You should take this review with a grain of salt because it is a premature review. However, I'm writing it anyway. Tough.
I stopped here Sunday afternoon hoping to catch some live music. They had just opened this weekend and had some bands I wanted to check out. Unfortunately, I came down with a bad case of the "nahhh, changed my mind" also known in other parts of the world as the "antisocials" the "lazies" and the "f*** it's". Anyway, had some time to kill Sunday and I was downtown with my book, so I stopped by.
First positive is that they continue the dog friendly vibe of DTSP and have a small but welcoming street-side patio that is dog friendly. Multiple people had their pups out.
Second positive-a good vegetarian friendly menu. They have 3 or 4 items they make with beyond meat products: a veggie burger, a veggie bangers/mash, and I think a veggie Shepard's pie or something like that. I did not eat anything but am looking forward to coming back with the special vegetarian in my life and the special Bruce in my life (Bruce is my dog, and if you didn't know that, then you should meet him. He wants to meet you).
Third, whiskey whiskey whiskey. A great whiskey collection. I got their Irish old fashioned. It wasn't called that. It was an old fashioned with an Irish name in it. This was a great old fashioned. Highly recommend it.
Finally, this just feels like a pub. Having never been to Ireland, I can't say how authentically Irish it was, but I've been to England and Scotland and no, I am not saying that makes me an expert. I am saying it reminded me of the pubs I had been in when over there. Certainly more so than the other Irish pub in downtown St Pete. It is a little small and dark, but again, I like the feel. Just not so sure I would like when it's inevitably packed on first Friday.
So, can't tell you anything about the food and only had one drink, but it was enough to make me want to come back.
