Where To Eat & Drink During Mardi Gras 2025 - New Orleans - The Infatuation

"The smartest food to eat during a parade is something you can eat with one hand and no utensils while standing up. You’ll find a lot of that at Martin’s, a grocery and liquor store near the Uptown parade route that sells really good, reasonably priced to-go sandwich combo meals. Go with the $14 bagged lunches, which get you cold-cut sandwiches smeared with Creole mustard, along with some chips and pasta salad. The charcuterie boards and salmon plates are lovely, yes, but are you really going to be forking a huge hunk of fish during the parade? While you’re there, consider buying a bottle of booze and some throwaway shot cups, so you can barter with the riders for those prized throws." - megan braden perry

I decided to try Martin Wine Cellar for lunch on a Thursday. Parking was plenty, but cramped (if that makes sense). I suggest getting there before 11:30am because the lunch area was extremely busy by noon. They have a nice selection of sandwiches and salads. I ordered the Deli Deluxe sandwich with potato salad. It took a long time to get my order, and there were only 2 other tables there when we ordered. When I finally got my order, it was wrong. The staff were really nice about it and willing to fix it, but I had another long wait. I absolutely loved the potato salad and the sandwich not so much. The onion bread was too thick for the amount of meat (pastrami and corned beef) and the pastrami wasn’t easy to chew. I’m most definitely willing to give them another try due to the delicious looking cold salad and dessert options. Happy hour is 4 - 7 and the small bite menu looked appealing, so I plan in trying that in the near future.

Stopped by for lunch and was delighted at the bistro setting in a liquor store no less. Friendly service - thank you very much. The Salmon BLT, and the tunafish and the Californian were all DELICIOUS! The was Special was delicious. It was a prosciutto and Brie sandwich with a fig jam. Everything was fresh and tasty. I just found out you can bring your wine over to the dining area and have it with your snacks. And -OMG- the cheeseboards are beautiful & also delicious.

Google
Just ordered a great wine at an excellent price to be delivered in Houston, TX. Spoke with Ms Emilie LaRuth on Monday morning and wine was delivered on Tuesday evening. Won’t hesitate todo it again.

Google
Emilie Leruth was wonderful. She handled ever detail and made sure our order was promptly sent . She even provided her own bubble wrap for a jar of Arnaud Sauce.

I went here for the Belle Meade Bourbon dinner. The dinner was excellent. There were foods on the dinner that I didnt normally like but had me ready to lick the plate. I sat at the table of Chris Jones, the VP of Sales for Nelson Greenbrier Distillery. The conversation was great. Had some great bourbons with each course. The Cask Strength Bourbons were really good and were paired well with the dinner. Did I mention I was ready to lick the plate in front of polite company in public???? Food and spirits were so good. The dinner was well worth the $80 ticket price. Would gladly do this again.

Google
Best kept secret in Metairie! Great ambience and food. Saturday brunch is a must. Salads are huge! All items are well prepared in this deli. Expanded selection of meats. Fresh lemomade is very good and very sweet...

Google
Came in to check out the sandwiches for the first time. I landed on the 6x13 and it was great! The staff was so nice and the price for a sandwich, chips, and a drink was right on point. I can't wait to try a few more options here!

George G.

Google
After almost a year I finally found the best liquor store in New Orleans area. Huge bourbon selection and spot on pricing, they also have many store picks to offer.

Yelp
The best catering and lunch spot for the last 3 decades and counting. Never disappoints. So many choices for gourmet food and wine.
google avatar

DD D.

Yelp
This is a great spot to get your spirits and wines without all the excessive foot traffic. There's a good variety of items also. They also serve things like sandwiches. I didn't try the food this time. But it was a pleasure to pick up what I need and be out quickly.

Yelp
The food is awesome. The service is second to none. The ambiance and architecture is very unique.

