Best Irish Pubs in Atlanta | Eater Atlanta

"This warm and friendly Dublin-style pub in downtown Decatur includes a rotating tap selection throughout the year of Irish and local beer and cider. For those unable to make it to Decatur, the Marlay House food truck was created to keep Atlantans supplied with the pub’s popular fish and chips. Grab a seat outside on the front patio on a sunny day in Decatur and take a load off with a pint and Guinness-braised beef brisket and potatoes, fish and chips, or shepherd’s pie." - Denise K. James

The Best Bread Puddings at Atlanta Restaurants | Eater Atlanta

"Bread pudding may not be the first dessert people expect to find on the menu at an Irish pub, but the blueberry bread pudding at Marlay House will change that way of thinking. 10/10 recommend! We had our wedding welcome lunch at Marlay House and it was one of the best decisions we made. We worked with the general manager, Michelle, from March to plan for our lunch in August. From the beginning she was so helpful and accommodating to our needs. Their food options fit all of our guests dietary restrictions which was big for us. The day of our lunch the staff was incredible! Everyone was so friendly and kind to us. We felt very taken care of. Our guests raved about how delicious the food was. The pub was a great location especially for our out of town guests staying in Decatur Square. The pub has plenty of parking. Michelle and the team made sure everyone was comfortable and enjoying their time. If anyone is looking for a place to host their next event and want amazing food, friendly staff, great location, and good prices - look no further! Photo credits: @frykmanphotography

Google
Great place with a nice Irish feel. Staff and service are excellent. British Isle food was very good with nice selection of their signature drinks. Much better parking situation than the restaurants around the Decatur town square. We had a egg breakfast, fish and chips, smoky chicken sandwich and their signature Irish Roast dinner and desert available on Sundays only. This Irish roast dinner was more blackened than an English roast beef dinner with a lot of smoky flavors. Included dessert was out of this world.

I can't say I was thrilled with the food. The interior is a bit gloomy😒, and it's hard to read the menu.

Approaching the Marlay House, I noticed they had a small parking lot right next to the restaurant, along with a sign pointing to additional parking in the rear. I quickly found a spot in the side parking lot and headed to the outside seating area where I saw my group of friends. I joined them, and our server quickly came by to check on us.  I reviewed the beer and food menus. The beer selection was okay—about ten options to choose from, including offerings from some local Atlanta breweries. I started with a Three Taverns Night on Ponce IPA. We were chatting it up, and after a while, I started to get hungry. I ordered the grilled mahi tacos and a Creature Comforts Bigger Dreams Hazy IPA as my second beer. The tacos came out pretty quickly, and they were good—went well with the beer, too. A friend of mine ordered the fried fish tacos and really enjoyed them. I walked through the restaurant’s interior, and it was dimly lit, really living up to the Irish pub motif. Everything looked very clean and overall I enjoyed my first visit to Marlay House and would return to try some other items.

Google
Good service and patio. This is an Irish pub with a limited menu of brunch and bar food. It has a formidable patio that can be great on those long spring and fall afternoons. I went here for brunch on a Sunday. Our server was sweet and enthusiastic. It took her a long time to get to us and we didn't see her much. In her defense, it was her 4th day on the job and she wouldn't be 21 for another week or so. The food was mediocre. I ordered the burger which was dry. The fries were big and had good flavor, except that they seemed to have been under the heat lamp for a bit. They have a great beer selection and cocktails. I had a summery bourbon drink that was refreshing. My wife had fish and chips. She said it was good but didn't finish it and was not interested in the doggie bag. They have a decent beer selection.

Stopped by Marlay on a beautiful Tuesday evening. The outdoor seating was very popular and accompanied by a group of musicians. There was plenty of indoor seating available as well. Indoor pub decor was cozy. We were excited to see that there was a Tuesday menu special for small / shareable plates and drinks. Altogether, we ordered the fish and chips, pretzel, smoked chicken tacos, and deviled eggs. All were fantastic. Vinegar was on the table to sprinkle on the fish and chips. It was good with just the vinegar, but the tartar sauce was a nice touch as well (almost like a tartar-slaw?). The shredded smoked chicken tacos really surprised us and were so tasty. 10/10 would get again. Overall, great place with plenty of options on the menu. We pass by this place almost everday and it looks lively. We really enjoyed going on a "slower" day.

