The Best New Fried Chicken Sandwiches In Seattle

"We love our community here at The Infatuation. And when we get something wrong, we listen. After publishing this guide without having tasted the new buttermilk-fried chicken sandwich from Market Fresh, the Instagram comments immediately poured in. We admit we lost a little sleep over it. But around 15 hours later, we ate this glorious, crunchy, nori pepper-spiced chicken topped with garlicky aioli, spicy pineapple gochujang, pickles, and shredded cabbage slaw, and suddenly understood why people were blowing us up. Long story short, please consider this our public apology. Just note that of their three locations, only the one on 4th and Madison is open." - carlo mantuano, aimee rizzo

The Downtown Lunch Guide

"Market Fresh is a buffet-style hot bar that also serves a few to-order lunch options, one of which is a very important fried chicken sandwich. Double-coated in a nori pepper dredge and topped with pineapple gochujang, fresh cabbage, pickles, and garlicky aioli on brioche, eating this drippy, salty, crunchy thing is one of the best uses of your lunch hour. Market Fresh - Review - Downtown - Seattle - The Infatuation

"I love our community here at The Infatuation. And when we get something wrong, we listen. After publishing our guide to The Best New Fried Chicken Sandwiches without having tasted the new buttermilk-fried chicken sandwich from Market Fresh, it became clear quickly that I messed up. This hot bar spot Downtown recently revamped their menu, thanks to the owners’ son, Justin Choung. Formerly a chef at Marea in NYC, he flew home to Seattle during the pandemic to help his parents pivot from their buffet-style model into a lineup of excellent sandwiches, salads, and grain bowls. I finally ate this glorious, crunchy, nori pepper-spiced chicken topped with garlicky aioli, spicy pineapple gochujang, pickles, and shredded cabbage slaw, and suddenly understood why people were blowing us up—this sandwich is amazing. Please consider this my public apology. SEA Guide The Best Fried Chicken Sandwiches In Seattle" - Aimee Rizzo

Google
Lovely lunch time spot, with excellent service and a tasty selection of filling food. The price per meal is extremely reasonable, with a full box of food that I have leftovers with usually costing around $20-$25. You can certainly load up on a lot of meat and get up to $30. On average the price per pound is good on my wallet for the excellent quality of the food. On some occasions the orange chicken and meat alls was a bit too salty for my taste, but still overall delicious. My favorites here are the noodles, orange chicken, herb chicken and beef slices. Owners give a friendly and welcoming vibe. Great lunchtime spot!

Google
Why only one star? There is no link between the place name to what it offering. It is nothing but "another lunch Please do not expect more than that. The food is an avg+ for a buffet. Basic service as expected. And same as the atmosphere.

Google
Just had breakfast from here and it was AMAZING!! The hashbrown and eggs were delicious and the bacon is PERFECT. I'm not a big fan of the sausage but my eyes were also bigger than my stomach! Lol. I wish I knew about this place back in my bar-hopping days, this is the best hangover food. I didn't try the salad yet so I will update when I do!!

Google
This place serves a huge need in the area for breakfasts and lunches. Big lunch and breakfast buffet with tons of healthy options and a reasonable price. Friendly service, and the food was good. I will be back on days I have to be in the office.

Google
The older Asian woman at the register accused me of “stealing the last time I was there”. I’d only been there once before and paid for my items, so I’m unsure what she was referring to. I guess I may look like someone who stole previously? Either way she was straight up arguing with me about it when I tried to tell her she had the wrong person. I realized it was pretty useless so I left and told her I wouldn’t be giving the store my money if she was going to be accusatory. I understand theft is a large issue downtown but maybe don’t harass customers who are coming up to the register to give you their hard earned money.

Friendly fresh healthy and affordable!! Best deal in downtown for lunch

Google
Great salad bar. Glad this place didn’t close like all the others quick lunch spots nearby.