Yelp
So Martin's is no secret to the locals in Metarie as is evident any day during lunch. The bistro in the front of the store is always busy! The deli bar is over the top with selections of great meats cheese and wonderful pate'. They are primarily a wine/spirits retail and they always have featured wines throughout the store and the bistro. The breads or at least my favorite come from a local bakery. It is good to go a little early or stay a few minutes after to shop some of the interesting food and wines. Browsing can be fun and you will likely never leave empty handed! All in all it has become a go to place for me for lots of things!

Yelp
Went for the Bougie Wine and cheese event this past friday. While the cheese selection was phenomenal the wine portions were dismal. There didn't need to be a half glass pour but more than the two sips that were given. Truly disappointing as the wine was delicious!!

Yelp
We went for lunch at 11:30 on a Friday and the dining room was busy ! Lots of people and movement. Ordering was fast and they bring to your table. I had the Martin salad which was amazing !! Had everything I on a salad. I ate every single bite. I also got the roast beef to go for my dinner. The bun was tasty and piled high with meat. It was very good my friend bought a grilled vegetable sandwich and she said it was ok. Not great not bad. Probably would try something different next time. I would most definitely get my salad again !! But there are other things on the menu that I also wish to try The lemonade is very good and in BIG glasses. Definitely will be back

Yelp
Came by to order some food for a catering event and the lady at the counter was so helpful and friendly!! She helped me decide what to order and packed it beautifully!! The restaurant was super busy so it was a little bit loud but not too loud that we had to shout over each other. They have the best GOURMET sandwich tray !!

Yelp
It's a sad day in paradise. I've been a regular customer of Martins for years. I love this place HOWEVER I just had the worst experience ever from there. I ordered my favorite Ruben after Steins. But this is not the same Ruben I typically get. They forgot to put sauerkraut on it and the Russian dressing. when I brought the sandwich back to the counter the cashier was dripping with attitude. But the worse part was the sauerkraut they put on it was minimal. Very small scoop in the center. I could not taste anything so I tried it by itself and it was tasteless. The corn beef was just ok . Worst sandwich as a whole that I have had in a long time. $18 for the sandwich and a Diet Coke and I still can't get over the attitude of the cashier. So Sad but I still have Steins for my Ruben.

Yelp
Great service. Nice people. Always order Rueben or chicken and tuna salads. Always bring a few bottles home. Going back next week

Ann M.

Yelp
I've been going to Martins for decades and see a decline in quality lately. I ordered my usual Sena salad. It looked liked sliced chicken instead of pulled. About 1/3 of the chicken had a dark pink look to it and the other 1/3 looked hard like it was the end or gristle. Also, hardly any nuts or raisins in the salad. I left hungry cuz I was afraid to eat about 2/3 of the chicken on the salad.

Yelp
I absolutely love Martin Wine. They have a great selection of wines and spirits... probably why they are changing their name to just Martin's. But this is a wonderful place to get wine and ask questions if you aren't sure, there are plenty of well informed and knowledgeable staff members eager to help you. They have free tastings every Friday. Like 3 or 4 wines to taste. They have their amazing events that include wine tastings and spirit tastings, but my ultimate favorites are the wine pairing dinners by my favorite chef in the city, Jordan! He can make me eat oysters because he cooks so freaking well! I would love for him to cook for me personally, he is truly talented. Also, other staff that are talented and knowledgeable are bow-tie Blake. He is passionate and really explains things so well, but not just well, he explains them and markets them, like you want to drink what he is talking about right now. He was really born for this role. Brandon is another wonderful joy as is Alex. I also enjoyed going to one of their Sunday brunch parties. My goodness, what delicious food on the buffet and botomless yummy beverages. So good, I hope they plan more of these. I absoltuely love the events and hope they continue and add even more events to the calendar. They are reasonably priced, planned and organized well, and just overall very fun and laid back. I LOVE Martins! I'd give it 10 stars, if I could.

Yelp
Love the Californian sandwich. The staff is helpful with selection and purchase of wine. No discount on cases.