My mom & I really enjoyed our first visit to this pub! We really enjoyed the vibe, the service, and food. Lucy was our server and they were lovely! We both ordered the Greek Chicken Wrap w/Chips (aka fries). It was a nice combination of flavors. We also ordered the pretzel but beware, the mustard is strong enough to blow your hair back & make your nose run, but it is oh so good! Mom had a Manhattan w/Maker's Mark & Sweet Vermouth, no bitters. I had my classic IPA brewski: 3 Taverns Night on Ponce (one of my absolute fav local brews). Thursdays is Trivia Night so the place was packed, we hope to visit again soon.

Went to Marlay House Irish Pub for a friend’s birthday with a party of 12. We had called ahead to make a reservation, but it seemed like that didn’t really matter—seating was self-serve, and the staff looked overwhelmed. They eventually placed us in a small booth-like room, which wasn’t nearly big enough for our group. We had to squeeze in uncomfortably and pull up chairs on the sides. It would have been much better if they had pushed tables together or, at the very least, informed us during the reservation call that they couldn’t comfortably accommodate a party our size. As for the food, it was a mix of hits and misses. The appetizers—like the goat cheese fritters and pimento cheese—were solid. My warm Brussels sprouts salad was amazing, and I’d highly recommend it. But the D14 burger? Huge letdown. I asked for medium, got well-done, and the buns were dry and tough. We ended up ditching them and just eating the patty. The real saving grace of the night was our server. She was incredibly sweet and accommodating, despite how chaotic everything was. Overall, good food (with some exceptions), but the experience could have been much better with proper seating arrangements and a little more organization.

Yelp
I come here for trivia on Thursdays. Staff is always very friendly. There are great beers on draft and they do rotate. The food is great too. They do seasonal items/ weekly specials. The staples like their fish and chips or kerrygold pimento cheese are perfect. The right amount of batter, not too heavy, and their fries are crispy and salty. Of note, their condiments are great too. The chips come with a blue cheese and it's so yummy, not too pungent or overly blue cheesy. The honey mustard dip is also really good. Would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a simple pub with elevated food.

Yelp
The service was great. Friendly and fast. My shepherd's pie was fabulous. I like my food hot and it came out very hot! My smithwick's was good but flat. I did have to fight a few gnats for it but I won in the end. One thing that bothered me was I saw the DPH cert on the wall as we were leaving and it was 76 C. Hopefully the next time we go back there they will have a better score!

Yelp
Parking is a challenge. Nice atmosphere. Friendly staff. Not an Irish voice to be heard. Only basket ball no football or Rugby. Had lamb stew. Food was good. Had Irish South African and American food items. Worthy of a visit tasted just like my Gran used to make.

Yelp
Not a shocker that I had an incredible time here for St. Patrick's Day. Definitely my kind of Irish pub where you can slam drinks and hide in a corner while fight for your life. Throw in some great food like the fish and chips and some stew that had stout (I think that's what it was), you're destined for a great time. Service was great even at its busiest and the waitress was on point. I have to come check this place out on a normal weekend.

Yelp
I think they were just having a bad day when we went. I say this based on the other reviews I am seeing. BUT this review was our experience. It is very important that an establishment be transparent when there issues: Very friendly waitress let us know the frier was down, but there were other options which was cool. What was disappointing was the following: -Bar cooler on the fritz, so I was served warm chardonnay. -Smoked wings were habenero hot, so I could only eat 2. No, it wasn't the end of the world, but we weren't told BEFORE ordering. Just let the customers know, so they can make an informed decision. I felt it was a little deceitful, but I will say that my salad was really good, and the outdoor patio is very inviting.

