Marugame Udon – Quick but Disappointing
Stopped by Marugame Udon for a quick dinner before a concert. Although it’s a fast-food style chain, the price felt quite high for what you get — my meal ended up costing over £20.
I ordered the large beef udon, but the bowl was only about half full, which was surprising. The dish is called “beef udon,” yet there were only a few small pieces of beef in it — most of the brown topping in the bowl turned out to be onions rather than meat.
Taste-wise, the broth was quite salty and tasted heavily seasoned with MSG.
I also tried the hot honey chicken, but the portion was very small — the pieces were roughly the size of KFC popcorn chicken.
One thing I’d recommend is checking the cutlery before using it, as some didn’t appear very clean.
On the positive side, the seating area is fairly spacious, so it’s comfortable if you want to sit down for a quick meal.
Overall, it works if you need a fast bite, but the portion size and value for money were disappointing.
