Tried a lot of Moroccan dishes including Chicken Pastilla, Marrakech Harira, lamb couscous, lamb chops and Tea kettle Moroccan mint tea. I liked the chicken Pastilla, Harira and rice of the couscous the most. The tea was refreshing. The Harira is like dal/lentils of indian dishes. The interior is pretty good too. However, the items were overpriced in my opinion. In short, a very good place to try authentic Moroccan dishes. Their cuisine is a little bit less spicy and sweeter. If you prefer more spicy foods then you may not like it. The staff was very friendly and his behavior was very decent.

Marrakech is a true neighborhood gem! It’s a family-owned restaurant with awesome friendly service. We’ve tried almost everything on the menu and it all tastes so flavorful and authentic. Favorites include the chicken pastilla that has the most unique flavors and the lamb tagines (also amazing). We will continue coming back for more!

Our party of three had no trouble being seated when we arrived early on a Friday evening. As one of us was a foodie from out of town, we chose this place because of its exceptional food. We know because we ate here last year. This is a local, family owned restaurant serving authentic Moroccan cuisine. You don't need to know what differentiates Moroccan cuisine from other types, you just need to walk in, sit down and ask for recommendations. Everything was flavorful, delicious and filling from the appetizers to the salads to the entrees. Pricing was reasonable and the evening well worth the trip. I highly recommend this place, it is a hidden gem.

We really enjoyed our dinner at this place! The host was nice, the food was authentic and delicious. Good portions, I really enjoyed the tajine and the couscous. The tea was fantastic. I will definitely order again from this place! Highly recommended!!

Judging from all the good reviews, I'm hoping that they were just having an off-day when I went. I was between 3 and 4 stars, but gave it a 4 as I'd still be willing to give it another try in the future. Food I tried: - Marrakech Deal Appetizer (Zalook, Taktouka, Carrots Ala Chermoula, and Bakoula) (4.4/5): This was among my favorite dishes from what we ordered. I especially liked the zalook (smokey, charred eggplant flavors), bakoula, and taktouka salads. - Moroccan mint tea kettle (4/5): The mint tea was pretty good. We asked for sugar on the side but they put it in, which was not a big deal. It's pricey for the serving though-- just 2 small glasses each for $10. - Marrakech in Tagine (3.5/5): I was kind of confused here because the dish didn't come with any of the ingredients listed on the menu (i.e. the tomatoes, olives, etc.) except for the fries and lamb shank. Although the fries were very tasty and crispy, the other veggies were sorely needed to balance out the flavors and textures which eventually got too dry / salty. The lamb was very tender with the meat falling off the bone, but overall, its flavor was mild and I wish it were more flavorful. - Harira Soup (3/5): This was a super small soup for $8, which felt overpriced. It tasted just okay, and quite bland overall. -- Price (relative to peers): 3.7/5 Food: 3.7/5 Ambience: 4.6/5 Service: 4.2/5 Overall Value: 3.8/5

Authentic Moroccan restaurant in West town - the ambience is simple but lots of Moroccan decoration and the music makes you feel you left Chicago and entered Marrakech. The food is delicious, great blend of spices, tagine is a hit, eggplant in tomato sauce was our favorite from starters, hummus was delicious and tasty. The service was a bit slow and the waiter never checked on us after we started our meal if everything was ok and if we needed more water. Only 3 tables were occupied hence we would expect a bit more hospitality. It is BYOB, Moroccan tea with mint is very good.

Try the cous cous! And the mint tea. Generous portions, authentic food and atmosphere. Adam took great care of our group of 16.

Delicious, a must try in west town. Would def be coming back. Def a bit pricey but it’s also a big quantity of food. My dish could easily feed two people. (My dish is the chicken couscous)

First of all, the service was top notch. It's a relatively smaller place and there was 1 waiter and younger assistant, who seemed to be in training. The place was mostly empty for 8pm on a weekday so everything was fairly quick. I started with the small hummus, which was tasty but I believe needed a little more citrus but the quality and presentation was great. It was served with fresh made pita bread, which was perfect! For my entree I got the chicken kebab. It was served with vegetables and either rice or couscous. I chose rice, which was pretty standard. The worst part of the meal were the veggies. I think it was just a bag of frozen mixed veggies. They lacked any seasoning and the peas were tough while the rest of the vegetables were soggy. The chicken kebab itself was well seasoned, perfectly cooked and absolutely delicious! It was served with 2 sauces, a red and white. The red had a bit of a spicy kick and the white tasted like a garlicky yogurt sauce. Both sauces were amazing! Overall, I think the pricing was a tad high for the quality of food but the meal was enjoyable.

