Have to say that this is truly excellent Korean food. You want to start with the vegetable pancakes as an appetizer, then enjoy the spicy pork. The kimchi and other dishes are amazing. The staff are super friendly, attentive and fast. You can’t go wrong with any of the dishes here. Please check it out!👍🏽

Very delicious Korean food! I ordered online for pick-up through their website! The estimate time was accurate! The staff was friendly when I picked up the order! Love their Spicy Glazed Chicken! Would like to try their soy sauce flavor next time! The Fried Chicken does not have much flavor though! Love their tofu soup (Soondubu Stew)!!! So yummy! I would say I am very satisfied! This is the first time I got authentic Korean food in Tracy ever since my family moved here last summer!!! Highly recommend it! Would definitely come back!!!

This was my first time eating at Maroo Korean BBQ, located in Tracy, CA. I ordered the Spicy Pork lunch meal with lemonade. I was pleasantly surprised when the waitress brought out 6 individual bowls; each came with a different sample proportion size entrées. 1) Kimchi, 2) Pickled Cucumbers, 3) Marinaded Bean Sprouts, 4) Marinaded Potato Chunks, 5) Sliced Fish Cakes, 6) Blanched Broccoli, and a small side of steamed rice. The rice and bean sprouts paired well with my spicy pork, and the other dishes complimented the main dish as mice appetizers. The lemonade was nice and sweet to round out the meal. The spicy pork was served on a hot plate that sizzled as if it was a plate of fajita meat. The flavor was very tasty to the point that I almost ordered a second one. Overall, the serving size was just enough when eaten with the side dishes. The atmosphere was nice and quiet, and the waitress was very friendly and attentive. She offered me complimentary refill of any of the side dishes that I wanted along with the refill on lemonade. I will definitely eat here again, and would recommend for anyone who likes Korean dishes to give Maroo a try.

Good restaurant, decent food in general, but slow service. We ordered soft tofu soup, seafood maroo noodle soup and Bulgogi. The tofu soup and bulgogi tasted great. The seafood one wasn’t tasting as we expected! They never brought us water or even asked to bring water, after we got our food we asked if we can have water! The staff are friendly and very nice!

Google
Three words to describe it: exquisite, homey, and positive vibes. Food: 4/5 For someone coming from the Bay Area, I was actually quite thrown off by how delicious this place was. We got the seafood pancake, the ramyun with cheese and seafood, along with the assorted vegetables. While the ramen was quite seasoned and stuff, I wished they used mozzarella cheese instead of American cheese to add a little more flavor to it. The assorted dishes were also kinda small in portion, and the kimchi wasn’t really sour — it had a little bit too much gochujang powder residue left in there. Overall good food — just one star off for the blandness. Service: 5/5 Loved the service — we were served right away and the waiters gave us time and gave really good recommendations :) Atmosphere: 4/5 I loved how warm it was inside — it was honestly a little tight but I don’t blame them as the mall itself is also quite small too. Overall, I’d come back here again 🥰🥳

Google
One of my first times to a Korean restaurant. The food was quite good and the service was very friendly and helpful. I would think it’s a good sign that almost all the customers that came to the restaurant while we were there were Korean. I had the Maroo noodle bowl which like a mix between Raman and egg drop soup. My wife had the bibimbop. She liked it but didn’t know it came cold. We want to go back and try other foods on the menu. They just opened (or reopened ) a week ago.

Google
We got two beef and seafood tuna soups, side dishes, sides of rice, and a peach sangria. The side dishes were packed with flavor. The beef and seafood tuna soup could have used a little more flavor and maybe a few more pieces of beef. The sangria was delicious! The staff were friends and provided quick service. You're able to ask for more of the side dishes if you're sharing with a group. The place is clean.

Yelp
We stopped in for lunch at Maroo on a Saturday around noon. It was totally empty when we arrived, but by the time we left it had filled up, which is always a good sign. We started with the Soy Glazed Chicken and the Beef Mandoo--both were excellent. The chicken was perfectly fried and had a flavorful glaze that wasn't too sweet or overpowering. The mandoo were crispy and tasted super fresh. They brought out rice and a nice variety of banchan after we ordered, and all the side dishes were really tasty. For mains, I got the Galbi soup which had a rich, flavorful broth and plenty of beef and veggies. My wife got the Soondubu stew which came bubbling hot with an egg to mix in. The flavor was good, but it had a bit too much tofu and not quite enough broth, so the balance felt a little off. Overall though, it was a really good lunch, and we'll definitely be back. They automatically add the tip, but the service was friendly and attentive, so no complaints there.

