Stephan Pyles Resurrects Stampede 66 in Allen | Eater Dallas

"Owned by Stephan Pyles, the restaurant has relocated from its Uptown outpost to a hotel in Allen at 777 Watters Creek Boulevard after an abrupt October closure blamed on flagging attendance. About 90 percent of the menu made the move north, preserving favorites such as the Shiner Bock beer bread, honey-fried chicken, mashed potato tots, chicken-fried buffalo steak, and chili pie. Pyles attributed the Uptown shutdown to a saturated restaurant market, nearby construction, and vacant real estate, and says developers in Collin County had long encouraged a move north; he’s hopeful the Allen location will be a better fit given a relative dearth of notable dining options up north." - Alaena Hostetter

Was here for a conference. The meeting rooms are easy to locate and well marked. They're clean, well organized, and comfortable. The food served and wait staff were excellent. There are plenty of seating options for resting or working in between sessions, too. I enjoyed the conference experience at this venue.

The water pressure in the shower was non-existent and the towels were poor quality and felt scratchy. The bedding smelled like it was kept in a closet a long time. The mirror in the bathroom was too far away to use to do makeup and the one in the room was not lighted well; I just ended up not wearing any. The bed was super comfy and the ac worked very well. I liked the eggs and bacon for breakfast.

We were really looking forward to a relaxing night away from the kids for a nearby event, but unfortunately this stay didn’t live up to expectations.||Cons:|- We were told no upgrades were available, even though upgraded rooms still showed as available for purchase online — disappointing as Bonvoy elite members.|- Room service arrived cold and in to-go boxes and a paper bag instead of on trays, which made it feel more like takeout than a hotel experience.|- The worst part was the complete lack of soundproofing. We could clearly hear our neighbors’ early morning “activities” — not exactly what we wanted for our one night away.|- No valet parking available, which you’d typically expect at a full-service Marriott.||Pros:|- The rooms themselves were clean and well-kept.|- The lobby bar staff were great — friendly service and solid cocktails that were a highlight of the stay.||Overall, the property looks nice on the surface but misses on the details that make a hotel feel premium.

I recently stayed for 9 nights for an event being held at this facility. There were charging errors during my stay (overcharged for incidentals, charged twice for a couple of nights, etc). The hotel staff did accommodate my room request of a low floor and corner room which was nice. The hallways were warm and extremely humid even on the 2nd floor. The room itself was lacking in some aspects. The mini fridge had to be 'turned on' every few hours to keep things cold, plus it was very small (it wouldn't even hold a standard size takeout container). There is only one drawer to store clothes, and the 'closet' holds maybe 5 hang up items. This might be fine for a single person or couple, but not a family of 4. The beds were comfortable and pillows plentiful. Towels were soft and fluffy. We noticed when making up our bed though that a lot of down and dust would come out of the duvets which is concerning for someone who has allergies. Our catered meal for the event left a LOT to be desired (food was served cold, couldn't even call it lukewarm). Room service, breakfast buffet and bar food was all delicious though, and I felt I got a good meal for the price I paid. Grab & Go was a bit inflated in my opinion on their prices ($5 for a bag of gummy bears). One day we got locked out of our room when our key reader batteries died. It took maintenance over an hour to get to our room to fix the problem. I'm very glad that this didn't take place while my daughter's pageant events were happening as her wardrobe was locked in the room! She would have missed her event! Housekeeping: It was random what we would get done when we requested service (one time we only got fresh towels. another we got fresh bed linens and k-cup restock only. 1 time we requested a vacuum only and got everything EXCEPT a vacuuming of the room). On our final night I noticed that there was a THICK layer of dust on the wall above the beds....and it clicked that this was what was probably getting blown around the room when we shook out covers. It was gross. For only being 4 years old, this hotel needs some basic upkeep to keep it looking nice (mold marks and peeling wallpaper in the halls for example). Having the Watters Creek shopping center right across the street was super convenient with many food options and a grocery store. We really liked that we had direct access to our floor from the parking garage. I do wish the garage had a security arm or some way to check-in and make it a little more secure. The pool, lobby, restaurant, and convention center spaces are nice and well kept, and for the most part the staff I interacted with were super accommodating and helpful.

Good bar. Canyon Bar and Grill. Salmon is okay… (good choice of salmon but accompaniment needs improvement.) Apple cobbler is mediocre. BlackBerry old fashioned was fine. Could lean a little heavier on the blackberry for my taste. But old fashioned was good.

Everything is great so far. I marked the location a low 2 because im talking about the elevators and the parking garage. Why is there no elevator that goes straight to the lobby. You have to stop for food water and oxygen before getting to the lobby. I love the hotel but definitely gonna stay somewhere else for this conference next year. But its still nice.

Staff is great and friendly room service was absolutely amazing. Anything you needed. They'd be right there with it. The restaurant a little on the pricey side, but wonderful food. Great atmosphere. I will definitely stay there again.

Writing this review late because, honestly, I forgot to! Moving back down to Texas in March 2025 from up north took us through Dallas and the wife and I stayed at this Marriott. Very large and spacious, but the day we arrived there was a dance competition that ended so all the competitors and family members were everywhere trying to get out. This delayed our check-in by a few hours and frankly, it was not fun sitting around with nowhere to go and nothing to do, but we had no choice. When we finally got our room, it was very nice, not as spacious as I would have expected from staying at multiple different Marriotts in different locations, including Texas, but we were so tired and just wanted to sleep. We did get free breakfast vouchers since I am Titanium Elite and breakfast was a bright spot in this hotel, a lot of options for anyone to eat and delicious. I was told my parking would be waived because of the inconvenience we faced the previous day with having to wait hours to get our room, but it was still on the bill and we had already left, so there wasn't much I could do since I didn't remember the name of the staff member who promised me that. Hotel itself is very nice and modern looking.