Yelp
Had lunch at The Marlay today and it was delicious. Never had Irish food before so it was interesting. We ordered the smoked salmon, smoked wings, and chips for appetizers. The wings were very spicy but tasty, the salmon was really good with the aioli sauce (the bread wasn't my favorite), and the chips were very good. For the main course we had the Sheppards Pie that came out steaming, it was a large portion that could definitely be shared. That was tasty. We also had the Orange Chick'n (vegetarian) that came with cauliflower rice. A great tasty option if you don't eat meat. Finally we had the Banker & Mash, it was just a sausage and potato's, not a lot of flavor but the potatoes were pretty good. If you save room for dessert, the bread pudding was soooo good! It was just the right amount of sweet and soft, you have to try it. The restaurant had a good amount of space, indoor and outdoor. The booths are very spacious and the outdoor area looked really nice. Our server was okay, didn't come around much, but overall we enjoyed our lunch and would go back.

Yelp
Marley is in a great location right downtown in Decatur. They do offer some parking which is a bonus. The ambience is nice, warm and inviting with booths as well as tables and chairs. But here comes the BIG HOWEVER. The food is nothing special and the prices are a bit high. The fish and chips is good but some other items, not so much. I had their Falafel Gyro, which by the way they misspell on their website, at a pricey $18. The falafels were too big for the size of the pita they used so it made it difficult to eat. In addition, the falafels were dried out and overcooked and you can see they were just thrown into a deep fat fryer for far too long. The menu description mentions tzatziki that was very skimpy and you can hardly taste it at all. I clearly did not taste any love or care. Even my brother's hamburger, which is pretty much all he eats, had no love or care placed on it at all, and looked rather gray with no sear... a very disappointing experience. The server was friendly and efficient though.

Yelp
I had to make up my mom's belated birthday lunch, so I let her choose where she wanted to go. She lives in the city of Decatur, so she chose. The Marlay House on this blustery (but sunny) Saturday afternoon. Mom has been here before wanted comfort & apparently she craved fish & chips?! By the way, her birthday was OCTOBER, lol Tiny little parking lot & it is NOT a drive around. One way in & one way out, on an odd corner just down from the Post Office, at a traffic light. Walked in & wow! LOTS of that OLD, rustic, Irish Pub wood- chunky with the bar at center stage. I didn't feel comfortable taking pics b/c there was a solo guy eating at the bar & I didn't wanna be awkward. Anyway, sat down at a cozy booth/table set up on the far side from the entrance door. Very nice server gave menus (Sat is Brunch too) & got our drinks. I felt like a beer was worthy of such a joint & mom got wine. A VERY sweet server took care of us the rest of the visit- funny & attentive! She told us they have live music on (oh gosh did she say) Tues or a Thurs nights? Sorry.. I got a Cod Sandwich with Chips & mom got her Fish & Chips. Mine needed a little salt on the fish itself, but they have tarter, vinegar, ketchup & mustard if you need to juj it up. The chips actually tasted like potatoes, not greasy or over salted- really great!! I'll bring my hubby & children next time. I think they would enjoy. OK- that's all for now! I am very full & am on my sofa now stretching out. Enjoy your weekend!!!

Yelp
I am have driven past this place for years but never had the opportunity to dine here. The few times that we did consider going, we discovered a lack of parking at their dedicated lot and surrounding street parking already full, so we never actually had success to patronize the business. A client of mine lives near the restaurant and suggested that we arrive at 6pm for dinner on Thursday evening and this would give us the best opportunity to find parking onsite. We arrived at 5:50pm and secured one of the last parking spaces behind the building. It was a challenge parking my large SUV as well as departing when we finished our meal. If you are lucky enough to live nearby and walk, then this place is a gem. It's a charming building with covered terrace at the entrance plus indoor dining with decor that resembles the pubs in Ireland and the UK. My client and I had both spent a long day working indoors so we chose the terrace. The ceiling fans kept the temperature pleasant. The picnic tables are spacious, however my client is older and had some difficulty getting into the seat because the bench is attached closely to the table. Something to consider if you are dining with older people. The staff was super friendly and efficient from the moment we arrived until departure. I am pescatarian and found plenty of seafood as well as vegan and vegetarian options on the menu. I considered getting the brussel sprouts salad with the vegan chicken added as a protein, however the server highly recommended that I go with the smoked salmon instead. It was a great suggestion and I loved the complete meal. Every component of the salad was fresh and executed to perfection. It paired nicely with the blood orange ginger mule cocktail. My client had the D14 burger meal with the pimento cheese and proclaimed it excellent. She enjoyed her burger with the house Cabernet wine and found it delicious. Originally we both had planned to consume only half our meals and save the rest for later but we ended up eating everything! No room for dessert! During our visit it was trivia night and there's a separate tent set up adjacent to the covered terrace where we dined. The trivia event was a little loud at times but never bothersome. If you dine on a Thursday maybe use the indoor space or the terrace. Other than the parking challenge, we loved our dining experience here and look forward to going back to split the fish and chips meal and order a variety of the appetizers and beer. It's a great value for the money. We recommend this place!!

