Which Minneapolis and St. Paul Patios Are Open Right Now, Summer 2020 | Eater Twin Cities

"I found their patio is currently open with tables sometimes placed on existing patios, in parking lots, or on sidewalks; guests are asked to wear masks and all staff will be masked, with precautions in place—check with the restaurant for individual days and hours. Studies suggest lower exposure risk when dining outdoors, but that benefit depends on restaurants following strict social distancing and other safety guidelines." - Joy Summers

I had a negative experience when I went to buy a family meal. We went near closing and the staff was already cleaning up the restaurant. I noticed that one of the pots which contained rice was opened and the staff were splashing water and soap all over. I see one of the staff members grab a spoon and pour rice into the pan to sell to me. That already raised a red flag. I didn’t want to eat soapy rice. I also saw another staff grab French fries that were also contaminated with soap and water. We left that restaurant. It’s such a shame that they expected to sell soapy food to us and other customers. I believe that the establishment should have been cleaned after serving all the food they had no while they were scrubbing and splashing soap and water all over the place. Never going back there ever again! Also don’t order if it’s close to the time they close the restaurant. Good luck!

I Have been telling everyone to get food from this place, but today i was the unlucky one, my food was terrible, price is never de same....ribs full of fat...chicken was like i was chewing bones...Market BBQ was always the best, what is happening now!!!! quality is going down!!!!

Google
First time trying their food recommended by a coworker and I must admit they lived up to the hype I ordered the beef rib and bbq chicken combo and I was not disappointed they gave so much food I will be coming back

Google
Great place to grab some delicious Portuguese street style BBQ. Short walk across the bridge when seeing a game at RedBull Arena. Big portions of carbs (rice, fries) will fill you up and even have leftovers. We enjoyed our meal here and will come back again.

Google
This is a classic bbq spot. The portions are amazing and very tasty. I recommend the steak and eggs with rice and beans. Its gonna fill you up for sure. This is the best cheat meal you can get and your dollar really goes a long way.

Yelp
I had BBQ short ribs and rice. It was a huge plate of food but the meat was not seasoned well, nor was it barbecued.... or even grilled. I'd say pan fried. I was presented with a tiny container of BBQ sauce.... so I guess that's where the BBQ part comes in. The yellow rice was... yellow. Other than a wee bit too much salt- there was little else in there. All in all the food was edible and I left with a full belly. The price was right and the people nice enough. The owner seemed to know everyone that walked in the door. ....a simple neighborhood restaurant.

Yelp
This restaurant still amazing giving us so fresh and so delicious in anything on the menu. I'm recommended for you all people try to eat anything from appetizer to the end dessert and wonderful coffee. Very large PORTIONS. The price is soo just right. The best part is Beautiful sitting on Tables and chairs[ after the coronavirus] Every night the workers clean so spotless so clean. The city government gave them capital [A] I'm very very fuzzy and observant eater.

Yelp
Staff is very friendly , they make a effort to communicate despite language difference. I highly recommend their whole chicken with fries . they have an amazing house made hot sauce and barbecue Sauce. Only critiqué i can give is that its a bit difficult to find parking because of the location but the quality of the food does make up for it .

Yelp
Decent BBQ place that gets my money because they are one of the few BBQ places in Newark that will DELIVER. There is a $2 delivery fee, but that's absolutely fine with me. Half a rack of ribs and half a chicken with rice and fries for $15? Yes, please! The fries are unsalted and soggy (they deliver it in a metal tray with a metal lib, what do you expect?) but are good if you take the time to heat them up again in the oven/in a pan and sprinkle some salt on yourself. The chicken is pretty flavorful and has the nice flavor of smokiness without actually being charred. The ribs are alright -- they'll do if you have a craving -- but they're probably not as moist as they could be. Pickled veggies included. You can also opt for salad instead of the rice or fries (but why would you?). They do take credit cards, including Amex.

Yelp
If you're looking for a cheap place to eat before a Red Bulls game this place should definitely be on your list. It's in the middle of Penn Station and the stadium, so it's the perfect place to go if you take the train. For less than $10 I got an order of chicken and rice which was enough to feed a whole family!

