be sad Great little place in oakland, their cerviche pescado is the best, they cook it in the lime juice, add a little tapatio and boom baby! Their pastor is not bad either, but don't get their asada or carnitas, not very flavorful.

I love ceviche and their ceviche de camerones hit the spot! The tostada was PILED with ceviche, the portions are super generous. My husband's carne asada burrito was also very good, the flavors just perfect. But I came for ceviche and I was not disappointed. Can't wait to go back and try some of the other tostadas.

Welcome to hot sauce heaven! Mariscos La Costa's got all the spicy flavors one mouth can handle, and then some. The tostada de pescado took me right back to my roots. It ain't no gourmet fillet, but the flavors pack a punch. The outside seating takes you out of Oakland and right down to Baja California. I felt like I was in Mexico sippin' Aqua de Jamaica under the palm trees. I'm telling you, this place is a hidden haven for ceviche lovers. So if you're tired of all the bougie, hipster-lovin', gentrifying, geeky eateries, then do your part and support a REAL local business. Oh yeah, and remember: CASH ONLY $$

This place is pure magic. I come here for their fish ceviche and their oysters, but all their seafood dishes are amazing. It is a glorified food-truck with authentic, fresh, inexpensive Mexican seafood. Bring cash, cash only! I'm a huge fan!

It has all makings of a mariscos shop that I should love. Dead smack in the middle of the Fruitvale area (hard core Mex-ville); al fresco dining, although the view is of sketchy International Blvd; heavy traffic of the local folk (90% from south of the border). But the execution is for straight cattle call feeding, as opposed to human aesthetics. Everything is ordered at the window and picked up later either for take-out or be eaten on the covered outdoor seating area. All food is in disposable format ie. paper plates, Styrofoam cups etc... All food is somewhat slopped together to fulfill the usually ever present lines. The quality of the seafood is not bad but far from special also. Seafood, especially shell fish, just somewhat deserves a little more attention and care. Just check out Mariscos Estilio Sinaloa across town and you'll see a difference. Albeit a tad more expensive, it is worth it. The Fish Ceviche, although completely marinaded in lime, tasted like tilapia or some other fresh water fish. These fishes tend to taste muddier (where they are from) and tends to show through in these cold preparations. Snapper or other white-ish salt water fish is what I tend to prefer. Also the shrimps in coktels or tostadas aren't always cleaned through. To me, it is just a detail that is simply overlooked over here, and quite possibly accepted. The marinades/sauces for the coktels or the agua chiles are not bad, but the chopped seafood and veggies are just sloppily thrown together. To peeps who could care less on how their food looks, this place is fine. I just prefer the other side. Also there are bold street pigeons in the dining area (since it is outdoors). They are so conditioned to humans that they will literally hop on your lap for a lick of scrap. Sorry pigeon, no ceviche for you!

If you want the best and dont want to settle for less , come on by to LA COSTA the best evvvveeerrr, ceviche is bomb.com, fresh and delicious, why take a field trip to la taqueria when u can come here and get a five star experience. Best prices and best quality. Come talk to my boy cesar he will take care of you , order and in less than 5 min your order will be ready, lots of parking and outdoor sceneries, dvd and balloon peddlers . Mexican stores and elote man within walking distance , youll experience the BEST OF THE BEST in the middle of little mexico. Shrimp ceviche tostadas are the best when complimented by a nice torta or a couple tacos, dont forget the refreshments fresh aguas and sodas , squirt is my choice of that hang over but try it out and find out for yourself, on sundays come early beat the church crowd. Just for the record ive been coming to la costa for about maybe 8 years and cesar the cashier/ worker is great , there is another guy there too that basically knows me and my friends order, by heart. Those guys are cool and should get a raise . Or they should have a tip jar but its the town and some fool will probably just snatch it. But any how la costa is delicious, go there every weekend

This place is always the spot for a quick tostada de ceviche and an aguachile. The prices are decent. Service is well organized and timely. This place would get 5 stars but since my last review 5years ago they still only take cash and its 2020 i think they should have options. The parking lot is tight but big enough for their traffic on a regular day.

This place fell off. Used to be one of the best burritos in the Bay. Came today, and it's rice-a-roni with small amounts of meat. Flavor fell off too, and the burrito shrunk. Used to make it chunky and loaded with meat. Only thing that went up is the price. They want $8 for this rice wrap. Another Coronavirus casualty..

Best seafood cocktail in Oakland! Highly recommend all the fresh seafood, aguachile de camaron, coctel camaron y pulpo, are amazing and the tacos and burritos of asada are also good!

Out in east Oakland and heard good things about this place and decided to give t a try. The ceviche tostada was on point. Perfectly balanced with just enough shrimp, squid and lime. Refreshing on a hot day and for the price, you can't get any better! Also ordered the carne asada tacos which were filled with beef! What I really like about this spot is that it has covered outdoor seating and during lunch it's a fun place to people watch. You'll see everyone from students, blue collar workers and guys in suits. Friendly chill vibe where people come together for the food.

I'm actually disappointed in their ceviche. The fish was like tuna. All mushed up. Favor was bland. The shrimp was some spicy kick to it that I was chugging water. Overall, not the ceviche place for me. Free parking on site. All outdoor seating.

If you're looking for mariscos this place is the bizness! Fresh seafood con buen sabor! My mouth is salivating thinking about the tostadas I recently ate. I recommend trying both the shrimp and octopus (pulpo). Get generous with the hot sauce, sprinkle on some lime and think about the last beach vacation you took. It doesn't get better than this. Just make sure you got a pocket full of cash as they don't take cards. Word of caution, stay away from the burritos. I can't speak for the tacos but the carne asada burrito was horrible. No flavor whatsoever. Sad really, this could've been a 5 star spot! Pro-tip: Hit the corner store and BYOB! It's good. No one's looking :P Nothing like washing down mariscos with an ice cold cerveza!

Superb! I loved my authentic street lengua taco and my tostada ceviche! Everything was affordable and tasty. The place was really clean and the service was nice and quick. If I'm ever in town again, this is a place I will definitely come back to.