Had the best experience at Marrakech! The mint tea reminded me so much of the tea in Morocco - so authentic! The food was delicious and good portion sizes. And the service was great. A lovely family run business that I can't wait to visit again!

Wow! This family run place is delicious! We live in the area and have wanting to stop by and try. The space is cute on the inside. The service was chill and our server was super nice! These were the FRESHEST dolma I have ever had. So good. The roasted red pepper dip was really flavorful. We had the soup and wowsers! The flavor! It tasted fresh, homemade and authentic. Give this joint a try! It was so delish!

moroccan lamb tagine and seafood pastilla at marrakech! lamb shank was incredibly tender and flavorful - we definitely mopped up every bit of sauce with the pita bread the seafood pastilla was unexpectedly delicious - fish, shrimp and vermicelli filling wrapped inside flaky phyllo pastry, what could go wrong?

Quality. A few highlights include the chicken pastille and the baba ganoush. Fantastic cous cous as well. Tangines are authentic but, you know, tangines themselves aren't that compelling. The tangines are also quite modestly sized. So, the tangines are a cool choice for sentimental reasons but maybe once is enough. Not too crowded even on a Friday night.

Marrakech is a nice spot and definitely hits the spot when you're looking for warm, comforting Moroccan food. Ambiance was O.K. I think some extra throw pillows and lamps could make a world of difference. We tried the Dolmas (stuffed grape leaves), The Marrakech Deal, Lamb Couscous and Mint Tea. There wasn't anything I didn't like. The lamb was falling apart and very tender. The sampler dips (Marrakech Deal) is a must in my opinion because it was almost impossible to choose between all the options (and they were all delicious). The server was really nice! However, it did seem to take a little while to get simple things like extra pita or our first course despite it not being too busy. Overall, this is a great spot and I would definitely recommend anyone to try Marrakech out.

Incredible restaurant. They don't seem to serve alcohol but that's okay. Food was so fresh and soooooo good. Lots of cinnamon spices. Yum.

I've been wanting to eat here since I moved to the area and it did not disappoint. It was a little dead inside the day before the 4th of July but the food was absolutely outstanding. Mohammad and his family were so welcoming and giving our friends recommendations in Morocco. Cannot wait to come back

My go to Restaurant to enjoy the Moroccan cuisine. Food was delicious,authentic and made with love. Cozy atmosphere that reminds me of Morocco. Owned and Managed by a very beautiful Moroccan Family. Service was extremely good thanks to Adam for his hospitality and energy.

I googled Moroccan restaurants in Chicago and this Resteraunt came up. We were able to get reservations the same day. I have to say that it is extremely rare to find Moroccan restaurants that have authentic Moroccans actually cooking because the food is so hard to make and so time consuming. The harrira soup tasted like my grandmothers, the lamb couscous was so fresh and to die for and the mixed salad platter was heavenly but the bread and the Moroccan mint tea were the most delicious and they even brought out complimentary dessert. I wouldn't recommend any other Moroccan restaurant than Marakesh I'm Chicago and I cannot wait to visit Chicago to come back. FYI the business is a husband wife and son and they are so kind and hospitable. Please support small business.

Delicious food. Friendly service. BYOB with a $5 per person who is participating. Family owned restaurant. We had falafel, mix plate of their appetizers and lamb dish. Everything was tasty and flavourful. Definitely order the tea for the full experience.