Yelp
Great fish and chips! I have driven by this place for years but it took a British friend to drag me in. Hilarious because I had no idea it was a proper Irish pub. As soon as you step across the threshold you know where you are, yumminess. Great fish and chips means fresh oil, thick tasty slices of fish, everything came out hot, and the fries weren't too greasy. I will be back.

Paco R.

Yelp
Good pub, good people, food is quite decent (but lacking enthusiasm IMO). Service is generally hit or miss. GM Michelle is a downer-- I literally turn around and walk out if I see that she's working, she puts the wait staff on edge. I find it hard to relax with such thick tension.

Joann M.

Yelp
A fairly new menu and ordered the falafel and lentil salad to go. The lentils were undercooked, hard A d inedible. The falafel patty was charred black a d aside from the small center portion, also inedible. Very disappointing. Where is the quality control in allowing such a poorly prepared dish to be served? Or since it was a to go order, did the cook think it didn't matter. JM - Decatur

Yelp
The outdoor fan blows smoke into the tent. Multiple smokers. Multiple times. This is a problem with non-smokers.

Yelp
Still a fabulous place to eat and hang out! They add on new items to their menu! And the food is amazing and excellent customer service!!

Yelp
We've been coming here for 6 years. Didn't realize I had never reviewed this place. Let's start by saying, it's a great Irish Pub. In 6 years, I've NEVER had bad food, drinks, and most importantly, service. I went off my usual fish and chips (which are stellar btw) and tried the caprese sandwich. I'm not a vegetarian but I do like dishes without meat sometimes. It was way more than I expected. The cibatta was crisp on the outside and tender and delicious on the inside. Fresh mozzarella, ripe tomatoes, basil, and balsamic vinaigrette. Served with their skin on lovely hand cut fries. Just fabulous. The hubby always gets the cottage pie. It also never disappoints. Try this place out. You'll be glad you did.

Yelp
Starting to go to Marlay House often. They have some great food and drinks. The atmosphere is just right. Some will probably disagree but the wings here have become my favorite wings ever! They're smoked on their green egg and have the perfect sauce/ crisp to them. On top of that their beer choices are perfect to pair with the wings. I have also tried the fish sandwhich and that didn't disappoint. And last but not least the service has been great everytime we have been.

Yelp
A real neat looking place inside. Excellent staff and mgt. 5 of us with a baby and they really took care of us. Two of us had the shepherd pie, which when I've had it before had a pastry top, but this was cream potatoes, which was excellent. Fries / blue cheese appetizer was excellent. Wife's salmon sandwich was OK. Son's fish/chips was excellent. A real treat and again, great waitress and staff.

Yelp
I've stopped in here a couple of times now, and every time the food has been fantastic. My friends have tried most of the food items on the menu and nothing has been found lacking. I normally (oddly) go there for the hand made chicken fingers, which without exaggeration are the best I've had since I lived in Nashville. I stopped by last on a weekday evening and there was a small group of musicians in the corner playing Irish and folk music. Great for the sound and feel of the place. Even on a Saturday midday, the service is fast, and everyone is friendly. Highly recommend.