Yelp
This was the first Korean spot we tried in Tracy, and it was a great experience overall. The drive from Modesto wasn't bad at all, and it was well worth it. The service was warm and friendly, and the food really hit the spot. The spicy pork paired perfectly with the purple rice flavorful and satisfying. The spicy beef soup had a bold kick and deep flavor, and the seafood pancake was crispy, savory, and delicious. Everything was served fresh, and the beer came out cold just the way it should be. The place is on the smaller side, but it's clean and well-kept, making for a comfortable dining experience. Heads-up: All dine-in orders are automatically charged a service fee 15% for parties under 5 and 18% for groups of 6 or more. Definitely worth checking out if you're in or around Tracy and craving some solid Korean food.

Yelp
Marooooo, what it do! As one of the few / only Korean spots out here in Tracy, I am happy to say that they can deliver good Korean food. It's also owned by a lovely couple and has a friendly atmosphere due to that familial aspect! Due to that, I would make sure to check their hours on Yelp because sometimes they close at a max a week whenever they go to Korea / out of town and Apple Maps does not update that LOL. There's a few restaurants next to it like Kengo Sushi and a pho spot, but I only really go in this area when I want Korean food and don't feel like traveling to the bay. Although their menu is a bit more on the limited side, they have the classic options you'd usually see at a Korean restaurant that gets the craving done. For example, they have their spicy tofu stew (soondubo jjiggae) and bibimbap (rice bowls with meat & veggies offered on your choice of hot stone or cold). Good appetizer choices like Seafood pancake, chicken wings, and mandu. They don't have the grills like typical kbbq spots, but offer these cooked meats on a sizzling grill plate that comes with rice at no extra charge. Lunch is cheaper by like $10, so I'd recommend getting their Galbi or Pork Belly at this time rather than dinner. Love their banchan. I'm a huge fan of the sweet braised potato side dish, so I'm happy they have this! They will also gladly refill any of these options if you ask. Their seafood pancake is perfectly crispy / flakey and a good size to share between 3-4 people. Flavor is great. Got their Galbi at the lunch price of $22, which always hits. Good amount of meat given and you can tell that meat was #marinatedandgrilled. Easy to chew as well. Also a fan of purple rice so that's a plus. Overall, solid Korean spot. It's not the BEST I've had and their prices can be a bit steep at dinner. A bit more on the limited side when it comes to menu choices, but it's definitely good. I'm just glad it's a place my family and I can rely on whenever we want Korean food.

Yelp
Really great quality food, clean restaurant and our waiter on on top of it. Highly recommend! We had Cheese Tonkatsu, the beef pot sticker things (forgot the name), Hot pot Bimibop.

Yelp
What a gem of a restaurant! Everything we ordered was so yummy. The bulgolgi, soy glazed chicken wings, soondubu stew, and spicy calamari were all delicious!

Andrea A.

Yelp
Ate here for lunch today and the food and service was 10/10 would recommend. We ordered the Galbi, fried chicken, and the Bibimbap which were all very delicious. The service was also very good. Would definitely recommend.

Yelp
Okay, Tracy, I see you! This place is not bad at all! We tried a few of their popular dishes, and I must say, everything tasted amazing! First, we had Japchae, one of my favorite noodles. It was delicious, and I definitely recommend ordering it. My husband ordered Bibimbap, and he said it was tasty as well. The Korean pancakes were so yummy! Big kid and husband shared one of their bbq and they were impressed! The service was great--attentive and friendly. We will definitely be returning again. The place is clean and such a charming establishment.

Yelp
Good Korean food in the Tracy area. We enjoyed their galbi, bulgogi, kimchi pancake, banchan, and barley tea. Service is friendly and attentive.

