Miami’s Best New Dishes Of 2024 - Miami - The Infatuation

"Over Under needed a dish that could tear people from the clutches of its outstanding cheeseburger. This po’boy is up for the task. The bread has some squish but doesn’t get soggy, the housemade jalapeno ranch has a polite heat, and the shredded lettuce, pickles, and tomatoes are all crisp. It’s great before you even notice the golden, flaky catfish." - virginia otazo, mariana trabanino, ryan pfeffer

Let me just say from the first time that I went here a couple of years ago when I visited Chi-Town it was the best thing on this last visit it was just okay. I don't know what was missing but it didn't taste as good as it did the first time. It wasn't bad but it was just okay. I sure if I'll try it again the next time I come. I'll see nothing special about the looks of this place. Aesthetically The service was just okay. The guy at the front counter was very dry. Last time I was there the man was very lively and fun and friendly and helped some lady go to the door and take some stuff to her car and just was really communicating with the people

2024: This was always one of those places I was curious about so I decided to stop by. The place is your standard bulletproof glass hood restaurant setup with a small fish market awkwardly put together. They also have a soda vending machine when they already have a drink fridge which is odd. The vending machine has a different selection than what they sell themselves. I ordered a chicken and catfish combo along with a gizzards dinner with came out to be a little over $20. The food was ready in about 10 minutes. Of course as I walk out, some phony scammer walks up asking for food with child in tow to play on your heartstrings so watch out. I watched as they got into a brand new vehicle after begging. Now back to the food. The gizzards are overbreaded and rubbery. Very tough to chew on which hurts your jaw. I wasn't even halfway through them before I tapped out from my jaw being tired & teeth hurting. They are overseasoned to the point where it burns your tongue. The dinner doesn't come with a drink, but it does come with fries and a single slice of bread. Overall, I doubt I'll be back. The poor reviews and low amount of foot traffic are no surprise here. If you're gonna offer stereotypical food then you have to get it right otherwise it feels like a slap in the face. Update 2025: It's rare that I'm confused about a place. This place seems to always have at least two people waiting outside in their cars, but I guess the clientele wouldn't know good food if it slapped them in the face. Walking in the place reaks of rotten fish which is a major red flag, especially on a freaking Tuesday (fresh fish for the week should've been delivered Sunday or Monday like with most restaurants.) They didn't have bass so I got some jack salmon. The salmon reaked of rotten fish as well. The taste was off too and my stomach turned within 10 minutes after eating. Definitely serving spoiled fish to people which is what other reviewers have complained about. No bread either. The breading on the fish is hardly seasoned. No surprise when you look up their health scores they failed inspection in the past for unclean facilities and not even having proper plumbing as latest as November 2024. They've somehow either outright failed or barely passed as long as certain conditions were to be met 13 out of 27 times over the years which is crazy. Stay away!

Very good food and excellent customer service. We always have a good experience here. The young man that brings out the food is very nice.

Visited this restaurant 3/21/25, when I say rude customer service I’m being nice in my choice of words. The gray haired guy that works the register is definitely going to be the downfall of this establishment and he needs critical training in customer service. I walked out today never to return especially if he’s going to be there. This is the 3rd time I’ve tried patronizing your business and had to endure rude service from the same individual

This was my first visit to Market Fish, and as the cashier told me, "You'll be back!" Well, she was right, I'm definitely going back! Everything was excellent!

My first time here I ordered combo shrimp with Jack salmon. The jack salmon taste like it was old and spoiled, and I had six small little shrimps that came with it. Only thing I ate was the shrimp and the coleslaw. I threw the jack salmon away. it taste spoil. I will not recommend anyone to go here and

I have been going to the store for 4 years and they over cook my shrimp one time. I took them back the manager said that I could get another pound of shrimp. But because I had ate some of them they was only going to give me a small when I ordered a large so therefore they don't keep their word when the manager say come back I get another pound then you show up the customer service of the cashiers working the counter don't want to do what you told them.... and I use to spend over a hundred a month... NO MORE! Then the guy that was at the counter told me because I got upset that somebody in the store one of the customers should hit me in my face...

