Went for the breakfast buffet and was quite happy. Service was great and the view was amazing. Nice when a buffet includes juice, found most don't a charge extra. Food was decent decent but what they lack in food they make up for in service and scenery. Price was high for the limited buffet menu but this place you're really paying for thr view. Didn't realize the Angles spring training was on the opposite side of the hotel during the time I am visiting this area so had to pay for parking but valet was the same price so treated myself. Overall experience was good and will return.

Nice place! Stopped for a quick drink and appetizers...good spot for that!

Beautiful panoramic view! The food was delicious! Hiba was an excellent waitress. Oh... and she's easy-on-the-eyes!

Came in last week for some coffee while I stayed. Karsten was the host and she was great. So inviting and hospitable.

Google
I love this place. Our server was so amazing. Everyone was very nice and attentive. Food was really good and it was reasonably priced. The views!! The views are so beautiful and the restaurant itself is a joy to see. 100% recommend

Google
Nice views from the restaurant and the food and service was great too.

Google
Breakfast was acceptable, house coffee needs improvement, specialty coffee was flavorful and bold.

Yelp
I like to eat here at least once during my stay. I really like the breakfast. You can either choose to get the buffet or you can order something off of the main menu. The food is pretty good, although it is institutional. On this particular occasion, I ordered off of the menu and my food was served to me cold but I don't care too much about that. Our server did not come around very often. Overall, a nice place to grab something to eat.

Yelp
Came here at 12:45pm on Sunday. Hours on yelp and google say open till 2pm. Closed, what a waste of time and disrespectful. Please update your hours.

Yelp
I wish I could give this a negative star it was so awful! Aside from the beautiful views I wouldn't even wish my worst enemy to eat here. This restaurant is at the Marriott Hotel in Phoenix Arizona and the valet thought it was closed and seemed confused when we arrived. Upon arriving to the hostess he even declined our reservation at first which was another red flag. Once I displayed my online reservation from OpenTable he then seemed to agree and stated he needed to check if they had a table. Five minute later he walks us into an empty dining room and we did not understand the reason for the wait. As it was a Saturday afternoon during Super Bowl Weekend, it was a shock to see the entire dining room empty with limited staff. We ordered champagne and after our water arrived our waitress advised us they were out of champagne in the entire hotel which seemed suspicious. After we ordered our meals, champagne magically became available but our mimosas had no bubbles so I don't know if we were served old or reused champagne. As we wait for our calamari appetizers the waitress didn't realize they were appetizers and stated she would bring out with our food. Now is where it gets worse. Calamari tasted of rubber and old oil Turkey club sandwich had no mayo or sauce of any kind The chicken quesadilla was made with old chicken and really hard The wings were overcooked The tortilla soup was clumpy and salty The fries arrived right before the check after the burger/sandwiches were consumed We were a group of 6 and she seemed confused when we asked for separate checks and had to confirm every item we ordered prior to bringing us our check. This restaurant if you can call it that definitely is not to Marriott standards and now I know this is the food/service provided I do not even recommended staying at this hotel.

Yelp
Josie was our server yesterday morning, she was Phenomenal!!!!! She radiates PURE JOY!!!! We went to breakfast this morning and asked for Josie again because she makes your entire day better just being in her presence. The food was delicious, the service was excellent the waterfall is gorgeous to sit next too! Thank you Josie for your beautiful soul, it's contagious and so admirable.

Yelp
Enjoyable hotel buffet with great view of the Phoenix/Tempe area. Selection of food was rather limited but satisfyingly good as a breakfast option. Would certainly be a much better experience if they address the craziness at their "infamous" omelet line and add a waffle machine or soup. But again, the overall experience was very "comfortable" and pleasing that I would highly recommend to all resort guests as the service from their staff is "top-notch," what you'd expect from the Marriott brand.

Yelp
The Market Cafe is a nice little quick breakfast stop. You can get continental for a hot buffet breakfast or a small up charge. Is that a charge you can get? I need to order omelette. Food is decent enough but the atmosphere is amazing. Everywhere I give up. Yes something new to see the setting is perfect way to start your day. The service was great, the only reason why I get to 4 is because it's a buffet. Beautiful place!