Google
Takeout with a lot of delicious options. Great price (it's simply priced by weight). Nice people too. I went ten minutes before closing, and some of the popular items like terriyaki chicken, salmon, or mac n cheese was out, but there was still enough variety of good food to choose from. I'll come back earlier next time.

Yelp
Located on 4th and Cherry, first floor of the Columbia tower. They serve breakfast and lunch on the weekdays. They have a good variety of healthy food options and it always seems fresh. It's almost $10/lb. I try to load up on the veggies. I haven't tried it all but my fav would be - pineapple chicken, salmon, tuna pasta, seaweed tofu, medi salad, and avo tomato salad. It was about $15 for a big plate that I had. There's plenty of seats to sit at as well after you pay for it. It's fast and healthy and convenient.

Yelp
How have I not reviewed this place? I've come here a couple times a week for the past ten years. A reliable buffet with fresh, high quality and reasonably priced food. The lunch is great but don't sleep on the breakfast buffet. I love getting some eggs and sausage and a few tater tots and chowing down. Prices are reasonable and the people are super nice and remember you. Ambiance? It's a buffet in a food court, but again everything is clean and fresh. Want a quick breakfast or lunch? Try market fresh!

Yelp
Great assortment of fresh food and cuisines! Boxes by weight can be very affordable and the lady at checkout was so sweet.

Yelp
Great food and staff. Conveniently opens for breakfast and lunch, and located within walking distance for many.

Yelp
This place has been on my list for a bit after hearing the new chicken sandwich and the hype of their new menu items. It's a bit far from work but I decided to finally give it a try. Right now, they do not offer the buffet but will be soon :). You basically tell them what you want and they will bring it out to you. You get to choose from 1-4 items (price vary). I chose the 4 item box and got the baked salmon, curry chicken, roasted veggies and vegetables yakisoba. For $10, it's a pretty decent portion. And the quality of food is definitely there. The salmon was light and good, the curry chicken was flavorful, and I especially like the yakisoba because of the texture. Overall it was a pretty good place. Too bad it's not closer to me or I would go here more often. Definitely will need to be back here though to try their chicken sandwich and their salad bowls eventually.

Yelp
Wouldn't have known about Market Fresh if it wasn't for Instagram and I'm glad I went. Market Fresh is a diy salad bar, yet they also serve breakfast and burgers. Due to COVID, as most of the hospitality industry they had to adjust, yet they are still serving healthy, hearty and fast meals. I got to try the Crispy Chicken Sandwich ($10.50) with a side of tater tots ($2.50). The chicken was juicy and the batter was had a great crunch when you take that first bite. There was a bit of heat, but that could have been from the chili pineapple sauce. But mixed with the coleslaw and the lightly pickled onions, this chicken sandwich made me want to dance. And honestly, you can never go wrong with tots. They had several sauces prepackaged on the side for you to take as you grab your meal and head out. A solid meal if your in the area and want to eat it while watching enjoying a beautiful day.

Jin H.

Yelp
I've never tried a chicken sandwich as good as the one here at Market fresh!!! A tender, juicy, huge chicken piece in the bread. ***chicken size is x2-3 the size compared to chickfil-a. You have to try this!!!!! I would definitely come back to this place. Service was great as well!!!

Yelp
The self-serve buffet had ample options to choose from- I exclusively went with the hot food bar, and despite certain meat options looking slightly dehydrated (like pesto chicken and baked salmon) in the warming station, the food was actually very good. The green curry chicken provided a nice accent of flavor alongside the pesto chicken and baked salmon, and the roasted brussel sprouts and broccoli had just the right texture- not overcooked at all with a slight bite/crunch. Fried pepper chicken also had a nice tangy fried crust to it that stayed crispy despite sitting in the warmer. I get the aversion some folks may have to buffet serve-yourself type of places, but this spot should change your mind. It's not only affordable and convenient, it gives you a panoply of flavor options.

