This Market Basket branch is a great place to shop for groceries! Prices are noticeably lower compared to other grocery stores in the area, making it an excellent option for budget-conscious shoppers. The store is clean, well-organized, and the staff is friendly and helpful. They also carry halal chicken regularly and sometimes have halal meat, which is a big plus for those looking for halal options. Overall, a reliable and affordable grocery store that serves the community well!

Visiting Boston from Toronto. A must-go in our two-day trip is the $9.99/LB lobsters at Market Basket. I’d like to appreciate a nice and friendly lady at Lobste/Deli department for her help and patience. I wish I could move to Boston so that I could have the lobsters literally everyday! Thank you, lobster lady(sorry I forgot to ask your name) for making our trip unforgettable and I will learn to de shell lobster myself next time! 👍

If you are making a delivery in a 53 it’s pretty much imperative to pull in unless you do a turn around because of the light poll and then you would only be able to go to the first or 2nd door you have to turnaround which you barely make it just hope not any cars are parked because then you would be stocked yet the people working here our nice and did help

This was one of the first Market Baskets I was exposed to when I moved to Mass. It's still a very solid store. A bit difficult to get to if you're not already on Somerville however the quality and customer service is as great as all the rest of the Market Baskets. Highly recommend and would go back again if in the area.

Aside from the fact that its a zoo in here... five stars. There is *so* much produce and perishable flowing through on a daily basis, you're practically GUARANTEED to get fresh everything. I'd avoid 6pm shopping, unless you want to bathe in an ocean of humanity.

The isles are cramped, the parking lot is busy and the customers and plentiful, but Market Basket delivers every time and the Somerville Ave location is no different. The shelves are stocked high and the prices are low. There is a large and varied selection of everyday and speciality goods at this location, including staple ingredients for Thai, Chinese, Mexican and other varied cuisines. The produce is always solid and they stock such a wide variety of products that for speciality ingredients, I typically check Market Basket first. There is no self checkout and the friendly cashiers and baggers will assist in paying for your groceries. I recommend coming early in the morning or later at night for a less busy shopping experience. Favorite grocery store. Thanks!

Safe to say, one of the MOST AFFORDABLE grocery stores in the city! There are offers available on regular consumer goods every now and then. I just wish they had an app with better UX apart from that everything at the store is incredible.

My friend had this experience, and I think ppl need to know: I was visiting Boston and went to the Somerville Market Basket to buy lobster, since it came highly recommended. At checkout, the cashier never asked if I wanted a receipt and didn’t give me one. I immediately asked politely for my receipt, and to my shock, she pointed at the trash bin and told me “look here, that one.” It was clear she had crumpled and thrown it away instead of reprinting one. I found this extremely disrespectful and humiliating. Another customer nearby also looked shocked. I reported it to staff and later called the manager, who said they would get back to me—but no one has followed up. This was one of the rudest experiences I’ve had with a cashier, and I hope Market Basket addresses it seriously.
