Go to Branson, Missouri, for the Dinner Theater, Stay for the Real Show | Eater

"An early and still-active Branson attraction centered on impressive stalactites and cave formations that helped seed the town’s tourism industry; developed and popularized under long-term stewardship midcentury, it remains a focal point of the region’s themed-park origins." - Amy McCarthy

It's nice that this just comes with the theme park experience. Just know you are going to dedicate over an hour to it. As far as cave experiences go, this one is a bit bland. The Cathedral Room is pretty spectacular, but the rest of the tour is a bit underwhelming. I presume much of the cave sites you tend to see elsewhere were destroyed in the early days of the attraction. Not many great stalagmites or stalactites seem to remain, or maybe never had them. Tour guide did a good job and kept it fun and informative. The path is all paved and only a few spots are difficult to walk through. The mine train at the end of the tour is cool. Unless you are going to be at the park for a few days, I'd say you are better off hitting the rides instead. There are other caves in the area that have much more awe inspiring formations.

Favorite Silver Dollar Experience so far. WATERFALLS! Non-slip, supportive shoes a must. It it a strenuous .5 mile hike with a total of 500 stairs down and 100 back up. Great historical cave. Largest cave entrance in the US! Must see for all ages! Bryan, tour guide, is excellent!

Google
Wow! Talk about being completely blown away! My family has done a ton of cave tours over the years and we haven’t ever been on one that we completely loved our tour guide as much as we loved Vivian today! She spoke so highly of the owners of Silver dollar was so funny we laughed and smiled the whole way through, we all learned so much and she made our littles feel safe, comfortable and was so encouraging by the end of our day at silver dollar city it was still our favorite part of the whole day! So Vivian thank you so much for making the whole day for my family! You started our entire experience at Silver Dollar City with a WOW!!

Google
Amazing cave and history inside the Silver Dollar City complex. This tour is included with admission. It's not an easy trek, so if you have doubts about your ability to climb 500 ft of stairs and crawl in a hunched position, you might want to just view photos of the cave, it wears you out lol. I'm in my 60s and the trek was fine. The cave is amazing and the history is really cool to learn about. Recommend if you are able to take this tour, you will enjoy it!

Google
Lots of walking and stair climbing but worth it. If you are not healthy don't do this cave there are other caves in the area for you. The displays of cave lights and formations are wonderful. The girls at 8 & 11 we're old enough to handle the steps and the speed of moving through the cave. With timed tours you can't just spend the time you want unless you are at the forward part of the line. I recommend seeing this cave if you are able.

Google
Absolute Branson-must! Obviously, you need to purchase a ticket to Silver Dollar City to take the tour of Marvel Cave, but both are completely worth it. It rained a lot the day we went here, so we did have to wait three hours for the cave conditions to improve to tour the cave, but it was amazing! The tour guide was amazing and fun! The tour takes you on a rigorous journey through the cave system and out using a train (if it works). When you go to SDC, the entrance to Marvel Cave is right when you get in the park, so get in line right away. You watch a five-minute movie in the holding area and then descend into the cave. Pictures don't do it justice, so just go. Overall, this is a Branson-must!

Google
This was alot of fun!!! BUT!!! SOOOO MANY STAIRS!!! we had a lot of great laughs and an amazing tour guide! We even saw a few dinosaurs.....go see if you can find them!

Google
Wasn’t sure I wanted to devote so much of the time in our visit to SDC with the cave tour, but it was really worth it. The view of the cathedral room really was a marvel. I’d never seen anything like this and I’ve done many cave tours. There were several flowstone formations to see. Waterfall room was also nice. I’m 66 and very overweight and managed the 500 stairs down and 100 up without a problem (though if the cable car at the end hadn’t worked I may have had trouble). Really a great tour and our guide (RJ) was great.

Yelp
I had a fantastic time and there are not just rides, but stores! They get really creative and it was so much fun scouring through the park. The workers are so friendly there when I went. It felt magical. It's really packed, but that's a good thing. Restarsunt are okay, I think i'm better off of them. I tried the popcorn there, it tasted unique, in a good way. As I said, there are so many cool stores! There's a puppet one, a christmas ornament one, a glass blowing one, It was so stunning. I loved it here and I do want to go again!

Yelp
We enjoyed the caves and all the Christmas decorations. Food was decent- we had bbq and lots of coffee & hot chocolate. Cons: pricey for visitors, great for annual pass holders which we couldn't get because it starts at the beginning of year.

Yelp
I would give this place 3.5 if I could. I really wanted to visit this place my entire life, I finally did and while I did enjoy parts of it and it was BEAUTIFUL with the Christmas lights. I have never seen so many people inside a park. It was just not enjoyable. I would never come back during the holidays or recommend it. The only ride I really cared about going on was 'Fire in the Hole' and I waited an hour and was able to get on. I also enjoyed 'Outlaw Run' which was CRAZY in the dark at night. They were both a great ride; definitely worth the wait for me. Because it was so busy, I did spend most of my time going into the shops which were wonderful. I also had the tasting pass which was great and definitely worth the price. The lines were insanity for food so I couldn't get everything I waited; some of those lines just never moved so I had to leave them. However, the food I did have was great! All the staff was friendly, the parade was cute but again... INSANITY due to the busyness in the park. The layout of this park for me was SO confusing and the app did not really help me because it kept freezing up. I don't know if I would come back or recommend -- DEFINITELY not the Holiday Season. Although, I had no idea that parking was free and that was a great surprise!

