Marmo Restaurant & Wine Bar

Absolutely incredible food, every mouthful was perfect across all 4 dishes. Service was fantastic and daily special wine was a real treat. 4 stars purely because this restaurant adds a 12.5% discretionary service charge. No restaurant should do this, but especially this one. The steak tartare was £32, people are going to be willing to spend £35, just add it into the cost. A real shame as the service was excellent as well so worthy of a tip! Just not a discretionary one applied as standard that you have to ask to be removed.

Marmo maintains relentless culinary precision, but retains a convivial local spirit. It’s a tightrope few would tackle successfully, yet Marmo manages this marvellously. Their art laden walls and insurance vault history echo a detail focused approach to food. A short but ever changing seasonal menu never ceases to surprise. I feel lucky to have this place on my doorstep; I implore those further afield to make a journey to visit.

Having previously dined at Marmo a few months ago I was very much looking forward to a similar experience! On arrival it was lovely. We felt welcome and at ease. The restaurant is light and airy with a slight rustic edge. The lunch menu essentially consists of either 2 or 3 courses but the menu is extremely limited. As a vegetarian I had little choice except opting for a radicchio salad with pasta to follow. The salad was delicious, fresh and tasty. My friends ordered mussels in a nudja sauce but the portions sizes were absolutely minuscule, Around 10 mussels in a tiny ramekin. No complimentary bread. Certainly not a ‘course’ more of a nibble. My pasta was served and it honestly looked like a meal I would make for my children. Pasta pesto with grated Parmesan. It was so bland! No seasoning and really didn’t taste very nice at all. So surprising considering how simple it is to make fresh pesto. I was offered an alternative dish however I don’t eat meat and there were no other choices! I didn’t like the attitude of the waitress in fact she only aggravated the situation and made me feel incredibly uncomfortable! All of us left the restaurant hungry despite paying a bill of £300. There was also a £50 surcharge included. Total disgrace. We won’t be returning. There are some absolutely wonderful restaurants in Bristol serving exciting food at a fraction of the cost of Marmo. I do not recommend this restaurant.

Delicious food and excellent service! Been meaning to come here for the longest time! Seasonal dishes (both desserts had seasonal fruit - blood orange and rhubarb) quality of cooking exceptional - skate cooked to perfection. We also had a few other sharing plates. Good portion sizes. Dog friendly and provided water for us :) Would return and recommend!

Exceptional. A party of 5, we got to try everything on the menu. Every dish was flavoursome and prepared with passion and skill, there were no poor dishes. Service was excellent, unobtrusive but there when required and they demonstrated a thorough knowledge of the menu. Really great value. This restaurant deserves to be very successful.

I enjoyed a meal alone while working away in Bristol. It’s clear to see why they have such wonderful reviews; when they serve incredible quality ingredients prepared expertly to create a delicious dish. The menu is concise and seasonal, featuring a selection of small plates and not so small plates. The wine list is comprehensive and very reasonably priced. Service is extremely friendly - I can’t wait to come back again!

This beautiful restaurant is located in Bristol city centre. Inside, it's light and airy, with high ceilings, funky wall art, and appropriate spacing between tables. The menu is small, but all the things we tried were delicious. All the dishes were excellently presented, and were light but satisfying. Even after 3 course, you don't leave this restaurant feeling uncomfortably full, just satisfied. Desserts are probably the weakest part of the menu, so best to head somewhere else for that if you've got a very sweet tooth. The wine selection is also good, with a nice mix of varieties and prices. The staff are friendly, and service is prompt. This is a great place for lunch/dinner with friends.
