I would liken the ghetto Mexican eateries in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex to picking any song off of a NOW! album. They are most of the time tolerable, there are some that just strike you as irresistible, and a handful that are just go-to spots--ones that you never turn away from, regardless of how crappy the quality is.
Marquez Bakery and Tortilla Factory falls into the category of irresistible. Not in the same sphere of being absolutely awesome, if purely for gaudy and outrageous reasons. Here, these aspects revolve around cheese, minimal pricing, and lots of sass and spice. Just like those hits that you want to belt on road trips. Here, they actually make hilariously humorous t-shirts and give some kicked-up salsa.
I went with the Mega Nachos, and how in the world can you not eat something that has the word Mega in it or resist anything in existence so called "mega"? Songs, included. This mound of fat on carbohydrates on fats adorned with fat and carbohydrates finished with fat and protein boasted a pound of cheese, a crazy amount of legumes, many pickled jalapeno medallions, a whooping scoop o' mashed avocado mixed with tomato, and much ground beef and sour cream. Oh and chopped tomato.
MBTF (sounds like some vulgar, extremely crude acronym for something) is one top-notch Mexican joints in an area of the US so saturated with mediocrity in the way of Tex-Mex grub. Nothing is super authentic, but how can you go wrong with a days worth of calories for $7?