Yelp
I have been to the Marlay House a few times and decided to check it out again recently. It was a Monday night and a little rainy but we still wanted to sit on the patio and the server still came out to serve us which I appreciated. We got the pretzel as a starter and it was good, a very classic pub pretzel. I got the fish and chips which I thought was good but could use a little less batter. I wish that the fish flavor was a little stronger but it was still good. The fries were so good! They are thicker fries but still crispy and taste great. It was also a huge portion and I could not finish all of it. We also tried the Brunswick stew and it wasn't the best Brunswick stew ever but it was okay, it had a very strong tomato taste and tasted a little like ketchup. Overall it was a good meal but having had some other things from them, I would probably go back and get a sandwich. I also prefer sitting outside because it is a nice patio and the inside looks a little dusty to me. Still, I would go back and try some other things.

Yelp
We found Marley house when searching for dog friendly restaurants. They allow dogs outside, which is a little close to the road (my dog was a little freaked) but otherwise very dog friendly. The menu has plenty for the vegetarian and general pub food. We ordered the dog a side of grilled chicken.. she was happy. The warm brussels salad was very good. French fries were awesome. Service was great!

Yelp
Great food, decent prices, and attentive staff. Awesome place to catch a match or hang with friends/fam.

Yelp
It was a beautiful day out and my boyfriend and I wanted to take our dog out to enjoy a nice meal. We decided to stop at Marlay House since we just recently moved to the area. Our server was so kind and accommodating for my pup. We asked for a side order of grilled chicken for Mira (my dog) and they happily brought it out to us. We started with the Chicken Curry Skewers, they smelled amazing but it lacked in curry flavor when eating it. I think they should be marinated longer so you get that true curry taste. For my main dish, I ordered fish and chips. Uhhh yum! The fish was so good, the breading was awesome, and the tartar sauce was the 'icing on the cake'. I'd happily return to try more dishes!

Lovely restaurant, always packet with fun people..the parking lot was busy little steep. I love the energy and excited to have gone during the world cup championship games.

Yelp
Solid choice. Great Irish bar with good food I was able took get a hamburger that was gluten-free and they had gluten-free beer. The staff was super cool too. I heard they have good music on fridays and I wish it was Friday now. Thanks for a good night.

Yelp
I used to love coming here. I used to come with my spouse frequently, sometimes more than once a week. To eat, to drink etc. I brought out of towners, was a faithful customer. However my last visit, I asked about swapping out sides. Server said that was fine. Bill reflected $7 up charge for the side dishes I ordered. Which cost the same on the menu as the original side dishes included with my entree. Make it make sense! I pointed it out to the server and his answer was that "it says there is a charge to switch sides on the menu." Apparently even if you're swapping sides that cost the exact same. Long story short a chicken meal ended up costing $27 which I'd expect at a high end restaurant, not a mediocre pub. I emailed the establishment before yelping. Over a month ago. I was ignored.

Yelp
Nice little pub in downtown Decatur. Parking was free, limited, and a little tight. The restaurant had plenty of outdoor and indoor seating and it was spooky-ly decorated for Halloween. We ordered the Goat Cheese Fritters --- this is what annoys me about appetizers that are served in odd numbers...you have to be selfless and give up the extra fritter to your spouse or test them to see if they have a generous heart. Or I guess you could just stare at the last piece for several minutes and see who will get it first. So yeah...it only came with 3 fritters and being the generous person I am...I gave it to my husband. I ordered the Warm Brussels Sprouts Salad and OMG I couldn't stop eating it. Just don't smile if you're on a date or with friends, because the dressing is half black pepper, half vinaigrette. I had so many black pepper flakes stuck in between my teeth at the end of my meal...it was so embarrassing. Good thing I'm married and my husband sees me without makeup...so black pepper teeth ain't the worst thing he's seen of me. My husband ordered the Shepherd's Pie and devoured it like it was his last meal. Our server was friendly and attentive. Definitely will come back to try if I'm in the area.

Yelp
Great Irish Pub atmosphere. Excellent selection of beers on draft. Friendly staff and regulars. Have been here many times and have enjoyed everything I've ordered- especially Shepherd's pie, fish and chips, and their veggie burger.

