Yesterday afternoon, my husband and I hosted a luncheon for 40 people to celebrate our recent wedding (we had the entire restaurant for ourselves) and we could not have hoped for a more wonderful event!! From the moment we initiated a conversation with owners Nicola and Ramiro about having this luncheon, to the moment we said goodbye at the end of the event, they were consistently accommodating and patient, and always seemed genuinely interested in helping us have a successful celebration. The entire staff was equally attentive and helpful. Without exception, everyone who attended expressed how very delicious the food was (including those amazing desserts!) , how lovely the restaurant is, and how attentive and seamless was the service. Prior to our event, we'd had dinner at Marruzzella just with a few friends, and our experience was as wonderful as it turned out to be at our luncheon yesterday. This place is awesome…..wow is all I can say…. Great food great setting great staff great owner… and I don’t even really like Italian food!!

If I could give Maruzzella's 6 stars I would. We stopped in at 7:30 on a Friday night, with no reservations, and the staff went out of their way to find a place for the four of us. We started out with baby artichokes that were pan roasted in olive oil and served with thin crispy slices of garlic chips and small unpitted olives. Delicious. The artichokes were tender and the hearts had that perfect creamy consistency once you started chewing on them, the garlic chips were sweet and mild, and the olives added the perfect sharpness to each bite. What a treat. Now..... my main course was so tasty and savory that I actually passed up desert because I didn't want to introduce any new flavors to my palette. I had the rigatoni cipullo. A plate of perfectly done, al dante rigatoni in a light cream sauce with blended sweet sausage, prosciutto, onions and a touch of cinnamon. Don't be fooled, when you see the meat in the description you might think there would be chunks of meat tossed into the light cream sauce, and you would be wrong. The meat is pureed with the cream sauce and the cinnamon, creating this silky sauce of love that I wanted to bury my face in. Instead, what I actually did was carefully slide two rigatoni onto the fork tines through the holes, and slowly savored each bite until there were only six rigatoni left, and stopped, because I was just at that place where I felt like I was floating. Just full enough to be satisfied, and at the point where I knew that if I had eaten the last six, it would have pushed me over that edge where I would have felt that uncomfortable fullness, and I didn't want to risk anything detracting from how satisfied and comfortable I felt. This was one of the best pasta dishes I have ever had. Wonderfully warm and accommodating staff, delicious original recipes, and extremely reasonably priced. The trifecta of a perfect meal on the Upper East side of Manhattan. P.S. my dinner mates had tagliatelle alla bolognese, linguine alla vongole (white clam sauce), and pasta with sauce that they all raved about, but honestly, as good as they thought their dishes were, there's just no way they were as good as mine. Our first visit. All the staff was very attentive and nice. The outside table was perfect for a lovely 73F nyc weather. Everything we ordered was just a great experience! We will be back for more.😍

Food was decent- but defintely not the best. Service was quick but staff was very rude. Waiter refused to give us a wine menu unless we were going to order a bottle. He then seemed annoyed I asked him what wines by the glass- If you dont want to answer questions about alcohol then just go get the menu so I can see for myself smh. Prices to expensive for such small portions.

One of the gems on the upper east side. Great food, great service, nice atmosphere. A nice place for a romantic dinner for two or a party of eight. One of my top restaurants on the upper East side.

Best fried calamari in the area. Home made pasta is excellent. Gnocchi Bolognese is not in the menu, but you may try it. The lasagna is excellent flavorful and is big enough to share. The tiramisu needs more bitter coffee flavor. No refill for soda🤦🏽‍♂️. Great service

Great Neighbourhood restaurant. Good food and very friendly service. Always the go-to when you're not sure where to go.

Checked out this restaurant on 1st Avenue. The crowd broke a bit geriatric, but maybe that was because we had a 7:00 table. We were seated at a comfortable table. The host and staff were very solicitous. Started off with a solid martini. Bread and olive oil were good. We shared an insalata Bianca. My wife ordered the Rotolo and I tried the pork shop special. Everything was solidly OK. The prices are below average for the Upper East Side. OK experience, overall. The Italian food scene is very competitive on the upper east side. Add half a star if you are value oriented.

Very tasty food! We were looking for a restaurant and wandered in here off the street and were very happy we did!. We had the homemade spinach ravioli, we also had the chicken Contadina which was fantastic - wonderful sauce and so flavorful. Thomas, our waiter took very good care of us and the dessert was outstanding with tiramisu. We'll be back.