Yelp
I've been interested in eating at Maroo foc a while. I was hesitant to go because almost all of my Korean dining experiences have been as part of a group. It popped in my mind earlier today and lingered. So, to Maroo I went. The one couple who was there left shortly after I was seated, so I had the place to myself. After waffling between the Bulgogi and the pork belly, I settled on the pork belly. It arrived sizzling and spitting. The pile of bacony deliciousness was cooked with onions and garnished with more cooked onion and jalapeno. The accompanying sauce was served on the side along with rice and six. Little bowls of condiments. Honestly, the condiments are my favorite part. If you avoid the kimchi and the jalapeños, you can have a spice-free meal. I did not. In fact, if I could have had the spicy pork, I would have. A friend would have been nice because I really wanted to try the pancake. My lunch was already verging on too much food, so it wasn't to be. I had Sprite, but the Korean sodas looked intriguing. I already have ideas for next time. Everything was delicious and my server was terrific. She was attentive but didn't hover. I gave her an extra tip. Something to note, tips are automatically included. So, if you are a cheap bastard, suck it up or don't eat here. Recommended.

Yelp
This is a great Tracy find! I don't often stop here but meeting a friend for dinner and I was a big fan of this spot. They opened at 5pm we were about the 3rd group in on a Friday night - the spot filled up pretty fast, the restaurant itself isn't too large so be prepared to wait if you're going during prime dinner time. Ordered the strawberry soju, a little too artificial flavor for me but cute glasses and did the job. We got the seafood pancake, ordered the spicy rice cakes because I LOVE tteokbokki but he misheard and gave us spicy fried chicken - which no regrets, it was great. I got the galbi plate, brother got the bulgogi and friend got the tofu soup. Pancake was huge and flavorful, would've liked more dipping sauce. Banchans were also on the lighter side in amount. Otherwise will definitely keep this spot in mind next time I'm in Tracy!

Yelp
Came here for lunch and was craving japche and the side fixing I ordered over the phone and pick up in 25mins, small little restaurant ample parking I was greeted and taken care of and waited a lil longer to get my food they pack me up some extra sides, the noodles were nice and bouncy but I felt like it was missing something almost a 5 star tho.

Yelp
Be warned that tip is already included in the bill. It came as a surprise because it wasn't written anywhere. Before you say abything, I dined by myself and was planning to leave cash tip as I always do but when I got the bill, they already charged 18% Food is good but I won't be back because of this. The place is in a plaza so there's plenty of parking

Yelp
Being one of the few Korean restaurants in Tracy, Maroo actually serves great food! The dishes here are tasty, and the restaurant gives this warm, welcoming vibe to it. The service here is good, and the staff are friendly.

Yelp
I've been to this place many times, especially in the colder weather when I just wanted their tofu soup. It sure hit the spot. They got pretty good menu for the place with different options. The best part of the meal is their free side dishes they brought out to you before your food arrive. My favorite is spicy rice cakes. Their tofu stew is very comforting and delicious. Their korean bbq options is good too. This is the place you don't need to worry about bbq smell sticking on your clothes since they already came out cooked. The place is run by korean ladies and that's how you know it's pretty authentic. Will come back again for more comfort korean food

Yelp
I visited Maroo Korean BBQ and Catering on Saturday, 01/13/24, around noon for lunch. On my visit, I tried the Vegetable Pancake, Bulgogi, and Spicy Beef Soup. The pancake was savory and tasty. The soup was decent in flavor. The Bulgogi was packed with deliciousness. Along with these dishes, the restaurant served multiple side dishes. The purple rice, cucumbers, broccoli, etc. were all good. The service was friendly. However, I constantly had to stop the server for water refills, napkins, etc. In essence, there was a huge lack of attentiveness. For the restaurant to automatically charge 15% for a tip (I was aware that it was posted throughout the restaurant), the service still did not match that. I should not have to flag down the server frequently as a customer. Even though I liked the food at Maroo, I'm not sure if I'd return due to the lackluster service. I do not favor being charged a tip if the service is going to be below standards.

Yelp
Ordered Shrimp Tempura, La Galbi and a Seafood Pancake. The pancake was a bit greasy and should cost less than $16. Tempura was good. I enjoyed the Galbi but the portion was a bit small for $22. Could do with a bit more banchan. Soda was overpriced at $3.00. At $65 + tip, so well over $70 total, it was just too expensive for what you get.