Yelp
Pretty good sized crowd even for a Tuesday evening. The Marlay House gives me London pub vibes and has a very welcoming atmosphere. There is both indoor and covered outdoor seating. The staff was quick, friendly and attentive. There house wine was perfect and they also had a large selection of cocktails and beers. The menu is not too large or small with plenty of great options. The food feels like a home cooked meal and tasted great. My boyfriend and I split the burger and shepherds pie because we really couldn't pick one thing. All in all it was a perfect night out and I'm happy we ending up trying this place out!

Yelp
In a city filled with stilted, packed bars and hangouts that often leave me wanting more, the Marlay is one of my go-to spots for friendly vibes, cold drinks, and good, simple food when in Decatur. I have been here a number of times for a simple beer or two, but decided to dig into their menu on my most recent visit. After being seated outside, we started with a tequila blood orange margarita for her and a Pimm's cup for me, which made for a refreshing start to our meal. Their beer selection is a surprisingly nice collection, and we followed up our cocktails with a couple of Irish harps. For snacks, we shared the chips smothered in malt vinegar, which are nothing short of astounding, and a pretzel, which was less so. I have had their red pepper hummus in the past, which is surprisingly excellent, and a must for future visits. I added on a hapenny salad, a basic but fresh mix of greens and vegetables, topped with crispy vegan chicken nuggets (one of Marlay's many vegan options) and an amazing bleu cheese dressing. While the food and drink is good, the real magic here is the ambiance. Both it's patio and gorgeously crafted, traditional wood British pub interior offer plenty of seating and a relaxed environment that invites you to while away the day there, unlike other imitation British pubs that border more on chain sports bars. The service is also surprisingly attentive, and I have always felt well cared for. In short, the Marlay is a neighborhood go-to, and one of my favorite spots for a casual drink in the area.

Yelp
After walking around, we were intrigued by the look of this place and decided to stop in for an afternoon beer What we ate: - Fries: we wanted something salty to go with our beers - Pretzel: This was perfect. The pretzel was fresh and warm and came with a nice cheesy sauce Pros: - Pretty classic Irish bar - Really extensive beer list, which I appreciated - Cute patio area. Great place to enjoy the nice weather - Building itself was very classic and traditional looking - Inside was pretty dark and plenty of wood, very much in the style of pub - Bathroom was clean - Server was friendly - Really nice place to just chill for a few hours with beer and snacks Cons: - None that I can think of Would I come again? Since I'm not a local, probably not.

Yelp
In the 4 times I've been to The Marlay House, I've never had a bad meal, and the service has been terrific. Really nice and comfortable patio.

Yelp
Last week, I had the *worst* fish and chips that I've ever had, and I think I've had fish and chips in at least five countries, including Iceland, Ireland and England--I am not an expert on fish and chips but, hey, I do have some experience. At The Marlay, I got two pieces of fish and they were both small pieces. The breading was greasy and over-cooked; there was nothing golden about them, and one was darn near black near the tail. The fish were pretty tasteless. The chips were very small (albeit a large portion), and greasy, overcooked, and low quality. I had to ask what the whitish stuff in the small bowl was (it was either weird tartar sauce or weird slaw; I forget.) I wasn't going to post a review but I ended up, because everything else near me was closed, at a Captain D's last night, and had their fish and chips. The contrast was so sharp that I decided to write this. At Captain D's, I got at least twice as much fish; it was cooked correctly; the fries were golden, not greasy and not tiny. In other words, for probably half the price, I got decent fish and chips. Not great, but decent - maybe a 6.5 on a 1 to 10 scale. The fish and chips at The Marley House rate about a 2 - and that would be generous. On the other hand, my wife likes their salads, and I once had a salmon sandwich on toast that would have been real good if the salmon was at room temp or a tad warmer. So, two stars.

Yelp
I was taken here for brunch while in Atlanta. This place seems like it's live in the evening and night time. The food was good I ordered fish and chips with a apple cider beer. We took a bunch of shots as well lol. Nice staff and a clean facility I'll def come back for a evening experience next time I'm in the area.

Yelp
Service from female bartender was great on St. Patrick's Day!! Food wasn't bad either.

Yelp
Took about 15 minutes for a waiter to come over. After we ordered, food took nearly an hour to come out even though it was a basic set of burger, chicken, and kid's noodles. Burger and chicken were decent. The kids meal was a disaster as the noodles were rock hard and our kid tried to eat it but couldn't.

