It is a very nice little shop with exquisite food. I was there ONLY one time and I bought a small bag of frozen French mini blinis. The price for that small bag was 20$. This is very high price and I will not return. The person working at the cashier charged two times and she told me your total is 40$. I told her I will not buy it and then she said, sorry in fact the total is 20$. I think in this shop we need to be very careful with the vendor because they charge whatever price they want to charge.

Unless you have an afternoon to burn, I would avoid. The place is really confusing, tons of employees but looks like only 2 people working at any given time. When I ordered my food, the cashier started having a conversation with a co-worker and almost walked away before finishing my transaction. After I ordered, I waited 15 minutes for a ham and brie sandwich and there was only one person ahead of me when I arrived. When I asked about the sandwich they said it was the first they were hearing about it. When I asked for a refund because I didn't want to wait any longer they couldn't figure out how to refund my card.

This place is beautiful and everything I was hoping for....except.... I’ve been going here almost daily or every other day since they opened and literally every time I go the pricing is different for the items I regularly get. It feels like a Moroccan marketplace where the price is made up on the spot. The final straw for me was charging almost $10 for a cup of yogurt with a topping.. the same thing I paid $6.50 every other time I come here. Even though I love the concept of the store, I don’t like to feel like I’m being taken advantage of every time I go here

store is beautiful. not a restaurant but a gourmet food store, but they have public outdoor seating on the sidewalk. extremely overpriced, even for the area. i inquired about a cup of tea, and ask if a box of tea on display has caffeine. The server/ cashier has zero knowledge about if it has caffeine and i have to check it myself by review the small print on the box. i proceed to ask for the tea after checking, and the server than told me it is sold as a box of dried tea leaves only. i picked another tea that could be served in a cup with hot water over tea bag- $6 for a paper cup, with hot water, and a tea bag, sold at the cashier counter, no table service, and without a smile.

So I saw This store a few days ago and I decided to try it out today...I got the pork gyro platter and it was good BUT the portion was little for the price That I paid...Its a very cute little store I was very happy to see that they had a lot of Greek Treats...

Super friendly. Good food/pastries. I think they're fairly new and their staff is just trying to get a feeling for how to operate. Give it a shot.

Found a WORM (honestly could have been a maggot) in my blueberries. Noted as "Fresh Fruit" on the menu.

I ordered through Ritual for the $1 lunch and got the organic chicken avocado. I wouldn't pay the full price for this because it was just ok. The chicken is really dry & the bread is hard to chew. I deconstructed the sandwich so I could eat it without making a mess. I only really liked the avocado. If you get the Ritual app, you can also get the chicken gyro for $1! I did like how I could order ahead for pick up and skip any lines around lunchtime.

Paying 11$ for a chicken gyro, I'm expecting the food to at least be fresh and have some kind of flavor. Even though I saw the bad reviews, I still gave them a try. I'm not very picky with food but the chicken was so dry and had a bland taste, kinda like how chicken tastes before it's fully cooked. It had a raw smell to it.There was barely any sauce inside and the only other condiment was a tomato. The picture is pretty self explanatory, if I went to any halal cart nearby, I would have gotten a fresh sandwich. Also, I asked the cashier if they have any sauce or spicy sauce and she just said "nope!" If you have customers paying 11$ for a gyro, you should at least have sauce or maybe something else to offer. Overall, not worth returning. There's too many halal carts and food options in midtown than to waste money here.

I wish I had seen all these awful reviews before ordering. But fortunately, I only had to spend $1.09 through the Ritual $1 lunch deal for this week so I'm not too upset. If I had to spend the $10 it normally costs, then I would have been more outraged. But this was one of the worst chicken gyros I've ever had. The initial chicken pieces were beyond dry that I had to spit it out, but the rest of the chicken had a rubbery texture that didn't taste very edible. It says it comes with tomatoes and onions, but I didn't detect any onions at all. It was a good portion size except I felt disgusting and sick for the rest of the day after eating it. It was a quick pick up, but I would say you can pass this place if you're looking for a quick Greek cuisine lunch.

Markato is an amazing Greek delicatessen operated by it's neighbor Milos. The spanakopita, agginaropita (artichoke+feta pie) are absolutely genuine and delicious. The lamb salad, sandwiches, and entrees are all of the highest quality. In addition, there is an amazing yogurt bar, with choice of house made Greek yogurt or the creamy imported Cypriot version--one has a choice of spoon fruit toppings available. My favorites are the bergamot and wild fig. There is also a variety of imported Greek products for sale, the honey is sensational, the raked sea salt first-rate, and the selection of spoon fruits as good as it gets.

I have to admit, Markato was astonishing. Good value for the money. Every single thing I've tried so far is good. The staff was very friendly and service is extremely good. Love that place so much.

Markato is a beautiful space, but the food is simply not good. AND SO OVERPRICED even for midtown. $10 "salads" aka greens with shaved cheese. $15 for a filet of standard tasting salmon $14 for the pork "gyro" platter. Gyro meaning pita triangles with a serving of meat that definitely had been sitting out for a long time and quickly tossed on the stove top to reheat. Very dry. Very salty. Very....crispy? Plus a tablespoon of tzatziki To make it a platter there's a small amount of Greek salad that was mushy and bland. The serving sizes are small. The prices are astronomical. I used to love Milo's on 57th St before they changed the concept and menu options. Expensive but doable - and good. Markato wants to be a high-end Greek cafe - it certainly looks the part, but the quality is very low.

The food here is great, but good luck if you come at lunch. There is 1 poor guy making the food and 5 cashiers arranging jars of olive oil. Easy fix - less cashiers, hire a few cooks. If Chipotle can do it so can you!

Nice, modern, inviting Greek cafe. I've tried a couple of items from here. The gyro is very good, when I had it it was available as chicken or pork belly. Definitely a notch above from what you would get from a street cart. You can tell the ingredients here are fresh. Also have had the chicken salad sandwich, which comes on a buttery brioche. Very good. Good spot to grab yogurt as well. If there's a downside, it's that their coffee are all espresso based, there's no drip coffee ready to go.

I love the food. The gyros are the best. Lunch get a little busy but that food is worth the wait. The sandwiches are great too and the Greek salad not to say. I really recommenced this place. Try out the Cyprus yogurt for a little dessert or snack. With sour cherry or mix preserve berry

I placed the order and had to wait forever. Why do you have one person working a busy station during peak hours and two people one that's slow ? I think the manager needs to learn to schedule employees where they are needed the most. I lost my lunch break.

If you look for a nice lunch Markato is the place. Their gyro are the best. Not to mention the Greek yogurt the have with topic are great. I really recommend this place. The food is great and the cashier are very nice great costumer service

Went here via MealPal. I ordered a gyro, and when I got there, they were out of it. Okay I understand, no big deal. I figured they'd give me some other food. Well, they offered any sandwich I want--but only a half of one. I looked at the menu and the value of the half sandwich was only $5.40! Plus, the half sandwiches were tiiiiny, definitely not a full lunch. My MealPal charged me $6.50 per lunch so this offering would actually be a losing deal for me. I mentioned this, and the manager Offered to give me a dollar. Wow, thanks lady. The whole point of MealPal is you get normal lunches (Valued usually around $11-$14) for cheap. You do it to save money. I explained this to her. She eventually caved and gave me a whole sandwich but the amount of cajoling was pretty insane. If you don't have the gyro, just give me something of same value!