Yelp
The service is ALWAYS great! They're very nice and the food is excellent. I always order the Doenjang (Korean Miso Soup) and hubby goes between the Vegetables Pancake/Mandu and Bulgogi/ Bibimbap. Today.... He decided on Vegetable Pancake and dinner portion Bulgogi.
google avatar

Blane F.

Yelp
Really good Korean food. Great service by the host and waiter. The soy garlic chicken wings are some of the best I have ever tried. Gali was killer too.

Cori D.

Yelp
Food was good but expensive. They also charge you an automatic 15% gratuity for under 5 people and more for 6 or more. We received our food and side dishes and a small cockroach crawled out of the bean sprouts!

Yelp
3.5 stars rounded up to 4 because for the area where Asian food options can be bleak, it's pretty good. I came here on a Saturday afternoon for lunch with my boyfriend and we ordered the seafood pancake as a starter, I had the ramen as my main, and my boyfriend had the bibimbap. The side dishes were great and so was the seafood pancake; it's difficult to get just the right ratio of the pancake mix versus the veggie/seafood toppings. My boyfriend enjoyed his main, but unfortunately the same could not be said for me. Looking at the ramen that was served to me, it was clear that I could have made this ramen at home. I could not believe that they believe that this is restaurant quality ramen, like sell this to customers to make a profit quality ramen. It was not. I should have just ordered a tofu soup or literally anything else. Though, we did also get a bulgogi meal to-go as an add-on dish to our dinner later in the day, and this was excellent! The restaurant was also kind enough to pack us side dishes in a nicely packed take out box as well, which we also enjoyed. Overall, I would definitely come back to eat here when in Tracy. Service was quick and friendly, prices are reasonable, and the food is pretty good.

Yelp
Buffet Man Sez: Authentic Korean food... best in the area hands down. Reasonably priced and great service too. Repeat for sure!!!

Yelp
Used to love coming to this place, and I started placing to-go orders once we had kids. That is where I stopped being a fan. On Friday, I ordered two soups that were in completely different sized containers, when we've ordered these before and they came in the same sized containers. I paid $3 extra for beef in one of the soups, for a portion not even of one regular serving. I bought two soups, and received one side of banchan. It seems every to-go order I've placed comes with less and less each time. I've unfortunately experienced this too many times, but this is the last time I'll ever order from this place. With rising costs and tough economy, I've wanted support this restaurant, but Maroo clearly does not value its regular customers. I've previously called the restaurant to complain about meat missing in my soup, which I had to drive back to have replaced, and complained about the portions not being the same in my to-go order as it was in-person. I want to support a Korean-owned small business as I come from a hospitality background and am also Korean, but I'll never order here again.

Donnie W.

Yelp
This is simply one of the best places in the entire bay area for authentic Korean food. It actually puts a lot of other so called good Korean restaurants like horribly overpriced Baekjeong to shame. Take for example just a few of their dishes: Their seafood pancake is the best version available within several hundred miles including all K spots in Sunnyvale, San Jose and even LA. It's perfectly crispy, seasoned, fresh and filled with great seafood bits. It has real texture to it and I can't find a better version anywhere on NorCal. Their sundubu is also the very best version with such complex layering of flavor and perfect tofu texture unlike the watery tepid or boiling spice pot versions that pretty much every other place attempts to make and fails miserably at. I can go on and on about their perfectly grilled mackerel, flavorful spicy calamari stir fry but the most amazing attention to detail has to be their banchan side dishes. I feel you can tell the overall quality of a Korean restaurant based in the quality of their side dishes and theirs are second to none. I am pretty sure I could just have rice and their banchan and he completely satisfied, it's that good. You may have noticed I have not said anything about their meats and the reason for that is while it is amazing and perfectly in line with any top tier kbbq you can get decent meats at most places because it's the hardest thing to mess up as long as the place uses high quality meat which of course they do. It really is the quality and consistency of every one of their dishes from top to bottom that will make you want to come back everytime you crave some real Korean food. Check out the best and dump the rest as you will permanently make a a side trip out to Tracy a regular occurrence because it's that good!

Henry H.