Yelp
Took the family for Christmas and it is just magical. The lights are amazing, shows great, lots of food choices. It is crowded, but not any worse than any other amusement park at peak.
google avatar

Carson D.

Yelp
This is a wonderful amusement park year round. However, every holiday season I enjoy attending the Old Time Christmas event. The rides are open, demonstrations & shows going on and millions of Christmas lights on display. Also a light parade to attend during the nighttime with two times available to watch. The food options here are vast and quite tasty as well. Shopping is another great thing about this park. One thing to note is this park is VERY hilly and could provide problems to persons with disabilities or limited walking capabilities unless renting a mobile scooter.

Yelp
- - - - - - - - Current Review - August, 2024 (2024-08) - - - - - - - - The Best Amusement Park - - - - - - - - My wonderful wife and I enjoyed a fantastic getaway weekend to Springfield and Branson... 47 hours of fun! We have visited SDC / Silver Dollar City many times over the years; during all seasons; each visit has been wonderful. This trip was a shorter visit, so we only had 2-3 hours to visit. We rode The Great Barn Swing and Thunderation, both fun. We also enjoyed visiting the original home that was built in the 1850s... nice docents! We also enjoyed the knife smith, purchased some lye soap, honey - elderberry, raspberry, spun chocolate the lady who works here is so friendly, and shares samples so you can be confident in the ones you like the best. Next visit we'll get back into Marvel Cave! - - - - - - - - December, 2023 (2023-12) - - - - - - - - Fantastic year-round; extra special at Christmas time. My daughter and I visited recently, to ride Fire in the Hole one last time before it's replaced, apparently by a new Fire in the Hole. While it was a cool and cloudy December day, with temperatures in the 50's, we had a great time. I realized that it has somehow been 12 or so years since we were last here... we had season tickets and fixed 4 or 5 times back in 2011... when the kids were much smaller... and now our daughter's in college, and it still seems like yesterday we were last there that year... time flies. - - - ROLLER COASTERS And this year, we flew... on roller coasters, five of them - Fire in the Hole - Powder Keg - Wildfire three times... SO SMOOTH... even though it's a 155 foot drop... 66 mph... 3,075 feet long... awesome ride atop a hillside - Time Machine... which slows twice and stops once... then each of the three times it accelerates you forward (using under-track / under-car magnets?)... and while the cars do rotate as you speed along the track, it is not so much that you feel dizzy - ThuNderaTion all were awesome!!!!! - - - CRAFTSMEN and CRAFTSWOMEN Artists... for several weeks, at another time of the year, Silver Dollar City hosts craftsmen and craftswomen who make items right there for you to see (and purchase). While this was not the time dedicated to crafts everywhere in the park, we did see some... The Bent Spoon and a shack with much honey from a bee farm in Springfield, MO. THE BENT SPOON Marc at the Bent Spoon is a great artist. "The Bent Spoon specializes in spoon and fork jewelry based on vintage silverware patterns from the late 1800s and early 1900s. Pick out your favorite pattern from a wide selection of jewelry that include spoon and fork rings, spoon and fork necklaces and spoon bracelets." (source silver dollar city dot com) Our daughter found some nice rings at the store where the artisans make rings from old silverware... from the handles. They also make snails and other items by artfully bending the tines of the forks. Honey - whipped and other flavors... and they let you sample - so good! - - - FOOD / DINING Along the way, we had some fantastic food: - Skillet for breakfast - sausage and chicken - Apple cider - Hot dog and a potato on a stick - hot chocolate - Honey - whipped and other flavors - we brought it home and the whipped honey was gone by mid-week - - - We have also enjoyed the tour of Marvel Cave, which has a main area so big they have floated hot air balloons in it... it's worth a visit. - - - Christmas crowds The following is based on a single afternoon in 2023, but it is similar to what we experienced in 2010... The park has a good number of guests during the day, but the lines for the rides are not too long. It appears that there is a larger crowd arriving for the Christmas parade, ~ 5pm, and for riding the train after dark - that line looked quite long... so just plan ahead to get in line early and/or expect to wait - the train ride was great and celebrates Jesus's birth - - - We'll see you again, soon, Silver Dollar City! - - -

Yelp
My family has been coming to Silver Dollar City since I was small and my parents have had season passes for years. My brother and sister both live in Springfield and they and their families also have season passes, so I frequent this park quite often. Summer is the best time to visit - they have a lot of different festivals like the food festival and the Bluegrass Festival. The little church in the park has a gorgeous view, and there are lots of shops and shows and rides and something for really everyone. The candle shop was always my favorite store when I was a kid because they let you dip your own candles in different colored wax. As I've gotten older, there are even more things that I've enjoyed doing and items that I found that I have bought there that decorate my home or are useful. The pottery can't be beat and this trip my mom bought a gorgeous hand thrown utensil holder. All of the handmade crafts and foods are exceptional. If you've never been to Silver dollar city, I highly suggest you go. During Christmas time there is a market in the bar and that sells every kind of ornament you could ever imagine. I usually buy one every year and this year I got a flute that is so highly detailed. I can't wait to hang it on my tree. In the glass blowing shop as a kid I would always get to select one small little glass figurine to take home and I had quite the collection. Now I collect their hand blown ornaments, which are one-of-a-kind and gorgeous for your tree. I don't think I've ever gone the weekend after Thanksgiving because it's so busy on the holidays weekend, but with my son and his girlfriend visiting we had to go on the Saturday after Thanksgiving. I have never seen so many people inside the park, and I will never come on a holiday weekend again. It just was not enjoyable, even though the lights & the parade were fun as usual and the special Christmas tree in the main square is brand new this year and a highlight, I'll never come back on a holiday weekend and suggest you skip it too. You should come in early November to see the Christmas lights or the first or second week in December.

