So this was a visit from before COVID, just to set the foundation.
A local suggested two pizza places for me, and after walking around Ashland for a few minutes, this is the one I chose. I ordered to-go, because the park is just around the corner and I really wanted to sit at the park and people-watch.
The order was for a mushroom and pepperoni pizza. I don't remember it taking a long time, but it was a weekday and towards sundown in the summer and there weren't a lot of people around. I take my cardboard box and sit it on the table right outside because I just can't wait to tear into it.
The pizza itself is thin and a bit crispy, not doughy; just how I like it! The pizza is generously sauced, and most importantly, the sauce is flavorful without being sweet or overpowering. The cheese level looks lower than you would see at most big chain places, but in reality is well balanced because not only is the sauce complimentary and crust thin, but the cheese itself is above average. If you think mozzarella is all the same, you owe it to yourself to try a real restaurant-grade, whole milk cheese. I'd bet that's what they use. The mushrooms were fresh and thinly sliced, meaning they were cooked through and not chewy. And lastly, the pepperoni is large, thin, and has just the right amount of spice.
All this can be summed up to say that this was probably the second-best pizza I've ever had. It was so good, I decided right there and then that I was going to have it for lunch the very next day before I left Ashland, and probably every time that I'm in town.