Yelp
Great to see a restaurant adapt to the pandemic, an in stride. Being a traditionally buffet place, the reopening came with a new items in the form of tuned up presets. All presets seemed delicious. I picked the braised tofu bowl. Which sounded good but tasted even better! Definite Asian/Korean influence with bowl accessories (radish, cabbage, farro grain, onion, and roasted cauliflower) that were tasty, different from the norm and definitely healthy. My roommate got a garden burger, but ate it faster than I could get a picture or a bite. Gear to see the local favorite up and running again!

Yelp
Our local buffet lunch spot has a friendly staff, decent (albeit) repetitive selection. You'll find a huge salad bar;, a variety of Asian food selections (fried rice, Yakisoba noodles, General Tso Chicken, Teriyaki and curry chicken. Here is the but... It is super expensive.. $7.99 a lb is not cheap. Especially for oatmeal .. ouch

Yelp
Market Fresh is on the ground floor of the Fourth & Madison building but on the 3rd Ave entrance side, go figure. It's a good spot to stop by in the morning to grab some breakfast. It's buffet style where you just grab a box and fill it up with whatever. They have eggs, bacon, hash browns, sausages, potatoes, waffles, and all that. They have some lighter options like yogurt, with all kinds of toppings from granola, fruit, seeds and they also have a oatmeal bar. Also some baked goods like cookies and banana bread. Pricing is pretty good, my breakfast usually cost me under $5 so that's a pretty good deal for breakfast. The ladies that work there are very nice, will keep an eye out if items are running low and refill it pretty quickly. At lunch time, the line is going out the door so it's pretty popular with the work crowd that works in the building or the neighboring ones. The food seems to be mainly Asian themed with teriyaki, meats, noodles, sushi rolls etc. But they have salads, veggies and lighter fare if you trying to stay svelte. Overall, it's super convenient for me and will continue to stop by.

Yelp
This place is right across the street from my work. It is quick, easy, and fast. You walk in, grab a container (they've got a variety), fill up with the box with food, they way it, you pay, you're back out the door. Pretty much a salad bar, but they also have hot food. Salad bar: a good variety of veggies and dressings. They've got an assortment of lettuce, from romaine, spring mix to aragula. They also have premade salad mixes at the end, I like their broccoli one. Hot food: they've got a Korean selection it seems, I like the sweet potato glass noodles. They've also got wings and potatoes as well. I also like their meatballs. If you want to sit and eat there, I think there are a few tables in the lobby of the building it's in. I always take it back to my office. Friendly ladies at the register.

Minji C.

Yelp
They revamped their menu and let me say, I am extremely impressed at the quality and taste of the food. They've stuck with their healthy food concept and yet their salads are so flavorful. I've tried their braised tofu salad and a few others, all of which have exceeded my standards. If you're looking to indulge I highly recommend the chicken sandwich which I argue is the best in Seattle. If you've been to Howlin' Rays in LA, I actually think this place is tastier. Bring your vegetarian friend, they have a quinoa burger that is equally as good. All in all, I recommend checking this place out whether you were a pre-COVID customer or a new face!

Yelp
oh yesss, best fried chicken sandwich in seattle! you deserve to treat yourself to this amazing sando. flavorful chicken with a crispy crunchy outside and juicy inside. their tots are to die for, the nori seasoning is a great addition to the entire meal.

Yelp
If I'm being honest this place would be my last resort if I needed to buy food but whatever happened in past few months is working!!! A complete 180 and I'm living for it!!! One of the best places in the area, the food is AMAZING especially with its price. everything I have tried here never disappoints me. I'm grateful for them during this pandemic!! Keep it going!

Yelp
I've only been here once so far--but I'll be back! The salad bar is wonderful. Some of the hot food looked a little less... wonderful... but not terrible. I might have just been there late in the lunch hour. It seemed reasonably priced, too--not sure what the price per pound was, but I had a protein-heavy salad in a "big box" and it cost me around $14. Heck yes!
google avatar

Claudia C.