Yelp
Food is always very good. Prompt service at the times I've been there. The wines I've purchased have all been very enjoyable.

Yelp
LOVE Martin Wine Cellar & their deli! Their new Caprese sandwich was delicious--I ordered it pressed, which I highly recommend. The Lindy Special and The Sena Salad are classics of the deli, and I love them as well. I do wish the deli would start incorporating a side to come with sandwiches (bag of chips, side salad, etc.), but nonetheless, their sandwiches are amazing and this is a great place to grab lunch!
google avatar

Brittany J.

Yelp
I had the salmon board today for lunch. It was really good! Maybe a little bit overpriced at $18.95 for smoked salmon and some accoutrements, but it was nice to have a keto option.

Sara F.

Yelp
Bait and switch. Martin sent out an email promoting a certain fine wine at a great price. I ordered it and two other bottles. Somehow their computer system cannot perform simple arithmetic. It was on inventory until I spent money on something else. Once they had my order for two more bottles, suddenly the advertised wine could not be found. Don't order on line front Martin. You will never get that which was promised.
google avatar

Angela S.

Yelp
Salads are always wonderful here but first time getting the Asian salad and no cabbage and corn added?? What is going on? Incredibly disappointing. Otherwise a very good experience all the time.
google avatar

Groucho M.

Yelp
Both locations highly recommended. Actually a great business model. Legendary gourmet wine, spirits and luxury deli items. And terrific on site dining. Place your order in line and await prompt preparation and announced readiness. No limit to what you can order despite popular daily specials and posted menu selections. Great mix of locals, business people, retirees, and visitors. Go, observe, relax, partake, enjoy.

Yelp
Martin's has been a part of my life for years, for so many reasons. When I need a hostess gift, birthday gift, or am having friends over, they are a great resource for this wine ignoramous. When it comes to wine and spirits I have very little knowledge, but the staff here is always helpful. They've never steered me wrong, and they carry good wines and cover all price points. And they have a great selection of gifts for wine drinkers, cute wine gift bags, party extras like crackers, candy, wine buckets, etc. Now for the food...... Their deli is amaze-balls. Awesome sandwiches, salads, soups, cheeses and ready made party food. Their burgers are top notch, but take a time to cook, so place your order and be prepared to wait few minutes. I promise it will be worth it. Their catering is great too. I've ordered most of their menu and have always been impressed. I just love this place.

Yelp
The first thing that hits you when you walk in the door is the delicious smell of the kitchen. We had just eaten but everything smelled and looked so good. We just stopped by for some wine and the have a great selection.

Richard G.

Yelp
The Reuben is as good as any that I have had in the City. Lots of corned beef, Swiss cheese and sauerkraut-nicely grilled on rye. It takes a big appetite to finish in one setting. Great sandwich.
google avatar

Kunrui P.

Yelp
Great place for all of your wine and spirits needs! Examples of the great service I've seen - * The store employees are super knowledgeable, especially compared to other shops in the area, and give really good recommendations. * Bottles are to be fairly priced as well, at retail or fairly above their cost of goods. * I've asked for specific items they don't currently have in stock, and if possible they've offered to track them down for me. I'll be coming back for all of my bourbon shopping in New Orleans.

Yelp
Expected a little more toppings after 35 minutie wait on a salad. Granted this was probably not my salad. It was just taken off the counter after I asked for an update on my order and shoveled into a container by a counter girls bear hands(witch was fairly disgusting to watch after she was just touching phones, and money.)This box of plain lettuce that cost me 13$ will be going into the trash. VER highly recommend hiring a manager or expo.

Yelp
The day after Christmas, my mother and I came for lunch. As you can imagine, Martin Wine & Spirits was packed. How refreshing it was to find the entire waitstaff from the wine store to the deli so helpful, accommodating, and happy. Our food was delicious and all areas were so neat and clean. Again, let me say this was the day "after" Christmas. One would expect everyone and every commercial venue to be out of order... not here. That's Impressive and didn't go unnoticed. Kudos to you and your team!

