"This unassuming storefront in Richardson features minimalist Japanese interiors that are as austere as they are beautiful. Ramen comes in several varieties and includes braised pork belly (chashu), seasoned soft boiled egg, blanched spinach, scallion, shallot, and a mild shishito pepper, except for the vegetarian option." - Alaena Hostetter

Google
Great place to grab a bowl of really good ramen! Atmosphere is fairly quiet and and semi-modern, not very large with several 2 and 4 top tables. We tried the spicy tonkotsu ramen (delicious!) and the Tonkatsu which was also very good. The curry, katsu sauce and pickled veggies took a basic dish and elevated it. Will definitely visit again.

Google
Great atmosphere and service from everyone. The owner/manager even stopped by to ask how everything was. The black tonkotsu broth was great. A few items were extra salty, and the pork unflavored, but I'd definitely return for a second time. Also, the noodles weren't overcooked, just the right texture.

Google
Food was really good! I had the Yaki Udon it was delicious. Also had the Edamame came out fresh and hot:) and had the Mochi ice cream, vanilla first time trying it and im glad I did beautiful presentation and doesn't disappoint so yummy!

Google
Ramen was excellent, really good flavor. Highly recommend spicy tonkotsu one. Pork buns were also very soft and delicious. Ribs were nice and crispy as well, overall a very experience and I will definitely come back

Google
Ramen is good, the noodles is authentic and broth can be a little be more condensed. Just my personal opinion. Overall I would rate this place for 4.5! Service is great and absolutely worth a try!

Google
Ramen was 10/10 out of this world, and the sky agreed as well 😂🌈 Please please please try the fried octopus balls- they’re the best thing on the menu. I literally ordered a 2nd plate to go so I could enjoy later. Service was friendly, and the overall ambiance was awesome.

Google
Excellent service, atmosphere. Good prices and ramen was very large and filling for only 16$. However, the flavors were muted. Tonkotsu black was bland and felt like quantity of quality. Chicken karage was good but a but too salty. I would recommend it but in terms of "best ramen spots" this won't make top 5

Google
Great ambience. Everyone is super nice. The waiter was so nice. 10/10 experience.

Yelp
I've been here several times and have always loved it. I haven't strayed too much from my usual order because I like it so much and don't get down in that area very often, but I swear by their Spicy Black Tonkotsu Ramen with Hakata noodles. Service is friendly and the food comes out quickly. I have noticed that some times are better to go than others. It's not a very big place, so it fills up fast. Got there this last Thursday at 12:30pm and it was packed. I had to wait a few minutes for a table to open up and be cleaned, but it wasn't bad. By the time I finished eating, it was almost empty. I can see how it would stay busy on weekends.

Yelp
FOOD Spicy Tonkotsu Ramen - Great dish overall! The ramen noodles are great consistency that had a bit of chewiness and bounce to it (Sapporo Noodles). The dish was a bit on the spicier side but perfect for colder weather. Broth was super yummy and not too salty. The chashu was super tender and yum. The egg was a bit more on the cooked side so the yolk was not runny but it still had great taste! Presentation is also very nice. Definitely recommend this place! VIBES Seating consists of chairs and tables as well as long wooden benches. Tables are great size and fit food well. I didn't feel squished and layout gives nice space. Decorations are nice! A bit more on the casual atmosphere side but great for eating with friends, meetups, family meals, and pretty much any occasion to get ramen. SERVICE Service was great! They checked in on us often and refilled water quickly. No complaints here!

Yelp
The food here is delicious, but plan to come here on a weekday late in the afternoon when they aren't busy. We came during the Lunar New Year celebrations when the City of Richardson was having a festival in the Chinatown plaza where this restaurant is located. The restaurant was packed! We sat in the waiting area for 20 minutes before a table cleared. Once seated, we ordered drinks and foods immediately, but waited at least an hour for our hakata noodle ramen to show up. The food was delicious, but the wait was so long, we missed the entire festival taking place outside. It was chilly inside. Our table was near the kitchen and the front door, but even when the door wasn't open, it was quite cool inside. I'm guessing they had the air circulating for the wait staff and kitchen crew who were probably hot from running around all day serving everyone. It wouldn't have been so bad if we could have received our ramen sooner so that we could warm our insides with hot broth. The food was delicious, well my spicy tonokata was delicious. It was flavorful without being so spicy that your nose started running. lol! The hakata noodles were plentiful and delicate enough that you could break them without slurping continuously for five minutes. Ha ha ha! Seriously, I was super happy with the tangled nest of noodles. There were a lot! That made me very happy. Waitstaff were nice, apologetic about the wait, good about refilling our drinks on a regular basis. Price was about $44 with drinks. Not cheap, but average for the area. I would come back, but definitely in the off season.