Yelp
I wish I could give this place like 8 or 9 stars. I've been coming here my whole life, and it's like being a kid again every time. One of my true happy places. Silver Dollar City is a theme park set in the 1880's. They have roller coasters that are WAY cooler than you might suspect. Every time they roll out a new one, it sets some kind of record. It's amazing. But more than that, I love the food (unique!) and the shops. They are a family friendly place, all about God and country. This is the place to come for gospel music, patriotic music, clean highly talented performers, 150 year old skill demonstrations (like leather working, iron working, glass working, candy making, wood working, and so on). Jewelry, leather gear, beautiful Christmas decorations, and I could go on and on. I never miss riding the train. It's a piece of childhood. And I never miss my favorite ride: the bakery near the entrance. Just walking out of the entrance shops into the square with the gazebo decorated for every season makes me young again. This year is my first time (amazingly) seeing the Christmas lights. Literally 2 million of them! Unbelievable. If you like good clean fun, this is your place. Don't miss it!

Yelp
Love it during Christmas time! The lights are so pretty and they have a parade at night. It's pretty busy though since a lot of people come to see the lights. They have an app for the park so that was really cool and helpful. I could look up a ride or shop and find it on the map and it would tell me how to get there. It would also tell you info on rides. Like if they were closed and how long the lines were. We got trailblazer pass which was nice to slip the lines. Think you can only use it 8 times though. But worth it! Food and souvenirs kinda expensive though. Try to bring snacks and drinks if you can! Had a good time though! Definitely more fun win the weather is nice!

Yelp
Got there when it opened and stayed til it closed. Even after 20,000 steps that were mostly hills we had the absolute best time. We lucked out weather wise, although a bit rainy it was the perfect day to eat our way through, try out the shows, wander through the shops and try the rides that were open. The live music and shows are fabulous, I thought they might be extra on the cheese but the talent is insane. The band that goes on before the fireworks was crazy fun. I can't believe it's every night. 100% recommend starting the day at the breakfast buffet. The skillet, several of these and cinnamon bread are musts. Tons of parking with a bus that runs non stop to the entrance. Can't wait for the fall to visit again!

Yelp
I know this might not be the most popular opinion, but our experience just wasn't as enjoyable as we hoped. I think the overwhelming crowds--literally elbow to elbow people crammed into one park--played a huge role in our frustration. With wait times of 20-30 minutes for everything, it got old fast. We ended up forfeiting our taste tickets because the lines were just too long to bother with. The food was fine, but nothing special. On a positive note, the park was extremely clean, and our kids had a blast on the rides. The lights at night were also stunning. However, by the time the parade was about to start, we were all pretty over it and left early. We definitely won't plan to visit during this time of year again.

Yelp
Pretty fun amusement park with a cave and a good handful of thrill rides. The (nondiscounted) tickets are really pricy though, but we got a discount due to my MIL having annual passes, which made the price very fair (around $40 with discount). I appreciated that the cave tour was included and it was really interesting! I definitely think Marvel Cave is a must-do when you are there. The park was decorated really nicely for Halloween, and I thought they had a good number of thrill rides. There was also no line for pretty much anything when we went on a gloomy weekday with some sprinkling rain, so that was a nice bonus. Outlaw Run is one of the most unique coasters I've ever been on with its corkscrew turn. I had a good time and I would come again!

Yelp
Crowds are not regulated no limit to how many they let in, rude people everywhere. Bumping into you. Some down right mean. What happen to humanity down there ?people agh !!!Park itself is clean holiday lights are nice bbq was old and gross. No wonder it's been 6 years will be another 6 everything is over priced here. Prefer Disney world

Yelp
We come here a lot over the years but this time around we rode *almost* all of the rides! It's so easy to run from ride to ride with short wait times, cooling stations, and the refillable drink option was so worth it! The top 3 rides are : Outlaw Run, PowderKeg, and Wildfire! Fire in the Hole (the updated one) is AMAZING! Great job y'all, it's just like the old one with more drops & bigger, brighter displays. They did such a good job, this was my favorite ride as a kid, and i love what they've done with it. The cave is a MUST SEE - we have gone almost every time and it's still amazing. It's located in the main shop as soon as you walk in. We had a great time, perfect place for family, or friends.

Yelp
This was our second trip to SDC and we had even more fun than the first trip! There is so much do for every age, from toddlers to adults, so much to see and do. And the location, tucked away in the trees hills of the ozark mountains near table rock lake, silver dollar city and Branson are a family bucket list item for sure! We have yet to try the water park, but have decided this will be a yearly adventure!

