"Specialty cheeses, cured meat, desserts and an incredible selection of wine, beer, and spirits, Martha’s not only has a handy location in just up the hill from downtown, but is charming market that is a must visit for provisions on the corner of Union and Lyon. Stop by in the afternoon on a weekend and you’ll likely find their staff offering wine and cheese sampling as you browse. This place is so great, locals joke about the Martha's tax - an extra $3-5 added on to the bill than if you purchased the same items at a 'regular' grocery store (which we gladly pay for the great experience). Pro-tip, if you're looking to go extra fancy (read: hundreds of dollars) on wine or liquors, ask to visit the 2nd floor and check out the best of what they have in the house." - CreativeMornings Grand Rapids

This was my first time ever being to a Martha's vineyard, and I fully love Martha's vineyard now! The selection of quality items, and products from other countries was amazing. I had purchased some milk chocolate covered hazelnuts from Dubai, and they were so good. Excited to come back when I'm in this part of town.

Google
We love it here! We make special trips down from 1hr away just to grab dessert, a unique grocery item, and a slice of pizza. Always a unique selection of everything, and great, attentive and knowledgeable staff

Google
An amazing local grocery with a great selection of goods. The owner is so kind every time we come in.

Google
Very extensive produce selection. Fresh and clean interior. Friendly staff. It encompasses, beer, wine, grab and go fresh fruit plus salads or heat and serve deli items plus a fresh cheese selection. Including goat cheese wrapped in grape leaves. Great option for grocery shopping in the downtown GR area & Heritage Hill.

Google
Huge selection, knowledgeable staff and excellent deli options. I bought several small desserts for my husband’s birthday there instead of doing a cake. They packaged the delicate desserts quite nicely and made them very easy to transport. I often grab beef tenderloin slices from the deli to use for quick dinners after work. They have so many great options.

Google
Great selection for it's size. So unique items and a lot of Michigan made as well. Prices range high to low, but there are some real quality items worth the price.

I shop here often and I love the smoked salmon from the deli. Please go back to the original seasoning that was used. The batch today tasted so different 😫

One of the reasons Grand Rapids is an annual trip for my family. Amazing wine and Bourbon selection, great food options including a deli and the pizza is fantastic without Chicago prices.

Yelp
There is something for everyone here! At least it feels this way. I love all the fresh food options as well as the many local and international food items they offer! I am always greeted when I come in and I'm always thanked for my business upon leaving. I often stop in for a deli sandwich that you can find at the checkout counter coolers. Sometimes I grab a salad and they are always fresh and crisp. I always wonder to the back for pastas or dinner options. You can easily pair any of their great premade foods with any drinks or wines. They offer a huge selection. You can also find everything you need for the best charcuterie boards. So many options! They take cash or card! Parking is in front, side street or they have a small lot in the back. Every time I come here it's an excellent experience! I absolutely love the vibe of this store and will definitely continue shopping here. The store looks straight out of a Holiday movie!

Yelp
I go here way too often to not highlight this hidden gem! I discovered this place from a co-worker late last year and have been frequently stopping in for lunch and beverages. This is a great place to check out if you're not sure what you want for lunch because their deli options change all the time, but they have a variety of options. If nothing in their deli screams your name, you can always pick out one of their delicious sandwiches in the front or their pizza next door. They also have a wide selection of beverages including teas, coffee, energy drinks and alcohol. My favorite beverage to grab is the strawberry vanilla Olipop! Aside from the food and beverages, they are actually a small grocery store with lots of options for snacks, fruits, produce and other things you need to make meals. The people here are always so friendly and I love the intimate feel of a smaller market. If I lived in this area, I would be shopping here everyday!

Jesse W.

Yelp
My partner and I went here while we were staying in Grand Rapids, it was walking distance from our Airbnb. The specialty items were delicious and the service was friendly. Very cute little neighborhood shop, I definitely recommend making a stop if you're in Grand Rapids.

Danylle L.

Yelp
I love Martha's Vineyard. They have everything you need for everyday and party nights. I love that there is always someone available to answer my questions on the many, many wines. The food is always top tier! I'm never disappointed.

Dominic A.