Yelp
The wife and I stumbled on this place while caught in a heavy rainstorm. We couldn't imagine a better pit stop - tasty, warm ramen. Our server was a very pleasant and attentive young man and the ambiance was modern, cute, and clean. The ramen was excellent, with good proportions and we appreciated the tea eggs which had been seasoned with soy sauce and cooked to a perfect soft boil. The gyoza was nice and crispy and the fried chicken was very well seasoned with a light ginger glaze Highly recommend!

Yen P.

Yelp
Loved the beautiful interior and ambience of the place. I tried the tonkotsu ramen and takoyaki and both were good. Service was wonderful. Located in the Richardson Chinatown plaza.

Yelp
Walked in the restaurant on Friday night and it was busy. Ended up waiting 30 minutes to be seated. There was a party after us that was seated first then us which was fine since we were seated right after but our table wasn't wiped down. We were seated and we gave our order and drinks since we were waiting so long we knew what we wanted. Almost 10 minutes later still waiting for our drinks the appetizers came. The pork buns were bland do not recommended. They taste like I was biting into just cucumber. The gyoza was not crispy but soft like it was left out and also it was cold when we bite into it. Which makes me think someone ordered it and didn't take it or they made multiple and waited for someone to order it. Flavoring for the pork was okay. When we received the appetizers another server came and asked if we got water which I stated no we got soda which we got two minutes later. This was to the point where I knew they did not care not once did someone ask if we needed anything. Also the appetizers were given and 2 minutes later we got our ramen. Not enough time was given to at least finish our food. The ramen was okay. Very mild flavoring not enough broth. There was a good amount of noodles but you could not use the spoons to get any broth since there was barely any. Overall this was a disappointing experience it felt more in and out service eat quick and leave.

Olly K.

Yelp
They have the best bao buns in town that's not pictured because we ate it too fast!! The ramen were both amazing

German R.

Yelp
Great ramen and excellent hot teas. It was cold and wet outside and my wife was a bit under the weather and this place hit the spot. It's in a very Asian influenced shopping center, and the reviews make this place standout. Decor-minimalist at its finest, haha. These people did not spend much on decor, and the people keep on coming, so the food must be good. Service-was ok, nothing to write home about, but nothing to complain about either. Food-solid Ramen and Gyoza, but what I really liked was the hot teas. The Grapefruit and honey teas was amazing and I would get it again in a heartbeat. All in all, good place with solid food options.

Krishna T.

Yelp
My wife and I visited on Thurs evening for dinner. It was our first time, service was very friendly. We ordered spicy tonkatsu ramen (MUST try!), black tonkatsu, chicken karaage & chicken gyoza. My wife ordered the milk tea which wasn't too sweet, but very good! All the food came out quickly. A medium sized space with 15+ large tables. Will definitely be back!

Madalyn W.

Yelp
We got the spicy tonkotsu. broth and noodles were very good. The thin noodles are good but the thicker ones are slightly better. The pork was disappointing. It was hard, dry, and had little flavor. The pork buns were okay, nothing special. I wouldn't order them again. Lunch special is a good deal.

Khoa T.

Yelp
We tried Maru Ramen first time today. I ordered pork buns, spicy tonkotsu and creamy miso. The food is good. I really like my spicy tonkotsu ramen. My wife got miso, but she like my tonkotsu more than her miso ramen. If you live In Richardson area, I definitely recommend Maru ramen.

Richie K.

Yelp
Ramen is top notch! But don't forget to try their Pork Buns! So good! Ambiance is laid back and prices are fair!

Jenny T.

Yelp
Staff are friendly, good portions. Food comes out quickly. Takoyaki is awesome. The pork buns are good and free with check-in. Love it.

Jolene J.

Yelp
Solid bowl of spicy tonkotsu that definitely numbed my tongue with each additional slurp! It may not look it but don't be fooled, the spicy tonkotsu is definitely quite spicy! The takoyakis were one of the best also! I went with a group of 4 and the servers handled our split bills wonderfully. Right now they're running a special where if the table orders $80+ then you get a gift (for the table) which was a nice surprise!

Jennifer J.

Yelp
Been to this place twice because the ramen here is so delicious. Definitely one of the best in DFW. Wish I had a picture, but I was so hungry to remember to take one. Staff is also friendly and decor is simple and clean.

Paul A.

Yelp
The place is very nice and calm. The people here are very nice and friendly. And the food tastes amazing. We had takoyaki, pork buns, and the creamy miso ramen, definitely recommend.

Tim K.

Yelp
Had a great lunch! Loved the atmosphere and very clean. The service was quick. Stopped with my son on a guys day out.

Diamond H.