Yelp
I had catfish nuggets and walleye filets. The fish was fresh. It was cooked in cornmeal like it should have been. It was quite a treat. I bought the catfish nuggets in a half pan. It was the best fish value I ever had. We had it at work. Five people couldn't eat all of it. The coleslaw was also fresh and crispy. All together it was about 50.00. Believe me, there is no better value. It was like home cooking.

Yelp
this place back in the day was the place to go , but now ,not so much ,i would never eat here again , never order catfish fillets because they are substituting it for tilapia instead , and think that you are crazy and don't know the difference, i order 20 pieces of catfish fillet pay $50.70 and when I got home, everyone was saying it was tilapia. I ate a piece and they were right I called them and they did not want to honor or give me the difference in price refunded , instead they wanted to give us a different smaller order to me that is saying you're guilty. Save your money. Do not waste your money here. They are going the cheaper route to get a profit now.

Yelp
As a Chicago native I always have supported our local food restaurants . So this pains me because I actually loved this fish restaurant. On the day of August 2nd , my grandmother decided she wanted to treat us to a pan of fillet catfish . Remind you it's supposed to be "catfish ". So as my family and I dug in , I immediately could tell it wasn't catfish but tasted like and had the meat of tilapia. Once my mother ate a few more bits. She agreed , mind you the fish was $50. So my sister decided to call and let them " their response was " oh you can get something else" so now we're all looking skeptical because he never denied it . I used to eat their fillets are the time and trust me this was not that kind of fish or how it tastes. The inside even looked differently. I just want these restaurants to be "truthful " don't charge us catfish prices and give us man made tilapia fish!!! That's not right!!! So I'm pretty sure they have been doing this for a while especially, since they think no one is paying attention.

Yelp
The food is always good and fresh. This restaurant has some really good fried fish and chicken. They also have a seafood rice option instead of fries. A takeout restaurant located in the Roseland area.

Yelp
This used to be my favorite place for fish however I stopped going there because they substituted some odd tasting fish for catfish. I know what catfish look and smell like and it definitely wasn't catfish. in addition the perch fish is so small. They take one perch fillet and cut it in half (as if we can't tell) and sell it as two pieces of fish. so a large perch dinner has six little strips of fish. They are not consistent with their cooking of the fish. I used to LOVE them but don't pour water on me and tell me it's raining!!!

Cece K.

Yelp
My favorite is cat fish tails however, each time I call to order, they NEVER have them. This is EVERY week. Please take them off the menu if you don't have them because that's false advertising.

Yelp
Had Catfish nuggets with lemon pepper, they were cooked to perfection. Best I've had in a very long time from anywhere.

Yelp
MF2...son of a fish.#FIshInDaHood. The fish was fresh, seasoned well and sold at a great price. The service, well, fish in the hood comes with a side of attitude. If you prefer service with a smile, grab your grub and run to your car.....Next time I will phone my order in, grab my 'tude and pick up my take out. I

Yelp
Ok so this was my 1st time at the place And I was not in the mood for cooking so I was giving this place a try. Well my food was ok I don't like the French fries with the extra batter on them. I guess I'm just old school Especially with my fish it just seemed like that does not match. Now I do have to say my fish and shrimp was ok I can order again But not that much of a flavor at all to me. But the shrimp had a nice kick that's was a + My bread at the bottom was used like for a paper towel for the gease. So you know what that means this place is not cooking in the best oil. And to top it off I could not enjoy bread with my fish. Because it was full of grease. Ok so to sum it all up I can give this place another try hopefully I can have my bread on the side and that my food will be cooked much better. Yelp yelp

Yelp
My favorite is the catfish nuggets and their traditional hot sauce. Cooked fresh upon order and they take call-in orders.

Naheim J.

