I was skeptical about this place ,because of the exterior look. (It looked like it was the hotel.not the restaurant) But I’m glad we gave it a chance. This place is a true meaning of not judging a book by its cover… Food was fresh and delicious. We ordered a the shirt in devil sauce, ceviche tostadas, shrimp cocktail and fajita nachos. And the fresh made to order lemonades were mind blowing.we had the mango lemonade, strawberry lemonade and a cucumber and pineapple. Definitely worth it…

I came here as a last resort but it ended up being better than I expected. I'm not a huge fan of seafood but everyone else said it was very tasty and all plates had a very good serving of food. They don't sell alcohol but you're allowed to bring your own in to the restaurant which could save yourself a few bucks. Although it's not the best looking place the most humble looking places offer the best quality. Also, it's a bit on the small side so be prepared for that. Good overall 👍🏼

Google
Really quite excellent!!!! Not the fastest service but that was by design as everything was home made and amazing. I wish we came here all four days but alas it wasn’t meant to be. The shrimp is fresh you can still taste the salt water, the house made chips fresh and delicious, house made sauces, everything was the bomb. Seriously best food of the trip. The lemonade is amazing too you won’t be sorry coming here.

Food was amazing!! My friends Beto and Keri had the fried shrimp plate and the tortilla soup. I had the fish tacos… Everything was freshly prepared… We also shared a bowl of seafood soup. Service was excellent!

1 table 5 ppl, 2nd table (us) 2 ppl. Pro: Fresh hand made corn tortillas for sure (luv'd them), there special FRESH made juices is very refreshing, white rice good. Salsa/chip very good Con: The two young kids who service the tables (to much flirting not attending customers), TO MUCH SEASONING in the fish/shrimp bowl (it was WAY too much)!!, parking is limited and inside the Ramada hotel. In all im sure its a good place, just happened to be 1 of them bad times of getn the over season fish/shrimp bowl and the two young kids flirting and not paying attention to customers needs (Chip/salsa that took for ever to get). Would I come visit again, more likely a nope!

In a small coastal kitchen, within the lobby of the Ramada Inn, this dish is prepared fresh with simplicity y corazon. The fish and shrimp, light, fluffy, and meaty, pair perfectly with fluffy cilantro rice, a crisp, fresh salad, and home style fries. It's a beautiful blend of honest, traditional, hearty flavors. Delivered with fresh made corn tortillas. EVERYTHING is fresh made. The lemonade is a gargantuan melody of freshness, steeped in the creamy texture of mottled cucumber, lemons and strawberries. A perfect lunch or dinner. Pro tip: order the guacamole and enjoy the sunset over the Laguna Madre. Video review coming soon! Great food! Only complaint was the calamari plate. It hardly had any calamari for the price and too many fries. Everything else was fantastic, especially the lemonade!

Google
Best food of our trip! If we had found it sooner, we would have eaten here every meal, and spent our whole snack budget on lemonades. Tamales were amazing - must have! The garlic butter shrimp and the chipotle cream shrimp had huge shrimp that were cooked perfectly and had amazing flavor. We loved the seasoning on the fresh chips Seriously wish we could have eaten here all week!

Yelp
momma and grandma's cooking awesome food and friendly atmosphere, will definitely go again!

Yelp
The food was delicious foodies. I ordered the Florentine shrimp with spinach. The cream sauce was to die for. Strands of fresh spinach in this delectable sauce served with rice that was perfectly cooked. The flavor was very good too. My friend had the Chipotle shrimp. Yes, dish is served with 'tails on'. Never fear. You're gonna need extra napkins. I'd order mine again. This restaurant is located at the Ramada Inn so it's not fancy and it's brightly lit but the food! Terrific.

Yelp
Many many issues. I'll give a numbered list. 1. I ordered Governor Shrimp Tacos. The tacos, covered in mole, came with the shrimp tails on. Because of this, I had to take each individual mole-covered shrimp out of the taco, remove the tail, then put them back. I couldn't even properly put the garnishes on the tacos. There was also a small, soft pincer in one of the tacos!!! 2. We had to wait for around an hour to receive our food. It only came after we asked how long it would still be. Our food then came in a staggered fashion; the time between the arrival of the first dish and last dish was around 20 minutes. 3. The ambiance was strange. Very sentimental, corny country was being played the whole time from YouTubeTv. The owner didn't have youtube premium so ads played all the time & eventually the music just stopped. This may be my most unfair criticism, but I stand by it. Also, the restaurant is in the continental breakfast bar of a hotel!!!? 4. When a member of my party used the restroom, a STAFF MEMBER of the hotel walked out. Cool. But the toilet seat was largely covered in urine upon her entering the bathroom. He also didn't flush? Staff not caring for their own establishment? 5. Instead of giving us water glasses they gave us bottled water? Which we were then charged for. $1.25 for a bottle? 6. The suizas enchiladas were not amazing. The chicken was tough and chewy. There was so much mozzarella on top that I took several bites of just cheese. 7. The tip was included for us (because we had a party of 6) but the waiter also added an additional charge on top of this and didn't tell us what it was? The receipt they showed us didn't match the amount we paid. I ordered a $12 dish and paid $18. 8. They got one of our orders wrong. The chef told us that since the food was already made it would be an additional cost to make the correct order. 9. We waited around 20 minutes for the check. We had to ask twice... To end on a good note: the sweet tea was really good! Overall I would never go back here. Do no trust the skewed reviews online

