My father and I have been loyal customers of Rivers Casino since the day it opened, and Martorano’s Prime used to be the place we looked forward to the most. After last night, that’s over — permanently.
We were eating at the bar, though I had to stand because no one on staff bothered to offer a chair or even acknowledge the situation. When a seat finally opened up, my 70-year-old father tried to move it himself since no employee could be bothered. The chair literally fell apart in his hands. Not a single staff member stepped in, apologized, or even pretended to care.
Eventually a different chair opened next to me, so I took it. Immediately, an off-duty casino employee who had been lingering behind us — with no food, no drink, no menu, nothing — suddenly claimed the chair as if she owned it. Instead of handling the situation professionally, she ran straight to the general manager, Matthew Arling.
What happened next was easily the most unprofessional behavior I’ve ever witnessed from someone in a management position. Arling approached us aggressively, made no attempt to understand what happened, and went straight to hostility. He didn’t ask a single question. He didn’t listen. He just escalated. Then, without any justification, he ordered us out of the restaurant and had us escorted out before we could even finish our meals.
We’ve spent years supporting this restaurant and this casino. We spend real money here. And to be treated like that — over a chair — is absolutely ridiculous. The lack of leadership, professionalism, and basic respect shown by Matthew Arling was shocking.
Martorano’s Prime was our favorite spot for years, but after this disgusting display from management, we won’t be returning. Ever.