Yelp
Our Director took the team here for breakfast. Excellent service! Buffet was very nice. We had a great time! Nice views and cool waterfall. Fun place!

Yelp
Overpriced, mediocre food with poor service. We received a breakfast voucher for each morning of our stay as our welcome bonus for Platinum Elite status. The first day the waitress told us the voucher was good for the buffet and that she could get some eggs and pancakes started for us. We declined because we do not eat eggs. The second day, we helped ourselves to the buffet and were told upon returning to our seat that the small scoop of potatoes we got was an extra $6. Apparently the voucher is only good for one half of the buffet, the "continental side." Anything hot is extra. Definitely not informed of this the day before. The food is very mediocre and they normally charge $26 for both halves of the buffet. We talked to the restaurant GM to provide constructive feedback about the lack of consistency in the wait staff instruction and he gave us a smug grin and said " well the voucher says continental." The one bright side is we didn't pay the $6 for our scoop of potatoes but still such an off putting experience. Who give a voucher for only part of a buffet and then charges you a la carte for taking items from the wrong side?! So here's a tip for those with elite Marriott status- skip the breakfast and take the points. Better yet, don't stay here because it's a run down, dingy hotel.

Yelp
Great breakfast with nice scenery. We ate breakfast here after our first night stay at the Marriott. The service was excellent and our waitress, Chivelly (not sure if I spelled it right) was excellent. They had really good options for the kids and the coffee was very good. We thoroughly enjoyed our order and it was nice to sit near a man made waterfall. Our kids had the chocolate chip pancakes with OJ. My husband and I shared pancakes, eggs, sausage and hash browns. I will say that the potatoes were not hash browns even though that's what it said on the menu. Regardless, everything was delicious! Glad we decided to try it out.

Yelp
Very good experience, stopped for a quick bite checking out of the resort and before our flight home. The staff was friendly, everything was prepared fresh and quick since they knew we were pressed for time. Everyone enjoyed the food, my mani tacos were missing the tangy lemon flavor, ahi poke was ok but I really loved the lamb kofta. Will certainly recommend!!

Yelp
I used my Marriott status to redeem a voucher for free buffet breakfast. I preface this because this review is of the buffet and not the dining service. The buffet included the staples of a continental breakfast including oatmeal, fruit, bread, and bagels. It was slightly elevated over the breakfast selection that you would find at a lower tier hotel with the inclusion of bacon and potatoes. The food selection provided options for both gluten free, vegetarian, and vegan preferences. Be sure to pick up an apple or banana to take with you during the day. If nothing else, grab a small bite and sit to enjoy the open air feel near the indoor waterfall or the city and mountain views. The overall experience is nothing to write home about or intentionally seek out but it will meet your expectations.

Yelp
Stayed at the hotel for a week and went down for breakfast 3/5 days because the food and service were worth going back for. The buffet had a various things to chose from, we had omelets with flavorful potatoes, oatmeal with many tasty toppings. The restaurant menu also had great dishes to chose from, we tried the eggs Benedict and the Carne with eggs both were very flavorful. We were lucky enough to have Tzitzua as our waitress every-time and she made sure we were well taken care of, she explained our options and her suggestions were never a disappointment. She is good at was she does and it was obvious that she enjoys doing it. Thank you contributing to making our stay a memorable one

Yelp
Was at the Buttes this weekend for a staycation & was served by Josie She was the absolute best!

caroline K.

Yelp
The view is beautiful! The service is great! However the food is so so. The French toast was pretty good, but the side items like the bacon and potatoes all tasted like they were frozen and heated up really quick. (Not the servers fault). We definitely expected a little more given the prices of the items. Other than that it was clean, the view was great, and so was the service!

Yelp
The Market Cafe offers great food and presentation, with friendly staff. For lunch, I had a cob grilled shrimp salad, that was delicious, however the shrimp was a bit on the salty side. Tentative and prompt service, fresh food selection, and a fun place to eat at the resort.

Yelp
Had a great brunch at the Market Cafe. Jared took great care of us with fantastic service. 5 star service. The Carne Asada street tacos were great. My hubby had the breakfast buffet. The atmosphere really made it special. Views of the city and mountains while overlooking turquoise pools and lush vegetation made it seem like we took an exotic trip. All 45 mins from home.