Yelp
The service has gone down hill, AND they charge you an automatic 15% gratuity no matter the size of your party (it was just me and my lady). No refill, no checking up, nothing...but you get the tip regardless. I've NEVER seen a business do this to a 2 person party lol. Talk about entitled restaurant management , and this is family owned. DO NOT EAT HERE. They are using some real greedy business practices! Makes me wonder about the poor quality of food they serve there customers to turn a larger profit.
google avatar

Yelp
Thanks to all the Yelpers whose reviews led me to this Korean restaurant! And I am SO thankful to have a Korean spot here in Tracy that serves delicious food!! We ordered: Jap Chae (glass noodles) Bi Bim Bop with beef (rice, vegetables, beef, egg that you mix with the go ji Chung spicy sauce)--I can't wait to go in and eat the Dol Sot Bi Bim Bop which is the clay pot version which adds a nice crisp to the rice Soup with rice dumplings- first time having this Korean dish and it was very good and filling! DEFINITELY adding this one to our roster!! Vegetable pancake Spicy chicken Glazed chicken They also include Ban Chan (mini dishes): Potato Kimchee Cucumber kimchee Spicy fish cake Bean sprouts Broccoli I was VERY happy they didn't have a mayo based ban Chan since I don't like mayo, and it seems like the others in the Bay Area have been including this like the one in Danville I'm already looking forward to eating here again!

Yelp
Wonderful Korean food. Dolsot "Hot-stone" bibimbap is my go to for a meal in a bowl. The Japchae is also wonderful.
google avatar

Yelp
Good menu items, but nothing compared to dining in Seoul and Jeju. Our grandson's favorite is their cheese ramyeon. Warm reception and prompt service. Nothing fancy in the restaurant but good for our family dinner.
google avatar

Briana V.

Yelp
Food was very delicious. I really enjoyed the japchae. I wish the pork belly was a little thick and had a dipping sauce to go with it. Prices are a tad bit high but The service was great and fast. Our server was very friendly and had awesome customer service. I would def. Return and try other things on the menu.
google avatar

Tram N.

Yelp
This is our go-to kbbq spot! Our usual order is the galbi ribs, pork belly, vegetable pancake, and Kim chi tofu stew. We love the servers at Maroo, super friendly and never gets angry when we ask for more ban chan. :) Food is amazing here, you will not be disappointed! A rare gem in this area for sure.
google avatar

Tia T.

Yelp
The best korean food in the area! It's definitely a solid choice, but not quite up to par compared to Korean restaurants in the bay area. But if you have an itch for Korean food, this will definitely satisfy your craving. This seems like a family owned and run restaurant. They are a bit slow to get the food out, but the waiters are polite and nice, so I don't mind it too much. Some of my favorites are the vegetable pancake, soy glazed fried chicken, stone pot bibimbap, and tofu soup. Their food is consistent and has good flavor. My fiance likes the spicy beef soup, but it's too hot for me! Most recently we ordered the pork tonkatsu. It's the only item on the menu I'd recommend skipping as it was dry and chewy. If you haven't been, I would recommend stopping by to try some of their dishes. You won't regret it!
google avatar

Dayna R.

Yelp
My dad was at Sutter Tracy and my sister and I found this gem. My sister had Buligogi and I had bibimbap. We shared an app which was crispy chicken. The free homemade pickled veg and sides were amazing. Kimchi was an A. Service was perfect. Clean, nice atmosphere. Korean pop played. It was fun. Price was reasonable.

Tiffany Tuyet V.

Yelp
The food is good. I would say nothing more special than other Korean dinings I've been to. However, the best thing is they always tried to accommodate us, a big family (17-24 people each time coming) every time we called to reserve tables. It's not easy to accommodate such a big party, especially during weekends. Thank you so much!
google avatar

Maria A.

Yelp
Love the purple rice the food is good, nice atmosphere. My daughter's favorite place that is close by for Korean food.

Yelp
Hands down my new favorite spot in town. Food is absolutely delicious and authentic. It was my first time here so I ordered so much and every single item was absolutely fire! So much yummy flavor and the presentation was beautiful. Restaurant was a good size and was very clean, servers were so helpful and very attentive. Good came out fairly quickly too! 100% would recommend, so happy I found this place!