Yelp
I would give this place a 3.5 stars if possible because it's above average in my opinion! I work really a couple of blocks away and this is my go-to salad place when I don't have time to pack lunch. The line can seem long but it moves pretty quickly. My favorite thing to get here is the fried tofu. I do find that the quality can be inconsistent because it's self-serve and you don't really know how long certain things have been sitting there. Some times the hot food is super fresh and other times it's probably been out there for an hour but that's just the nature of this type of place. Tips: Salad items are pretty light (in terms of weight). What really gets you is the asian food toward the middle/end of the line. Adding things like egg rolls, some salmon, noodles, and chicken wings can really bring you from a $5 meal to $10+. Unfortunately, this place doesn't have a limit cap on the price so just be wary!
google avatar

Cameron W.

Yelp
Market fresh is in the basement of Rainer square with a variety of Asian foods and salad choices. They have a lot of selection, and I sampled as much as I could fit in a box. The food itself was not quite hot enough (room temperature) and the dishes were quite heavy and a little overcooked. Because of the large selection of food, I believe they compromised quality. However it is also quite affordable so I feel you get what you pay for! I would recommend going here if you are looking for a quick lunch and want to choose exactly how much food you want and can't decide what you want! Otherwise if you know what you want and want a full serving of it, many other restaurants would be more worthwhile.

Lana A.

Yelp
If you haven't tried Market Fresh's menu items you owe it to yourself! The crispy chicken sandwich is phenomenal and fried to order. It's got a good kick to it so if you're sensitive to spice ask for the sauce on the side. Tried their Ichi-Bahn Mi today and it holds up too! Great quality baguette, huge portion, fresh veggies. Your choice of protein, chicken, meatballs or tofu. Their self-serve cold and hot bar is back open as well, with stringent cleaning methods. I feel super comfortable ordering and eating here and have for 10+ years.
google avatar

Renee S.

Yelp
Arrived at 1130am and everything was fresh and abundant. Their are four sections, very close together: 1) cold typical salad toppings and greens, 2) Korean/Asian noodle bar, 3)a meat/seafood bar ( 5 shrimp limit on the breaded shrimp is duly noted above them, but no salmon restrictions), 4) fruit/dessert bar. Everything was $7.99 per pound and I came under $8 and was more than satisfied. The salmon was deliciously moist and I'm told it doesn't last if you arrive too late for lunch.
google avatar

Bella C.

Yelp
The fruit and salad bar here is usually very soggy and not fresh. Their asian food is not good at all which is weird because this place seems asian-owned. The only thing good here is probably the pasta.
google avatar

Jen L.

Yelp
This place has been consistently a disappointment. The food is alright, but nothing special. The prices are not clearly posted anywhere. Several items have a separate, 'per piece' price, or are priced higher per pound, which causes the cashier to want to open your box of food and look through it, which I find disgusting; I don't want my lunch pawed through. One past review states that they have half priced lunch starting at 3, and ending when they close at 3:30. 1., they now close at 3. 2., they knock off 25%, not half. There is a far better Market Fresh underneath/across the street from Ranier Tower. The food is better, and they actually honor their deals properly. I think this one is a lost cause.
google avatar

Anne D.

Yelp
This is the perfect lunch spot for the downtown indecisive picky eater. It's a buffet style kind of eatin'. I like this location better than Columbia Tower's because it has more selection and I don't feel so claustrophobic. Food selection: Fruit, veggies, salad, salmon, and more. Seating: You can eat at a table in the IDX lobby area. If you want outdoor seating you can also walk to the Marion food court a block away. If you want indoor seating go to Safeco Plaza next to Mel's Market. They also have hand sanitizer by the register.
google avatar

Uno D.

Yelp
They mislabel prices, are generally dishonest about their practices, and incredibly rude. They have a rule on something like... no more than 5 slices of bacon. I purchased breakfast there today and got bacon with my food in a non-see-through container. The woman behind the counter, who was sick and coughing into her hand tried to open my food to go through it with her hands to count he bacon to make sure I wasn't buying too much of it. On top of all this, it's expensive. To add on, most of their food really isn't that good. Why did I even go here in the first place? World Fresh Asian Eatery a couple blocks away is cheaper, nicer, and better food.
google avatar

KT E.