Yelp
Entering the Market Cafe at the Buttes, we were met with scenic views of the city of Phoenix from the panoramic windows bordering the restaurant. But the beauty did not end there -- inside the restaurant was an exposed mountain waterfall. The ambiance was perfect for our post-wedding brunch plans. Although the menu was limited, it did boast a number of vegetarian and pescatarian options that was perfect for our group. My friend and I enjoyed the Mahi Mahi Tacos with House Fries. LET'S TAKE A MOMENT TO TALK ABOUT THE HOUSE FRIES. They were waffles fries & perfectly seasoned. They might have been the highlight of our meal. The tacos did leave something to be desired, and for the steep price, I would not order them again. That being said, our friends ordered the burger and the quinoa salad with salmon -- they loved their meals and had plenty of leftovers to enjoy later. The coffee here was pretty standard, but the frequent refills were a nice touch. The real charm of Market Cafe is in the location and service. Would I return? Absolutely. But probably save it for a special occassion.

Yelp
We had breakfast here a couple of times while staying at the Marriot Resort in Tempe. (It's on the resort grounds). Hard to mess up breakfast but let me tell you about the delicious french toast I had. It was dipped in crushed Cornflakes so the outside was crunchy while the inside was sift - so tasty!

Jane B.

Yelp
Nothing but the best service provided by all servers, it was absolutely phenomenal ! Highly recommend.

Yelp
We always eat here for breakfast, but this time we had lunch and I had the grilled Mahi tacos they were delish! My bf had the turkey blt which was a little dry. But the service and view is always great and relaxing.

Yelp
BACKGROUND I've been looking online for the last hour trying to find a menu for Market Café at the Buttes. All I can find on the Marriott Buttes website is information regarding their flagship restaurant, Top of the Rock. So, that's annoying and perhaps should be fixed. Anyway, the review... MARKET CAFÉ The Market Café has an impressive environment inside with the massive indoor waterfall and the view from the dining room is spectacular. Although they serve breakfast and lunch, the real deal is the all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet. Unfortunately, the breakfast buffet lacks the splendor the environment/ view has. The buffet is good, but not great. The buffet has all of the usual breakfast items: eggs, French toast, cereals, muffins, bagels, fruits, sausage, bacon and the price is very reasonable. They also serve mimosas, which always makes me very happy. SERVICE EXPERIENCE The staff was extremely helpful. In fact, our table had 4-5 servers making sure we had everything we needed. CONCLUSION Overall, I 4/5 highly recommend the Market Café.

Yelp
I hold this little gem near and dear to my heart. My husband and I first dined here on our anniversary, when we were both students and could afford little more than a glass of lemonade. But just being in the elegant Buttes Marriot Hotel, surrounded by Beautiful People, and waited on by the attentive staff made us feel, well, *rich*. The Market Cafe serves sandwiches, chicken, and a variety of California-style menu items. And while the menu may not be terribly inspired, the setting surely is. Call ahead and ask for a table by the 30-foot-tall indoor waterfall and fish pond. The last time we dined at the Cafe, we splurged and had the dinner buffet --- wonderful!

Yelp
Great Breakfast Buffet! Kudos to Chef Kevin! The only reason there are not 5 stars are because the service was a bit too slow. At lunch we were in a hurry trying to check out and catch a plane and I had to track down the server, but, other than that, great food and lovely setting! Do not miss the breakfast buffet!
google avatar

Yelp
Excellent breakfast buffet. Wait staff was very attentive. Waiter was waiting with the omelette chef with chiriso sausage for a made to order omelet. Lunch, wait staff is the star again. Made us all feel special. The sandwiches were nothing special but fine ingredients and presentation. The hotel itself is a diamond in the rough, Marriott has done it right. We'll be back!
google avatar

Krista S.