Yelp
The best Korean restaurant I've ever been to! Food was tasty and flavorful. The servers were kind and always on top of it. It was worth every penny

Yelp
Obsessed with this place when in tracy! We come here for lunch often and sometimes dinner and get the same order every single time. Spicy glazed chicken (which i eat with rice) and their dinner portion bulgogi and spicy pork! Staff is always so nice and catering. The food is consistently really good! honestly the only go to korean spot in tracy! They get pretty busy for dinner and on weekends so plan ahead! But they definitely do their best to make sure you're not waiting too long! (you can also snack on all the sides they give you while you wait! they're always so willing to give you more of it too!)
google avatar

Diana A.

Yelp
Friendly staffs. 1st pick for my eat-out. BBQ Ribs, Seafood Pancake, Korean Kimchi Fried Fries, Beef Tofu Soup, Lemonade, Klouds are favorite items. Usually crowded when weekend lunch or dinner, but worth to wait.

Yelp
Although they don't have a grill, but the food is amazing the restaurant is clean and the staff are really nice and friendly. I came back and took my friend . And will come back again. It's a 40 minute drive but it's worth it.

Yelp
The food was tasty, we liked the short ribs and the bibimpap. My friend liked her grilled mackerel, she said it was tasty. The customer service was great! The place was small but clean.

Yelp
Maroo is seriously a hometown gem! My family has frequented this restaurant since they first opened in Tracy's few years ago. Here's a list of our go-to's: Galbi: This marinated short rib comes steaming hot on a sizzling hot plate with sliced onions. The marinade is sweet and savory, and the beef is always so tender! Sometimes we order two of these just because it's that good. B&S (Beef and Seafood) Combo Tofu Soup: This dish is packed with silken tofu, thin slices of beef, assorted seafood, diced cucumber, and sliced mushrooms. It comes sizzling hot with an egg that you can crack straight into your boiling pot. This always hits the spot on a cold night! And I feel lowkey healthy when I eat it lol. Japchae: Silky glass noodles topped with slices of beef, fish cake, and assorted veggies. The noodles are savory and subtly sweet, dressed in some kind of mix of sesame oil, dark soy sauce, and sugar. This is a classic that Maroo consistently does right. Vegetable pancake: All of the pancakes are good, but this is my personal favorite because I'm tricking myself into eating healthy lol. This comes out crispy on the outside and soft and packed with veggies on the inside. Fried rice: Asian fried rices are always a hit, and Maroo's is no exception. The banchan is also amazing! They can add crunch, heat, umami, or sweetness to every bite. Mix and match them with your main dishes, and wash it all down with a hot barley tea, to see what hits your palette best! I'm so happy a restaurant like this exists in Tracy, and my family and I definitely don't take them for granted. We've always had great service and excellent food. Looking forward to our next dinner there!

Maroo is one of my favorite Korean restaurants I've tried. They gave large portions, even for the meat dishes. I ordered the ramen which had a really flavorful broth. I ordered it with medium spice and it still had a really good kick to it! The noodles weren't hand pulled but they give a huge bowl for only $11 so I think it's worth it. Other people in my group got the meat dishes which came out sizzling and tasted great. They also have soju too!

Yelp
Great food and service! We got the bagulgi, and hot stone bibimbap soju cocktail and kloud beer.

Yelp
LOVED IT! Food was amazing. The soy garlic wings were waaaay above my expectations. I also got the galbi which was bomb and my husband got the bibimbap which looked superb. Service was fast and efficient. I'll definitely come here over and over and over again.

Yelp
Excellent food with good service. My yardstick gives them 5 stars as more than half the folks eating were Korean.

Yelp
Stopped by this place on our way back to LA from San Francisco. Surprisingly authentic. Both the Spicy Beef Soup with Glass Noodles and the Stone Pot Bibimbap are pretty good. All the employees seem to be Koreans.

Yelp
I called to make sure they'd be able to accommodate a table for 12 and have appetizers ready for us. Service was very friendly and the workers worked efficiently even though they were clearly swamped. The food was pretty good overall. I appreciate how nice they were having to deal with such a large group of people on top of having other groups. There was too much going on for me to capture all the photos so I just snapped my food however they make yummy tteokboki and haemul pajeon here. The short ribs were also delicious albeit pricey!