Yelp
Had such an amazing time here! Clean and fun. The lines weren't too long. Don't forget to check out the cave tour! It's so cool. Grandpas mansion is really neat. My favorite ride was the Time Traveler! Looking forward to visiting again.

Yelp
Silver Dollar City has a rich history.. Silver Dollar City also has a lot of hills that they do not tell you on their park website, that it is not for the elderly/or disabled unless you have a mobile chair traveler. This park is way too expensive in season passes, daily visits, food, and up to door parking. I do not recommend for elderly, disabled, and small children... due to the steep hill walking. This is sad because you do see many people struggling trying to have a good time amidst the crowds and long long lines. $62+ tax for military/veterans $89+ for daily passes minus vets, up to toddler ages (free) and senior citizens Check out their season package deals on their website, you'll still not save any money. Been going here since I was in my mom's womb.. small park, crowded throughout its seasons, expensive, expensive, lot of walking from acres of parking or take the pick up tram to the front gate. Food prices are only 10 percent off with a seasonal pass.. bring your own bottled water, Gatorade and snacks .. they still let you. Over the several years, their prices have gone up immensely. Due to Covid, or inflation .. but you can decide if this place is right for you and your family. The cashier staff aren't friendly. A lot of the workers aren't happy to see you when they are suffering the summer heat as well. I recommend, buy a bumper pull camper and travel to the camp sites and see the real wilderness or travel to the south west. Carlsbad Caverns, or White Sands... Mount Rushmore. Give SDC a PASS and save your family the grief and hassle!! As for the rich history, the higher ups don't care about ripping you all off.

Yelp
If you're visiting Missouri, a stop at Silver Dollar City is a must! I grew up coming to this theme park but I love attempting to explain it to people who have never been. "It's a theme park designed to be like a mining town from the 1880's" or "Picture Cracker Barrel but as an amusement park." No description can do it justice! It's always quite a different experience coming in the summer vs winter. All the rides are open in the summer and they have a great mix of thrill rides, water rides, children's rides, and shows. Wildfire was my favorite roller coaster growing up, but they've expanded a lot since then and now have the very popular Time Traveler which has gotten national attention! In the winter, most of the rides don't run when it is less than 40° outside. However, all the Christmas lights make up for it! You can't find a place with better Christmas lights and decorations than Silver Dollar City. As a part of the Bible Belt of the United States, you can certainly feel the Christian aspect of the holiday season here which I love. We came just after Christmas this year to see the lights, attend one of their Christmas shows, and ride a few rides! Thunderation, their wooden roller coaster, was running and is always a great ride. We also got to be some of the final riders of Fire In The Hole, one of the country's first indoor roller coasters that opened in 1972! It's about to close for a complete renovation, I'm so happy I got to ride the original again and scream "fire in the hole!" one last time! We loved seeing the Christmas parade and the massive tree which has a light show on the hour. Plus there's all the fun shops themed after the 1880's like the blacksmith, the glass blowing shop, and the saloon. A walk through Grandfather's Mansion is always a trippy and fun experience that you can't pass up. We ate at The Mill restaurant this time which is an AYCE buffet for about $22/person and features tons of southern comfort food options. Tickets for admission are usually closer to $100/person, but ours were only $49/person for some reason this time which was a steal! We spent about 5 hours here and had a blast. It is certainly a one-of-a-kind experience and always brings me back to my childhood when I come. I'm excited to come back during the warmer months again at some point!

Yelp
Prices have gotten too high for the traditions that we are giving up. After two decades of taking my family there, it appears we are moving on to starting new traditions in Branson. Prices too high, food quality decline, service decline, hospitality decline.

Zachary C.

Yelp
Restaurant didn't post the prices. You get the food and they seat you without knowing and when you go to pay they charge $25 a plate. If I had know that I would have gotten more food for my buck.

Yelp
Excellent amusement park considering it's sort of out of the way in the Ozark Mountains. A beautiful location though. Visited on a Thursday in May before school was out so the park was not crowded and perfect temps in the low 70's with sun off an on. I think the weather can really make or break your experience in this park so plan carefully. You could end up miserably hot or freezing depending on when you go. Some very good roller coasters and excellent theming with lots to see and do for all ages and immaculately clean. If you've been to Knott's Berry farm it's similar but a lot better in the theming and location. It's not as big and hilly as you'd expect from the whining of some other reviewers (unless you have significant physical limitations or are severely out of shape/overweight.) Downloading the app is a must though to navigate as the place is a bit of a maze to get around in. Outlaw is the scariest coaster as it's fast and does corkscrews with just a lap bar. Wildfire is overall the best coaster in the park. Embarrassingly, on Outlaw, some people could not ride because they couldn't get the lap bar down low enough and had to exit the ride and perform the walk of shame to the exit. (Some of us Americans need to cut back on the burgers and pizza.) The park did have intermittent issues with some of the rides throughout the day causing long lines - this would have been a disaster in peak season. The Trailblazer pass which is an extra $80 is well worth it, especially during peak periods, allowing you to skip the main line and save a TON of time and frustration. If you go in the hot Summer and don't get the Trailblazer pass you will be miserable waiting in long lights in the humid heat. Secret tip: At mealtime all the places with burgers, chicken and pizza will get long lines at peak time so eat early or late, or better yet, go to Miss Molly Mill's Buffet by the entrance which a lot of people don't even know exist and get all you can eat in a nice air-conditioned atmosphere. (Best to ride Outlaw first before you go pig out here.) It's not a gigantic selection of food or gourmet level but the fried trout was excellent!'