IF YOU HAVEN'T BEEN TO MARRAKECH YET WHAT'RE YOU DOING!!! I've only had two "5-star-hyper-fixation-recommend-it-to-everyone-I-meet" restaurants of 2022 and this is one of them. I've literally never had moroccan food before this but somehow it made me really nostalgic in a ratatouille kind of way. Something about the couscous and caramelized veggies and stewed meat is just homey and cozy and exactly what you want with the upcoming winter. It's so perfectly comforting without being too heavy and you don't feel gross afterwards. Also, the restaurant is obviously a mom and pop and the owners are so kind and caring. Overall 5.0/5.0 can't wait to eat so much of this this coming winter.

This place is so great. This is just as good as Moroccan food I've had in Morocco or Paris. This place is run by a lovely family whose mother is the cook. We had the appetizer sampler, a tagine, and a couscous. Meat on all the dishes is incredibly soft and falls off the bone. The tagine sauce was so good - one of the best things I've ever had. Couscous has large savory vegetables including squash and was finished with a sweet sauce containing apricots and rasins. I'm already thinking about what to order next time.

I'm not impressed with this spot, though it's still nice to have a local Mediterranean restaurant option, it can do better..

If you're expecting fast food or big sweaty cooks at an open grill, this isn't the place for you. If you're ready for some authentic, cook-to-order homemade Moroccan cuisine in a quaintly decorated restaurant, you've found just the place. We came in with no expectations, even got a little impatient while waiting for the food, but then had the most pleasant surprise once we took our first bite. The Moroccan mint tea wasn't just a pretty pot, it was fragrant without being overpowering, sweet but not cloying, flavorful but subtle. The seafood pastilla appetizer was a rich medley of fresh seafood wrapped in perfectly crispy phyllo pastry. The mixed grill contained a plate of well-seasoned meat that perfectly complimented the star of the show - couscous. I honestly never thought much of couscous ever until I had it here. Then came the veggie tagine. Make no mistake, it is NOT vegetarian. It's a slow-cooked fall-off-the-bone lamb shank with some vegetables just so you can pretend to feel healthy. Needless to say, we cleared all our plates. We had a really nice chat with the owner after our meal, where he reminisced his younger years growing up in Casablanca, boasted about his capable wife (aka executive chef of the restaurant) and hardworking son (aka our server), and showed us tea and couscous that they use, imported straight from Morocco. They just recently opened during the pandemic, so they are still pretty quiet. Definitely come support them so I can continue to have amazing Moroccan food in my neighborhood! Just remember to bring an interesting date so you have plenty to talk about while waiting for your order.

On a Friday evening, we decided to try a new restaurant and Marrakech fit the bill. We were a bit reluctant because the view from outside didn't look too attractive but, OMG.... I'm so glad we gave it a go... Interior decor - 10. Super cute, very authentic, we felt like we were in an Instagram story; living it up in Morocco. Service - 10. I cannot emphasize this enough... this is a local, family owned business. Dad is the host, son helps with service and mom cooks. You will feel the love, you will see the hustle and you will feel like the guest of honor at their home. Food - 10. Unbelievably fresh, tasty and unique. Moroccan food is so complex - think about it as a mixture of native, African, French, Spanish, Middle Eastern food... try chicken pastilla and lamb tagine. Thank me later ;) Overall, this was the best restaurant experience we had in the last couple of years in Chicago. Also, it is very reasonably priced and BYOB. We are going back. Definitely give it a try.

Family run - the owner, son, wife do everything! Wife cooks with maybe her mom or husband's mom ? Super generous and friendly. My only points are atmosphere - the west side of the restaurant has NO light. So feels kind of gloomy. They need to figure out lighting besides the little candles. It's just a big difference from one side of the restaurant to the other side (and it's just 1 room). I also didn't like the BYOB charge - $10. We brought a nice $30 bottle from Lush right by there. Just seemed a bit high for corkage fee (byob charge). Also - they put bottle waters (cheap flimsy reg. plastic water bottles COSTCO style) when you sit down. Not sure why that is vs. reg. tap water. Then they add $2 a bottle to your tab. I think that's not cool - we did ask for tap water (my friend missed Chicago H2O). So I can't confirm they charge you for the water - but it is on the menu.

This restaurant is full of charm and a delicious menu. We enjoyed an incredible meal. We had chicken tagine, chicken pastilla (see attached) and lovely mint green tea. The staff was very kind and accommodating. We will absolutely be back! This is a great spot for lunch or dinner.