Yelp
We ate breakfast here both mornings we stayed here. We love breakfast and the buffet is very good. You can have omelets fresh made to order. Lots and lots of breakfast options. The biscuits and gravy were very very good. The coffee was a bit bitter. But over all good food and beautiful scenery to look at with my hubby over breakfast.
google avatar

Yelp
Came here for Easter Brunch and all six of us loved it! Our waitress was excellent and I wish I knew her name! Presentation of all food was outstanding especially the pastries and desserts! The shrimp was like butter! I don't eat meat but there was plenty to choose from. We will be back! Great value!

Yelp
Very beautiful view from the dinning patio with waterfall and different kinds of wild flowers. Open from 6am-11am for breakfast. They have buffet and off the menu breakfast. The orange blueberry pancake is a must. They also brew Starbucks coffee!
google avatar

Yelp
Do NOT get the Butte Fried Pork Sandwich. I've always loved the view and the food was quite good, but today, this sandwich was awful. This experience will keep me away for a while. The fried pork 'patty' looked like something from McDonald's. It simply does not below at this restaurant. The view and staff are still great, but WOW, what a terrible sandwich this was. Plus it was $17. Grrr...

Susan M.

Yelp
Horrible experience. Paid $70 for 3 breakfasts with half raw over easy eggs and bacon tasted spoiled. Awful experience.

Yelp
Seafood breakfast ... rare in Arizona but the market café had the perfect omelet to satisfy the seafood craving. The crabby phoenix - omelet with jalpeno cream cheese, crab and pico de gallo was delicious !!! big chunks of crab in each bite and the pico de gallo gave this dish a great refreashing note to it. We decied to sit outside, the view is overlooking the hotel and pool area. very beautifula and relaxing. its a perfect way to start the day.
google avatar

Kathleen S.

Yelp
Great breakfast buffet here. Wide range of breakfast foods; Southwest scramble was very tasty (eggs w/ chorizo). Food was good and reasonably priced for buffet style ($20 per person). The best part of this place was the gorgeous view! Definitely sit on the patio to have an awesome view of the Marriott pool and surrounding scenery. Pretty waterfall inside the cafe as well.

Yelp
My mother was in town from out of state and we'd wanted to take her to dine next to their waterfall feature. We didn't know that area was only open for breakfast and lunch. Once Jose heard my mother was visiting from out of state, he immediately accommodated us. He asked that a table be readied for us in the 'closed' area and had a waitress get our drink and food orders started. Our waitress Kristen, along with her assistant (I've forgotten his name. He had beautiful black, curly hair) were so friendly and efficient. We had my 2 year old grandson with us and Kristen made sure to bring him a kids menu with crayons. All 3 of them checked on us regularly, made us feel welcome and kept our drinks filled. Jose came down and offered my grandson a popsicle for dessert (not knowing popsicles are his FAVORITE right now). Jose even brought down a few so he could pick his own flavor. The food was delicious! The BLT my daughter-in-law ordered was HUGE and was visually pleasing as well. I had the rainbow trout...YUMMM! My friend had the NY strip steak and it was not only cooked exactly as he likes it, it was perfectly seasoned and able to be cut with a butter knife. You can NOT go wrong with a visit here; from the impeccable staff to the delectable food and beautiful views indoors and out. I will be bringing future guests to dine here for sure! Thank you Jose, Kristen and everyone else who helped make our experience so enjoyable this past Labor Day!

Yelp
very simple breakfast. we went in for valentine's breakfast, there were 6 of us. We were quickly seated and our server was super great. The food was in a little hallway section, they had an omelet bar made to order. Everything else was buffet: scrambled eggs, bacon (no sausage), French toast, chilaquiles, oatmeal and some fixings, yogurt and some fixings (no granola) fruit, cereal/milk and bread. This was a gift to us, but if I were paying I would have chosen a different place. Everything was decent as it should be for these basic breakfast items. The location is nice. Inside the dining room they had a little waterfall or some type of water feature, our kids didn't really go look, but there were other kids near it. Towards the end of our meal, the servers or manager or whoever was in charge, starting moving tables around. They had a very large group to seat so they started Dragging tables and chairs near us which made everything very noisy and ruined our conversation since we couldn't hear each other. They should've picked up the tables/chairs instead of dragging them and pushing them from one side of the room to the other. Very bad.
google avatar

Joe R.