Yelp
First time visitors and we really enjoyed our visit. We had a 4 and 6 year olds and there was plenty for them to do. We brought snacks in to help with costs but, honestly, the food inside was very reasonable. By biggest take away is that they don't try to gauge you with all the extras. Everyone we encountered was very friendly even though it was the heavy Christmas season. It's a very Christian based company and very hilly. So beware. We definitely got a good workout. It helped that they allow you to bring in a cart to carry you children and food and water. We look forward to returning in the summer so we also try some of the outdoor activities available near by.

Yelp
Silver dollar city has such a family friendly feeling & we had a blast! My favorite ride was the flooded mine, and favorite show was at the silver dollar salon. Loved that we were able to bring a cooler with drinks and sandwiches, and that allowed us to get whatever treats or desserts we wanted inside the park later. Only downside was the line for cave and fire in the hole ride was about 2 hr wait so we weren't willing to wait that long and had to pass on those attractions.

Yelp
There are several things factoring into my review: 1. Rides (P.S. All of the rides have cubbies where you get on/off, which I really liked as it felt more secure than just having little bags in the ride car.) - Time Travel 5/5 stars: Fun and exciting the whole way through, the first dip gave me butterflies (which is a pro lol); it did have a long wait time but an interesting queue. Enjoyment was fueled exponentially by my little sister's screams (she didn't think it would be intense, and neither did we). Do not wear glasses in this one unless you trust they'll stay on. - Thunderation (TNT) 1/5 stars: Short line but not a fun rollercoaster. It was very jerky and anticlimactic. Do not wear glasses in this one unless you trust they'll stay on. - Fire in the Hole 1/5 stars: Super long line due to delays and it was SO not worth it. Very boring with boring line waiting room. It was more focused on telling a story rather than being an actual ride. - Fireman themed up and down ride (I forgot the name) 4/5 stars: Long line for a short but fun reward. - Hot Air Balloon Ride 3/5 stars: Surprisingly more intense than I expected for a baby ride. Pretty long line though. - Outlaw Run 5/5 stars: Very intense and fun with a short line (like ~10 minutes). The whole ride had me exhilarated. Do not wear glasses in this one unless you trust they'll stay on. My sister says that it gave her a headache though. - Mystic River Expedition 5/5 stars: Fun water ride and a nice way to cool off. The first half is the classic rapids but then you go up an elevator to go down a water slide and the final drop. Surprisingly didn't get soaked at the end but it was a fun experience (not the person who kept getting really close to me in line though). 2. Food - Pretty expensive as per usual for theme parks - Tater twist was very good but not very filling - Pizza was alright - Chicken strips were real good with honey mustard dressing 3. Cost - Very expensive tickets but apparently cheaper than Disney's parks. I was also able to get a military discount due to my sister so day passes for four people was only $260. - I saw a cute budgie plush in one of the stores but decided to buy it online so it's cheaper. So thanks for introducing me to a good budgie plushie, I guess. 4. Exhaustion - Waiting in line for so long for Fire in the Hole was pretty tiring - It's also very hot, so bring your own water bottles, and wear sunscreen and hats - Taking the tram/bus will help you save your energy - We arrived at 9:30 and ended up leaving at 5 5. Verdict - I had fun and enjoyed 5/7 rides I rode. The food was good, and the tater twist was my favorite. I did get sunburned though due to a lack of preparation on my part. If I were to come back, I would definitely prepare for the heat with a hat, sunscreen, and a sweat rag, bring a bag/fanny pack to put my phone in while riding so it doesn't feel so exposed by itself, and skip Fire in the Hole. ~2 hours in that line, and for nothing!