Couldn't wait to review this place. With covid, service has been terrible everywhere (and understandably so) BUT this place goes above and beyond!!!! The absolute best service we've ever had (pre, during, and post-ish covid). Everyone here is so incredibly friendly. Very welcoming and you get the family restaurant feel the second you wal Now for the food- we asked the waiter for recommendations and we're so happy we did. We had warm pita and a sample platter of appetizers (exploding with flavor). I ordered the chicken tagine and my fiancé ordered the lamb couscous. Both were delicious. We both loved the lamb a bit more than the chicken but would order everything again. Lamb was OUTSTANDING and full of flavor. Please do yourself a favor and come check this out!

Wow! We were walking by this restaurant and we decided to stop in. It was literally empty, but why not. It was so freakin good - I really can't wait to come back. The portions are very good and it's very inexpensive. The service is top notch and everything was authentic. Don't come here if you're short on time - it's really about the experience. It's only a matter of time before they have a line out their door.

We ran into this hidden gem while walking around looking for restaurants. We decided to walk in and we were greeted and welcomed by this young man named Adam. He was very kind, professional, and knowledgeable about the food on the menu. He recommended us the "Lamb Couscous" and let me say that the way he described the plate made us even more hungry and excited to taste it!! GREAT JOB ADAM!! The food was so tasty we kept looking at each other and saying "This is very good!!" We loved everything about this place from the decorations to the music and mainly the foood!! At the end of our visit we had the pleasure to meet the owner that made us feel even more welcomed and nice enough to offer us free appetizers that was delicious! He also recommended a Hookah lounge near by upon our request! Thank you for the great experience. We highly recommend this restaurant!

Amazing food served in the most beautiful interior. Family owned restaurant where the food is made with love. The service is top notch and they taught us about the Moroccan food and culture. Must try if you're in West Town or if you want to try incredible Moroccan food.

It's really unfortunate this place was a let down. I went there a couple of weeks back on a Friday night and no one was there. But the food took forever to come out and was extremely subpar. Even a good friend of mine from Morroco said this is not real Moroccan food. Even for Middle Eastern food it was subpar. The price was also very high for the extremely lackluster food. The only nice part was the owner (I believe) came out to greet us at the end. I wish the place was better since it's a few blocks from my home but it's just honestly very bad. I've had 4 other friends go who all said the same.

The food here is amazing. This family run business is a must see in Chicago. My favorites from today were the Marrakech In Tagine and the seafood appetizer.

Review from a Moroccan - love it! Real authentic Moroccan food near your door. All what we ordered was tasty and cooked the best Moroccan way possible. We were visiting from Cincinnati and thought we would give it a try. We didn't regret. We will go back and recommend to our friends and family visiting Chicago. The place is cosy and people working there are nice especially the waiter.

Ramadan iftar is best here! Absolutely delicious family owned business! Everything was fresh, made of great ingredients. I can go on and on about how amazing and quick the service and food were or I can simply describe it best in the words of the chef "I cook food for my customers with the same care and passion I cook it for my children and my family". I went there on a Sunday. According to Yelp, the restaurant opened at 12pm. I made a special trip for the Bastilla pie. The owner oped the door and told me their hours had changed to 1pm. The owner also said he account with Yelp was closed. So why does Yelp still have the restaurant listed? I waited till the restaurant opened. I heard good news about their Bastilla pie, I wanted to try it.

Authentic, hot, freshly made Moroccan food! I lived in Morocco for a couple years and found all of the dishes and hot tea deeply nostalgic. Highly recommend trying the chicken pastilla!

My husband and I came here at the tail end of an anniversary trip to Chicago and this is, hands down, the best food we've had all week. We ordered chicken pastilla, atlas tagine and menara tagine and loved all 3 of the dishes. This place will definitely be on the top of our list the next time we visit the city.

We were hoping for authentic Moroccan food and this place did not let us down! It is a family owned business with cute decor and NEXT LEVEL food. Everything we ordered was amazing. I would highly recommend trying this place out.