Yelp
The ladies at the cashier are always nice. I take my lunch at 11am usually and for awhile I was coming here every day for their salmon. Sometimes I have to take a later lunch and I get disappointed when the salmon or other items I like are all gone. I stopped by there again today to pick up some brown rice since I brought my lunch but forgot my rice. It was quick, easy and I'm really picky with my rice but their brown rice was really good! I was in and out within minutes! Important for me and I'm sure for others who work in downtown as well!
google avatar

Nhi L.

Yelp
I go here a couple times a week for breakfast. I always get the oatmeal and they have a wide selection of toppings. I usually top it with fresh berries, apples, almonds, coconut flakes, flax seeds and agave. It's healthy, good and convenient.
google avatar

Daren D.

Yelp
This is a solid pound buffet! And the [main] Korean lady that's often there both times is super sweet and has an amazing smile. She always remembers no utensils for me, too. Breakfast! I usually get the potatoes with links and/or sausages patties and/or hashbrown patties mixed all in. They also have scrambled items, toast(?), waffles and some other stuff I forgot. Lunch! Full spread of delightful choices to choose from. A well-stocked salad bar and dressings is popular in the line front. I usually skip it and go for the meat, veggie and rice items, among other things (tofu, steamed potstickers, japchae and more). Neat condiment, snack and drink selection, as well. You'll also find a variety of take-out containers from small to normal, paper to plastic.
google avatar

Jordan R.

Yelp
I go a couple times a week for breakfast. I usually get sausage, eggs, and bacon. The eggs could be much better, but what could you really expect from powdered eggs? At least that's what they seem like. If the eggs were real I would've given them 4 stars. The atmosphere is good and friendly. Place is well kept and clean. The checkout out is fast and easy. No place to sit if that's what you're looking for. Place is good enough for me to come back on a consistent basis.
google avatar

Jeff E.

Yelp
I've gone to this place for the last time. The food's meh. The prices are high. The cashiers are pushy -- you have practically to beg them for a receipt. But the worst offense: two times in the past month, they've charged me twice for the same meal -- on different days. Typically I'd give them the benefit of the doubt, but they've been identical charges for weighed food (highly unlikely) and the duplicate charges fall on days I'm not downtown. Whether it was accidental or intentional, I don't appreciate a business siphoning money out of my bank account. The food's expensive enough.
google avatar

Nathan M.

Yelp
Good place for a quick lunch. They have a large variety from healthy to not-so-much healthy. I tried the salmon and a salad and was very satisfied, plus that means I can eat a less healthy and even more yummy dinner tonight!
google avatar

James F.

Yelp
Not as good as the Bellevue location, but still a pretty solid option for people who want to focus on salads, vegetables, meats, or other sides. Pros: Wide variety of food and salad options. The teriyaki and spicy chicken is very good. Cons: Be really careful about getting "premium" items here as the additional charge is pretty ridiculous. Also be careful about getting vegetables as they are soaked in butter/oil and not as calorie friendly as you might think (although pretty tasty).
google avatar

Tony G.

Yelp
After working in the IDX Tower for about 8 months, I finally decided to try this place...because the lunch I brought was boring. There seemed to be a lot of choices, but I stuck with chow mein, teriyaki chicken, chicken egg roll, and a hot wing. This equalled a little over a pound, but I do not feel deathly full like I would at other chinese restaurants. Probably because they dont put all that awful crap in it. Give this place a try, and if you see me walking on the street, say hi. Zipzap Zubidy Bop!

Mary P.

Yelp
The menu change at Market Fresh at 4th and Madison Building gets a thumbs up. My co-workers and I have been raving about the food here. The veggie burger is a must try. Love the variety of sauces and dressing for salad or tots. Haven't had anything bad, yet. This is now my go to place. Please support your local businesses!!
google avatar

Peter L.