Yelp
My hubby was looking for Diesel alcohol (I told him that name sounds bad for you ) for a tincture he is making. Martin's had it for half the price as other big name stores. While we were there I did some shopping too. I mean 2020 got me wanting some of my favorite vodkas. They didn't have Ciroc but I did get Ketel One. Y'all they have a clearance rack at the back of store!! I needed a good excuse to restock my wine rack!!! I even squeezed in a bit of holiday shopping for my favorite humans! I think they will be happy with their gifts. Oh, and they have pocket size bottles too, ya know, in case your traveling for the holidays.....

Julie D.

Yelp
Loved it!!! Went for lunch and some browsing through the beautiful wines and spirits. The food was so fresh and the service was friendly and prompt. I loved being able to enjoy a glass of Cava with my lunch. We'll be back when we're back in town.

Paul W.

Yelp
Went in doing some Bourbon hunting, when an associate named Kelly came by. She was very helpful and knowledgeable about what I was looking for and gave some great recommendations. I will definitely be coming back for some additional bourbon hunting in the future.

Yelp
Absolutely love Martin Wine Cellar for lunch. I never mind when they are busy because the food is so good! The taste of a typical New York Deli can be found here! My favorite menu items are the Sena Salad, European Salad, Lindy Special sandwich, and the Californian sandwich on wheat! All taste so good! The sena salad has such simple ingredients, but it all goes together so well. The lindy is awesome because of that coleslaw! Everything is also housemade which makes it even better!

Sally F.

Yelp
The prosciutto brie and fig compote sandwich on sourdough was divine today. Martin's was wonderful as always.Sally F.

Yelp
I have been here a handful of times. Looking for appetizers and finger foods, a special cheese, wine or champagne. They have a large variety with everything well labeled and sectioned off. Employees seem friendly enough. I have eaten at their deli and that is pretty good also. No cheap Boones Farm to be purchased here. Everything seems reasonably priced and everything is neat, clean and well organized.
google avatar

Yelp
I love Martin Wine Cellar for many reasons. They are so convenient when it comes to certain premade or precooked items for sale. I love that I can run in on my lunch break from work and grab a bit of chicken salad, and be back at work in just a few minutes. I also happen to seriously love their chicken salad! It's just like homemade without any of the hassle, and I love that it's just a few basic ingredients. They don't add any sugar, oils, or other weird ingredients. They even have a decent sized café in the store where you can sit and eat lunch or dinner. It's always packed at lunchtime which makes me even more grateful for the grab and go items they have in the case. They obviously have a large selection of wines for any occasion. If you're not sure what to get they always have a person staffed to help with any questions regarding the wines. Your pretty much guaranteed great help if they have the wine in stock, but it may be a little harder if they have to order some for you. I've never had any luck when I try to order a specific wine. This has not deterred me from shopping here. I've even recently found out that you can request donations through their website for non-profit organizations of your holding a raffle or auction. They did a 50/50 donation for the non-profit I'm a part of, and it really worked out well. Overall Martin Wine Cellar is a go to in my book.

Yelp
The meat and cheese boards are to die for! Some of the best that I've tasted and nicely priced as well. It's a great lunch spot for a quick bite to eat.

Yelp
Amazing sandwiches and fabulous selections !!! It's the perfect place to grab a great lunch and goodies for after

Yelp
I love this place! I had actually been here one time for a wine tasting and it was an awesome experience! When Covid hit I actually started following them on Instagram and come to find out I saw that they did curbside pick up! It was so easy to order, their prices are so reasonable for delicious wine and the processing/ pick up time was excellent. I am still not sure if they're still offering curbside but for a mom it makes it so convenient. This way I'm safe, baby is safe and mom still gets her wine! I have heard that their deli is amazing, will have to look into picking up lunch one day !
google avatar

Wanda N.

