Marugame Udon Review - Spitalfields - London - The Infatuation

"As far as overseas chains go, few have been more welcome or needed than Marugame Udon. The value of handmade udon, a few minutes from Liverpool Street, for under a fiver… it’s very useful. This spot isn’t the the only location of the Japanese chain in London and less tends to be more here (even if a tempura bar is very tempting), but in terms of a quick and satisfying solo snack or lunch, this is the kind of canteen we need more of." - Jake Missing

A great spot for a quick, easy meal with friendly service. The second-floor seating area is surprisingly cosy for a station eatery, making it a comfortable place to relax. Perfect for a convenient and pleasant dining experience!

All in all, a very decent place to eat. The staff members were friendly and didn‘t hesitate to explain how to order at their place. The food was good as well, nevertheless it did not overwhelm me. However, the atmosphere was fitting and calm.

Inside the train station, this noodle place offers many tables to customers. Pleasant atmosphere. You order and collect with your tray. Choose your main and you can add your own extras before you pay. Food is good, tried the tonkotsu icon and added extra chilies from the complimentary bar. The hand made udon noodles are very chewy and tasty. Good prices.

I’m usually quite wary when ordering food from a restaurant serving Japanese cuisine, yet there are not many Japanese people in the venue itself. Perhaps it was the location, that said I had a really enjoyable meal. I predictably went for the katsu chicken curry with Udon noodles. The curry did lack a little punch and wasn’t as flavoursome as I’m used to. The portion size though is more than adequate, I really enjoyed my meal and I think I’ll definitely come back to try some of the other dishes on the menu. This isn’t Wagamama by any stretch (in a good way) it’s much better. Although not many Japanese people, the food tasted good enough, then again I’m not Japanese so perhaps I am indeed the target market. Super friendly staff and really clean too. Nice drop in spot for a bit of lunch or a sit down before a night out or in transit.

Great spot for a quick, affordable bite to eat when in Kensington. The food is always delicious and there is plenty of seating. I ordered the creamy vegan ramen and it was delicious. They also always have great seasonal menu items that are fun to try.

Excellent service. Very keen to make sure that we were safe with nut allergy. Clean plates, new sauces etc. would definitely recommend.

Marugame Udon is a must-visit for udon lovers! The experience of watching the noodles being freshly made adds to the charm of this place. The udon itself is wonderfully chewy and pairs perfectly with a variety of flavorful broths and toppings. The casual vibe makes it an ideal spot for a quick yet satisfying meal.
