Marlene,

"A contemporary gastronomic restaurant adjoining the Zunzum Gastrobar, both of which occupy a completely glass-fronted building. A standout feature here is the large central kitchen, surrounded by a counter from where guests can watch the chefs at work. Innovative cuisine from Portugal and further afield, which is only available on two unique tasting menus." - Michelin Inspector

An unforgettable culinary experience! Seated around the kitchen, we enjoyed a beautifully crafted 9-course menu. Each dish was a true discovery, blending diverse inspirations with creativity. The intimate atmosphere and impeccable service made this romantic dinner even more magical. A must-visit address in Lisbon!

Since we got there the ambience felt nice. We were seated at the counter as requested and the experience to see the chef and her team work so well synchronized is just a mesmerizing and unique experience. The cocktails were not too sweet and with the correct amount of alcohol. On the other side, the sommelier made an excellent choice to choose a wine for us upon our taste. The 9 moments menu is more than enough and I could even say almost too much. The fish with mussel was amazing and the “transition dessert” (that’s how we called it) was perfect before the final apple crumble. We also had a chocolate box to take away❤️ the chef was welcoming and the staff very friendly. Need to visit before she obtains the ⭐️!!

We dined here last weekend and chose the 9-course It is a fusion of Japanese, French and Portuguese. The attention to detail in the service, the timing, the explanations of the dishes, the presentation, and of course the taste, are all excellent. Congratulations to the Portuguese female chef for winning the Michelin award.

A lot of potential - but still not there 😑. As a couple passionate about fine dining, we went to Marlene having pretty high culinary expectations. Restaurant Ambiente is pretty amazing- and so is the service. Friendly, well organized and clearly aiming to get the Michelin star. The food? It was okay. You can even say it was good. Quality is surely really good and you can see that a lot of great technique and effort is put inside. Tastes are very balanced and harmonious but with every dish - you are missing the wow moment you would expect from such a restaurant. Although one can not say Marlene is a bad restaurant - it surely doesn’t meet the expectations one has from such a fine dining place and there is a LOT of space for improvement. Nevertheless- thanks to the Team Marlene for a pleasant evening!

I was there (party of 3) on Feb 13. The food was very disappointing. This kind of dining experience calls for new, unexpected flavors. Marlene clearly follows that proposal but with very little skill for balance. Everything was either too rich, too intense, or too decadent. The most expensive ingredients tossed together in a manner that did not create an explosion of flavors, but rather a clash. My wife took even the time to send a private, more detailed review per email and to this date the restaurant hasn’t bothered to reply or say thanks. Given the response I got to this review and the lack of interest to listen to a customer that paid a bill of over 600 Euros, I have to even rethink the service rating. While at the restaurant everyone was attentive, the experience after was very disappointing.

Best meal of my life. The quality, thoughtfulness, and caliber of the dishes were impeccable. Mario and his team defined what Modern Portuguese cuisine means by letting traditional flavors speak for themselves but pairing them with the best international techniques and flavors. I've been to multiple Michelin-starred restaurants and this place beat them on every dimension - atmosphere, taste, and creativity. I was fortunate to speak to the Chef de Cuisine, Mario Cruz, and learn what inspires him and his process. What him and the owner, Marlene, landed on us truly special and I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone in town before they become famous. Suggest calling them for day of reservations and trying the wine pairing for the full menu - perfect compliments to the dishes.

Nestled in an enclave where culinary artistry meets sophistication, Marlene stands as a beacon of gastronomic excellence. From the moment one steps through its doors, the restaurant unfolds as a tableau of elegance, with an atmosphere that is both inviting and mesmerizing. The meticulously curated ambiance complements the high standards set by the establishment, ensuring that every detail, from the cutlery to the plates, aligns with the visual feast that greets the eyes. Service at Marlene is nothing short of impeccable. The staff’s attentiveness and professionalism contribute to the seamless experience, embodying the essence of hospitality. This level of care extends to the restaurant’s beverage offerings, where the non-alcoholic cocktails emerge as a highlight. Crafted with creativity and flair, these beverages offer a refreshing departure from the mundane, showcasing a blend of flavors that are both unique and invigorating. The culinary journey at Marlene is marked by an unwavering commitment to quality. The food, a testament to Chef Marlene Vieira’s passion and expertise, is prepared with the finest ingredients, each dish presented as a masterpiece of culinary art. The desserts, too, are commendable for their innovation and taste, rounding off the meal on a high note. However, when one ventures into the realm of high cuisine, especially at a price point of 450€ for two, the anticipation for a gastronomic revelation is palpable. It is here that Marlene, despite its many virtues, encounters its sole shortfall. The expectation of being whisked away on a culinary adventure of unexpected delights was met with a familiarity that belies the restaurant’s ambitious pursuit of a Michelin star. Chef Vieira’s aspirations are clear, and her potential to achieve this accolade is undeniable. Yet, the essence of taste, that crucial element that distinguishes the extraordinary from the merely excellent, seemed to tread familiar ground. In the pantheon of Michelin-starred establishments, there exists a disparity between those that truly astonish and those that merely meet the mark. While many achieve this prestigious recognition, only a select few transcend to deliver an experience that is both unforgettable and unparalleled. It is in this aspect that Marlene finds room for growth. In conclusion, Marlene earns a commendable 3/5. This rating reflects not a critique of what is, but rather a hopeful nudge towards what could be. The foundations for greatness are undeniably present: a stunning setting, exemplary service, and culinary skill of the highest order. What remains is for the taste to leap from the realms of the very good to the echelons of the truly extraordinary.

Mind-blowing, that's really the only word you can use, found it by coincidence, booked and had one of the great meals of the year or years. The core is classical ingredients done in innovative ways at the highest quality. Beautiful setting with a central workspace with counter around it and more tables all done with nice materials, well designed and the whole creates a calm almost zen like atmosphere that is also noticeably in the kitchen, no Ramsey here, but a well organized team, this also extends to the front end staff that matches the quality of the food and kitchen. The individual courses vary in ingredients but are connected by a vision, well balanced and full of flavour. This is the kind of meal that makes you want to visit Lisbon