Yelp
This was one of the amusement park on my bucket list and since moving to Dallas, I found out this is only a 7 hour and 30 minute drive away, but keep on delay going because we have passes to SeaWorld, Six Flags and Cedar Fair as my wife tend to prioritize these. I ended up saying lets take a couple of days off to go. I ended up getting 3 day pass for $110 dollars, but ended up being $126 dollars with tax and processing fees. There are 3 types of parking lots, free, $30, $50. I parked at the free lot and came an hour early. My walk ended up being 5 minutes to the car to the front entrance. They have trams that ride around the lots. All of the shops are opened, so if you need a snack, want to eat at the buffet or shop for gifts early you can. The shop can also hold your items until you leave. The downside of the park is the layout is confusing and you can easily get lost. There are signs and even chalk on the ground which helped especially at night. The lighting is terrible and I can hardly see in the dark. The crowds were insane on Saturday and I ended up bumping into many people. I would recommend getting some nice shoes as you will do a lot of walking and park is hilly If you have children, most of the play areas are in the back of the park like Fireman's Landing and Fair area which has most of flat rides and not the crazy roller coasters. This park is for everyone for the elderly, children and adults to enjoy. Food was okay. I had the cheese fries with steak and was not good and dry. I had the skillet which was not bad. I had the chips with the peppers and sauce which was good and I had the Arnold Palmer Lemonade. I also had a root beer float and pumpkin/vanilla swirl ice cream which I recommend. Prices were alright, but I wish the portions were a little bit bigger. I ended up eating at the buffet on Sunday for lunch at around 2pm for $21 dollars. This one I would high recommend if you like Southern Food. I ended up eating 6 pieces of fried chicken. I would not recommend the meat loaf or pulled pork. Pumpkin pie was eat. I ended up not eating dinner that night as I was stuffed, but I did a lot of walking to make up for it. Rides I rode all of the key rides and my quick thoughts Thundernation - good to ride once, but rough. They need to refurbish this one or get rid of it Time Traveler - spinning ride highly recommend going early as this can be an hour or more wait and this is a one of a kind ride Outlaw Run - rough, but I enjoyed the ride so much I ended up riding this 6 times in one night Powder Keg - launch is awesome, but it can jerky you side to side Wildfire - alright ride, does have the B&M rattle in some areas Giant Barn Swing - was okay, you can find these at other parks Mystic River Falls - getting a night ride is awesome as the lights light up. You will get soaked 50% of the time and people can be mean and use the cannon especially if it is cold and they see you dry. I can write a separate review on this ride. I rode this ride quite a bit American Plunge - I rode this ride 15 times in one time and 10 times in 1 sitting as this ride was not crowded and the ride operators just kept on asking me if I wanted to ride again. I ended up getting soaked on the ride Fire in the Hole - not too bad Train Ride - line gets long, but most you can wait is 20 minutes Tom and Hucks' River Blast - rode this 2 times, you get to shoot targets which is fun, but not rideable unless you have people on the boat Ride Operations - they were great and fast and friendly for the most part. Some of the guests did not follow some of the rules especially on the water ride and really surprised how fast the lines were. I would recommend doing night rides on Time Traveler, Powder Keg and Outlaw Run as these will be pitch black Shows I watched the magician shows, this one you can skipped as the jokes were not as funny and the magic was just okay. I also watched Frontier Follies which is a 30 minute show and you should get there 30 minutes early if you want a good seat. I enjoyed the show, but once is good enough for me. They also have live music and entertainment. One thing you should do is the marvel cave tour which is an hour and 15 minutes long. You should go to the bathroom before you go. I would go in the first tour as the lines do get long and the next tour can be in another 45 to 70 minutes. Overall, I enjoyed my time here for the 3 days. I would have been satisfied with just a 2 day pass. However, 3 days I was able to ride most of the rides multiple times as Monday was not as busy that Time Traveler ended up being a 5 minute wait at 4pm. I enjoyed the water rides and if you do get soaked, an extra pair of clothes or socks would help or you can just wait a couple of hours to dry off. I would come back here again as the winter fest looks like a lot of fun.

Yelp
An epic day of family fun! Today 4/13 was the most perfect day to visit. It wasn't too crowded or too hot! The longest line was about 30 minutes tops. The team members were absolutely exceptional. I did not come across a single employee who did not seem to be enjoying their work. They were friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. We tried a variety of offerings from funnel cakes and ice cream to foot long corn dogs, potatoes on a stick, and turkey legs. Every thing we tried was made to order. I give this experience five stars because I got to spend the day creating memories with my kids. This is a day they will both remember for a very long time to come. Thank you for a truly EPIC day!

Yelp
The park is decorated very well. My biggest complaint is the hills. If you are not in top shape it will be very difficult to walk this place. It is also confusing as to where everything is. We used the app and still had problems. I do see why it gets good reviews as it is nice. The rides seemed nice. It reminded me of a village. Saw one of rhe shows very much like a typical Branson show. I did like that rhey have a variety of things to do. I disagree with the good reviews of the food. Everything we had was ok but not super in anyway. If you are in good shape and love tons of hilly walking it's worth going to. Of you are like alot of us folks will be hard on you.

Yelp
For starters, this place has always been a Tradition for me and my family, I always got nostalgia from coming. But this year was completely different. 1. We got Trailblazer Passes, unlimited, (Keep that in mind). because of my brother graduating college. We went on Time Travel several times, to get our moneys worth. However they stopped working on the 9 or 10th time. We go to customer service, no help. 2. Eventually we go to 'Customer Relations' no help again. The 2 Trail Blazer passes were $170 dollars plus tax, and were basically useless. Very dissatisfied. I think it wouldn't have been so bad, but Customer Service was very dismissive. She couldn't fix the issue because she "Sold all the passes" Which doesn't make a ton of sense. The people here are very rude, but there are some good apples, if you look close enough. As long as you treat this park as if it were in the 80s you'll be fine. But that's the whole problem. We're not in the 80s.

Amber S.

Yelp
Family had a ton of fun. Was treated a bit rudely by ride staff at the big swings who let us through the gate to board the ride then told we had to go back and wait because fast pass riders showed up. I understand they pay to skip lines but if you're about to board the ride you shouldn't then have to return to the line. The $72 spent on the potato skillets for the family were terrible. They create them in assembly line fashion and by the time they're handed to customers they're completely cold. Don't waste your time standing in line for Fire in the Hole, a totally boring ride even for our 6 yo twins. Otherwise, everything else was fantastic. Kids loved the train ride and skit with the would-be train robbers.

