It takes a few minutes to order your food or drinks when it’s busy, but that’s part of the fun. Great Cuban social dance classes there too, on the 3rd Friday of every month, offered by RuedaConRitmo! So much fun, and great vibes!

Amazing. Super experience. The cocktails were amazing. We ordered four, two each. Tried a variety. The food was spectacular. The quality and quantity was perfect. The service and outdoor diner was above expectations. The pattella was more than enough, the pork belly was succulent and flavorful.

Local/community bar feel. Friendly & safe. Different kinds of spaces (indoor, covered outdoor) to hang out in. Went for salsa class & dancing.

We went with some friends to their vinyl Sunday Live DJ Party and it was a blast. Friendly crowd, great music. And there’s a pool table too.

5 STARS for Alex the BARBACK ALEX!!! I haven't seen him in years. This establishment should be fortunate. Precious 💎 are forever! The downfall of tonight was the Kitchen was CLOSED at 8:59 per the female bartender & at 9:59pm...We were asked to leave because the bartender had a date with her boyfriend (heard her on the phone). We came here because I met Keith years ago and I owed him a visit. If it wasn't for Alex, I would have voted but I wanna thank Alex for being a rock star and serving his employee meal to my friend. 2 mozzarella stigs because he felt bad.... We won't be back, but we will see alex again someday....

Such a cool, fun place. They have themed events, like DJs spinning vinyl on Sundays, great bar food, friendly bartenders, and 2 outdoor patios. Real old school San Francisco.

We went to a Queen of the Damned themed private party of one of the days they are closed to the public and we had a BLAST. The drinks were good and reasonably priced. The bathrooms clean, the bartender was very nice and personable. I can’t remember his name but he was the guy who boxes for fun. My husband got a Beyond Burger and he just about died from joy lol

I like the food bar. Alcohol selection is a bit limited, but over nice staff. Only been here once for a going away party for a friend. Crowd was light, friendly, and liked to dance. So that's always fun. Bartenders are great!

I love that Mars Bar is divey yet vibrant. This spot is a chill yet fun vibe, especially the back patio on a nice sunny day. Perfect for a quick lunch break or relaxing drink after work, it's truly a versatile space where I feel comfortable coming alone or with a group of friends. They have free pool but the floor is slanted. It's not ideal but one of the staff members was kind enough to stuff some paper plates under one side to help level the table and it worked pretty well. There's regular programming that promotes a strong sense of community, like drag brunch and open mic nights, and the bar staff I've met are so friendly and amazing: Shane is really fun, Noah makes my favorite palomas, and Chance makes me feel extremely taken care of. On top of that, I always get the wings here! They're not that big but it's usually enough for me. I love that they're saucy yet still crispy; get the mango habanero, but if you're not feeling saucy, I also like the lemon pepper.

Terrible Customer service! I walked into the restaurant to place an order. I briefly stood their she would attend to me, then I moved towards the end of the counter where she was headed. I stood their for about five minutes, I never got any acknowledgement..As a matter of fact she served drinks to about other people as I stood their waiting patiently. When I seen I wasn't about to be served or Acknowledge I ea quietly walked out. This is so disheartening because alot of my coworkers like this spot, but the service I just received was down right Shity!! .....YALL NEED TO DO BETTER

Had a great time here at Mars Bar. Went to Thursday trivia with a group of friends and ended up winning a few rounds. Prizes varied from drink vouchers to shirts. The bartenders were kind and funny, and regularly came up to us to check if we needed anything. The patrons of the bar here seem to be regulars, but everyone was friendly to us. The venue itself is larger on the inside than what I expected. There is a covered outside patio part that has space for live music events. We ordered various rounds of drinks and onion rings, which was great. The pool table in the back was slanted, which made it unplayable. The bathrooms are all the way in the back by the outside patio.