Yelp
Great customer service! I was able to purchase 2 wine and 2 gift bags to gift my mom for her bday and my brother in law! Both of them really enjoyed the Caymus wine! Will definitely come back to purchase the wine here! Great selection of wine as well!
google avatar

Yelp
I've eaten and purchased wine at Martin's for years. I'm still sad they haven't reopened the deli Uptown again since Katrina but I still go to the Metairie location often to eat. They usually have multiple specials for lunch everyday. Over many years I think there was only one special I didn't like and it was due to just a bad and tough piece of meat that was a fluke. I have to say I did an experiment with eating the "Healthy" lunch option for 3 months and I actually gained weight so it is healthy in a New Orleans dining sense but not for the size of the belly :) They always have a great selection of wine, beer, and liquor with some very knowledgeable people to assist you. They have an amazing deli counter with all sorts of tasty looking desserts and food choices. They also have an entirely separate deli counter for a selection of some great cheeses. They also have a great sandwich and salad selection. Martin's also has pretty good & large burger that they fresh grind (so expect to wait at least 20 minutes for it) and they usually have a different daily burger special during lunch. I also enjoy the Sunday brunch here with the only complaint that I've heard is that they usually don't have bloody Mary's. The Metairie location has a decent size parking lot but it fills up fast around lunch. On really crowded days it can be hard to find a place to sit and they sometimes run out of silverware so there can be a bit of a wait. The best bet is to get there before the noon rush so you can enjoy yourself.
google avatar

Yelp
Came here to have brunch with a couple of friends on a Sunday afternoon. This was my first time here as I've always passed by, but never had a chance to actually see what they have. You can find a very large selection of wines and also liquor there if you are in need of a nice drink. They prices are reasonable to market price and not overly taxed. My review is based off of the deli section as we all enjoyed our meals. There is a lot to choose from wether you're hungry, or thirsty. On the weekends, they offer a bottomless mimosas, so we all enjoyed a few drinks from that. I ordered the hot roast beef on onion bread and it came out great with good flavors and not so soggy bread from the juices. Others many other dishes with good feedback. I will definitely be back to try other items on the menu, as well as enjoy the company of friends!

Yelp
If you aren't in a rush, this is a great place for lunch or brunch! They take a while to make your food but it is worth it. I like to order my food and then look around at the great cheese and wine selections! For brunch I got a breakfast sandwich on a croissant with a Tabasco aioli which was melt in your mouth delicious! My husband got the "egg special" which was a nice big salad with poached eggs. It's a really fun outing and if you go on a Saturday or Sunday they have bottomless mimosas!
google avatar

Nathalie A.

Yelp
Excellent deli and even better wine with an inviting atmosphere. The healthy special with shrimp mussels and crab in a tomato broth was perfect. The Californian on the croissant was savory and the pork loin sandwich was a bit dry but still delicious.

Yelp
After leaving unsatisfied from another restaurant, I came here. Love, love, love the wine collection. The staff is very knowledgeable and helpful when you're unsure which wine to choose. What's goes best with wine? Food! There is a deli that serves tasty food. Perfect for a quick lunch.

Yelp
Normally I have no issues at Martins. However, today I went with my daughter. She ordered the lemonade, pasta salad, French fries & a Caesar salad. I ordered the Sena salad and asked them to go very light on the blue cheese. Received order timely. The lemonade was so ridiculously tart it was impossible to drink. Her Caesar salad had the dressing on the side when she specifically asked for it to be poured on the salad because they usually pour it perfectly. My Sena salad had mounds of blue cheese when I asked for it to be very light and there was so little chicken on it that it could hardly be seen on the plate. Like I said, normally they do a pretty good job, However, not today. Someone was asleep on the job.

