*Edit: While Martin's food is definitely still a 10/10 and they would constantly forget my extra toppings, and always charge me for them, I have to come edit my review for the customer service.
I called and placed an order for pickup, Senaya answered the phone. Ordered my usual with extra toppings. I go to pick it up, and I'll start with - Senaya was wearing a navy (maybe black) pullover that read "OVER IT" - white CAPITAL letters ---just so you understand the type of employee this is at work. Anyway, I had already been there 4 times within the week, but I love Martin's food so much, that won't stop me from going there. I get there and I check the bag to make sure all of my items were in there, because like I said they have forgotten them multiple times. They weren't in there and I nicely asked for them and she said "yeah they are I took your order. They're in there." Ok, but you didn't make my order, but I politely said, "do you want to see?" And she doesn't say anything, just rolls her eyes, and sucks on her straw, staring me down. That's fine, because someone else helped me. The entire time she is just staring at me, mouth still on that straw, in her "OVER IT" sweatshirt on the job. It was all so ugly. I was over them constantly forgetting things that I pay for, and making me feel like the inconvenience asking for what I paid for. Not to mention another employee telling me how they understand, because they know they hardly put any toppings on to begin with, and their manager is adamant that they charge everyone for every little extra thing ---the manager who the week before made sure to shout from the back, "I just want to let you know we are giving you this and didn't charge you for it," and I said, "oh thank you because I ordered that the other day and didn't get it." It was just so weird she had to share her act of kindness for not charging me for something that honestly cost them nothing. I don't want anything free and like I said I would continue to go back, because I love their food, but THAT - no, thank you!
And the week before I purchased something at the counter and paid cash. I got in my car and the cashier was screaming "wait, wait, your payment didn't go through." I was confused because I paid cash but still went back in because, I don't know? I got to the counter and she said, "your payment didn't go through," and I said, "I paid cash," and she said, "oh yeah." It was 10 am so luckily no one was there, but do you know how embarrassing that would have been if it was during a busy time, and you're basically being accused running out with your things -stealing! So embarrassing. The food is so good, but I had to share this. I don't like leaving this kind of review at all, but I felt like I wasn't being truthful in my previous review about the service behind the counter ~ OVER IT, just like Senaya.
Food is 10/10
Ambiance is 10/10
I love Martin's! Beyond their alcohol selection! Swift service whether you place an order for pickup or dining in. They have great selection of candies and cafe food in the fridge to purchase to go.
My current favorite that I can't get enough of weekly is the Sena Salad. It is a popular salad they have, but you can never go wrong with the Sena Salad - pulled oven-roasted chicken on field greens with golden raisins, bleu cheese & pecans, tossed in Tabasco pepper jelly vinaigrette. I like to add bacon bits, extra blue cheese & pecans. Also, it's Oschner Eat Fit Approved.
LOVE the Reuben sandwich. - typical Reuben- grilled corned beef, melted Swiss, sauerkraut & Russian dressing on rye.
Lindy Special - a favorite to me! oven-roasted turkey, Swiss, housemade coleslaw, tomato & Russian dressing on 7-grain. I don't like coleslaw, but I enjoy me some Martin's coleslaw!
Cedric - another favorite - thinly-sliced roasted chicken breast, Swiss, fresh spinach, red onions, tomato, and mayo on 7 grain
The Californian is always a good sandwich - oven-roasted turkey, havarti, avocado, spinach, cucumber, tomato, Creole mustard & mayo on wheat or pita (you can opt to make it veggie)
You can order online for pickup or have it delivered. I recommend calling and picking up. Dial +1 (504) 896-7300 & then press 2 & then press 2 again to get straight to the deli to place your order.
I wish I had pictures of the other items or the other things that I purchased.
Oh, they have THE BEST unsweetened tea in the city. It's SOO good.
Shoutout to the managers, Earl and Sean, for holding it down!
So much more than wine!