Yelp
It's my go to spot especially when it gets cloudy and dreary... For breakfast, the eggs, hash browns and bacon hits the spot. For lunch, usually get the salad bar. Can't go wrong with that.. The kicker is the cashiers. Their energy is infectious.
google avatar

Alix H.

Yelp
My default lunch place if I can't think of anywhere else more creative. From salad bar to Asian dishes to fresh grilled salmon, you can't beat $5.25 per pound of freshly cooked food, yo. Plus it's healthy and no MSG added. Can't go wrong with this place. LOTS of choices to fit your various moods.
google avatar

Le M.

Yelp
I refuse to believe that I fall for patterns. Or that one day, to my utter surprise, I'll be like my dad, a man of predictable eating habit. All this I realized as I pile my plate at Market Fresh with the same food 2-3 lunch times a week. I'm like a work bee flying to the same nectar; a whale navigating the same feeding pools. I'm disgusted. I want change, but resistance is futile. Market Fresh is just around the corner from work. WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW BEFORE YOU GO? The address is 4th Ave, but this Market Fresh is really on the corner of Madison and 3rd. It only happens that the building's postal address faces 4th Ave -- which made me postal looking the first time. WHY GO THERE? A great selection of fresh and reasonably priced lunch buffet-that- you-weigh. There is a scale at the cash register and you pay by the weight of your lunch. WHATCHA GOT? The pattern is simple. On the first section, there's salad of all kinds, followed by salad fixins and dressing. (I skip the greens and leave the grazers be). Next are the fruits: cantaloupe, strawberry, pineapple, etc. I go for mango and kiwi. Then comes the Asian-inspired section: rolls, tofu, seaweed salad, chow mien. A bit of seaweed makes the mango and kiwi pop. Then I spoon some avocado-tomato salad. The hot food section will find you with an array of meat, veggies and carbs - teriyaki chicken, bulgogi beef, rice, potatoes, etc. I add to my plate: 3 bbq meatballs; 2 slices of baked salmon and a bit of steamed brown rice. Voila! TIP: Go early, around 11:30 to avoid line and the food selection divine.
google avatar

Troy C.

Yelp
Uhg! The eggs (breakfast time), nasty. You HAVE TO start taking care of your breakfast foods better. This morning the eggs were chewy, mildly green and certainly off color, bathed in strange juices. I would like to point out that when you go over and stir up this mess to make it look fresh, your not fooling anyone. Please start putting a focus on the quality of this staple food. I speak for the other customers who I have been in your store with when the eggs are like this. It's just gross.
google avatar

Kirk B.

Yelp
This is a good quality and affordable salad bar. The people are really friendly and the service is super fast. I come here 4X / week so I know what I'm talking about. If you need a quick and basic salad this is your spot.
google avatar

Cathy S.

Yelp
If you don't like sandwiches, there's not a whole lot of choices for lunch in the financial district. That's why this place is so great. You want some spicy tuna rolls with spinach lasagne on the side? Here you go. You promised your trainer that you'd have a nice healthy salad, but you want to start off with some beef ribs and a potsticker? Go right ahead. Anything you want, only what you want...for less than $6 a pound. All very fresh, all incredibly delicious. BTW - this is located on 3rd & Madison.
google avatar

Lawrence L.

Yelp
Market fresh = mondays. Salad bars really great if you don't want to eat too much. For ~$6 a lb, it's a fairly good deal for a light lunch with lots of veggies and healthy meat options. I like their peas and chicken the most. Fruit can be hit or miss.
google avatar

Rocket N.

Yelp
I work in Pioneer Square and I've been coming to market fresh for lunch for a few years. It's a keeper. Great, predictable variety. I always get a base of spinach topped with seaweed salad, roast veggies and salmon - it's my meal that makes me feel the best. Only a few months ago I discovered that they also do breakfast... MARKET FRESH BREAKFAST IS THE BEST!! Especially if you're hung over and NEED EGGS, which is a pretty frequent state for me. Their mini french toasts are my favorite way to get over the "dear lord why am I awake this early" blues. Great way to start the day!
google avatar

T K.