Their food is consistently excellent. The service is attentive and accomodating. You can hear your conversation with your friends.

What can I say... this place knocks it put of the park! Another visit to my daughter... another wonderful meal! 10/10 on all accounts....like going to an old friends house for dinner... awesome

A traditional Italian restaurant located in the Upper East Side of NYC, offers both indoor and outdoor seating. The service was very friendly and efficient. I had the Branzino fish with spinach for $29.75. I felt the fish had an odd taste. The others enjoyed their pasta and fresh gnocchi.

delicious and authentic italian dishes, great wine selection, friendly staff, and a warm ambiance in Maruzella. had a nice time here with girlfriends after visiting the Met. we could overhear a lot of people talking with the staff about how frequently they are in. a very cute spot to be a regular multiple times a week. not pricey either :)

Marruzella's is a classic old-school Italian spot. It is the perfect place to bring your out of town relatives for dinner, especially if--like mine--they are also old-school Italians. The service is impeccable. The servers will crack jokes with you as you enter, rattle off the impressively long list of specials, and never let your water glass run dry. Your "particular" aunt from Long Island will have nothing to complain about. The food is also excellent. The dishes are all classics (the menu is an italian 'greatest hits' collection). Still, each one is almost surprisingly delicious. Our favorite appetizer is the calamaria ala grigli. It's essentially just grilled calamari and salad, but it is extraordinarily fresh and summery. Our favorite entrée is the veal scallopini marsala; it is almost decadently rich. The food comes out fast too. And, naturally, there is warm, soft bread which arrives promptly on your table, much to the delight of your father (rapidly approaching 'hangry' after battling traffic for 2 hours). The décor manages to be clean and well-composed yet not overly formal. It's very cozy and homey. After a meal here, your out-of-town family will be clamoring to visit again soon. How long you wait to take them up on it....well, that's on you.

This is a old school type Italian Restaurant. The food is Fabulous! I have been there many Times and never had a bad meal!! And the service is above and beyond. Thank you for such good pasta and fish and desserts !!

My brother recently moved right across the street from here and chose it as the spot where we got to meet his girlfriend for the first time. I am so happy he picked here. Although the place is TINY and you will most likely need an appointment, the food was outstanding as was the service. My main entree was pappardelle with white truffle oil, mushrooms and goat cheese. The food is so authentic and they deliver! Turns out the owner is from the same town in italy that my grandmother is from! This will be one of my go to spots when visiting my brother.

I was disappointed the last time we were there. The service was good, but the food was tired. It just wasn't as good as it used to be. There are many other good choices in the neighborhood.

We had dinner here Sep 23 and everything was so good. The melon and prosciutto was the best I have ever had. I had the homemade fettuccine special and the flavors were so distinct, but went together so well. Best Panna Cotta I have ever had. We always love to go to Maruzella's because the food is so good and service is personal. Don't miss it!!

Around the Corner on 1st and East 77th is a good Italian Restaurant! This is one of my favorite inexpensive Italian Restaurants in the area. All of their dishes are very good along with the service. The shrimp and Broccoli Rabe dish maybe my favorite when they have it. But the Chicken with Artichokes and Rotolo Di Pasta which is a rolled homemade pasta filled with spinach, ricotta and mozzarella in a light tomato sauce are also very good. You can enjoy a long evening without anyone asking us if we wanted the check. Great when you are the one paying for a large family get together in NYC.

Had this delivered. Food was cold oil leaked out of all the containers wouldn't order delivery.

This is a great date spot - a little pricey, big portions, and dim lighting so you can make sure your date goes home full and impressed. My friend and I came at 7:30 on a weeknight - not busy at all, plenty of space. They have an extensive wine list but unfortunately don't price by the glass. We split the spaghettini pomodoro e basilico and the pollo alla bolognese - frankly, they were enough for two people and then some. A little salty but definitely flavorful and well prepared. The panna cotta for dessert was the perfect topper. All in all, a nice place for a quiet catch up meal!

Very good dinner. My husband started with the beef carpaccio and really enjoyed it. The beef was thinly sliced and there was a good amount of Parmesan cheese. He added a bit of salt because it needed a little more flavor. I got the salad which came with endive, artichoke, hearts of palm, Parmesan and lemon and olive oil dressing. It was light and tasty. My husband also got the fresh rolled pasta with spinach, ricotta, mozzarella and tomato sauce and really enjoyed it.