Stopped in for lunch while on jury duty. Had a great grilled chicken sandwich with side salad. The choices for side are salad or fries with a Caesar salad, or tater tots for an up charge. The staff was super friendly and service was fast, which is what I needed on limited time. Everything was fresh and very tasty. It was a nice day out, so I ate on the open air patio. I'm glad this place is close to the court house. Also full bar! But not for me today. But I'll be back again for sure.

great bar. ordered the steak sandwich, but they bro me a steak salad. they realized their mistake and they gave me the steak salad for free. both meals were delicious. steak sandwiches are hit or miss usually but these were delicious. The staff was super friendly also. highly recommended

We were shopping at the Jewlery mart and the security crew recommended Mars for lunch and drinks. Place was walking distance Very clean upon entry and inviting. Noah was the bartender. We ordered chicken wings, pulled pork sandwich, French fries and Taco salad. Food was flavorful and cooked to the appropriate temperature. Large portions and quick service. Fun place will definitely go Back. I ordered an old fashioned and was not a fan. No orange peel, fancy cherry, or stir which really makes a difference in the taste. Had I known ahead of time I would not have ordered but that's just me. My brother enjoyed his old fashioned they way it was served. I went five stars because we really enjoyed our time with Noah And the food was awesome. Just need to Tighten the old fashioned up. Give Mars a go seems they have fun evening happenings there as well.

This little lunch bar is right by one of my locksmith partners and it does not disappoint. I have only had the hamburger and fry's but they were so good. It's a great little place to stop in for lunch and they have a full bar to quench your thirst as well.

Food was good but on there site it says "Large Wings" for like 17-18 dollars. They are not large wing it's 6 party wings!!! Not very happy about that. Be prepared to at least spend 40.00

Great happy hour and fun staff. Weekly events and a lovely hidden patio. The half price appetizers on Fridays make it a great pregame hangout!

Always a good time at Mars Bar. I've been here a number of times because I work close by. I have consistently had a great time with great drinks and great service. They have outdoor seating which is a huge plus in my book, full on with umbrellas at each table for shade and all. Today in particular, I ordered drinks and food. I ordered the burger because it was highly recommended by the bartender. I mistakenly didn't realize the burger came with bacon on it until the burger arrived. The bartender was SO nice about it all and got me another burger without bacon super fast. He also let us box up the first burger and said to bless someone else with it - he even brought out new fries and everything, the whole nine yards!! I felt so accommodated and taken care of, not once did he make me feel bad or get mad - even though this was totally my fault. This is the type of service that keeps you coming back to a place, I can't express how much gratitude I feel for the stellar service. I will absolutely be back! Thanks Mars Bar!!!

I love the ambiance, they make their cocktails with good liquor. They have good selection of draft beer. The server is great!!! There's a patio and the food is good.

Great food, amazing staff and bartenders. What more can you ask for? When you go here you are treated like family. Also, some of the best djs around might be spinning there on any given day. Great place to watch a game as well.

I returned again yesterday for another chance. David, the owner has remedied my concerns and given a full refund for it. Today, I had a juicy Mars Burger with fries. The burger is cooked to perfection. It's soft, buttery, tender, and oh~so delicious. Fries is an improvement from my last visit and cooked just right this time around. All in all, this is the food I remembered from Mars Bar. The place isn't too busy today and I love the chill backyard vibe. The sun shines just right and it makes it feel like I'm in some tropical place somewhere. It is just missing a tiki bar but otherwise a great place to chill during your work lunch. Maybe even work lunch date?

Classic neighborhood tavern w all the necessary amenities: cocktails, great beer selection, solid bar menu, hard working friendly staff, sports and music. I mean that checks every box right? Fab burger, actually might be best in class and a perfectly cooked chicken breast sando. New to the area and for sure Mars deserves regular rotation status.