Yelp
Weighed my meal and then charged me .65 per slice of bacon. Shouldn't the bacon be removed and weighed individually if you are charging me per slice?
google avatar

Chris L.

Yelp
I have to give them kudos for a mostly outstanding salad bar. The chicken could be a bit less dry, the bay shrimp a bit less scary, but the veggies are always bursting with color and freshness, with a great variety of stuff to adorn your greens. In addition to the salad bar, there are a few cold prepared foods - basic roll sushi and a few tossed salads and veggie dishes - and a hot line. Unfortunately, the hot food is what knocks the 4th star off for me, as nearly every protein item involves breading or sugary sauce or both. The salmon used to be a nice escape from that trend, but lately it's been very dry and of poor quality, so I've stopped getting that. At least in bypassing the hot food side, you jump the line. ;) They serve breakfast, and as long as you don't expect good things of eggs, they deliver - the sausage and bacon and other breakfast-y items look like they would be good and seem popular. If you are looking for protein, though, the eggs are rubbery and fail to please despite the enticing ingredients they add (current features are cajun scramble and lobster frittata). All in, it's a decent place to get a quick lunch.
google avatar

Julian H.

Yelp
It's probably not fair to Market Fresh, but I've only had their food during "happy hour" after it's been sitting under the heat lamps for three or four hours and is basically cooked into oblivion. That's why they drop the price after 3 pm, of course. The salad stuff is yummy but in general hot food served buffet style is not the best. But it's good if you are in a hurry and want some a la carte variety.
google avatar

Seth J.

Yelp
I LOVE this place!! Great, fresh salads and really good meats. I ate there for lunch almost every day for a few months and got super ripped. I love their chicken, crab and shrimp. The prices are good too! My buddy went to Veggie Grill right by there and got a little, terrrrrrrrible salad for $12. Mine at Market Fresh was way fresher, bigger and was only $5.
google avatar

Mia R.

Yelp
Every time I go there, I'm satisfied. I'm satisfied with the variety, the options, and the price. Usually I make a salad from the fairly expansive salad bar (make myself my own dressing with the available vinegar and oils), and have a side of either chicken teriyaki or salmon. They also have 2 different basic sushi rolls, chap chae (Korean noodles), curry, tofu, spring rolls, fried shrimp, kale, cooked veggies, and more! I could go here everyday for lunch and not be bored (well... To a point.) What makes this place so great though is the price-- for a salad and some type of meat/fish, I pay about $5-7 as its by weight. Also, the radish in their beef with daikon (radish) is SO good!!

Yelp
Market Fresh is a block from my office, which makes it really convenient. Because I work downtown, all lunch eateries have the potential of being busy during peak hours so that's always a concern if you're pressed for time. The answer to that is to eat before noon or after 1 o'clock, which is often what I do. I like having choices between hot food and cold food in a salad-bar type of establishment. I love that things move quickly and I'm not bothered by the fact that there's no where to sit, because I just go back to my office. If you do need to sit, there are some bar tables and high stools in the office building lobby. My faves include: spinach salad, fresh mango, spicy tofu (which isn't spicy but still tastes good), and grilled chicken breasts. They keep the food fresh and coming from the kitchen on a pretty consistent basis. The staff has always been friendly - often smiling and asking about my day. I think the prices are too expensive for what you receive because it's a per pound rate. I would eat there more often if they brought their prices down $1 per pound.

Yelp
Its very surprising to me how its so hard to find a vegetarian salad downtown. So if you like the meat free salads, your best option is to make your own. Market Fresh has unparalleled salad bar selection downtown, and this is my favorite location. Even when I worked across the street from the Ranier tower I preferred to walk to this one. Be warned, though. Salad bar eating is an art. Its taken me years to craft the perfect $6 salad. With all the yummy selections its easy to get carried away.

Yelp
They are always fresh, convenient, clean and friendly. I like their variety between healthy salad bar, prepared pasta salads, and hot foods. Great spot to grab a lunch box when you're busy at work.