Yelp
Yesterday my husband and I went to the Rose Soiree wine tasting, and we absolutely loved it. There were twenty different rose wines to sample from all around the world, but mostly from the US, Italy, and France. My favorites were the wines from Italy and Oregon, though the rose vinho verde from Portugal was very tasty. One of my favorite parts of the experience was how friendly and knowledgeable the staff members were. There were also some flavorful cheeses and finger sandwitches, as well as prosciutto. I was very surprised by how much food was offered. A few years ago, we went to a champagne tasting at the Mandeville location. I actually enjoyed the snaller, more intimate energy of that event, but I have to admit that this experience was fairly impressive. We purchased one of the lighter Italian wines, and I plan to go back for some of the lovely pate I saw at the lunch counter.

Yelp
Martin Wine Cellar is well known for their great selection of reasonably priced wines and higher quality vintages. There is also quite a few reviews on their great lunches. We've now stopped in several times with friends on Friday nights to take advantage of Martin's for Dinner. You have to plan on eating early as they close at 8 pm. But that isn't a big deal for us. Both my wife and I are partial to the Californian sandwich, which is turkey, Havarti cheese, avocado, and sprouts on creole mustard in a toasted wheat pita. It almost sounds healthy. It's also very good. The Executive club is another good choice. The Steamboat is a large sandwich on an onion roll stacked with corn beef, ham, and bacon. I tried the Hamburger I had read so much about. I don't know if was dinner rather than lunch time, but it just didn't live up to expectations. But I didn't let that one experience ruin the review. So far, all the named sandwiches have been great. When we know we're going out later, we've had the cheese and fruit plate. They rotate the cheese so it's a different plate each week. Each time I buy the plate, I generally end up getting one or two cheeses I've never tried before. And that is what dining out is all about. Martin's offers several small plates as part of their dinner menu. Friends like the seared tuna, but I haven't tried it yet. I trust their judgment when it comes to tuna. There is also a small pizza on the nightly menu. It's one choice and it changes every week. The one pizza I ordered was a mushroom and veggie combo (meatless) on a thin crispy crust. Very light sauce. You have the option of soft drinks with the meal. Or you can wander out into the retail area and pick out (and buy) a bottle of wine to go with your dinner. I take advantage of this option and we have a bottle with dinner. And compared to what wine would cost in a restaurant, I get a tremendous upgrade in the quality of the wine. They have a nice dessert counter. I stand there and look at the various cakes, pastries, and pies... all crying my name, tempting me. It's such a hard decision, until that jealous glass of wine beckons me back to the table. And I drink my carbs... The prices are very competitive. Customer Service is great.

Yelp
Martin has a huge selection of wine, beer and liquor. I have found the staff to be friendly and knowledgeable. They post ratings on bottles so you can score a pretty good deal. I can't tell the difference between a $30 and $100 bottle most times, so my recommendation is to drink what you like. Brand and cost are unimportant if you enjoy drinking it. Villere's florist is close by so after you get booze you could get your significant other some flowers. I have been unable to locate MD 20/20 in orange jubilee or night train at Martin, but you can't have it all.

Yelp
The foodie in me LOVES this place. There is a vast selection of wines, liquors, beers, cheeses and anything else you would need to throw a great party. The cheapskate in me knows that you can get better, cheaper food at a few different places along Veterans Blvd. The lunch counter serves up a nice selection of salads and sandwiches, but they are a bit pricey.

This is for the Metairie location. I find the staff not friendly at all except for the sweet lady with red hair and lipstick in the cafe section/kitchen, she is so nice and full of smiles. I find the rest of the staff non-existent. They are present, but look like they don't want to be bothered and have that very "don't bother me look" on their faces. Maybe they are overwhelmed with the holidays, but I feel that I have felt this way other times I have shopped here. I ordered the Drum special yesterday to bring home for dinner and it was OMG delicious. Thank you! I wish they would post on facebook, etc. their daily specials. One time I needed those little wine bottles and they were out. I usually only need one glass not a whole large normal bottle of wine. They were very helpful in helping me order a case at no charge. They called when it was time to pick up and it was a very kind, effortless, professional transaction. So, if you need to order alcohol they did a flawless job for me and I recommend them for that. I appreciate that and thank you.

