"The latte from Maruwu Seicha inside West Japantown Mall is a lot more like a milkshake. It’s made with whole Hokkaido milk, which mimics the texture and flavor of melted vanilla ice cream. But the bitterness of the matcha makes sure things don’t get too sweet. On those days when you need a little something extra, ask for a Hokkaido Snow Top—a frothy layer of cheesy milk foam that’s like sipping a liquid cheesecake. If the line here is too long, try Matcha Cafe Maiko one floor down." - julia chen 1, patrick wong
"If it hasn’t been infused by tea, it’s not on the menu at Maruwu Seicha near the west entrance of the Japantown Mall. That includes creamy, almost pudding-like soft serve. Choose from a matcha-infused cup or cone, or opt for tea-spiked Hokkaido milk or satoima (Japanese taro). They also do excellent tea-based lattes and cheese tarts. There aren't any tables, but you can usually find plenty of public seating scattered around the mall." - julia chen 1, lani conway, patrick wong
"Located near the west entrance of the Japantown Mall, Maruwu Seicha is all about Japanese teas. Anything that’s edible, potable, or frozen has been touched by tea, even the air. As soon as you take the short walk from the mall entrance, you’ll get whiffs of the tea-based drinks and baked cheese tarts flavored with matcha. We recommend trying a mix of everything, as long as it includes something (or somethings) with Maruwu Seicha’s specialty Hokkaido milk, like the soft serve lattes. Ordering is slightly confusing: there are two unmarked lines for a self-serve kiosk and another to speak to a human. If you get lost, just ask one of your neighboring tea enthusiasts for some help with the queues. While there’s no seating, you can find up-for-grab chairs and tables scattered around the mall." - Patrick Wong