Yelp
I met 2 friends on MLK Monday for a casual lunch and catch up. I live an hour north and one friend lives in E. Cobb. We were willing to come to Decatur to meet our DeKalb County friend and I'm so glad we did. The lunch was just what we needed to be refreshed and to catch up after our busy holidays. I loved the tomato basil soup and bread, and the staff was helpful and accommodating. I'd love to come again for some of the other menu items.

Yelp
I've been to the Marlay House many times and it is always a good experience. The food is good, the decor is cozy, the staff are friendly. Everything you would want in a decent pub in Decatur. Their parking lot is small. We parked at the post office next door (it's Sun. night). Tonight was nice and quiet, the day after St. Patrick's Day. It had that "post-celebration-exhausted-but-people-still-need-to-get-fed" feeling. In the parking lot were remnants of what might have been their St. Patty's Day celebration. Hope they had a great time. Tonight the staff seemed extra tired, and not terribly attentive. But they were still quite capable of hosting one more table full of folks. My party of three went for the brisket sandwich, the veggie burger and fish and chips. All of our dishes came with piles of those lovely brown chips that we doused in malt vinegar. I've had many things from their menu and have not been disappointed. I plan to go for it one day and just order the bread pudding instead of dinner. Blueberries! Heck, just go there and relax over some great grub.

Yelp
Love this place! They're very welcoming to families and the food has always been good. I love the vibe and when my family is in town they always ask to go here.

Yelp
The place has a cool pub atmosphere but the food was average and the service was a bit disorganized. Although I will say the fish and chips was pretty decent.

Yelp
If last's night's experience were an anomaly that I could attribute to it being the eve of a holiday, I'd blow it off. But it's become an ongoing and increasingly annoying issue with the Marlay. The issue? The place is often overrun with small children, and they aren't all just quietly minding their own little universes. It's like a Chuck E Cheese but with draft beer. The food is inconsistent too. In the last review update I raved about the wings. This time not so much, in fact far from it. Same story with the fish & chips. Which is a bummer. I like this place. I just prefer it as a neighborhood bar.

Yelp
I loved the location! Indoor and outdoor seating available right in the middle of Downtown Decatur. The menu is somewhat limited. My meal and the service was great!

Yelp
I really love this place. Not only do they have a great drink selection but the food is fantastic. It doesn't taste like typical bar or pub food. It tastes more like a home cooked meal (which is hard to find). I particularly love the pan roasted chicken. My fiancé loves their fish and chips. There is also plentiful outdoor seating so that we feel safe when we go and eat there.

Yelp
I dined here one night with my mom and we were seated right as we got there. I ordered salmon and my mom got the brisket i believe. the food was decent, nothing too over the top but was what was to be expected of a pub. The service was okay but waitress didn't seem to be too attentive. There is a parking lot right outside the restaurant so no worries about street parking. they had a nice patio if you wanted to sit outside.

Yelp
Céad Míle Fáilte! - "One hundred thousand welcomes!" This place is warm and inviting, Strong drinks and good food, the staff is very nice and helpful. I'd love to take advantage of the patio but will have to wait until it warms up some more outside. One of the nicer pubs in the Decatur area, I will be back again and again.

Yelp
I have not been here for a year, and went here last week because the wait at my first choices was more than an hour. Well, I am glad the wait at the other places was long, the Marlay was great! There was a good selection of beer that was longer than the British only beers I recall from my last time here. The food was really good too. I had the veggie pot pie, which was brimming with vegetables and a had a nice flakey crust. The mashed potatoes on the site I thought would be overkill, and it was a bit much, but they were so good that I might next time just get an order of those and some soup. Megan had the fish and chips and liked it, Betsy said the turkey burger was pretty good. If you are looking for a good beer selection in a cozy and quiet location with tasty food, give this a try.

Yelp
Marlay House consistently has good food, and a wealth of choices on the menu to suit the size of your appetite. The ambiance is good for conversations with friends without having to scream to be heard. It's your lucky day when bread pudding is on the menu!