Yelp
I can't say enough about this place! I've been going since I first move to the hill when you could run a tab and write a check if you were in the "book". I've seen it grow into what it is now. The selection of wine is out of the world! I do wish they could get more hard ciders (singles). The deli and the pizza shop outstanding. The owner definitely know is customer base and always has, you can pick up the basics but you also can pick up obscure things as well. oh and DONT leave without a slice of cheesecake.

Lateeka M.

Yelp
Cutest store around. Desserts are excellent and they have a ton of vegan options. They also have a great wine selection.

Randall L.

Yelp
Wow! We are in town for Art Prize and this was the nearest liquor store. Of course once you say you are going to the store, everyone jumps in with things they want you to get. Well, I am so glad we picked this store. Think Trader Joe's in a small town. They have everything you could want, and top quality! Stop and see for yourself. It is well worth it. Good supplies, friendly service and decent prices for quality products.

Jenna D.

Yelp
Mandatory stop when visiting GR. Love the vibe of the market. The service is always impressive and everyone is extremely knowledgeable. The house olives are spectacular, but I wave the white flag of mercy when it comes to the Lemon Bar and Vegan Chocolate cake. I could eat my weight in those babies! Never unsatisfied.

Beth H.

Yelp
I love this place! I spent WAY too long checking out all their speciality offerings and extensive wine selection. What I found here that I haven't anywhere else, is the charcuterie boxes. They were a bit pricey at $45 and didn't have the names of the contents anywhere on the packaging, however, it was a great idea. I would have bought one if I knew what cheeses were in them. Cow v. Sheep's milk is very important to some. The chocolate section is amazing. There is a small fresh case in the back. Small selection of produce and really friendly staff. My couple of items was $80+ but hard to find chocolate, a good bottle of wine and excellent produce is premium. I would love to have this store in my neighborhood! There is parking area, but not many and very small spots. Best to be on foot or have a driver drop you off and circle the block while you shop. It's what husbands do best anyway. :)

Katy C.

Yelp
When I go into Martha's Vineyard, I always feel like I'm walking onto a movie set. It is such a quaint little gourmet grocery store with everything perfectly arranged. The produce is picture-perfect and the shelves are never in disarray. The deli counter never looks sad, and the desserts are divine. I love stopping in to grab a bottle of wine for a party, or a sandwich for a quick lunch, or a lovely dessert after dinner. The red velvet cheesecake torte is one of my all-time favorite desserts! Of course as the name suggests, Martha's has plenty of wine and at all different price points. The staff there are happy to help select a bottle or two for any occasion. They also have a huge selection of liquor, including several varieties I don't usually see at other stores and plenty of local options. Then there is the extensive beer cooler with unique sours, local picks, and rare bottles. I also love to browse the chocolate section as they always stock some really interesting and pricey options that make great gifts. The chip and snack aisle is also great and I found one of my newest favorite snacks at Martha's--Poplettes! Overall the prices for some items like produce are higher than what you'd typically find at a Meijer or other large grocery store, but I usually never buy those items at Martha's. I tend to buy more specialty things that I can't find anywhere else. Or those desserts! There is a designated parking lot behind the building as well as street parking on the front and side of the building, and I've never had any issues finding parking nearby.

Yelp
Love Martha's Vineyard. It's more than a neighborhood corner store, it's actually a destination not to miss. Excellent wine selection and monthly wine offerings. Love the fresh bakery items and the interesting deli foods that rotate so it's not always the same. Whether we want to pick up a full meal or just a few fresh vegetables, cheese or wine it's a real gem in the neighborhood.

Emmy S.