Yelp
I love this place because the environment is very nice. Makes for a really great place to have a date. The food is good and their servers are kind. My favorite dish would be their tonkatsu ramen. It's also nice that you get to customize the broth and choose your preferred noodle type.

Johanna A.

Yelp
Love coming here ! Amazing costumer service !! and the food NEVER misses i'm so glad my husband introduced me to this place , will definitely keep coming back !

Amber V.

Yelp
I thoroughly enjoyed my spicy ramen. Service was great. The restaurant is quiet and clean with attentive service.

Michelle T.

Yelp
We had the spicy tonkotsu ramen, vegetarian ramen and pork buns here for my best friend's birthday. It was her first time and she absolutely loved it. Would recommend.

Laura B.

Yelp
Delicious food and great service! Ambience is great! Best Ramen I've had. Very clean!

Nirmal F.

Yelp
I have been to this location on multiple occasions at different time periods. Every time I come there is consistency and quality without fail. I appreciate this location and the service provided. Great lunch and dinner spot if you're in the area

Gabryelle C.

Yelp
Can't recommend this place highly enough. Such a cozy atmosphere and the ramen was great! Great customer service. Will be coming back

Anisha N.

Yelp
I came to Maru Ramen with a large group on a Sunday afternoon. When we arrive we were told they were putting together a table for us, we ended up waiting about 30-45 minutes, which for a large group to accommodate it was understandable. But what we didn't know was that the shop closed in about an hour after we were seated. We only noticed when people started leaving, had we know that we probably wouldn't have come just to not inconvenience the workers. As a result we were rushed into our order and into eating quickly. Thankfully the food was hot and very tasty. The broth on my Spicy Tonkotsu Ramen was super flavorful, and everything tasted very fresh. The pork buns were tasty but would have been better with a sauce to accompany it. Towards the end we had issues with our bills but that happens more often than not in large groups. Overall I would give this place a 4/5, food was great but the customer service was not up to par in my opinion.

Louie L.

Yelp
Good noodles & Broth, nice decor, very comfortable, The wait staff was very friendly, responsive and attentive.

Angelica A.

Yelp
I really Like coming here. They have Nice staff, fast service with a clean environment. Fried dumplings where delicious.

Victoria D.

Yelp
I'm from California and Maru Ramen is my go-to ramen place in the Dallas area. The prices are good and the quality is great their pork bun sauce is yummy definitely try it when you come here!

Robin W.

Yelp
The food selection is great! The service is on par as well. The servers were helpful in the selections and letting us know about any promotions. The place is super cute and the benches are pretty comfy. The pork buns were super yummy and the ramen was delish!

Danny A.

Yelp
Came in here for a late lunch and ordered the pork buns, I enjoyed the greeny taste it had in addition to the pork.

Ebone' W.

Yelp
Of course...I wanted Ramen and I saw good reviews here when looking on yelp in search for a place. I was immediately seated and given water which I killed. I guess my body was like 'BOUT TIME' you hydrate me. Por server refilled that glass about 5 times...so much so, I apologized. Lol. She was cool with it though. Now the food; 3 stars because I wanted a more "punch" in the broth. I got the spicy tonkotsuz but it wasn't spicy and the Chashu was a little too tough for my liking. I appreciated that they allowed me to sub the value of my omitted egg for something else, so major props for that. I checked in yelp and got free pork Buns (which were good) and the gyozas were good too. I ate everything, and was satisfied. I'd return and try something different.

Terry P.

Yelp
One of the better ramen spots around. I like the Spicy Tonkatsu. Service is good. Seats aren't very comfortable but were tolerable

Ed S.

Yelp
It has been ages since I ate here. I was close by and stopped in last night. Still the same, wonderful atmosphere and polite staffing. Our waitress was awesome and prompt with everything from appetizers to ramen. The ramen is always amazing with your option to add additional toppings. I don't remember the iced milk tea but it is has been awhile. If you love milk tea, this is an item to order. It is very unique with a frothy top and tea underneath making it great with your ramen meal. They offered me free pork buns appetizers if we wrote a review. The pork buns were wonderful as well. I love this place and if you have not tried this place, please do, you are missing out. Ask them on the free pork buns for a review and see if it is still in effect.

David A.

Yelp
Spicy Tonkotsu Ramen- delicious! My favorite Ramen anywhere. Add Moonstone Plum Sake and enjoy.

Giovanni M.

Yelp
Me and a group of friends went to eat at this establishment because the food is actually good but at the end of us done eating the service people came with the check the total was about 50 dollars and paid with a 100 bill when the waiter came back with our change unfortunately we got confused with the receipt and thought we were still missing change then he came back to explain that we were wrong and we said was okay, ended up leaving a tip too, a few weeks later we come back and they tell us we're band because we tried to short change and didn't serve us that's crazy over a small misunderstanding

S K.