Chance service is top standard! Bay bee when I tell you me and my coworkers come just for his energy, also Let me tell you, chance makes the best drinks at MARS bar. So me and my coworkers work around the corner from mars and we go there a lot. When come in we greeted and with smiles and good vibes. This day 7/7/23 I had the chance of meeting chance. Best bar tender hands DOWN! My coworkers already spoke highly of him so I expected nothing less and got nothing less! Drinks good, food good ! I associate this place with Jury Duty, since the courtroom is just around the corner. Nothing better than a few lunch beers while deciding the fate of one of your fellow citizens. And get this--they had taco tuesday when I went there today. $2 tacos, $2 tecates. Damn, that's like 2005 prices. Tacos didn't blow me away or anything, but they were amazing for that price point. Pub grub, decent tap selection, and friendly bartender. Certainly made my jury duty experience modestly more enjoyable. Except for desperately needing to pee during the proceedings.

I've been going to Mars Bar for almost two decades. Wow! That makes me feel old. Lol. Great staff, delicious drinks, and yummy food. I've never ordered anything I didn't like. Great place for after-work drinks in SF, a place to watch the game, or Sunday brunch. I've celebrated birthdays here & heard SF's finest house DJ's. They are dog friendly and people friendly, too. ;)

** The following review reflects my takeout experience DURING the shelter-in-place order currently in effect. ** Apparently it took a pandemic for me to go to Mars. I didn't need a rocket to get there, just a self-made mask and a pair of disposable gloves as I was taking a walk on the empty SoMa streets. I remember reading on Eater that Mars was offering takeout, and silly me, I thought it was just a bar with rowdy customers who already ate at a taco truck. But my dismissive nature made me unaware of their surprisingly robust menu of grill favorites. Unlike most places offering takeout during these dark days of COVID-19, they allowed you to walk in, order, and even wait, although the chairs were appropriately stacked on the tables. There were a couple of guys who looked like they made themselves at home at the bar. So much for social distancing. The server, however, wore disposable gloves and kept away from me as best she could when I ordered the $14 Chicken Taco Salad. I was just happy to get home and not have to get my wok out to make my riced cauliflower. It was pretty good, simply made with a large chicken breast, charred on the grill and sliced resting on a bed of chopped romaine, accessorized with black olives, shredded cheddar, pico de gallo, and corn chip strips (photo: https://bit.ly/3esRYLx). The food here is tasty and the staff friendly, but the ownership seems to insist on only paying one person to work the very busy midday shift. Frequently the service is slow to non-existent because one person is serving more than 20-25 parties. I hate owners that understaff a business.

This is such a fun bar! Dog friendly, music playing from in-house DJs, good beer selection and liquor selection, and pretty good prices!

Came for the first time to have a drink with an old friend. We walked in and were immediately greeted by the bartender on duty. We arrived around 6 PM on a Tuesday to a small crowd of folks. It was obvious these were locals/regulars, which is nice to see and experience--to me it means this might be a place worth remembering. The vibe was certainly warm and welcoming! We came and quickly ordered drinks to start and were offered a food menu. Drinks came very quickly and were poured with a certain type of love that makes you know you're here for a good time, HA! We sat outside at the patio which was lovely and intimate with fabulous decor and ambiance. When I closed my tab, I learned from our bartender there is a second patio that is open to smoking. We enjoyed another round of well-made drinks and chatted with some of the regulars. This is certainly a lovely neighborhood bar that I'm excited to make my regular watering hole. First impressions matter, and it was great to have my expectations be met and exceeded. Thank you for the great experience and I can't wait to come back, Taco tuesdays may very well become part of my weekly ritual!!!

Really awesome place. All the workers are so kind and are eager to serve you with the best hospitality. Really fresh food with large portions and great vibes. Usually you can catch some fun DJs playing! There's an awesome patio to enjoy a drink, meal and dance on. This a go to spot!

We don't drink but we were starving so stopped by and grabbed the nachos which were surprisingly tasty :) they were so good I couldn't get a photo before eating them all lol

Really love this place - I used to come here for lunch to hang out in the beer garden when I was on jury duty. Taco Tuesday's is a must - $2 tacos and Tecates were pretty good value for money. Stopped by on some other days - the burgers are good, as is the fried chicken special. Only downside is that the wifi is intermittent so it was a bit hard to do work (but it's a bar so it's not that big a deal)

One of my favorite burgers in the city. Mars Bar has good sound, great drinks, an awesome outdoor patio with tons of heaters, giant TVs for sports, and local DJs often playing. Great people and a SF hidden gem.

