"Ask anyone who’s been to Lisbon with kids and they’ll tell you to check out Martinhal, a mini-chain of luxury hotels and resorts across Portugal that bakes “kid-friendly” into its DNA. The Chiado location in Lisbon is a five-star experience without having to push past pomp and circumstance to get to your room. Studios, one- and two-bedroom apartments are colorfully decorated (bold prints in jewel tones) but practical, with a fully stocked kitchen (stove, dishwasher, etc), washer-dryer, and bunk beds for the kids. Better still is the kids’ club, for ages 6 months to early teens, that offers babysitting services and pajama parties; a “baby concierge” that will supply baby cots, bottle warmers, baths and potties on request; and a cool cafe with a car parked indoors that kids can scramble in while you kick back a coffee." - Laura Dannen Redman

This hotel was amazing for me and my family of 4. I have a 2 year old and 5 year old and they were both welcomed with open arms the second we arrived. They were scooted into the little kids playroom while we unloaded our luggage and Marta gave them stuffed animals and a little welcome bag. The location was great, they helped us set up a little sight seeing tour in a vintage car. Breakfast was yum. They gave us a complimentary upgrade and the apartment was wonderful. So spacious and they even put some milk in the fridge and fruit on the table. They had everything you could need for little kids and it just made our trip so wonderful.

Traveling internationally with young kids is not always easy, but choosing here as our base made it feel so much easier! Our entire family, including our 4 and 6 year old kids felt welcome from the moment our taxi arrived outside the building. The staff is exceptionally kind and accommodating. We stayed in a 1 Bedroom Deluxe Apartment, which was perfect for our family of 4. Having space in central Lisbon was amazing and made our stay so much more comfortable than a traditional hotel room. The kids club was absolutely incredible!! My kids have been talking about it since we left and both said it was one of their favorite things in Lisbon. As a parent, we felt totally secure leaving them with the staff, which gave us the flexibility to explore some things the kids wouldn't have loved as much and had a dinner out alone. The kids loved the activities at the kids club, and had so much fun. It was truly a win-win! I would absolutely recommend for any family visiting Lisbon!

We had a wonderful stay here! We loved that the hotel room was so baby-friendly (crib, high chair, no sharp corners on furniture, etc). It had everything we needed and was clean, beautiful, and spacious. Hotel staff were friendly and helpful. Location was perfect--quiet enough to get a good night's sleep but walking distance to restaurants and tourist attractions.

We spent 3 nights in a one bed apt. It was spacious and clean with everything we needed although the bathroom was a little snug. Location was great- in the heart of Lisbon. Windows had shutters to block out street noise. The staff were welcoming. We didn’t get much chance to use kids club but staff were friendly. It is pricy but worth it. Would stay again

I never write hotel reviews but we were so impressed with the hotel that I had to share. This was our first trip out of the country with our 16 month old and the hotel had everything we needed set up when we arrived. We loved the kids zone and the babysitting service, it was something I’ve never seen before and wish more hotels did. The staff was so kind and helpful and we have no complaints about our stay. Highly recommend staying here if you bring your children to Lisbon!

Great 1 week stay with 2 small children. Superb location and fantastic facilities. Fully stocked kitchen. Spacious 1 bed apartment. Kids club was fantastic including the evening pyjama club. Highly recommend. Didn't use the restaurant at the hotel so can't comment.

I feel like 3.5 would be a fair rating, but since that is not possible i’ll give it 3 stars. The rooms were nice and spacious, with a dishwasher, washing machine, cutlery and a good kitchenette. However, for a 5 star hotel it is quite underwhelming. The noise isolation is terrible, you can hear EVERYTHING going on outside of the room, both in the streets (and keep in mind Chiado is known for its night life, so as a light sleeper, hearing drunk people laughing at 3 AM was not pleasant) and also on the hallways (and there are looots of kids). The bedroom was pretty clean, but the bathroom, unfortunately, was not. For a 5 star hotel (that is definitely not cheap) not many services were offered. While the staff were nice, room service was not available, breakfast was not included, cost a lot and looked extremely underwhelming. In terms of location, it is close by to the nicer, more vibrant part of Chiado, but keep in mind it’s located on a VERY steep street, so DEFINITELY not baby carriage/wheelchair/disability friendly.