Yelp
Is this the best theme or amusement park ever? Quite possibly so. First, Silver Dollar City has some amazing roller coasters. Outlaw Run is a wooden roller coaster that is lightning fast and full of inversions, something I thought couldn't be done in wooden roller coasters without making them unbearably rough. But Outlaw Run pulls it off, making it the best wooden roller coaster I have ever ridden. Time Traveler is a relatively unique Mack Xtreme Spinner. Its station is elevated, so the action starts as soon as you leave with a drop that takes you into a course of loops and inversions, then you are sent into a launch before you go into more loops and inversions. Then, when this is done, you go into yet another launch to send you through one more inversion before you go to the station. Did I mention you do all this while spinning? This makes Time Traveller another standout coaster. In addition to Outlaw Run and Time Traveler, Silver Dollar City has several other great coasters including Powder Keg, a launch coaster, Wildfire, a sitting coaster with great views, and Thunderation, an excellent mine train coaster. Additionally, because of the setting, all of their coasters have excellent views. In addition to this, Silver Dollar City has a cave tour, various shows, a beautiful park atmosphere replete with trees across rolling hills, great food including BBQ, skillets, homestyle buffets, and sweets such as their famous cinnamon bread, countless shops, and, around Christmastime, the most beautiful lights. Simply put, Silver Dollar City does everything great. We really enjoyed our visit and will definitely be coming back here later.

Yelp
Thank you SDC for everything! Christmas lights, Amazing! Christmas Atmosphere, Top Notch! Food Choices, Plenty and Delicious! Rides, Exciting! Parking, well let's say that it gives you the opportunity to burn off some of those food choice calories. Not a bad thing! The specialty shops that have great people that work in them, as well as quality handmade products. Excellent!!! Overall experience... 5 stars and I'd give it 10 stars if I could. Thank you for sharing with all, the reason for the season. Also for showing people how things are truly made by hand. Not just ordered off of Amazon.

Yelp
Enjoyed walking around riding the train. Fun seeing the park at night all lit up. Fun any age.

Yelp
We hadn't been in a few years, but we love Silver Dollar City! We were actually visiting Eureka Springs, AK, but we made the hour drive to SDC one morning and spent the day there. We did have to wait almost an hour for the first ride, so we purchased the Trailblazer passes and used them the rest of the day. It was worth the purchase, as we were able to get on most rides pretty quickly. Hopefully, we'll get back there sooner next time!

Yelp
Replace the rails on thunderation. It is so bumpy and shaky. That is my big wish. The ride would be SO much more enjoyable if they just do that over the summer. I love that y'all made a new version of fire in the hole

Yelp
Came here for the holiday fun and the tasting passport, first impression: so cute!! We got there when it opened at 1p and we're heading out around 5p so didn't exactly get to enjoy the lights. However, the crowds coming in at that time made me think we made the best choice. This park I more for younger kids, there's a few big rollercoasters but the wait was so ridiculously long we didn't end up going on any. Onto the tasting passport: I love the idea of this but I wish I knew you don't get the same portion. The cheeseburger chowder was high on my list because it came in a bread bowl but the tasting passport portion didn't come with a bread bowl. The tasting menu skillets were really sad, too. The Jambalaya came with one piece of sausage and one piece of chicken. I could be wrong but the normal sized ones seemed loaded. I didn't know the cinnamon rolls near the front were part of the passport or else I would have used that. We ordered a gingerbread cinnamon roll and a whoopie pie when we walked in and picked them up when we left. By the time we got home and started snacking on them they were both dry and pretty gross. Also stood in line for 45min for the cinnamon bread. It was just ok, maybe 3.5/5. People around us were ordering 5+ so I was anticipating something really good. TLDR: Pricy, cute experience, fun to walk around, explore the food but most is about 2/5, rides mostly for younger kids and the very patient. When the sun sets and the holiday lights are bright, the crowd is packed (I can only imagine the lines then). There's is a free parking lot, about a 15min walk to the gate.

Yelp
The wait time on any food is ridiculous. This may be their way to help with ride lines and such.

Yelp
Located just outside of Branson MO this amusement park offers thrills and chills. Nestled in the hills of the Ozark's you will find this interesting amusement park. Be prepared it is a lot of walking up and down large hills due to the location. They have some fantastic roller coaster rides for sure! The powder keg will light you up! Well worth the wait. They also have rides that are more for little kids... the flooded mine ride is one such ride that is calmer but still fun for the kiddos! It is a target shooting ride where my gun didn't work very well but the kids had a good time. They have shows that you can see... I mean it is Branson what would it be without some kind of Hoaky show? There is plenty of ok food... nothing exceptional but we didn't have anything terrible either. One of the main features is the free tour of the cave that the park sits on. You have to stand in line and wait... and it is a wait or you can pay to reserve a time to tour. Which ever you want to do but definitely do this... it is amazing!! It can be a challenge to take the tour... steep steps, tight fits, small openings to get through... I strongly recommend this only for the sure footed and able bodied! Also if you are really tall or wide this is going to be a serious challenge. It was hard for me in spots and I am only 5'10" and 220lbs. However the sights, the beauty, the tour guide... it was all amazing!! Beautiful to behold and a fantastic tour. I highly recommend taking the tour if you are able. We came with a big group of people and we had a great time! It is pretty pricey so be prepared... but we had a lot of fun.

