Yelp
Been waiting for this place to open since it's now the closest grocery store to where I live (the Safeway at 28th and Hawthorne was the previous winner)
Stopped in here on Memorial Day, a few days after their opening on Thursday. I wasn't really looking to buy anything, just curious to see what the options would be. I don't do much grocery shopping, so was more interested in the prepared foods, and was glad to see they were similar to a Whole Foods with regards to having a salad bar ($7/pound), hot foods (I think it was $7/pound for breakfast and $9/pound for lunch/dinner), as well as a poke bar (I don't remember the price here, but it was expensive). There's a nice little bar area with 10, 16, 32, and 64 ounce pricing.
I was pretty impressed with the local choices - beer choices on tap included De Garde, the Commons, etc, and coffee beans include Spella, Ristretto, Roseline, Dapper & Wise, Five Points, Upper Left, etc, but also surprised they had "standard" choices like Triscuits and Kelloggs - I feel like Whole Foods or New Seasons seem to lack the mainstream choices, limiting themselves mainly to high margin specialty goods and house brands.
Butcher counter looked pretty good, with some good looking cuts, a variety of sausages (less than Sheridan's), and a solid looking choice of seafood. It'll be interesting to see if they're able to maintain this level, or if this is just opening bells and whistles.
Not a huge grocery store and a little pricey (though I think inline with Whole Foods, New Season, etc), but the convenience via proximity will make it the spot I'm popping into when I need to make a quick stop, especially as it's on the way home for me, and getting something from the salad, hot food, or poke bars seems like a viable option . . .