Yelp
I absolutely LOVE this charming little grocery store. We live only a couple of blocks away so it's very convenient. Honestly though, even if it was a little bit of a drive I'd still frequent this place. The produce is usually a very nice quality, which I always look for in a store. The deli and bakery located in the back of the store are amazing. I've never gotten anything from either place that I didn't love, and believe me, I've tried almost everything they offer. It's always delicious and always fresh. They usually have different options each day, which is nice. They have their own very yummy homemade baguettes too and make fresh deli sandwiches daily. They also have a large liquor selection for such a small shop and an amazing, as well as well-priced, wine section. Most importantly of all though, I have worked a lot of crappy jobs with bad management. It's very obvious when you go into a place of business and the place is badly managed, because the employees are so unhappy. That is NOT the case here. All of the employees are genuinely happy and ready to help you with whatever you need. That only happens when people love where they work. You can easily tell that this is the case at Martha's. That reason alone is enough for me to give them my repeat business. They definitely have higher end products so do expect slightly higher prices. Things like milk and eggs are going to be cheaper at a place like Meijer, so if you need to stretch a buck and that's all you're coming in for you're probably better off going to a larger chain store. That's the only negative thing, but it's perfectly understandable for prices to be higher when you're getting amazing customer service which you will NOT get at a chain store. All in all, five stars!!

Yelp
Let's chat about the landmark most people think of when they think: Midtown⁣ ⁣ Martha's Vineyard ⁣ ⁣ The neighborhood store with all the charm. Located on the corner of Lyon and Union, @marthas_gr is a Midtown icon. ⁣ ⁣ They carry an impressive selection of wine, and tons of local favorites that you'll find when you visit. ⁣ ⁣ Martha's is filled with local products, but also plenty of staples so you don't have to run to another store. One of my favorite things about Martha's is that they are the perfect place to go if you want to create the holy grail of all charcuterie boards. Their selection is astounding! ⁣ Wine + Cheese. You can't go wrong. ⁣

Nathan S.

Yelp
Ordered pizza from the attached pizza place and it was really good. Their varieties are very unique and I'll have to come back to try a few more.

Helen N.

Yelp
If you love carrot cake, moist and absolutely delicious you need to gets your buns down to Martha's Vineyard! I LOVE carrot cake and this rates high on my list of carrot cake places to grab a piece. It also happens to be gluten-free. Also, while your there check out the grocery store, deli items and fresh made pizza. You won't be disappointed!

Zoraida V.

Yelp
I just bought a jar of gold liquid! Inflation is hurting us all, especially small businesses but to hike up the prince between 30% to 50% is insane. I just paid $8 for small jar of jam which cost me $3.99 at Meijer and $4.99 at this same place two months ago. I had to go back just to check on other products and the increment was enough to keep me away. I know people prefer to walk to this place, they have a bakery, a pizzeria. But things have not gone up by the 10%, this is greed the impacts the neighborhood. Maybe others will pay it once, just like me, out of need.

Yelp
I LOVE me some Martha's Vineyard, lemme tell you. Such an amazing selection of wine, first and foremost. Wines galore, every type and from every wine country imaginable (even off the beaten path ones from countries like Lebanon, Israel, Turkey, Croatia...) Cheap wines, expensive wines, literally the most diverse selection Ive found in GR, I could spend the whole day just there. Also a fantastic craft beer selection. The produce and cheese are excellent quality but a bit pricey...most of their stuff is a bit pricey but its almost always worth the splurge because they never cut corners on their product selection. I couldnt afford to shop there for everything but its always a nice way to treat myself to get a few really nice things there for myself or show up to a party with a really nice bottle of wine and some fancy cheese to share. Nothing like getting a lil sum sum'n at Martha's. I also LOOOOOVE their premade sandwich cooler. They sell very excellent quality deli-style sandwiches and wraps for $6.00 and omg theyre so good! Very good quality fresh ingredients and so delicious! Im obsessed with their tuscany caprese sandwich, its my fav go-to when i need to grab a quick, healthy, filling, and inexpensive lunch!

Yelp
This store is adorable! It came up on my search engine as a "wine store" so I was expecting just a local wine shop since I don't know the area well. It's a whole little grocery store! It was a busy night when I stopped in after work (night before a holiday) so I didn't have time to browse as much as I wanted. I did find some whipped cream and eggnog, though, which meant I didn't have to go to another store. Since I was looking for wine, I was a little disappointed in the displays as they were pretty basic and the salesperson seemed confused by the difference between champagne and prosecco but I'd love to come back and check out some of the other goodies this place has to offer.

Linnea F.