Yelp
I don't understand how the same place can be so different depending when you come in. I first went on a weeknight around 10pm. Ordered catfish nuggets. Food was great. Fries were nice & crispy. Nuggets were flavorful. Went back the following sunday afternoon. Ordered more catfish nuggets. Also BONELESS Buffalo fish. Fish was FULL OF BONES. The catfish nuggets looked NOTHING like what I ordered a few days earlier. They were not appealing looking Like before.& the fries were soggy & bland. Don't know if I will ever be back. But if I do, It definitely will not be on a Sunday afternoon.

Yelp
I purchased perch and it was very small and fried to darn hard for my teeth to handle.

Yelp
Love this place. The fish is always fresh and their fried food is never greasy. I only wish they could do something about Hustle Man who tries to sell you movies and mix tapes. But I guess you can't hate on his hustle.

Yelp
This place won't knock your socks off, but it's about the best you're going to get if you're in the hood of Roseland area and looking for decent seafood. I usually get the seafood combo which comes with shrimp, jack salmon, fries, hush puppies, coleslaw & bread. It's a decent value for the money. One thing that is a turn off for me is their batter that they fry their fish in. To me, it's not the best. I'll stomach it, but I'm not too fond of it. Service is a tad bit slow due to the fact that there are only 2 people on duty everyday, the cook and the front counter lady doing everything else. One woman in her review claimed to have saw roaches in the place! I've never seen anything like that and I'm the type of person who pays attention to the cleanliness of a restaurant. Believe me, if I ever see such a thing it will be my last stop here! I'll stop here if I'm working in the area and in the mood for seafood, but other than that, I won't go out of my way for this place.

Yelp
I really enjoy the fish and shrimp but the fries suck big time. Maybe a different type of frozen fries should be purchased or a quality brand, fries were too bready.

Yelp
The food isn't worth your life....people are being serviced without masks and the man at the register didn't have his mask on. It was hanging down from his nose. If you own a business in the black community and our community is being hit the hardest by COVID, then why in the hell wont you abide by the social distancing rules? Why would you serve people without PPE. You are telling me you don't give a darn about my life or those in my community. I won't be going back. Even the cop that came in to get his fish, did not have a mask. Had my vision been better, I would have called his commander. People just don't give a darn! By your own fish and cook it. Leave these places alone that don't respect us or our communities.
google avatar

Tangie W.

Yelp
I called and asked about some information about some fish he was very rude and impatient it seem like he had an attitude for whatever reason. I wasn't disrespectful, I was just trying to ask prices and what kind of fish do they carry. Well obviously it's not the same owners that used to have it when I grew up in the area in the 80's . Whenever spend my money in that establishment you have to learn to be patient with your customers and have some respect I can give my money to somebody else and I don't even live in Chicago I was doing it for a family dinner you won't get none of my money and I'll make sure I spread the word

Yelp
I saw roaches crawling on their raw meat counter. I told the lady behind the glass and she just giggled and shrugged it off. Nastiest place ever. I walked out on my Order and never been back since.

Yelp
This seafood give the best tasting catfish I ever ate. It's reminds of fish I ate back in the day and shrimp OMG. Employees are also nice. Love food is very addictive!

Yelp
MF2 has the best chicken I've ever tasted. They stay open late & are very polite. The food is always fresh. I definitely recommend them.
google avatar

Chyuuch A.

Yelp
All the food I've gotten from here has been good. The chicken tenders were exceptional on my last visit. But the balding guy who works @ the cash register the times I've been there is an ASSHOLE plain & simple. No customer service skills, comes off as a pretty shitty person. His pissy attitude grinds my gears & prevents me from going there more often. They are much politer @ Gerry's fish & chicken on 103rd & State

Lela H.

Yelp
We just moved to the area. I ordered the Chicken Wings which were flavorful and cooked perfectly. My fiance ordered a large Buffalo Fish. There were 3 pieces of fish. We expected more fish to be in a large order. Overall the experience was Good but the quantity of the fish wasn't well.