Very nice apartment in the heart of Chiado. Word of caution: located on a steep hill. The staff were friendly, helpful, and courteous. The room was large with a full kitchen, fridge, high chair, complimentary milk, water, and coffee. We were a couple, no children, but there was a kid's center you can leave your children. The breakfast was far more than a continental style. Eggs to order, full array of fruits, meats, cheeses, breads, fresh squeezed juices. Highly recommend for families. Although the bars and party scene are right down the street.

Yelp
If you're planning on doing a family trip to Lisbon, this is the hotel to stay at! This is a hotel with families in mind. The hotel staff are extremely friendly and kid-oriented. In the lobby, there's also a Kids Club that offers daycare at all times of the day; the staff there were really good at making the kids comfortable. We were assigned room 002, which was the size of a small apartment, with a bedroom that had a king size bed and bunk beds situated in the family room. I know bunk beds can be nerve wracking with little kids, but the hotel had bumpers installed for safe sleeping. Location wise, you're in the heart of the city with lots of restaurants and shops within close walking distance. It'd be hard not to recommend this hotel, unless you are traveling with no kids or on a business trip.

Yelp
Absolutely amazing place to stay. Staff was awesome, breakfast was good and as you can expect. The staff there was great. If you have young kids this is the place. The rooms were very spacious and they had a crib waiting for us. I will stay here again if I find myself here in Lisbon. Pros: Quiet Friendly Food is great Staff is amazing Room size Price Kids play room Cons: None for me except maybe having to walk the hills!

Yelp
Stay here! Families with toddlers and babies! Stay here! The staff is amazing and they have babysitting services for shifts - 9:30-11:30 and 4:30-6:30! Then there is adhoc services which we will be taking advantage of we we hit a fado! The rooms are so comfortable and centrally located to all of the amazing restaurants and transport hubs!!! It is insane how close things are to us and they are a cab ride away which is actually cheaper than the trams ;). So stay here and take advantage of the amazing services for family restaurant bookings ... they have the best recommendations!! And they come there too!!

Yelp
Wow! This is a Hotel? We stayed in a "2 bed suite" Trust me this is not a suite, this is is a stunning huge apartment with impeccable decor, furniture and fittings. It feels more like home than well... Home. It's a beautiful old character building in a wonderful location. With that in mind, there is a tad more noise from the floorboards above than a modern building. However such was the delight of staying in such a wonderful apartment it was a total non issue. The kitchen is really nice and superbly equipped with why seemed to be brand new high end utensils. It had a washing machine/ dryer and a nice dishwasher too. The living room was super bright with 3 big French doors w shutters onto a narrow wrap around balcony. The views?? Just gorgeous onto the river, Christ statue and the 25 Abril "golden gate bridge" Of course what this hotel brand concept is based around is 5 Star luxury but centered around families (not just the kids or the adults... both aspects) and that is shown in the second bedroom has 4 bunk beds that fold into the wall. High end quality beds that are very safe. The sheets seem to be Egyptian cotton high thread jobbies throughout. The bathrooms have 2 rain showers, marble and a very comfortable tub in the master. The location is just really to die for, 2 minutes to river and the train station to Cascais, and 7 minutes to the Baixa arch. Hundreds of cool bars, restaurants and shops around in trendy hip Chiado. The staff are reserved but very warm and friendly for the most part, which is reflective of Portugal's low key and very unassuming warmth in general. Amazing place... I wish them the very best success.

Yelp
We loved this hotel, and our kids REALLY loved it. There's a kids club where you can casually drop your kids off during regular waking hours. For other hours there are babysitters available. Our suite struck the right balance between kid-friendly and tasteful for grown-ups. Rita did an excellent job of making our whole family feel welcome. Highly recommend Martinhal!

Yelp
Wonderful stay in this extremely kid friendly hotel. Our room had baby gates at the top and bottom of the stairs (1 bedroom loft style apartment), baby high chair, crib, and even a toddler stool in the bathroom! Quiet, clean and modern rooms with full kitchens. Also have kid friendly menus at the cafe downstairs and daycare services provided. They also have a kid play room that's open to use. Location is in the old town short walk to the water or the shops.