Yelp
I love this shop--everything from the friendly staff to the best chicken salad in the world. This is a great place to go if you need something quick to eat (to go), or if you need help selecting wine. They have a huge selection of wine and the staff there is knowledgeable and always there to help. I love walking up and down the aisles and seeing what kinds of cool products they have. Also great fresh bread and pizza from next door!

Kurtis V.

Yelp
I concur with most positive feedback here. They are a very cool store with great options. But, they are too cool for the Constitution. If you carry a firearm, they will throw you out per employee "Will". I'm sure there are other retail options that are cool and support our Constitution. Thanks anyway.

Karen E.

Yelp
This place is a fun treasure chest full of fabulous'ness.

Yelp
I love love love Martha's Vineyard. If you need a place to food-indulge or dream of creative cooking ideas this place is an inspiration. They have very thoughtfully picked out speciality items and stock the many random items you might have forgotten to pick up at your last shopping trip to finish off a recipe at home. There are pre-prepared meals in the back for quick dinners/lunches along with a delectable dessert section. Tiramisu? Yes! There are many Mediterranean style options, as the owners also run the Mediterranean restaurant Marcona next door. I especially like their grape leaves, kale parmasen salad, schwarma, and acorn squash chicken salad. Oh AND they have the freshly made pizza shop connected to the grocery store! If you are a beer aficionado this is also the place to go to sample many different craft beers. I'm a fan of their ridiculously tempting ice cream section with Jennie's, Ben and Jerry's, Palazzo, MyMo Mochi's, and so much more... They cruelly (or are very savvy) to place the ice cream freezers right in front of the cash registers! I practically lived at this store while I was pregnant... Staff are friendly and very helpful. There is regular cheese and wine samplings during the week. What more do you need in a neighborhood corner store!

Johnathan S.

Yelp
The evening staff are uncomfortable and creepy. They won't greet you or make small talk with you like a normal person. These guys just stare a hole through your head and stare at most women predatorily. I used to love shopping at Martha's but they've made my wife so uncomfortable I refuse to shop there now. I don't know names but the balding late 20's man, the boy with the brown hair in his 20's, and the short heavy set guy with the glasses and the dark facial hair; seem to be the root of the problem with the night staff. These boys have terrible attitudes and aren't friendly in fact I find them pretty disgusting as I've overheard them saying strange lude comments about young women shopping at Martha's. I've also overheard them saying disrespectful things about people of Cuban descent... something about drug cartels? This is a drastic change from what I remember of Martha's a few years ago. Really disappointed to say the least. To continue my experience, the older man working in the wine section asked my wife to put a bottle of wine away for him... my wife doesn't work for you. He could wait for us to finish picking a red wine out and then put the bottle back himself.. what a strange little man. This was rude and uncomfortable. Again very disappointed. I've had a more positive experience at family fare. On a positive note I've had positive experiences with the woman working the store front/cashier in the morning. Very friendly and courteous, makes small talk and greets customers. Shoutout to the fine folks working in the deli as I've always had positive experiences with you lot. Thanks for reading. -John

Yelp
Visually beautiful interior of store! Huge selection of wine, liquor and beer. Unique selection of groceries. Delicious large selection of prepared foods. Pizza is great!

Beth A.

Yelp
Excellent selection of wine and beer. Groceries here tend to be more expensive than Meijer or larger grocery stores, but they also offer a good range of Michigan made brands. The owners and staff are always friendly and helpful. I also enjoy their selection of dairy free ice cream, although their other dairy free products are limited.

Jazz M.

Yelp
The dessert at Martha's Vineyard is like art. I was flabbergasted when I stumbled upon the hand crafted dessert section, hidden in the left corner just beyond the extensive selection on wine. Which I will say, is impressive. They have so much to offer here! A rather large selection of wine, a good selection of craft beer, and a nice selection of assorted meat, cheeses, fresh fruit and snacks. Overall, I ended up taking home a lemon bar (tart and delicious), baklava (deliciously layered and slightly savory) and a bottle of wine. What takes me back is the prettiness of the desserts, they really do look as if time was taken on them and they resemble edible art. L O V E!

David C.

Yelp
Run run run to this place! So very glad we discovered this place while visiting Grand Rapids. It has an excellent selection of wine and cheese and unique snacks and grocery. Great beer selection and some really good prices. And the star is the bakery!!! We indulged two days in items from the bakery. Pumpkin bar, tiramisu, filled cupcake, and canolli--all were superb! This gem is not to be missed.