Used to come here every Tuesday for their tacos. Service is a bit spotty though. More than once I have walked in and stood in front of the bartender to order my lunch to go and was ignored. Some are friendly and acknowledge your presence and some ignore you unless you're ordering alcohol. Many choices in the area to choose from for a quick lunch.

bartender couldn't make classic 3 ingredient cocktails like a daiquiri. Acted pretentious, gave me some random swill in a pint glass. Wouldn't recommend for anything other than a beer before the next stop.

I've been coming to Mars Bar for years! What a fun place! Definitely check this spot out. It's the kind of bar you can go for some beers to watch the game but also hear some of the best music that will really get you up and dancing. Friendly and helpful staff. Good food. Good drinks. For the last 8 yrs, this place has been the most fun, the food is ALWAYS GOOD and the music has always been enjoyable. The owner and the staff are amazing people and failed to mention kid's are welcomed. Looking forward to enjoying many more year at this place.

I was in town on a camping trip and googled a "Good burger". From the moment I walked in, I wanted to love this place.... but sadly service was not amazing. I had to repeatedly ask for another beer when my glass sat empty (3 drinks total) and only 5 people total at the bar, which is where I was sitting. I ordered onion rings for an app after a long day of hiking and a burger with side salad. Burger came and halfway though, I asked if the rings were still coming, she clearly forgot and just ordered them to which she never came back to ask if I was ok (it's ok we all make mistakes but avoidance makes it worst)... again this is where my glass sat empty on the bar rail for 9 minutes. When I asked for the check finally, nothing was offered at a discount for the lack of service. I figured she would at least comp the rings, but nope. So sad....

They say men are from Mars but this raises the bar for all genders. I had a great salmon sandwich with fries. The service was great. This bar is a mix of locals and techies which is a hybrid of my make up. I like coming here in the day and night time.

Rating is for lunch. They had a pretty good menu, but nothing was really that well done. I had a grilled turkey and cheese, and my partner at a salad. Mars Bar & Restaurant is an iconic SF venue. Sunday's typically consist of live music, dancing, food, cocktails, as well as kind and happy patrons. There exists inside seating, as well as outside seating, which helps hosts large crowds for dancing, or parties held for sports games / other celebrations. The owner, David Kiely, truly goes above and beyond in hospitality towards all patrons in his own establishment. His staff; the chefs, and the bartenders, are also kind and hospitable. David especially is always making sure everyone is doing good, has what they need, and he emits a consistently kind, generous, and upbeat attitude, which makes you want to return for the next time! Located in the SOMA district, at 7th and Brannan, this is the place for good vibes in SOMA.

Just an OK local watering hole. The food can sometimes surprise you, for bar food. Their nachos and fries are great for sharing and they have some weekly lunch specials like Taco Tuesdays. The drink selection is typical, though the bartenders can be slow at times, but there's a nice outdoor patio to make up for it. Overall, never a place I'd go out of my way for, but if you're in the neighborhood, fine for a drink, and if you're already drinking here, might as well get some greasy food.

We wanted to grab a quick snack and drinks before attending an art show at SOMArts, so found this spot within walking distance. We grabbed a seat at the bar and ordered the Garlic Fries ($7) and Calamari ($10) to snack on. Both were tasty and exactly what I was craving. The fries were standard with only a hint of garlic flavor, but their special chipotle aioli sauce was bomb! The calamari was quite yummy with perfectly crisp and huge pieces. Since we were at the bar, the bartender was quick to attend to our service and refilling our drinks the minute we finished them. We went through 3 rounds plus a shot. I have to say that the mixed drinks weren't too heavy though.

The place to go for covid-19 to go orders! The flank steak salad was firrrrrrrrrreee! To go margarita was was as good as they get. Especially on a hot day! Don't sleep!