Yelp
Huge portion sizes. A 1-person portion easily feeds two. The quality is very good too. This is my favorite "simple to-go" BBQ place in Newark. For under $15 you can grab a sizable container of chicken picadinho w/ two sides. This usually covers lunch and dinner for me Use their hot sauce sparingly as it is no joke

Yelp
They are in a new location across the street. Plenty of tables now. Food is amazing. On top of their regular menu they have daily specials. I love their combos because you get so much food, even with a group you might have leftovers. They are also accommodating, I wanted something since I don't eat rice and potatoes so they make me sautéed veggies.

Yelp
Listen, there are many legendary Brazilian barbecue places in Newark. Newark is home to places like Pulaski's and such. My personal opinion is Market Barbecue is the best. Even if it is by a little bit, I will still go here first. If you are in the mood for some barbecue at a great price with over-the-top portions, please give this off-Ferry Street place a try. We tried the combination platter which was great. had great portions of pork, shrimp, chorizo, vegetables, rice, and home fries to die for. Just try this place, ok?

Yelp
I love me some chicken rice, and this review has been at least 10 years late. I can't even remember how I found out about this place, that's how long ago it's been. The food has been consistent from day 1. And If I'd be stuck in some island for the rest of my life and I can pick only one thing to eat everyday, then no doubt the chicken, rice and salad from this place will be it. I just LOVE this place so much and I make a trip here almost every weekend from Jersey City. If you're not familiar with the area, you might feel unsafe. But trust me, you'll be fine. It's in the safe part of Newark (though it may not seem like it) as it is within the Iroundbound district area. Though I recommend to drive with another person only because the parking situation is tricky. If you can have your friend waited for you outside while you pick up the food, then it's ideal. But I've been there myself as well and you can leave your illegally park next to the restaurant, that works too. My go to dish 99% of the time would be the whole chicken and salad. And I always make sure to ask for the hot sauce which I discovered only recently and it's as spicy as it gets. For $13 it's a bang for you buck. In addition to whole chicken and salad, it also comes with so much rice and fries. Though I always skip the latter two. I've also tried their other dishes, and my distant favorite would be the grilled salmon. They give me so much food, I wonder how they even make profit. We can never finish everything in one seating, there's always some leftover for the next day and sometimes even the next day, that's how much good stuff they give you. The best part is the chicken gets only better the next day! Everyone is so friendly here. The owners are always there when I go. They're so hardworking and friendly. Hope this place will be around forever and ever. I won't know where else to go!

Yelp
There is a battle of the rotisserie chicken places in this area and, while we haven't tried all of these joints yet, Market BBQ seems to be better than the 3 we have tried so far (Ferry St BBQ, McWhorters, Elm St BBQ). Their chicken is never dry and has a nice smoky, lightly charred flavor to it. Their rice is seasoned well and their black beans are always on point. Their fries are always soggy and sometimes bland but I can easily overlook that as everything else is consistently good. Their salad is simple, greens, onions and tomatoes w/olive oil & vinegar, but it is always fresh and is a good way to cut through the chicken grease you will be covered in. We pick up there regularly and the ladies there are always nice. So glad to have this place near me.

Yelp
My family and I have been going to this bbq for years. We love it for it's WHITE rice. I think this is the only bbq place in Newark that serves it's food with white rice. & not it's typical yellow rice where you can get everywhere else.

Yelp
Very poor service lady was talkin in riddles and was very rude we didnt even stay to eat because we felt so uncomfortable she started talking about death and we all die we were lost so we just got up and left the food looked good but the service didnt give us a chance to eat it.

David R.

Yelp
Food is beyond delicious and very inexpensive for the quality and portion size. Only issues I have is that SOME of the staff does not speak English very well and they have frequently messed up my order in the past. They always fix it but be careful if you order take out and check your order before you leave. They know me now and always send me an English speaking server now. But if you get the impression that your server doesnt understand you, you are probably correct. So just politelyas k if you can get a server who understands you. Believe me though, the food and price are worth the hassle. Also, as some have said the parking can be a bit of a pain. But well worth the walk if you cant find nearby parking. Plus a little walk will be in order after eating their massive portions of incredible food! :) I can say this is my favorite restaurant in the whole tri-state area! You wont be disappointed!

Yelp
This is my chicken place in Newark. the chicken here is nearly as good as the churrasqueiras back in portugal. Like a previous comment, I can overlook the fries which are still good when you pop them in the oven for a few minutes, it's more of a result that they package the chicken, rice and fries together. Still, for less than $20.00 you get an entire great tasting bird, rice, fresh salad and fries. Perfect meal