Yelp
We arrived at appx. 20:50 CST, but experienced several delays. Appx 20" to order drinks. Another 20" to get the drinks, and then order 3 entrees - no complicating appetizers, salads or soups. First entree (enchiladas) didn't arrive until 21:48 - 58" from arrival! Second entree (ceviche tostada) didn't arrive until 21:59 1'09" from arrival! My entree (Chipotle Fish) arrived at 22:00 but it was Chipotle Shrimp! Finally the correct plate at 22:10 or so. Neither son nor his GF were pleased with their dishes. Bland. Enchiladas were dry and ceviche had no line taste at all - nor of any other seasoning. Curiously, my entree proved to be the absolute best fish plate at a Mexico or Mexico adjacent themed restaurant I've ever had in 40 years of eating out. The mujer who owned the place said she had made the Chipotle sauce minutes before the order - the sauce recipe needs to be classified and trademarked it was so spot on! She further added the fish was sea bass. Spur of the moment I didn't push back, but in hindsight it's strains credulity that a spring break high demand Ramada Inn serving estaminet would spend so much on sea bass without even listing it as such on the menu. In any event, it was fanatastic. Overall, if one can stomach the huge delays and order the correct items once can reasonably expect a good meal!

Yelp
We had the ceviche tostadas and fried fish platter. Both were great. Lemonade is pricy but fresh made in front of us and worth it.

Yelp
The owner was such a pleasure to speak to and she let us try a local special for our first time coming in. The street corn was amazing, the agua Fresca was legit, and then the food kept coming out and knocking our socks off.

Annalese M.

Yelp
This restaurant was quite a interesting experience from start to finish. To begin, the restaurant is located inside of a hotel, and doubles as a continental breakfast. I have personally never seen that before, and it made the overall ambiance a little different than expected and was a definitely a new experience. The TV that was playing music videos featured inappropriately dressed women repeatedly. The service seemed awkward and made purchasing the food more difficult than expected. Food was rather good, but for our larger party we waited around 1+ hours while being just around the only group inside the smaller establishment. Also, a heads up for the larger family's, they happened to only have two high chairs and one booster so just a little warning to heed.

Yelp
The food was amazing! They had home made corn tortillas. The food was fresh and authentic. It took a little while for our food to come out, but was worth the wait. The service was good. Everyone was extremely nice.

Bryson M.

Yelp
Don't be fooled, the food looks good but tastes awful. The sauce is watery, the shrimp still has the tails connected. The ambience is entirely lacking. No music, awkward sever. I wouldn't wish this restaurant experience on anyone and it was definitely a let down.

Yelp
This is a small family owned cafe inside the Ramada that also does the hotel's free breakfast service. We had a late breakfast of chilaquiles that was outstanding. The owners are guilty of trying too hard, and were very quick to ask about the food, almost hovering. It was an honest effort to make sure everything was just right. We hope they succeed, we certainly enjoyed it!

Mitch D.

Yelp
Don't let the fact that this restaurant is inside the Ramada fool you. Everything is fresh. Everything is prepared to order. They food was amazing. The fresh corn tortillas are so good. I had the beef fajita platter. The beef was really really good, the rice and beans that accompanied it amazing as well. My boyfriend had the beef fajita tacos and chicken tostadas with avocado. Every bit of food was great. The owner stopped by and chatted while we were finishing up. We're glad that we stopped in and would definitely go back.

Stacy T.

Yelp
Very good and fresh food. Very accommodating to our requests and questions. Very small restaurant in the Ramada hotel. Don't let the 1st impression scare you away. We all loved everything we ate. The suiza enchiladas were awesome!

Bobbie C.

Yelp
The food & service is the best on the island in my opinion. Mariana is such a sweetheart & so authentic! She makes you feel right at home. Everything is made from scratch so it's SO fresh!

Anna J.

Yelp
The food is amazing! We only had the barbacoa tacos and beans and rice. Their beans and rice are the best we've ever had in a restaurant any where. The barbacoa was a little greasy for my taste but I'm the minority preferring the grease fried off so I expect it to be greasy. The flavor was perfect! My only complaint it I like a lot of onions and cilantro on my tacos. My son devoured his though and already wants to go back for dinner tonight! I'm not sure who it was but she offered agua frescas when we walked in. They don't normally serve horchata but that's our favorite. She made some fresh for us! Again some of the best we've had. Not too sweet. Just right. We really liked this restaurant and can't wait to come back!

Javier T.

Yelp
HORRIBLE, unorganized and disorderly ‼ Family were already committed and had to wait for the food under such uncomfortable service, to the point that the restaurant closed their doors 20 minutes later. And let's not forget the final nail, by serving one plate at a time !?!?

Jackie J.

Yelp
Honestly...my enchiladas were cold, the rice was decent and the charro beans were scalding hot. The tea tasted powdered also. My husband got a quesadilla and they were very stingy with the avocado but loaded up on the onions. Maybe it was just slow that day....

Brittany H.

Yelp
If you don't come and try this place while in South Padre, you are MISSING OUT!! The friendliest staff I've ever had, drinks are AMAZING and everything is fresh and homemade :) Thank you, Mariana!

Caitlyn N.

Yelp
Luis was amazing! One of the sweetest people I've ever met in the hotel/restaurant industry. The boss should be so lucky to have a guy like him on the team. I will definitely be back in my limited time on my trip.