Ashley K.

Yelp
Lovely selection of everything good within the same block. My favorite place to pick up a pizza, bottle of wine or a picnic basket that they make and head to the park during the summer.

Sheila K.

Yelp
Totally amazing store. Very knowledgeable staff. Desserts area amazing, tons of wine and cheese to select from. Love this place

Uyi O.

Yelp
They were open on Sunday I'm the Grand Rapids area. They were courteous and professional.

Jamie N.

Yelp
This store has such a great wine and cheese selection. Their bakery is delicious as well. They sometimes have free wine tasting which makes for a good time. It's definitely a specialty food store, so it tends to be a bit more expensive.

Ashley J.

Yelp
Martha's is a great neighborhood market. Deli in the back has ready to go sides, desserts, and vegan options. I like to go for their wine and chocolate selections you cannot find anywhere else. They have staples if you are out of something and don't want to go to a big box store. They also have a lot of local options to support other small businesses. The people working are always very helpful and pleasant. I love going to Marthas & neighboring Nantucket Bakery.

Emily N.

Yelp
Lots of vegan grocery options. Large fake cheese variety and mock meats too. The deli has delicious vegan food and about 5 v desserts that are tasty!! Try the falafel!!! Dairy free ice cream cookie sandwich in the very front. Yum!!

Annie J.

Yelp
Perfection. An institution A gourmet package store Ice cream. Lots of it. The good stuff. Deli with homemade goodies by Mom Mini gourmet grocery store with homemade pastas, scrumptious chocolates as well as your basic childhood junk food dreamy options. Hipsters, geeksters. Little kids, oldsters hang out here alike. In a great neighborhood. Go. Conquer.

Michelle G.

Yelp
It's been a while since I have gone inside. We get all our stuff delivered. I was so impressed and felt like I have been missing out. The fruit and vegetables were excellent quality. Vegan and gluten free choices are plentiful and got a wonderful treat from the bakery to top it all off! Really enjoyed my shopping experience.

Chris I.

Yelp
First class organization all the way. It's a bit more expensive but worth every penny! Customer service is king here! I dropped a six pack and broke all the bottles by accident and they came running to the rescue. I was so embarrassed but they made me feel like I was more important then the six pack they lost in profit! Martha's will always have a my hard earned dollars!

Aimee S.

Yelp
Fantastic staff that will even special order cheeses you crave from your parents' upbringing. The selection is phenomenal. Convenient to downtown. Top notch pastries in the case and truly great, caring customer service. A real gem that even offers curbside.

Elyse A.

Yelp
I LOVE when I get a chance to stop by Martha's! Such an awesome store! The staff is SO friendly and very willing to help you with whatever questions you have, recommendations, etc. They make wine, cheese, beer, or ANYTHING buying a joy. The wine selection at Martha's is outstanding - great selection (with a TON more upstairs): every price point and variety of wine you could want. They are SO knowledgeable and helpful when it comes to wine! The have a lovely display case of cheese and meats, pre-made foods (ready to eat) that are all mouth-watering, a dessert case to make you drool, bakery items, canned items, chocolates, nuts, etc. Such a fun specialty shop when you are in the market for unique and delicious items. They have a small but nice variety of beer, ice cream, and produce, too. I have come to Martha's a few times when I had the need for gift baskets. I have created my own but they will also create one for you with whatever parameters you need (item variety, price point, etc. ) They just redid the store and the new layout is very nice and open. They have Martha's pizza next door now, which looks heavenly! Also notice a nice little Pooch Post outside the door for those walking their dogs and wanted to run in for a second. I can't say enough good things about this little shop. From the staff to the food.. all around a fun, enjoyable, and memorable place. Love stopping in!

Tim Cindy E.

Yelp
Never disappointed. Always amazed at the wide selection of amazing food, wine, and BOURBON. And the staff is second to none. Thanks for always making my day!

Sarah B.