Big fan of this Italian joint. Sat bistro style and had fun people watching in fresh air. Very intimate setting. Enjoyed the burrata with cherry tomatoes and pesto and didn't want to share. Did however Share a bottle of wine if you can tell by my review :) my salmon entree was cooked perfectly and Caesar salad was homemade goodness. Loved tasting the anchovies!

Great Italian in a great city.. This is a lovely little place on 1st Ave making genuine Italian food. The seafood risotto is lively as is the lasagne and shrimp linguini...

An excellent neighborhood gem with welcoming staff and service. Understated, cozy and comfortable it's a great place to unwind and have a suburb authentic Italian meal. If you are looking for authentic Italian cuisine, with a very good choices and selections you have to try it... it's been around for 24 years for a reason.

I used to love Maruzzella, but I find them to be just ok these days and very expensive. The risotto doesn't have as much flavor as it used to.

Incredible food! During these hard times, it is hard to find restaurants that are open and keeping the quality of their food to their max. Maruzzella exceeded my expectations. We ordered the Insalata Romana con Barbabietole, pappardelle all'olio di tartufo bianco, and the rotolo di pasta. Everything we ordered was amazing, I will definitely order take out from them again and again and hoping to visit them when the Pause is done. Ohhh and order the tiramisu it is soft, tasty and delicious. If you want to safe some bucks! Order on their website!! Support your local restaurants!

Wonderful authentic and charming Italian restaurant with a nice and cozy ambiance, outstanding service and wonderful food. I have wanted to try this restaurant for so long and was definitely not disappointed when we did. Ambiance. Nice and cozy. Linen covered tables, brightly painted walls, exposed brick walls, arched doorways and artwork balance the dining area so it is nice but cozy and comfortable feeling- which is how I personally like to feel when I have Italian. Service. Fantastic. Thomas was so friendly and attentive, another server attentively had our waters filled, and the manager also checked in on us toward the end of the meal. top service Food. Everything was wonderfully, with an extensive menu and pasta dishes for anyone's taste. I was torn between two but when I asked if they could make my very favorite fruiti di mare (not on the menu), Thomas said of course ! We had: - Frutti de mare - wonderful. Mussels were huge, fresh and quality shrimp, clams... I chose angel hair for a change and the pasta was cooked perfectly, broth was also perfectly flavored - Chicken breast special in a wine gravy with potatoes and vegetables. My friend thought it was fantastic and I tried - flavorful sauce and chicken was great. - Key lime pie was also super. Sambuca served with the 3 coffee beans. And Extra dirty martini was made perfectly. Definitely recommend for a cozy Italian dinner with family, friends or a date.

Penne alla vodka was beyond bland with frozen peas on top. All chicken dishes my party ordered were no doubt microwaved. At one point I even heard the microwave turn on. Not to mention the start was awful with the bread being undeniably frozen. Water was not filled till after I finished eating. Overall worst Italian place, worse than Olive Garden. To add on, portions were small compared to the price. Would not recommend to my worst enemy. You're in nyc go visit any other Italian place.

Portion size was low and I had spaghetti in my lazanya. Not enough sauce but very tasty. Would really loved more. My salad was larger than the meal. I'm a little disappointed.

Very nice and intimate local restaurant. Pasta dishes seem to be ordered by most patrons. We had the lasagne and tagliatelle bolognese which were very good and ample portions We will definitely be back!

Came here for the first time was seated right away server came right away ordered drinks he fixed the. Wobbly table without even asking server came periodically food was excellent prices were good overall pleasant experience management came over periodically and asked of everything was good clientele seemed to be repeat customers all in all pleasant experience will cone again

Whether it's the genuine and warm welcoming by all members of the wait staff and the owner, Nick - the moment you step foot in Maruzzella you are greeted by the romantic, yet subtle ambience and the aromas of all things delicious that are being consumed by patrons or being prepared in the kitchen. The pasta is homemade and is spot on; the baby baked clams are a perfect starter to a meal. Perhaps my favorite (it's truly next to impossible to pick just one) dish is the Orcecchiette with sausage & broccoli rabe. Make sure to save room for their delicious tiramisu, paired with an after dinner drink! Regardless if you are accompanied by friends or your better half, your dining experience Maruzzella will be one that you won't forget - and you'll immediately think about how soon you can return.

