Tucked away in the Journal Square neighborhood, Mary Benson Park is a compact but lively hub for families and children. Recently renovated and praised by local parents on Jersey City Families and Patch, it features modern playground equipment, splash pads, and a welcoming green space for neighborhood gatherings. The park’s ongoing improvements reflect the city’s commitment to accessible, high-quality outdoor spaces.
Gentrification is happening near the neighborhood of the park, but not fast enough. I would be a little concerned about safety here if I were to let my kids play here. It's situated right underneath the i-95/78 ramp that is 100 feet high. The people around the park seem to be mostly white and asian.

Its a beautiful park but dont follow google maps directions, it will take you to a bridge above the park and say you have arrived. Refer apple maps for correct directions.

The playground is a great addition to the neighborhood. It's on the small side, but it has 2 play structures, one for little kids & one for bigger ones, and a rope climbing structure (which is why my kids call it "spider park"). There's also a painted track around the park that kids can race around on foot or scooter. Unfortunately, there is no shade so it gets hot midday.

Even though a renovation is needed this park has great potential. Located under the turnpike extention across from a school. I'm betting big things will happen here soon. The neighborhood deserves it for sure.

Nice play structure with a painted bike/scooter path for laps. Way too busy during recess from from school across the street. Softball field as well, but it is in need of some TLC.

What a beautiful new playground! Renovated in 2014. Love the little running track inside the playground.

A lot of changes but it still feel like home. I lived at Fourth Street for 15 years.