Amazing service and exceptional food. My friend and I popped into Marrakech on a Friday night, and were not disappointed. We were waited on by the owner and his son, and they were so kind. We ordered the hummus as an app, and it was DIVINE. Perfectly seasoned and the pita was warm and super tasty. For mains, we got the chicken kebab and the Marrakech in Tagine. The lamb was tender and the chicken was super moist. Overall an amazing experience, and we're definitely planning on going back!

Terrible awful and very bad. -place smelled strongly and unappetizingly of cleaners upon entry - BYOB? Adds a $5 corkage per person whether everyone drinks or not and they don't uncork but leave a corkscrew on the table. Even getting the waiter to bring the right glasses to the table was a challenge. - dropped a small plastic bottle of water at each place instead of a glass of water. No glasses.( What is it with the glasses?) Environmentally awful and who wants to drink out of a bottle during a nice meal? -few veg options outside the appetizers. The "veggie" tagline had lamb which they said they could leave out, but I was still charged for the lamb. It was an expensive very basic dish. - food ok, nobody in the group seemed blown away -they added a 20% service fee. Maybe because we were 6 people but watch out! -waiter wouldn't make eye contact, acted like he was only grudgingly serving us -they bring lots of pita but you have to order and pay for couscous -very expensive for what it was. $270plus for 6 people with the corkage and service fees -watch out, some tagines come with a batch of french fries, not on the side but dumped on top of the meat. Why? how disappointing given the high reviews.

Authentic/tasty food and friendly staff. We went on a slow evening and after being immediately greeted by the host... it took about 5 minutes before waiter came by with menu code and water. He then waited on one of the other 2 tables in the place and again disappeared to the back. At this point, I was a bit confused about all the 5* reviews and concerned if we'd make it back to our kids in 2 hours when the sitter had to leave. But from the moment the waiter returns to take our order, everything was perfect. The fresh brewed mint tea tasted just I'd had in the bazaar in Marrakech. The appetizers and soup came out perfectly timed and the waiter returned multiple times to top off our supply of pita bread. The hummus was perfectly flavored and extraordinarily creamy. The "Marrakech Deal" which includes app spread of beets, eggplant, carrots, and spinach was outstanding. Every item was perfect in both flavor and texture. The Moroccan soup was delicious. Nothing special, but again the broth was simple but tasty, the chickpeas were crisp and the noodles Al dente. Lastly, we had both a chicken and a lamb tangine. Seasoning and flavors are perfect. The chicken was juicy and the lamb tender. The wait to get our check was again a bit long (a few more tables came in and staff was moving quickly ). But honestly it seems like there was just a family of 3 people working both front and back of the house. If you're not in a rush and have time to enjoy tea and apps for a while and bring a nice bottle of wine to relax and converse over dinner BYOB), I think you'll have an awesome experience. We will definitely be back.

Fantastic spot - BYOB, incredibly authentic and hospitable. Food is outstanding, it's like having a home cooked Moroccan meal. Their garlic sauce and their chili sauce are out of this world. I'd honestly recommend everything on the menu but specifically the Atlas chicken, Falafel and their homemade hummus. The baklava is to die for. You cannot go wrong though. They're obviously a family run establishment and the service couldn't be better.

I've lived in this hood for a decade, and it's long overdue that we have a Moroccan restaurant in West Town/Noble Square. I'm glad that this is the first one, as it was fantastic. The staff was excellent- attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable. The food was even better. We had a chicken pastilla as an appetizer, which was new to us, and tasted great. The lamb couscous was spiced well, and the lamb was tender, exactly as it should be. The mixed kebab plate w/rice was tender and the harissa was nice and spicy. Everything was done well, and reminded me of what I've had in Rabat. The baklava for dessert was done perfectly. Oh, and the Moroccan tea was authentic as well. We will be back to try the tagine and falafel, which we saw other people eating, and it looked great. This is a welcome addition to the neighborhood.

Visited Marrakech for the first time and enjoyed it very much. The Atlas Tagine was delicious as were the Marrakech Deal, veggie cigars, and harira. Looking forward to next time already! Thank you for the wonderful food and hospitality

The food was super good, super authentic, and the family that owns and runs this restaurant are very sweet. Two things that stood out where the tangin and the tea.