Yelp
What can I say, we love this place! We have been visiting as a family since we moved to Missouri 5 years ago. Last year, we finally became Season Pass members, and it was so worth it! I bought 2 for our family of four, and they both came with free friends passes and we used those for the other 2 of us. I love the Pioneer theme, like Dollywood, and all the rides and artisan shops. The live shows are great too. But my very favorite things that they offer are the seasonal festivals and food/drink passports. We loved the garden fest in Spring, seeing the Circus in the summer, and the pumpkin dance party in the fall. Then of course, tonight we went to our favorite Christmas lights festival! The food passport is around $35, and you get to choose 5 seasonal choices from the different food vendors. We buy 1 and share. It is definitely worth it for the price and food selections! Our favorites are the soups, skillets, and funnel cakes!

Yelp
My wife and I spent a day here a couple days ago. The park is very clean and the employees are super nice. Most of the rides are very good. My favorite was Wildfire. Time Traveller, Powder Keg, and Outlaw Run and "must rides" IMO. We got one of the Xpress passes to ride early. For the most part, it was well worth the price. Toward the end of the day, the park emptied out, and we could walk right up to pretty much any ride. We wanted to ride. We tried some of the food, like the pretzel wrapped hotdog and a salted pretzel. Both were OK. Like any other amusement park, all the food and drinks were over priced. We would not hesitate to go back to Silver Dollar City as it was a very good experience. Call.

Yelp
I would've given 5 stars for all the friendly staff and pleasant experiences throughout the day until I stopped at the store at the end of the day. Cashier was busy talking to another staff and didn't even acknowledge me standing in front of her with a small jar of jam in my hand until another staff saw me and told the cashier to help me. All she said was "cash or credit card"...no eye contact, smile, thank you...NOTHING! She was not happy to do her job, and it ruined my whole day at Silver Dollar City. Yelp
Paid $390 dollars for a family of four to go to Silver Dollar City with friends who had a family pass. Pros: - A place to walk around with friends - A huge Christmas tree, which I've viewed before - Rides, which you eventually get to ride Cons: - Very expensive, no discounts for arriving late, no discounts for friends/family of season pass holders - Waited 1.5 hours to ride time traveler and got to ride two more rides before they closed - Food over prices, kettle corn slightly burnt - Rude people everywhere, my wife stopped to take photos of the "6.749 million lights" and someone behind her goes "KEEP MOVING" and then double-flipped us off including the kids.. Overall we spent a lot of money, there were no discounts that made sense, we waited in line, and we were yelled at by other park attendees. I'll never be back, it was overpriced and not worth it at all.

Yelp
By far the most fun I've had at an amusement park! This park is unusual and unique in many ways. Nestled in the Ozarks and has a must see cave included in cost of your ticket. Food: outstanding! Lots of choices! We tried the fun stuff because why not? Twisted bagel dog on a stick, frozen strawberry lemonade, tater twist, cinnamon bread, taffy! My son is working here for 12 weeks and he has tried the skillets and food at the Lumber Camp and loves it all!! Rides: oh my!! All the coasters were awesome but my favorite was Outlaw Run! Wowza! That knocked my ponytail out! Lol!! Too much to see in one day. I wish I could spend more days in Branson to see more shows and eat more yummy food here.

Jeannine S.

Yelp
Amazing place! The shows are fantastic and the family-friendly atmosphere is THE BEST! The park is clean, decorated "over-the-top" and the staff is helpful and welcoming. The food is delicious and not overly expensive. The craft demonstrations are amazing - something you will not find at other theme parks. We'll definitely be back!

Yelp
Parking and shuttles were a mess. Great rides, but ride operators were not that helpful on guidelines. Overall lack of information on employees' part.

Joe S.

Yelp
we tried to ride a ride and it shut down and we ended up waiting 80 minutes for nothing and the staff did nothing to make up for it or help the process go smoother

Yelp
Let's get this straight, if you come at the sweet spot during the year this park is most likely a 5 star all day long. But this review is for coming at the end of Christmas season aka you are paying to come into a park that is basically closed but has some lights and decorations and you can pay for the privilege of buying food, arts and crafts and other souvenirs...No thanks Just remember if temps hit 40 degrees nothing will be open except for fire in the hole and that other broken down dark ride with boats and light guns that mostly don't work...I wish I was told this on website and Silver Dollar advertising for Christmas opening times and ride weather conditions but no...Unfortunately you have to search parks guidelines and rules to find this info out which I did while I was at the semi closed park...What a waste of my time and money. I planned trip around the idea that if the park was open then rides would work unless lightning storms or down pour of rain or heavy wind...But nope with sunny skies and 41 degrees means entire park is closed for rides. No wonder the entry ticket price was slashed in half at the ticket booth but honestly it should have cost 20 bucks a person since you pay for parking as well. Meanwhile when I was at Dollywood at Christmas time I rode every roller coaster while seeing my breath in the dead of cold. If this park is considered the sister park of Dollywood...It's the sister you don't want to be bothered with. Overall I can tell this old fashion western theme park is probably pretty fantastic when it's actually operating....For my visit in December it was like coming to visit a dead frozen cowboy lying in a ditch...With his horse..lol

Yelp
Good variety of rides and experiences for all ages. Difficult to experience both though with kids. Need to go either without young kids or bring the kids and exclusively stay in the smaller area. There is no both.