Yelp
First of all they are open until midnight on Sundays - which was awesome and super convenient. The guy working was friendly and helpful. The selection of cheese was excellent and they had exactly what we were looking for. They had a very impressive deli with pre-made dishes and a huge selection of high quality wine. They also had an abundance of crackers and jams available, as well as a fairly large grocery section. Parking available right up front, pizza place attached, and prices were reasonable. This is a gem and GR is lucky to have this place.

Mary G.

Yelp
Little did I realize when asking the wine guy working last night for organic wines I was asking to be mansplained into near unconciousness. Dude went on ad nauseum answering questions never asked with his opinions which veered convieniently from facts. After what felt like way too long I gave up on the several bottles I'd intended to buy, grabbed one and ran for the register, stopping at the chocolate long enough to hear the guy talking about me to a random customer. Way to be professional little wine guy! I'm in Grand Rapids for the first time visiting a friend who owns a home here. Both of us love good food and wine but will be avoiding night visits to Martha's in the future

Anna P.

Yelp
Martha's is part of Nantucket Bakery, they are owned by the same people. it's a nice, healthy convience store. it's a bit expensive because they have such a nice building, but it's worth it. they always have awesome beer, lots of ciders, tons of wine and plenty of liquors. the cheesecake is awesome here. it's so frickin' rich but great. also, they have wine and beer tasting every friday and saturday. i've sampled some awesome fig leaf cheese. they sample sausages too, and my guy tells me they're pretty good.

Christina C.

Yelp
What I expect from Martha's: A pleasant experience Quality products Friendliness What I get from Martha's: Attitude Poor customer service People who act like they are disgusted in me even in there People who are lazy Rudeness I don't even really mind the prices being higher at Martha's, it's the atmosphere that bothers me. If I go in and one of the ladies are working there, i am so happy because they are much more polite, kind, and helpful than ANY of the men. The ladies give me a smile and it just makes my whole day! Any time I interact with one of the guys, especially in the evening, they just look at me like they don't even understand why I'm in here and i feel judged. They don't smile, they don't wish me a good night, they look like they hate their lives and seem like they are too uppity to try to positively impact any one's life. Coming from someone who has worked in customer service for 7 years, i know exactly what I'm looking for and they definitely lack in this way. If they had more positive people there, this place would have no bounds. Now i only go if I REALLY need something ASAP but it will only be 1 item because I'm not trying to be there any longer or spend any more money than I have to. This place could be epic, but it just seems like they don't want to go the extra mile with customer interactions. Such a fail.

Kristin B.

Yelp
Just went for the first time this week, and I was impressed. I was short a specific bottle of wine for a tasting class, and came here to hunt it down. Easily found it, but took my time and enjoyed wandering the bottles. Staff was friendly and helpful, everyone was masked up so everything was cool there. Just a delightful trip all around.

Jaron A.

Yelp
I'm a third generation supporter of Martha's.You can get anything you need to eat or drink with class and style here. You get what you pay for- it's pricey but the staff knows what they are talking about, the quality is as good as it gets, and they have a beautiful well-curated selection of products. It's tough to decide what to get, but they will help you with that. Just ask. Try everything they make in house, and find a lot of locally made products to support. I know first-hand that they treat their employees well, and that's why most people who work their stay for years.

Len R.

Yelp
How could I live without this place in my neighborhood I buy cheese, salads, aperitifs , wine from the bargain table and a certain specialty liquor. Great food to choose from but laid back

Ryan C.

Yelp
The best fine wine shop in Grand Rapids. The staff is educated, kind and friendly. Truly a pleasure to be able to stop in here when ever I am in Grand Rapids.

James R.

Yelp
I was directed here by a brewery to find some local beers I can't get in Illinois. I was not disappointed. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly, answered my questions about what beers I could only find local and which ones where not shipped out of the state. They had a great selection and I ended up buying a bunch of six packs, some individual bottles and a four pack. If you are looking for a good selection and friendly staff. You need to go here!

Yelp
Fantastic selections of everything you need from quick ingredients for dinner or full on picnics or dinners. The prices are high but the quality of selections are worth it. They also have a great selection of sandwiches made as a grab and go option as well as sushi from Maru. Parking can sometimes be tough but walking distance from anywhere in Heritage Hill helps.