Maruzzella is a great restaurant with a big heart. Have lived in the area for many years but only noticed the restaurant during lockdown-COVID-walks. It's is a neighborhood place but with great execution that stands up as an objectively fine NYC restaurant. Great salads, awesome calamari of any kind, classic pasta dishes and well cooked fish. Finally went there the first day outdoor dining was OK'd by the powers that be. They have my favorite digestif, Galliano. So there's that.

If yaaou wan an ordinary Italian restaurant, not too expensive, not really unusual food, professional service, reasonable prices but nothing special -- in a city where there is a plethora of extraordinary food -- go to Maruzzella....that sums it up.

The food and service was amazing! We started with a chilled bottle of wine paired with our pasta. I had the vodka pasta and the serving was a huge portion. Dessert was freshly made, Panna cotta with raspberries! The service was friendly and very welcoming. My first time here and I will definitely be back!

I have lived on the upper east side for about a month and have been to this resturaunt probably 6 times already. I absolutely love this restaurant, the food is delicious and the owner Nick takes the time to get to know his guests. Living in New York Coty it's so nice to go to a neighborhood restaurant where the staff takes their time being personable with you and where they know your name. The food is so delicious and I could eat the roasted eggplant with goat cheese every meal of the week. I could not recommend this place more.

I was here only twice in years. obviously then I did not think it was great if I did not go back often. I thought I would give it a try again and give a neighborhood rest business especially after covid A few weeks ago I sat outside by myself and it was an early weekday eve. The waiter sad just one.......hate that just I worked in industry when young and never said JUST ONE...it is one .....DO YOU SAY JUST 2? I said yes. Then the owner stepped out and told me the table is reserved when i said one again.Well I can not repeat what I said to him Half empty and only one was not good enough for him so in the future he can count me and my friends .I like 83 AND A HALF so much better on obviously east 83 st between 1st and 2nd ave closer to first

This place is AMAZING!!! TRULY a hidden gem of the UES! Incredible food and great energy! Staff is so friendly and the owner is a delight! Luciano was our server and he had great suggestions, and was very attentive! I can not say enough great things about this restaurant! If you're looking for great food and a great atmosphere Maruzzella is your spot!

Coming from Florida we had so many options of great food in NYC. Everything was 5 stars from the food to the service! We had the artichokes, mushrooms and rolletini for appetizers and I had the fettuccine with meat sauce. Amazing! Then for dessert we had the key lime pie- even as a Floridian, it was the best I've ever had!! Can't wait to come back!

This review is long over due. I love this place! We have been coming about every other week or so for the last two years, and are never let down. The food is delicious, the service is great, and it's always consistent. The veal capricossa is my favorite, and the key lime pie is awesome. They make the pie there and it's better than any key lime pie I've had, including the famous pie from joes stone crab in Miami. If you want quality Italian food and consistent good service, I would recommend checking this place out.

This is my first time ordering from here. I've passed by many times and always meant to try it but never got a chance until now. They are one of the few restaurants open during this pandemic. The food came quickly and it was in abundance. The pastas were all pretty tasty. The Caesar salad was too overdressed for my liking but it was still flavorful. I'd definitely order again to try out their other pasta dishes.

This was my first Italian meal as a resident of NYC and it did not disappoint. Wine, food and service all exceeded expectations! I will be coming back here!

Even during COVID, this place is still going strong. They have many outdoor dining tables set up, as well as take out or delivery. I got a take out order and they even included bread. Accommodating even the most difficult times!

We ordered Home delivery. The food arrived in a reasonable amount of time, and we're still relatively warm. The dishes are flavorful, but the lasagna had little to no cheese as part of its make up.

Incredibly kind owner and management. I came in for takeout today and they couldn't have been kinder. They ARE open for takeout and delivery during this time, and I can't wait to come back to dine-in when everything is over with corona. In the meantime I highly recommend everyone come in to pickup/delivery for some great Italian food and wine.

It's 10 pm on Wednesday, June 26 2019. I was looking for a place to have a drink, coffee or wine, and do some reading. This spot was nice and almost empty. The server tells me I can sit anywhere outside so I sit at a table of four. A few moments later the owner comes out and tells me I can't sit there, I need to sit at a table of two. Only two other people are outside but I did as suggested. Then the owner, not the server, comes back out again and asks what I want to order so I ask for a cup of coffee. He says I need to order something to eat or I can't stay and that if I want coffee I should go to Starbucks! This place was closing in one hour, why be such a jerk! The bigger the order the better the treatment. Never going back.