Yelp
The pork buns are very tasty. The texture and flavor are a nice balance. I ordered the mango frappe. It was good and not too sweet. The iced beverage hit the spot on a 101 degree day.

Lauren H.

Yelp
Wonderful wait staff and probably the best ramen in DFW!Creamy Miso RamenSapporo NoodlesTonkotsu Ramen

Marisa R.

Yelp
Has the pork buns and edamame! Both were excellent with and the pork buns had a lot of flavor. The music choice was great, very relaxing - throughly enjoyed our whole dining experience!

Hoa L.

Yelp
Average ramen and good service. It's in a convenient location with ample parking. It's a basic ramen shop, but don't expect deep flavors in your soup. Miso and tonkotsu soup were basic and noodles average. You know you are eating ramen, but you probably won't be dreaming about the soup and pork chashu. The inside is very modern and clean with plenty of light and small tables perfect for small groups. I would not order the takoyaki as I've had it better elsewhere.

David R.

Yelp
Considering that ramen is a very good dish but easy to mess up, this ramen joint excels with a variety of tasty noodle options and priced fairly. A simple yet authentic environment to enjoy a tasty meal. Highly recommend trying this place.

TaKaira L.

Yelp
When you first walk in it such a calming and smoothly atmosphere. The servers were soo nice and sweet! They recommendation was spot on. I will most definitely come back again. The food was pretty good, must try the pork buns.

Victoria P.

Yelp
This ramen place was okay and I might visit again if I was in the area, but I wouldn't drive again for this ramen. The atmosphere is nice if you don't mind bench seating. They had some tables with chairs but also several picnic style wood tables. It is very minimalist and evokes a feeling of nature. I like it, but if you're looking for something comfy then this isn't the place. Overall, the atmosphere was simple and nice. The food wasn't bad by any means, but it wasn't really that good either. The broth lacked any depth of flavor. I've lived in Japan for 6 years and am somewhat of a ramen seeker since I've been back to the states and this ramen really falls short compared to others. I did like that the menu clearly lists all the toppings in case you want to remove something you dislike. If you order a drink it is in a can and served with an ice glass--so no refills. I am fine with this, but for people used to fountain drinks and refills they might not like it. Overall, I'm glad I tried it but the lack of flavor and depth of the broths makes it highly unlikely I would return.

Diane P.

Yelp
The ambiance is of a modern Japanese classroom, light lighting, calm mellow music so you can still enjoy your conversation! Servers are always around making sure everyone is accompanied, which made the service easy whenever we need something! The food makes us feel warm! It's fresh and fast! For anime fans, the ramen does indeed look like one out of Naruto! I'd definitely come again! ^^

P W.

Yelp
I've been coming to this place for years and haven't yet written a review. Obviously I keep returning because I like it. Today was a cold and rainy day, so perfect for a delicious bowl of ramen, which they always deliver. However it is my custom to deduct a star for the practice of calculating suggested tips based on the after-tax total, which is not proper.

Katie A.

Yelp
Great sticky buns and ramen! Love eating here in between hockey games for the boys quick service and great food

Jessica N.

Yelp
Everything we had was amazing. From the Edamame to the pork buns to the fried gyozas. They don't have a kids menu but you can get a side of noodles and my kids were full with the portion. This is something the waitress told me to do as I was going to order a bowl and have them split it but it would have been too much. We had the spicy tonkotsu, delicious, it was not spicy but we just asked for a side of chili oil. The Restuarant is small but very cute.

Johanna O.

Yelp
The pork buns were delicious and the ramen noodles soup to. I highly recommend this place. You won't be disappointed.

Gabbie W.

Yelp
The food is always so good here! One of my fave ramen spots in DFW. Service is great, very attentive and friendly. The ambiance is very chill, and intimate. Great for a date or smaller parties.

Jonathan B.

Yelp
Super good food! Ordered the spicy ramen and my buddy ordered the chicken katsu. Almost licked the plates clean! Will come back soon!

John A.

Yelp
The portions are big and for the most part the food tastes good. The pork that's included with some of the noodle dishes is basically a slice of fat with a very small sliver of meat attached to it. Not worth trying to remove it from the fat to eat. The eggs were soft boiled and difficult to pick up with the chopsticks provided. The staff were attentive and professional. Although the restaurant was busy, it wasn't overflowing, but they were having trouble keeping clean dishes. Stating , "The dishwasher was overwhelmed." The wooden spoons also provided are clumsy and not very practical as a utensil. Better for stirring while cooking. I wasn't convinced that I should become a regular patron.