Yelp
After great experiences attending a couple parties catered by Martin Wine Cellar, and many visits to the Uptown location, my fiancée and I decided to use them for our wedding. This review covers our catering/rental experience with Martin, which was absolutely terrible. How they handled it from the manager on down, even after attempts to reach out, is shameful and cowardly. THE BAD: ***The spread of food was awesome*** ***Bartender was awesome and had a great attitude*** - One of our bartenders I had time to interact with before the reception was awesome and helped me serve a couple custom cocktails which were a big hit. THE BAD: ***Arrived late to the ceremony without notice*** - Martin was supposed to arrive an hour before the ceremony to serve lemonade and iced tea. Instead, they left some warm plastic jugs underneath a small, uncovered table. The server and the glasses/ice didn't arrive until after the ceremony started. It was 95 degrees for our outside ceremony so this was a big miss. ***Arrived late to the reception without notice*** - They were still setting up when guests arrived at the reception. This was exacerbated by the next point: ***ALL rental tables and chairs were set up incorrectly*** - Instead of putting tables/chairs inside/upstairs where we agreed, they were set up outside/downstairs. I have no idea how this happened as we did two separate walkthroughs and drew up a map together. At no time was outside/downstairs part of the plan. This was made worse by the fact that they were late setting up so guests were just standing around while they rearranged everything. ***Didn't bring the red wine we ordered*** -My fiancée he had plenty to sip on but prefers red wine so she made a point of choosing one for the wine menu even though it was a warm day. For an unknown reason, they didn't bring any red wine without informing us or offering a substitute. ***The bartenders put out a tip jar*** - Extremely tacky at a wedding IMO, especially when this was not a cash bar. THE UGLY: ***Unreachable on day of*** - Our main point of contact didn't answer her cell phone the day of, despite multiple calls trying to determine where she was/where the server was, etc. When I finally saw her in person, I asked why she didn't answer her phone and she said she "was busy" and walked away. ***Management was completely unresponsive*** - In an attempt to track down our point of contact the day of, I called the store directly. After no less than ten calls, many of which I was disconnected during a transfer, I was finally transferred to the manager, who promised to call our point of contact and call me back. He did not, and my numerous attempts to contact him afterwards went unreturned. What a coward!!! DO NOT GIVE MARTIN WINE CELLAR YOUR CATERING BUSINESS.

Yelp
This is the best wine merchant I've dealt with, hands down. My earlier review was for the deli--as I indicated there, it's a sold 4-star experience. But as a place to buy (and drink) wine, it's phenomenal. If I could pick one thing to pick up and move bodily to Texas, this would be it. I miss the place. Customer service. Price. Selection. It's got all 3. Customer Service: The wine staff is extremely knowledgeable about wine and very personal. They have an incredible depth of knowledge about the wine regions major and minor. These folks live and breathe wine. If you are a regular customer, they get to know your personal tastes and budget and are very good at suggesting things you should try. They don't push things on you that you don't want, they understand that the key to making money is to keep the customer happy and coming back. They treat everyone very well, from those who just want some Yellowtail to people ordering Burgundy futures. Price: The prices are very competitive. Just go to wine-searcher.com and you can see wine prices around the country. A lot of times I've found that Martin's has some of the best prices. Clearly, the best prices in town and from what I've seen in the last 10 years, the best prices in the South. Understand (if you aren't familiar with the industry) that they won't be the cheapest all the time; the system has a myriad of negociants, distributors, importers, and retail outlets and wine is bought and sold at various times (with fluctuating exchange rates) so one guy may have gotten a deal and another may not have. The places in Houston, where I just moved to, are significantly higher. Selection: They have the major and minor wine regions and a pretty good selection among them. Stock comes in and goes out, though, but it's the nature of the industry. You can always find Yellowtail here, but the 2007 Sang Des Cailloux comes in and eventually sells out. Months later it will be back, but only so much is made. Get it while you can. Cheers. Also--they have a reasonable beer and spirits selection as well.