Yelp
The food is always good here but it will be a TWO HOUR meal by the time we get out of here. Unacceptable! I think they have to go to another Marriott somewhere to get our f-ing food. Ugh!!

Paul W.

Yelp
$19 and change is way too much for a breakfast buffet. Especially when the scrambled eggs were runny, the french toast was as hard as a rock, bacon and sausage were under cooked and the gravy for the biscuits was flavorless. The service left a lot to be desired as well. The waitress was a robot. Since we were part of a large group we were hit with an 18% gratuity charge even though we paid on separate checks. For that huge fee we got our drink orders taken care of and our checks. The waitress was absent for most of the time we were there. The only friendliness from the staff was when we were leaving. Never again! It's not worth it at all. We were there on 3/29/15..

Yelp
Ate the breakfast buffet 2 mornings. Food and service was very good. Would definitely go back.

Yelp
So the appetizers were good, we started with the Burrata Caprese and Mediterranean hummus which was really good, but then our dinner came. My husband got the Ribeye and it was dry as a bone. I got the burger which was also super dry. We waited for 20 minutes just to get asked for a drink order. My husband wasn't given a fork and knife to eat his dry steak either. I will say they staff was great, they comped most of our meals and alcohol because of how long it took.

Yelp
Had Easter brunch for the third year in a row here. It's the only holiday we eat out. We've thought about trying something new but this place is worth coming back to again and again. The staff are so so great. The are personable and so accommodating. My omelet was delish as well as the prime rib!! But the guys serving it even better.
google avatar

Sean M.

Yelp
Nice place. I ate breakfast here this week. The meals are good and the buffet is very nice with more than the normal options like Eggs Benedict, Egg Blintz and more. A little on the expensive side, but good service.

Kate M.

Yelp
We are not really into buffets and would rather order off a menu which is available at breakfast. When we visited recently the buffet was served until 12-12:30 PM. The menu to order breakfast was only available until 10:30 AM. This was even on weekends really disappointed at the lack of a brunch option at this resort. No review on food as we left the hotel to meet some friends at a brunch restaurant. Friends who live in the area mentioned this is why locals don't frequent this place for breakfast, but other local places serving breakfast until 2 PM have a long wait for a table on Saturday and Sunday. Missed opportunity for this establishment.
google avatar

Ryan J.

Yelp
Absolutely wonderful. I went for the breakfast buffet and the food was really good. Best coffee I have ever had. Amazing views and the service was awesome. I loved it and will be going back. Do yourself this favor, you won't regret it. Yes it a little pricey but it is worth the money.
google avatar

Yelp
Unbelievable atmosphere! Water falls, views, ponds, and scenery all around you as you enjoy there food! I highly recommend the breakfast buffet! We love it and love taking guest here from out of town.

Yelp
We needed some time away, we stayed at the marriott and went to the Market Cafe for dinner. It was the first night of their fall menu. for an Appetizer we had the Mahi Mahi fish taco & it was the best one we've ever had!! they were savory, slightly sweet, with cool fresh slaw then for a contrast the fish was crisp & very hot! (we ordered them again the next day pool side, but with the server having so far to walk, they weren't nearly as good) We also had their fajitas (good but not amazing) and their new Chicken dish with goat cheese & zucchini, and it was really really good too. If you need a get a way, or just a dinner out with an amazing view head on over. Ask for Jessica, she was a great server. We were there on Fri Sept 17th. 2011

Alan J.

Yelp
Breakfast buffet is $20 and NOT worth it!!! Are you kidding me? Nothing is very hot, few choices and eggs were wet and runny. I stayed at the hotel and didn't even look at the menu since a buffet is quick, easy and since I am doing low carb, I could choose my own. My mistake! No way this food is worth that.

Barbara S.

Yelp
Worst service I've had in years. Our waitress disappeared for 30 minutes while our food got cold waiting for her to serve it. Then she had the nerve to add the 18% tip because we were a party of 7. Even though we were staying at the hotel and it is convenient, we will definitely not be going back.

Chloe G.

Yelp
Oh my gosh the black bean sweet potato burger is amazing. Great food guys. Also, great ambiance! We loved the tacos too.
